  1. Thank you for your answer Amethyst. Have you ever had anyone to pet or other activities with your AIF Pet?
  2. I've been looking into virtual AI pets in SL. While there are many to choose from, each has their advantages and disadvantages. I was particuarlly looking to "share" a pet with a friend, as in, allowing others to have the same level of control of the pet as I (the owner) does, i.e. petting, feeding, bathing, etc. I am not looking for breedables, and have narrowed it down to the A.I. Friends Pets (or AIF Pets), however, I cannot seem to find if these pets will allow others to control them (pet, feed, bathe, etc). I have tried to contact the creator, but the language barrier makes it difficult to understand them. Does anyone have any experience with the AIF Pets? Are there any non-breedable pets out there that will allow you to "share" it with others as in allowing others to pet, feed, bathe it? TIA!
  3. Hmm, thanks for checking Ciaran. I'm still have the same issue with people. Now even the old LM people are taking is ending up on the ground as well. So odd!
  4. I do this as well and I surely appreciate when other merchants do it that I buy from. It makes things a TON easier. I wish more did this!
  5. Unless you are doing it in Blender or 3D Max (I believe) with an avatar file that you upload in to those programs then I do not think there is anything else (and then I'm not completely sure you will be able to place the avatar where you like). I actually prefer to temporarily upload it in-world myself and apply to the avatar.
  6. I'm unsure which template you have but there are at least 2 that I know of; Chip Midnigh'ts and Robin Woods. I beleive it is Chip Midnights that has multiple layers that you can turn on and off to make it a little easier with lines. But honestly, it is just practice. Making clothing and learning how to takes time and definitley patience. Don't expect to be able to jump right in to it and have the lines match up the first time. I've been making clothing going on 3 years now and it takes me still a few tries. But I do notice the more you do it, the better you get at it and the better you get at knowing where the lines will match up. What I suggest if you don't feel like making the same style shirt each time you would like to make one, is use one that you already have done that is has all the lines and sleeves matched. Will that help you practice? Probably not, but it will save you time for those times that you become frustrated.
  7. The landing point is set to "teleport routing" to landing point. My alt nor the person who made me aware of it was in the land group...and on the part I no logner own...maybe that is the issue?
  8. Hi all! I've tried to search this topic without luck. This is the first time I've noticed this issue. I've moved my store in the air (from the ground) and have tested this with an alt after someone said they took an SLURL and seen them on the ground level where the SLURL was placed. I have a landing ponit set at the new location in the air so I assumed all would be routed to there, so it seems that with SLURLS it is different. Anyone know of a way to fix this? Thanks in advance.
  9. I agree with Shaodie. I'd contact the reviewer in-world via notecard and say something along the lines of: I just became aware of the the review that was left on the marketplace for the (item name here). I understand you were disappointed with this product after purchase. I feel the review is a little unfair since I was not contacted by you for any help, and I would have loved the chance to help you because I want all my customers to be satisfied. I would still like the opportunity to help you if you will let me. I do hope you reconsider your review. I look forward to hearing back from you. You're being polite yet not pointing fingers. Hopefully they will get back to you.
  10. I'm with you on this one. You can look at any given time at various places and find the same designs. But at the same time when I think about it was (and sort of still is) the same with popular templates (system layers). I do think that people use to be more willing to spend more time on creating something original when there was just system layers and maybe add a sculpted piece to their outfit to set it apart from others. Since creating system layers is still time consuming and you still needed to learn whatever softwear you wanted to use, I think it is less tedious then attempting to create mesh...making it easier to just buy something to sell.

  13. I agree with Ceka. They had mentioned a while back in one of their posts on the site that they would soon stop working on Phoenix so I suppose some already expected it. I don't mind firestorm so much especially since there is a Phoenix skin option. Makes navigating easier and just like phoenix.
