  1. Time for Second Life is now 10:49, 1sr February. I have been trying to log in for the last 10 minutes and keep getting the same message, unable to log in to simulator. I have tried using a different avatar, and have tried to log in to different locations and still get the same message. With nothing mentioned on Grid Status, is anyone else experiencing a problem? EDIT - I have now been able to log in. This post can be deleted.
  2. I will add myself onto this thread. Yesterday (1st) I thought there was just a glitch that I could not view the transactions history for 31st December but today, 2nd January, exactly the same issue - not able to see transactions history for yesterday or any part of December. The only difference I am seeing is a banner at the top of my transactions history page which states " Please specify a correct date format of YYYY/mm/dd and ensure the start date occurs prior to the end date. ". This is quite ludicrous since there is a drop down menu for the calendar and it stays on the page even when I type in the dates manually.
  3. Update, I left the viewer trying to connect and I have just logged in (1:17 pm PST), and I am noticing others on my friends list also following me logging in. Perhaps whatever was wrong has been sorted.
  4. There is nothing yet on grid status and I have checked in RL with friends in different parts of the world. All of us report unable to log into Second Life. In addition, the Friends Online page and the Friends widget on the account summary page is also not working. Has anyone heard of any issues at this time?
  5. You read correctly, yes. I tested by sending an IM to my alt. Inworld, the time stand at the start of the IM line was correct and matched my computer time - in the example I gave, 9:30am But when it reached my alt's email account, the time stamp was 8:30am. When I logged my alt in, the IM was there waiting for him and 9:30am was the time of the sent IM. I just felt it a little odd that the time stamp loses an exact hour between SL and the email server 2 minutes later. The daylight saving time is interesting, here we call it Summer Time and the clocks did go forward by an hour a few months ago - and will go back an hour in a few months time.
  6. After a long time of wondering just why my offline IMs either take several hours to reach me or never arrive, I discovered yesterday that the problem is with Yahoo. A change of email address and offlines arrived within minutes. Success. But now I have noticed a difference in the IM time stamp that appears before the message. I have made several tests in the last half an hour with different avatars and the issue is the same. I send an offline IM and the time is correctly shown at the start of the IM - 9:30, for example. However, when the IM reaches the email account a few minutes later, the time stamp on the IM is one hour earlier, 8:30 using my example. Is this a normal thing, is there a setting I have missed? My own time zone is GMT, my computer clock and the SL clock are accurate, and so are the time stamps in nearby chat and IMs. The "change" seems to come after an offline is sent. Does anyone have any ideas?
  7. I know what you mean. I saw my linden balance suddenly went to a minus figure and so I thought a relog would fix it. I should have known better and, like so many others, am waiting to be allowed to log in again.
  8. Another hour later and I clicked to check my dashboard and... I had to put in the password. So perhaps it is a Firefox issue - although there hasn't been an update over the past two days. Hopefully it will resolve itself.
  9. I use different browsers for different things, but my main browser is Firefox. About an hour ago I deleted all the stored SL cookies and also deleted my browsing history for today (which I do daily anyway). I then clicked my bookmark to get into my dashboard and was asked for my password, which I expect. Same happened when I looked back at this thread. I just restarted the Firefox browser and again used bookmarks to go to the dashboards that I use often during the day and I went straight in as normal, no request for password. I clicked the link in the email response for this thread and also came straight in - ie remained logged in, which is what I expect. I am assuming there might have been a corrupt cookie and by removing them all and allowing SL to place new ones it solved the problem on Firestorm. If the issue arises again, I will report back.
  10. No, I never use the internal browsers, always external.
  11. I have always kept the SL cookies on my computer and so whenever I wish to look at my dashboard, view the forums, shop on the Marketplace, I just click the saved links and I am there. Since yesterday, every time I attempt to go to my dashboard/Marketplace/forums, I receive the screen that asks me to log in. There seems to be no saved log-in details. Has anyone else experienced this over the past 24 hours or so and, if so, any suggestions how to stop the repeated requests to log in?
