  10. I am very happy to see the amount of interest and discussion on this topic and I look forward to working with some of you inworld. Thank you!
  11. This has nothing to do with Gor. To address the idea of agitators - I've run groups before, I know how to handle them, and yes, I will have officers willing to help me with this. Doing my best to make this inclusive for those who need a safe place.
  12. That's right, a lot of men did, and that's why I said "and those who support them"
  13. After the Women's March on the 21st, I searched Second Life for groups and places people may have created to support the March and/or women and/or many of the issues that have been brought to public discourse. Not finding anything, I went ahead and created something I am calling A Safe Place for Women. It consists of both a discussion group and a place above my land on the Mainland. SFW, as we call it in abbreviation, is for anyone who identifies as female, from any background, and those who support them. It is a safe place to gather, both to talk about issues, and also to hang out without feeling like you're in a "meat market" which often happens with club atmospheres. Right now, all I have is the group, and a clubhouse up. The group is free to join, and there is no charge for hanging out in the area I am providing. I am looking for others who would be interested in helping me spread this vision, add more things to the hangout area, etc. If you are interested, please feel free to contact me inworld. Marie Resch
  14. What, exactly, is an Infohub, and how can you get one on a private sim that you own? Thank you.

Once he did that and reinstalled, he could see layers on the body instead of gray. Others who probably also didn't know what "clean install" all entailed saw something completely different - they saw me as completely naked, save any prim or mesh attachments I wore. I was at Fermi Sandbox and was informed by a manager that I was naked. I changed outfits to one with a kilt and the manager told me he could see the kilt, but the rest of me still appeared to be naked. He sent me home, and sent me a picture of what he saw, and he DID see me naked - he didn't even see the tattoo layers I was wearing. I switched to a completely mesh outfit and went to a friend's sim. They saw the mesh, but did not perceive the alpha layers I was wearing underneath, so again, naked pieces of me were showing through the mesh. I don't know if you can write something which can assist people in cleaning out the files that are not deleted with a standard uninstall, but if you can, this might be extremely helpful, or this thread will be flooded with people seeing either grey bodies or naked bodies with just attachments. Just a suggestion, because 9 out of 10 computer users do NOT know how to go into their folders and find the bits and pieces us geeks know to delete. Marie Resch, We at SL Answers have been giving out the Clean Install information for many months leading up to this deployment. This includes full instructions for the deletion of the support folders found in the /appdata areas of the various Windows OS versions including Windows 8. This Clean Install method is a reliable repair option for a number of SL Viewer issues related but not limited to "Compromised XML configuration files, Caches with non clearing textures in them, texture indices that will not reset." - an example post is found below. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Viewers/why-won-t-it-allow-me-to-change-clothes-or-teleport/qaq-p/2150253/comment-id/6976 As we have been fielding questions regarding unusual Viewer failures for as long as I can remember I'm amazed that more people using the SL Answers forum have not run across our Clean Install mandate. One of the most notable failures when using these instructions is when the OP chooses to skip the clean-out step. Redirecting them to complete the Clean Install/reinstall as written usually remedies this issue. Thank you for providing a 2nd POV testimony regarding this important SL Viewer repair method. BTW - It works great in situations where Firestorm is acting up as well. My 10 Cents Worth - I wish SL would simply include the "Uninstall All Support Files" option as one of the uninstall selections. I also know that most SL users don't think or don't know to look in Second Life Answers - it would help tremendously if a reference was made to these tutorials/instructions on a person's dashboard or something. I'm not having any problems, because I did do a clean install; however, I don't want to be hassled going across the grid because othes haven't and they see me naked, if you know what I mean Thanks for the information. P.S. The major link in the middle of that information is apparently broken. It said page does not exist.

  20. Yep! Bad idea and I can't really say anymore than what has already been said. Considering that I do not expect LL to change course on this decision, I started thinking about the possibilities for an educational environment in the free market. Yes, you have to pay full price, but this also includes the ability to raise your own money freely on the grid. Students could donate items to sell in the marketplace to support the sim. Or the sim could hold events or even hold concerts, plays, or whatever. For the educational sim, these would be off peak hours for them and could earn the sim money to function. The price of a Mainland sim is $199/month, which is less than 50 bucks a week. If you ask me, the educators are sitting on gold mines too. They are some of SL's biggest promoters, but 1 huge thing I think alot of people are overlooking is that they bring in new people on a regular basis. From an SL merchant's stand point, access to opportunities for acquiring new customers on a regular basis is a rare thing. If a bunch of educators got together to buy 1 sim and they brought in 500-1000 new customers every few months, I'd seriously think of sponsoring that sim in some way. As a merchant in SL, I understand the benefits of name recognition, and if all those new virtual pioneers see my brand on a regular basis, then I'm going to benefit in some way or another. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that it is not all that bad to turn your thinking slightly more in the direction of profit. Who knows, maybe some day it can pay for a fulltime teacher or just incentives for more educators to join in. No, I'm not saying that LL's prices are fair. They are very much way over priced for the customer service that we get and total lack of concern overall. All I'm saying is that there are some free market solutions that could do more to benefit these groups than any discount could ever do. Sorry om, I did not mean to reply to you. Medhue, you rent from me - drop me a notecard inworld and I'll tell you about a place that will welcome you with open arms, if you're up to it. M
  21. You might wish to archive this post...the monitors are certain to nix it because it "encourages" others to leave SL... They make it hard to stay but they worry about who will leave. Well, I guess when they get everything all nice and streamlined, they still want a few people around so they have something besides pea green land and faux water to sell to the next owner...
  22. Check out my blog, http://fanciful_muse.livejournal.com . The other grid I hang out on would be more than happy to accomodate you for much less money and far more advantages.
