  1. Is anyone aware of any cheaper alternatives to the Nividia graphics cards? I'm also wondering if maybe I would be reasonably happy with a slightly lower level of performance than others. My current laptop is an antiquated piece of junk and, while it can take longer to rez worlds and avatars than I would like, I find its performance level when running SL bearable at least. Although, I do encounter a lot of lag on the busier sims, which can be frustrating.
  2. You're a scholar and a gentlewoman, Ms. Lane. Thank you for your help.
  3. Now, I don't generally read these forums a lot, so I apologise if this is a subject that has been done to death. I did a search on this topic but didn't really find my question answered as precisely as I would like. After persisting with a laptop that I believe I acquired at some point in the late 19th century, I have finally decided to bite the bullet and upgrade as a Christmas treat to myself. Ideally, I don't want to be spending much more than £400 if possible but might be able to pry a few extra pennies from my wallet if I can't quite get what I want otherwise. As I understand it, Nividia are the dons of the graphics card business when it comes to SL but most of the laptops that I can find ready equipped with Nividia graphics cards are a touch more expensive than I would like. I'm finding that most of the laptops that are within my ideal price range come equipped with the AMD HD 8330, and I'm wondering if this is going to cause me any problems when it comes to running SL? And, no, a desktop isn't really an option as I do need this thing to be portable. Thanks in advance for your help and/or caustic mockery.