  12. There are a number of features in Firestorm that I use almost every time I log into SL. Those are missing from the official SL viewer. The SL viewer also has a chat box that I really cannot use - and so I do not use it and just set myself to busy and ignore any chat that comes in. Why the SL viewer has only the one chat box option I have no idea. There are also two other TPVs that I use for different things because they have features that Firestorm do not. A number of months ago, as my earlier posts on this thread show, I decided to migrate my store myself and not wait for the LL computers to do it for me. It took me many hours but was also a very good exercise because I was able to update a number of items, remove outdated notecards and LMs from folders, and gave me a good excuse to prune my store and get rid of many (over half) old items. This I did using the dreaded official LL viewer, something I had not used for many years and so felt like a noob again. However, chat box aside, it took only minutes for me to set up what I needed and then start the migration process - including some new listings. Dreaded viewer? No way, it was as easy to use as any. If you prefer to use a TPV you can do so. If you have new items to list then yes, there are TPVs that will let you do this whilst we wait for Firestorm to be updated, but why not use the official viewer? You do not have to use it for your day-to-day SL experience if you do not wish to, simply log in with the LL viewer to attend to your business then log out and log back in with your favoured viewer. After all, if you are listing new items or attending to your business, you are not likely to be tp'ing around or socialising or partying or exploring. There is nothing to fear from using the LL viewer, but make sure you download the correct one - I am not sure if the Project Managed Marketplace viewer has been integrated with the normal LL viewer or if you have to download that separately. I am sure someone else will have this information.
  13. You need to state what TPV you are using so that others can see and advise. I generally use Firestorm and I can confirm that once I used the official viewer to transfer my items and then went back to Firestorm, the correct folders appeared in Firestorm and all was good.
  14. Simple answer is... No There should be no need for you to redo any of your listings, this is simply a change in delivery method.
  15. I think we all can share your concerns, Medhue, and the trepidation expressed by a number of merchants, both inworld and in these forums, is similar to those raised when we were having to move from magic boxes to Direct Delivery. LL did ask for volunteers (and as you will hear from the video of the meeting, we were told that if there were issues then LL would deal with them immediately, hence their only migrating a small number at a time). Merchants with very large inventories were told their stores would be looked at closely and, for some, individually. Merchants who preferred to migrate themselves are also given the opportunity to report any bugs and errors and have those looked at quickly. I believe a sensible safety-net was put in place by LL and, with only small numbers of merchants manually-migrating or opting for early auto-migration at this stage, then the entire MP merchant community would not be affected by unexpected issues. As you wil have read, this new system is, now, live. I migrated my own MP store over a week ago and have kept a close watch for errors reported by customers, non-delivery, incorrect deliveries... As I have said in early posts, I have not had a single problem to report to this point. Migration is easy. MIgration is quicker than the migration to DD was. Unless a merchant has a very large store, I think more could now consider making the change for themselves and, if they have a problem, it can be reported here or direct to LL and then have more chance of being dealt with quickly.

I do not like all those folders... to me it is just visually confusing.. you all can have it. I will stick to my plans and I may shut down my MP...have not decided that yet. He says more simple to use.. pfft I am glad it is only in beta maybe it will not be finalized...... I say keep the current system since the percentage does not do limited versons of stuff. I am wondering now what video you actually watched. If it was the Torley videos (video 4 is the one for migration, if I remember correctly), it clearly states that the merchant has the option to list, unlist and fill out listings both from the viewer (only the official LL project viewer at the moment) AND as we have always done, online. You will not have "all those folders", whether you manually migrate or wait your turn for auto-migration. What you have seen on the video is the Marketplace Listing window, I expect. When that is closed, "all those folders" remain in a special folder in your inventory. And that is it - unless you choose to retain back ups elsewhere in your inventory (which you likely do already anyway). This might still be in beta at the moment but it will not only be finalised in the very near future, it is actually working successfully at the moment for merchants who have chosen to migrate their items themselves. This is not actually a discussion thread for the Lab to assess opinion (the first post on page 1 makes that clear). This is an informative thread telling merchants what will happen soon and how merchants might learn in advance what they should be preparing for - or manually migrate their items now. Direct delivery and the Merchant Outbox went a long way to smoothing out problems we all had using magic boxes. Now we are moving into the next development stage. Your items will be migrated by the Lab if you would rather not do it yourself. I can only suggest that you spend a little while reading all the information and links from the first post in this thread, check out the short Torley video on migration again, then give it a go. It really is simple and quick to do.
