  1. Okay, so it stopped working for some reason. I reinstalled the program and did the same thing I did before, but the issue still persists. Why can't LL get it through their heads to make a key command option in preferences?

  6. I have Firestorm. I looked into the .xml file, but I didn't want to change anything in the event I changed the wrong thing.
  7. I'm not entirely sure how to remove the keyboard shortcut that closes all windows. It's bothersome because I usually engage in combat, and every now and then I will accidentally hit that combination and close out of my minimap. How do I remove this function altogether?
  8. Try to ignore the behavior exhibited from others at the moment. As you said, it's nice to have it explained clearly rather than aggressively.
  9. Which is fair. Second Life is exactly as the name suggests. I'm not a 6' robot, although I wish to whatever powers that be that I was. You're not one to go out guns a'blazing like Rambette. We all characterize ourselves as someone we would like to be, at least most of us. What I'm saying is, you have to look past the concept that SL is itself a program where you assign yourself a very specific role, however I believe RPG in general has guidelines that allow you to tell it apart from other types of role play. For example, Bloodlines (eww) could be widely distinguished as being different from, say, a medieval-type setting where vampires don't exist for some peculiar purpose. You can easily tell when you join an SLMC that it's absolutely different than other types of genre you would expect to see in SL. It's not story driven, there's no principles or forced "/ me" interactions that are meant to make a story arc. Try to see Second Life as the "real life" of your experience in-game rather than equating it to a story.
  10. I might attempt to explain it in my own views. Take it as you will. Role playing gaming, in SL, has different layers. There's the aspect of being a character (in your case being Tari Landar), and then there's the aspect of being a character AS that character. The latter is the type of role playing I think you are currently associating this category in, which I guess I'll call "Second Role Playing," SRP for short. In essence, yes, you are representing a role as a character in any game, but the difference between role playing and any other game category is that you have a story that you are developing in your own words and actions. In SLMC, the objective is simple: Spawn, attack, succeed/fail, game over. If it were an SRP situation, I'd imagine the objective would be: Spawn, engage in story building discourse, combat, succeed/fail, continue the story.
  11. I have had an extensive history within the SLMC. I have been appointed to the highest position, I have been assigned as an administrator of VICE combat, I have assisted in the development of combative communities throughout my run. In time I chose to retire, and after about 5 years of inactivity I have rejoined the community within the group Parx Oran is, albeit inaccurately, representing. With my personal experience, I would not identify the SLMC as an RP community. There were elements of it in the past with previous groups, however it was not a widespread decision among the collective of groups that existed. Each group had a unique method of providing experience, but it was not uniform as a doctrine. Ordo Imperialis was a massive organization that called for very strict protocols and intricate ceremonies, including a funeral held for a member that had passed away. All of these elements were not necessarily exclusive to this group, but very involved in their doctrine. The group I represented as a Lt. General was Black Watch 39th, a heavy artillery/mechanized robotic suit based collective with great emphasis on Scottish roots. Our equipment was thematic, but our behavior and activity was not based on us having the same name as a Scottish infantry regiment. To be considered as role playing, one would be assuming a character whose actions and consequences revolve around a story line that coincides with "lore," or the idea that all groups approach the character development in the same way. Any relationship between members of these communities, be they friend or foe, was based solely on the experiences between the actual people and not based off a character sheet that would need documentation and implementation of experience towards. Emotions, thoughts, responses and experiences were all had by the individual and not someone they were attempting to portray. Certain groups may incorporate this type of gameplay, but that is not the common core element of the SLMCs.

  14. I didn't mean for it to sound like I want this done immediately or anything. It can take as long as it needs, granted it doesn't burn a hole in my wallet.

  16. I put more details on a notecard in SL, which is why I held back the original information. I figured I would try to gain interest in the project and then pitch the idea to whomever replied, but this works out just fine as well.
  17. The reason I'd like to have mesh parts is so that the armor appears flexible and clean. Sculpties can be clean, but it's difficult for me to find any that aren't oddly shaped in some way.
  18. I'll answer this as best as I can, given the time I have before I have to head out. I am looking to get a suit of a scientific-looking armor based off a super hero I really like from a game called "Champions Online." Here are some screenshots to give an idea. Front View Side View Rear View Detailed Head At this point it would be easiest to start on the armor. I'll find a way to utilize clothing for it. I'm hoping this, as a whole, will cost less than or equal to $30. The skill isn't as important; just the idea that the armor can be made as precise as possible is good enough for me. This would solely belong to me, so having it as "no trans" wouldn't bother me, if that's how the creator wishes it to be. There is no deadline per say, if there are parts where the project is too specific for that person's abilities, I will be willing to cut the project short and consider the results. I know this is asking a bit much, considering this might not be a person's most valuable or expensive project. All I ask is that, for what I can afford, the person would do as well a job as they could like any other project. I apologize for not being able to spend more for a thing like this, but it's the best I can do.
  19. Alright, let's say instead of the clothing portion I just wanted the mesh parts. I'd assume that would reduce the time/effort to complete this project, yes?

  21. Ah, alright. I'm looking to get a combination of mesh and clothing. Having the ENTIRE thing made out of mesh would be torture, so I'll spare the creator that task. I can make a shape for the figure; It doesn't require anything scripted or serve any function outside being an outfit, though I'd like to have it modifiable in the instance I might want to add a feature myself.
  22. What I'm considering is hiring several different people for different tasks. That way maybe I won't have to spend as many resources, depending on how much people charge.
  23. 30 American dollars. Not sure why that's laughable. I'd like a combination of both cothing and mesh. I'd prefer if the majority was mesh, but we'll see.
  24. Understandably, mesh is a very difficult process. This is especially difficult when attempting to fit characters correctly. Detail is the key element in clothing material and appearance, which is why I see how people can charge a lot for specific gear to be made. However, I am not looking to spend more than $30 on a project such as this, and I'd rather keep it lower if possible.
