  1. I just paid a visit to this memorial. SL is quiet. It's night. Very quiet. I took a few minutes to reflect on all SL has brought me over the years and remembered that SL, any company for that matter, is only as good as its leaders. Great leaders build great companies. Ebbe was such a man. To have SL accomplish all SL/LL has, there can be no question about it, logically. My emotions quickly got the best of me and I had to leave. I'm grateful, to Ebbe, the entire LL staff and the global SL community. I'm grateful. Very grateful. We love you Ebbe. Thank you. ❤️ Big props to everyone involved in creating this lovely tribute. Once there, you can light a candle of your own. SLurl - http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Altberg/147/132/58

  3. What would the Second Life exerience be without Second Life Music? Think about it! In SL my name is Mankind Tracer and I've been performing and been involved in many aspects of SL music and SL business since 2006. The SL residents from all over the world have been nothing short of genuine and generous to me for all this time. This is a video talking about what my SL music career means to me. A little "Behind the SL Music" :-)
  4. Yeah it's frustrating but we have to look at the big picture. If Linden Lab didn't run routine and scheduled maintenance, updates, upgrades, etc., and even unscheduled maintenance, SL would not survive its growth and we'd have many more issues. It is also smart that LL takes advantage of techonoligcal advancements, server upgrades and the like which also causes temporary down time. Even gas station pumps break. Would you rather they don't get fixed or get them fixed and have a little down time so they run smoother for longer? Stuff happens! We just have to roll with the punches. I'm sure SL will be better off from it in the long run. :-)
  5. As a live performer since 2006, I've seen many changes in the quality of Sl. It used to be getting 100 people on a sim, and have them STAY there, without crashing and minimal lagging, was not a problem. Over the past year or two this has become increasingly worse and increasingly more and more frustrating. Now when 30-40 people are on a sim while I'm performing, many crash, public chat is horribly laggy, people cant move, cant dance and as the performer on stage, I am running more programs and using up more resources. So having SL be so unstable is causing even MORE strain on my system's resources. This has been going on for far too long and I would very much like to see some effort being made to either upgrade the SL servers and in the very least, take the highest traffic venues and locations and put them on a more stable server. The SL music community has grown so much since 2006. SL is a great place for artists to come perform, or even just have fun singing to tracks, having karaoke contests, etc. But when the platform is ridiculously unstable, the fun is completely lost as is the vibe of the events. What's being done?

  7. I've been waiting since Jan 1st. I hadn't bothered checking anything until I noticed that's it's now the 10th and still now money has hit my PayPal account. Not like we can do anything about it ourselves, but good to see It's not just me.
  8. The real question is why is Second Life broken in MANY regards and further, why is LL not taking steps to fix it? I looking t about two months where my notices aren't sent, I'm logged in ruthed and have to do a character text very ofte just to get looking normal, teleport issus, inventory issues. I'm on pheonix, Firestorm and SL Viewer and the eame issues are happening. I've got a very stable high speed internet connection with a fast MAC. More than anything, I have been performing in SL for about 6 years now and mine and many other live shows of my friends are suffering due to these technical glitches. They aren't getting tips that are sent, many IM me during the sho saying they cant TP in. I mean come on... this has been going on long enough. Who has the answers? Can anyone... ANYONE... address what's been happening lately?
  9. Does anyone know of any way to have a group setup that charges a monthly fee to be in, otherwise members get booted? if not, do you have any other ideas on how this can be accomplished. Thanks much :-)
  10. Would someone kindly address the issues that have been going on for the past few weeks? Sim crashes with 20 people on it.... very bad chat lag... scripts responding slowly... streams skipping, etc. I wonder if the introduction of mesh is too much of a drain on the servers, regardless of which viewer is being run because I'm hearing from friends running different viewers that they are having similar issues. Just tonight, I was playing a show an my sim and these issues were prevalent as well.
  11. I'm honored to have been asked once again to kick off the events at Burn. Some may not know what this event is all about. It is the Second Life reflection on the Burning Man festival that happens each year in Nevada's Black Rock Desert, "...dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance." as the official website states. It is a chance to check out the amazing creativity of other Second Life residents, free of drama, conglomerates, advertising and all the corporate hoo-hah that often might lessen the importance of events of this nature. As with many of the larger events I perform, I would definitely recommend arriving early at the main stage. I'm sorry I don't have a Landmark yet but I will post and send it out as soon as it's given to me.
  12. As featured in Second Life Destination Guide, Club Graffiti is located in The Village, modeled after New York City of the 1970's. See the Destination Guide for more info and SLurl: http://secondlife.com/destination/the-village
  13. In SL I am Mankind Tracer, I have been performing for about 4.5 years Some years ago I did a few video shows but the tech wasn't nearly as strong. Today I offer live video shows for larger events. I use QuickTime Broadcaster on an iMac with a DV Cam. I have found much greater stability these days and plan on continuing to have more live on video shows for my live music events.
  14. It was truly a privilege to have been asked to kick off the event. The sims were well packed as was the fresh snow and we all had a great time during the week. Hats pff to GOHA and LL. Partnerships like this are what makes our world a much brighter place. Well done to all staff and teams as well. Happy Holidays! Mankind Tracer
  15. It's truly a privilege to have been asked to kick off this year's Winterfest 2010. I'm sure with all the amazing events and full line up of talented performers, it's gonna be a HUGE success! I'm really glad to be part of it. Special thanks to Jack Belvedere for hosting it all!
