LIFE SAVER. Just could not work out how to focus on my face once I had set my depth of field how I wanted it. THIS SOLVED MY ISSUE. PERFECTLY!!! (and also I'd like to take this opportunity to also prove my point to some of the moderators of this forum that the OLD POSTS ARE STILL VALUABLE. As prevoulsy they have kind of suggested to me I shouldn't really be adding stuff to older posts as they may be out of date or no longer accurate. I get that. But this proves how older posts can equally be invaluable. Thank you Whirly Fizzle for this - albeit it from 5 years ago!!).
You don't say which viewer you are using but if you happen to be using Firestorm, we have better DoF support since my old post
In Firestorm 6.4.13.63251 & later...

Added free-aim mouse and focus lock in Depth Of Field
This feature makes setting focus point for Depth of Field (DoF) snapshots so much easier if you do not have a Spacenavigator mouse
Preferences → Graphics → Depth of Field → Depth of Field focus follows pointer
Phototools → DoF/Glow → Depth of Field focus follows pointer
When this setting is enabled, Depth of Field (DoF) focus will follow your mouse pointer.
This behaviour matches that seen when using flycam with a Spacenavigator mouse or similar.
Use this option in conjunction with DoF focus lock: World → Photo and Video → Depth of Field focus lock ( Shortcut ALT+SHIFT+X )
See this feature in action HERE

I'm having trouble seeing friends online. My partner cannot see me online, and I can't see him when we are standing right next to each other. I also can't see a few other friends online either but they show up on the dashboard. Could it be a region issue? Cheers.
It's probably a region issue.
Does this problem only happen when you both login to a particular region?
If it only happens when you login to a particular region, then it is likely this bug BUG-7557 - Online Friends are not showing when login (Once again)In this case, restarting the affected region will fix it.
If it is a mainland region, then you will need to request LL support to restart the region by filing a support ticket at https://lindenlab.freshdesk.com/support/home- 1

@Whirly FizzleI am saddened that you are so blasé about this. It is generating a LOT of issues in SL and if ALL regions are bugged how on earth are we supposed to get the names to show?
Does the issue resolve with a region restart still?
I think you are fretting about a different bug, which is new & started a few days ago.
I just filed it. BUG-231680 - Friends user names often stuck as (Loading) over the last few days for many users
This one is being complained about a lot in groups. -

@Monty LindenSo...are LL knowingly going to promote a bug to Main Server tomorrow? After all the fuss in various in-world groups, the noise cannot have failed to register with the Lindens, and now you have heard it from a trusted source in Whirly and Henri.
Come on, it would be stupid to promote a bug that affects nearly all accounts. Wouldn't it?
Eh, that bug is over 8 years old. Another year won't hurt

My home region (Hunburgh) is currently running 2022-01-06.567269 and I noticed (it has been lasting for a few days) that when logging in it, the friends list is not updated (online friends appear as offline in the list), while when logging in in a neighbouring region with a different server version, everything works fine in this respect.
Anyone else noticed it ?
It sounds like this bug, which as far as I know has never been fixed BUG-7557 - Online Friends are not showing when login (Once again)
Restarting the affected region should fix it.

I'm honestly more excited about the extra developers we're going to have
I wonder if we'll get Andrew Linden back.
He left LL to go to work with Philip at HiFi.- 7

It's not that long ago some third-party viewers showed avatar names above the camera cross-hairs, so you could see who was looking at what and at whom, until LL (quite rightly, to my mind) banned that functionality.
That was a real drama-magnet.
LL have never banned that feature.
It's a debugging tool, nothing more. If people hijack it for drama, that's their problem- 10

I've been seeing it on and off for a while, I suspect it's more to do with some settings at the client end, something like the ad-blockers in web browsers. I suppose one of us ought to bring it to the attention of @Whirly Fizzle

Did you recently contact LL support?
LL uses Stella Connect for their support now & you'll be sent a satisfaction survey thingy after a support contact.

I can repro that. I filed a bug report

But zooming in any closer, lighting and shadows still off, and objects disappear, never reappearing. Lowering the LOD doesn't always fix it.

It looks like this bug, well technically not a bug actually: BUG-9439 - When certain objects are rezzed, they cause other nearby objects (including default prims) to render invisible
The problem is caused by having too many dense meshes placed close together.

I have same problem in 2021. I am connected to the router via a cable. Anyone knows why is this happening?
Are you launching the viewer on a secondary monitor on a system with Nvidia graphics?