  14. It would help if you would first start by Googling how to sculpt and search here on the SL forums and Youtube this very question. Before you learn how to sculpt something as specific as skirts in Second Life you will want to learn how to sculpt in general something basic. There is a free program Blender that is used as well as many other paid programs like 3D Studio Max, ZBrush and others. All are a challange to use espicially for a beginner so it is not as simple for someone to answer you in a short answer on how to sculpt a skirt. If this is something you are in fact serious about then you will want to find a sculpting program of your choice and you will want to learn that first. There are numerous of great tutuorials for Blender on Youtube if you are more of a visual learner. Blender Cookie is also another popular tutorial site that is good to check out. If you chose a paid program (one that you have to pay for) then I am sure there are tutorials out there as well for those too. You are going to want to do a little footwork yourself before asking very common questions that have been asked before many times. There is a wealth of information on these forums (and in the forum archives that you can reach by Googling), Google, and Youtube. Start there first with anything you'd like to learn in SL and you'll be able to find more information then anyone can tell you at once. Good luck!
  15. Before you get into trying to make a skin yourself you might try looking to see what is already out there available. I know a while back Redgrave had a skin named Tyra that looked very similar and I believe there are other skin stores that carry celebrity skins. I assume since you are asking how to make a skin that you are not familiar with how to make skins or clothing for that matter. There is a wealth of information on Google, Youtube and the SL Wiki and even here in the forums that would be a good place to start. There isn't a whole lot much more that anyone else will be able to tell you if you do not know how to do the basics; clothing. If making your own skin is something you'd like to do then personally I would start with something much simpler, as I mentioned before, clothing or making a simple shirt and pants for starters. I understand it is not clothing you would like to make but it is the same idea. Once you have down that then you can try your hand at making a full skin for yourself. Try the following links: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Clothing_Tutorials http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2006/11/build.html How To Make Clothing (SL Forum search) How To Make Clothing (Google search) http://avatars-3d.com/tutorial-template-secondlife/273-second-life-how-to-use-a-skin-template
  16. I agree with playing around with the wording, however, I doubt it matters whether the name is spelled Harley Davidson, Harley.Davidson, HarleyDavidson, or any other combination, the trademarked name is still used.
  17. It's not huge but my sim is a shopping district that has a few shops and 2 mainstores that is decorated all wintery (with a little twist, heh). There is also a hunt going on right now (Rude Santa Christmas Hunt) so that may be doublly awesome for some exploring and shopping! Surreal Fashion District
  18. I personally like it just for that (it being a lighter viewer). That and Imprudence seems to work better for my computer away from home that doesn't have the best specs.
  19. I'm unsure what it is called in PS but in Gimp I use the "Paintbrush" tool and hold down "Shift" and click around to try and draw a good line like that instead of free hand. This gives me more control of where the line goes. Perhaps try and see if it is the same there in PS. Also, see if there is something called similar to the "Paths" tool where you can make your own path by marking points. Hope that helps!
  20. Yes it was, lol. Thanks a lot. Fixed now.
  21. Cute blog! Love the name too. {:ThirteenTH:} clothing & tattoos has some affordable things for both sexes. Majority of items are 99L and under. Also check out the Designer Circle. Alot of great designers there with nothing over 100L. A few other stores that come to mind are: [AsYLUM] and Rotten Apple which are both here. As well as Baubles by Phe. Also check out a few hunts, you'll find many awesome things for free or for a few L's. You can find what hunts are gonig on now and what hunts are to come here. EDIT: hunt link fixed, thanks Charolette.
  22. I'm not sure of any specific tutorials that cover this but I know when I was self-learning I found numerous of Youtube videos just for clothing creation. Some that explained step-by-step and some that just showed how they did it sped up. Both were very useful to me. You might try to just search Youtube for "Second Life clothing creation" or the like. As far as tips for a more finished look, personally, that just takes practice. IMO you just need to play around with what you might like best. I like to draw a black line, then white, then black again near each other and smudge them and set as an overlay (in gimp..sorry I'm not sure what that layer mode is called in PS). When you play around with this it tends to give you that rim or look of a seam or collar.
  23. Try playing with the other mode options. I'm not sure what program you are using, but on Gimp I know sometimes that Burn, Screen and Multiply can work.
  24. Also don't forget to search the forums for this very question and similar. There are tons of posts and really helpful answers already posted! Congrats on your new store!
  25. I wonder if something like the Redpoly agreement HUD is available for purchase? Anyone know what it might be called?