  17. To quote from Sassy above: (you could have tried it before during the beta on aditi, you could try it now on agni, you could read the information about it) Merchant Outbox has worked perfectly for me and countless other merchants with no delivery errors, unlike the old magic boxes where I had errors on a daily basis and was forever being contacted by disgruntled customers. I have been using the viewer managed marketplace system for a week now (I migrated everything myself) and again have had no delivery errors, whether that be for my own test deliveries or deliveries to customers. I found the migration far simpler and far quicker than that for Direct Delivery, I found updating listings and even folder contents far simpler and far quicker than previous arrangements, and I have a perfectly arranged Marketplace Listings folder in my inventory where I can see at a glance what's what - folder courtesy of LL. And it is from that folder, and that folder alone, deliveries will take place whether you are online or offline. I can assure you that if this new system had not worked or had proved a disaster, I would be the first to stand up and complain, and far more vociferously than you have. As it is, I have found nothing to complain about and can only offer praise for a much more convenient system that, from my experience, is working and working well with no issues for me.
  18. It is good to hear you have succeeded with your migration also. As for the active sub-folder having a different name to the main folder and so possibly confusing the customer. As you saw in my earlier posts, I renamed all of those folders to make sure that won't happen. I do know, though, that efforts are being made to have the code changed so that the active sub-folder takes the name of the main folder. Hopefully someone will post in here when that has been done.

Please see the blog post for more details, including how to submit bugs and feedback. We're looking forward to hearing your feedback. … erhm yes ? Judging from the responses in this thread, and from the responses given by Brooke Linden at the meeting last week (video and transcript of meeting available on a post in this thread), and also from my own experience over the last few days, yes, feedback has been listened to and noted, even welcomed. This new system is already in operation for those who have migrated themselves and, as posts in the forum point out, it will be going ahead for all merchants in the very near future. Far better to accept the change and read what information has been published so far. Yes, there are other issues with the Marketplace, there have been issues long before LL took over. Those would be better addressed in a different discussion thread or jiras.
  20. Thank you for explaining what you meant, it does make sense to me now. Please don't be worried about the new Marketplace system. Yes, the item a customer purchases will come from your inventory but, and this is important to remember, when you start to migrate items either yourself or when LL begins the auto-migration, a new folder is created in your inventory (and this also carries over completely to Firestorm). It is from this folder that customers will receive what they have purchased, the servers won't go hunting through your entire inventory. I have the new Marketplace Listings folder containing everything I presently have for sale and I also created my own back-up folder during migration. My customers are only receiving the correct copy from the new folder. I totally sympathise with you about past inworld issues, that is never a nice thing to happen to anyone, and I do see why you are being so careful with your builds and ensuring you have a number of back-ups. As regards new listings or editing listings, the new system gives you two choices. You can either right click a new item you place in the Merchant Listings window and select the option there to complete your listing or you can continue to use the system we have all used, going to the web page and creating or editing your listing there. There are reasons why LL are changing to this new process and many of us were peeved at yet another change. But I have found this migration far easier and far quicker than when I changed to Direct Delivery, and I find I have a greater level of control now than I had before. I hope you reconsider and do not close your store. I expect you have already watched Torley Linden's 4 tutorial videos on YouTube (the 4th one is appropriate to manual migration). They are very short and, I thought at first, were far to simple. Yet they were simple because the process was so straightforward.
  21. I read that post a few times also, and wondered if it really meant FP stuff, or anything at all, was being stored via the Merchant outbox. Perhaps better to place a copy of everything in a box inworld - and anything that is modifiable can become a box if it is needed to be "hidden". As for the new system sending the wrong items to a customer... if the FP items are not listed, then they would not be delivered to anyone. The items that get delivered are the ones that are associated to listed products on the Marketplace. It took many merchants a while to get used to Direct Delivery, we had all been used to magic boxes. Now it is time to move on to a new system. Try it, it is not as difficult as it first appears and I can vouch that it does work
  22. To CommerceTeam Linden... That system really does work perfectly provided there is only one item/box associated to the listing. If there is more than one item in the folder to be delivered to the customer, then the active sub-folder will take a random name from one of the items/boxes in the folder. This is not necessarily the listing name a Merchant has given. Having manually migrated all of my listings, I cannot say what name will be given to the main folder in the Marketplace Listings window. For that we first need to see the results of some test auto-migrations. For Merchants concerned about this - it is a very simple process to rename folders (both the main folder and the active sub-folder) in the Marketplace Listings window, and for those who normally use a TPV, have no fears, the official viewer I used was totally easy to handle
  23. Nice comments, Reid. I must say I had not considered creating an active sub-folder and then copying over the folders I wanted, sounds like a good fix. Given that manual migration saw the active sub-folder taking the name of one of the objects/items in the folder rather than assuming the main listing name, I feel that with auto-migration that is something which will happen throughout. So even after auto-migration, Merchants will still need to check the names of every active folder otherwise their items will be sent to a customer with some rather strange names, such as a notecard name rather than the item name. It only took a couple of hours for me to check through and change what needed to be changed but had I realised this, I would have changed the active sub-folder name as I went along. Not to worry, we live and learn. I can say though that the entire process was much faster than when I did a manual migration from magic boxes to Direct Delivery and there has been no queries from customers or non-delivery errors, so it must be working.
  24. Thank you for the link to Friday's meeting, it will help all those who were not able to get there. Fortunately I had already deleted over half of my Marketplace store, leaving only those items that were attracting regular interest and so getting me ready for new building. Because of DD and the recommendation to use folders, I had converted almost all boxes to folders and have been using that system - and it worked well, even with many objects needing to be delivered. But it meant I then boxed everything up in my inventory, no need to keep everything open when DD was working well for me - or so I thought. Because I wanted to migrate manually, I had to re-create the folders in my inventory before getting started. I do take Brooke's point that auto migrate would have done that for me but I felt if I was auto migrated with several hundred other Merchants and an issue presented itself, my query would have been one amongst hundreds. By migrating myself, any issue I find should have more chance of being addressed quickly. I made a few experimental tests using the SL Project Viewer before the meeting and it seemed ok. Yesterday I sat down and began the actual migration. Only requiring the inventory and merchant listing windows open, it didn't really matter what viewer I was using. I spent around 4 hours (not in one session) and migrated 99 items, it would have been 100 but I stupidly deleted one folder and have to re-list. That was an average of just a couple of minutes per folder which included renaming the folder to something more sensible than I had, copying the folder to the merchant listing window, finding the item online, associating the listing, setting it live and checking for errors. Now that, I felt, was extremely quick and not one item brought any errors and all appeared correctly online. A couple of test downloads and some purchases from customers showed the system to be working accurately. Today I am hoping to migrate another large number of folders and likely will finish tomorrow. Not bad considering I expected this to take me 2 - 3 weeks. Two points I would like to mention... The first is, remember if auto migrating that you can only have a maximum of 100 unassociated inventory items (which the old DD listings become), so you do have to delete those frequently or have them returned to your inventory (and that deletion process online is the longest part of the process because it just refused to delete more than 5 at a time for me). Second point relates to the folder structure we were encouraged to use for DD. The migration works fine if you just have one folder with a number of items inside it. However, if you have a folder with several named sub-folders, that will not work - or, if it does, I never found a way around it. If you cannot put all items into one folder, then boxing the objects to go into one folder is the only way it worked for me. Not to worry, surely SL residents know how to rez a box and click to open it? :smileyvery-happy: So, manually migrate one object, or one folder of objects, otherwise box the objects first. One important thing to remember, though, is that you must list the item after associating it. There was an automatic listing done for me when I associated but, when I checked on my dashboard, both of those objects were shown as unlisted. So before finishing a session, double-check on your dashboard that you see those nice green tick/check marks against every listing. All in all, time-consuming if you have lots to do, scary if you have a huge store on the Marketplace, otherwise, actually easier and quicker than the manual migration I did for DD. EDIT After completing manual migration, as well as the point I mentioned above about checking that all items are listed, I did notice another point. When you place a folder of objects into the Merchant Listings window, the sub-folder takes the name of one of the objects and it is not necessarily an object that relates to what you are selling. It is easy to change the name of that sub-folder and might be necessary in case customers wonder what is being delivered.
  25. Thank you, Kate. Test deliveries have worked and given me a way forward. I now have a complete set of folders with associated objects, and have the exact file name they are stored under for DD. Thankfully, although I box everythng up to keep my inventory numbers low, I do have everything and so need only to take my time and re-create sales folders. One advantage of downloading every again as test delivery means I can do the work through my inventory without needing to refer constantly to web pages. If I have understood the Wiki and blog correctly, the month of "beta" (and, yes, I take Sassy's point on this) has started. That gives me a good 2 weeks at least to create these folders. Then we have a month where the viewer is, allegedly, to be out of beta and Merchants can use (although I have downloaded the beta, just in case). Having the best part of 6 weeks to complete this work means it won't be such a huge hassle, for me, at least. I do see how many items you have in your MP store and I agree, it would be an impossible task for you to manually migrate all of those in the time frame and I can only hope that the LL migration will be successful for you.
