Anyone agree / disagree with my assertions that this is all to try and attract "Mobile" users once Mobile SL is "ready'?

No, I don't think Mobile was even a thought as the commerce/interface means does not cater to Mobile in the slightest.

When you start seeing media-only HUD overlay interaction/interface means with SL "locations", then you might see an attempt to cater to Mobile.

It would really take scriptable UI for applications to cater to Mobile, IMO.

  2. This isn't surprising.

LL actively promoted NFTs with their collab with Zenescope.

This is yet another half-implemented cash grab with little to no incentive to participate and/or to keep coming back.

    Why only two game types?

Why no all-time, monthly, weekly leader boards?

Why no non-L$ prizes for being in the top # scorers per week/month?

That would instill some form of competition/interest to keep people coming back.

Also, why is the experience used a grid scope one? The HUD stays attached when you leave...

Got it, missed the point that Object A would need to "become the root".  Is this determined by which object initiates the link? I don't recall linking objects via LSL script myself yet, just attaching to the HUD via script.

Doesn't matter who or what creates/changes the linkset.

If the root is delinked, LSD is going with it.

If a new root is linked to the linkset, LSD will move to it.

Ok, then could you explain this statement?  "You could use linking and delinking as a means of moving/populating data without setting up communications."

If I had an Object A with no LSD and an Object B with LSD and wanted to "move" the LSD from Object B to Object A, I would link them together making Object A the root, then delink.

  5. 1 hour ago, Love Zhaoying said:

Yes, that was my goal.  The "child" ("not the original root") could have a script to delete everything from LSD it doesn't want to keep, after the unlink.

This seems (on the surface) a lot simpler than other schemes I had been planning.

    Thanks!

If it wasn't the original root, then it shouldn't have any LSD after delink.

I was trying to research where we are with linking and unlinking.  The wiki only said this:

"When merging two linksets, both with linkset data, the new root's data is preserved and the simulator makes an effort to move as many of the key value pairs from the old root to the new. If there is insufficient space for all data the simulator will discard some data from the old root. The data selected for preservation may be arbitrary."

Here's my question: If you link a prim WITH LSD with a prim WITHOUT any LSD, then unlink the prims, do both unlinked prims then contain a copy of the original data?

I did a search on the thread and of course, did not find the answer.

I guess that I am thinking about leveraging the behavior to "copy" LSD (without using other methods).

Only the prim that was once root will ever maintain linkset data.

You could use linking and delinking as a means of moving/populating data without setting up communications.

Could it be maybe be seeing 4.3 when it's 3.4?

"ERIKA Mesh Body v4.3" is literally the name of the object my bots have seen at least a dozen different people wearing.

It was created by Cynthia Littlepaws.

  8. Can anyone tell me how to acquire a demo of "ERIKA Mesh Body v4.3", created by Cynthia Littlepaws that my bots have seen at least a dozen different people wearing now?

The latest version of the demo in the main store is v4.2.

Neither Cynthia Littlepaws nor Claudia Urdaneta have replied to my IMs, nor does anyone in the Kalhene group know anything about a v4.3 body.

I hope it is not yet another scheme of someone distributing a donor root prim "covered" ripped body like I've seen with many other popular heads and bodies.

    Thanks.

The stats for usage that I've seen suggest that LeLutka now holds nearly 90% of the market -- that's not just "dominating," that's a stranglehold.

Going by my latest Top 300 Mesh Heads stats, which accounts for 91.68% of all mesh head data I'm tracking, LeLutka's market share is closer to 50% with Catwa closer to 20% and Genus at 11.6%

I wouldn't call that dad bod, nor would I call MaleDiction's dad bod shape as such either.

IDT I've seen an actual dad bod mesh body in SL.

They've all been either too athletic, too skinny or too obese.

I'm still holding out for a Ron Jeremy Special. 😆

how difficult would it be to circumvent any and all of the existing permissions system?

i'm not a coder. i've never run a copybot viewer. i'm not capable of, even if i wanted to, of breaking Linden's perm system even though apparently there are some clever types (with the skills i believe you yourself possess) who've done just that. in that, while not wanting to interupt a personal issue you and NiranV might have, i find your question to his intents to be somewhat troubling as to its colouring his character.

now, if i read you wrong and the question can be treated as a serious reservation; the Poser as it has existed can indeed alter any and all poses irregardless of the creator or perms. unfortunately [my criminal bias aside], exporting those alterations has never been a capability. of course it's possible, and has probably been glaring at NiranV every day he toils away crafting his genius innovations. what exactly would prevent him from turning into an unnamed rogue 3rd party developer, cough, cough [Phoenix anyone...]?

i suppose your question might have been read better if you had asked how is NiranV able to ensure the preservation of 3rd party creators currently applied permissions. knowing you're a coder, his technical explanation might go over the common user's head, mine included. nonetheless, i'd be happy to have him take his time away from the project and detail how his open source code might be adopted by anyone else who sees a long overdue revolution in user capabilities lacking.

I have no skills in viewer development.

I have no idea how the poser is coded.

It was a genuine question with no intent on character assassination or ulterior motive.

    Exactly.

It will export as .anim file, can import said .anim files and will feature a whole host of other changes and improvements.

Will it allow for capturing and tweaking of your current pose which resulted from the playing of third party created animations?

Whoops sorry, I meant what will happen if I use llLinksetDataReadProtected() (with a supplied password) on an unprotected KVP.

4 hours ago, Fenix Eldritch said:

The protected functions will behave similarly to the standard ones when the password parameter is empty. So you can read/write/delete unprotected keys with the protected functions so long as the password is empty. Else it behaves as if you supplied an incorrect password as per each functions' caveats information.

So, just a special subset of BlueSteel and not all of BlueSteel then.

I don't have access to those Sandboxes even as a P+ subscriber, so I'm guessing you need to be in a super secrete special group for them.   Ah well.

I was just posting a few regions that are definitely on the new code out of who knows how many that also were updated.

You have to be a member of the group "Second Life Beta" secondlife:///app/group/19657888-576f-83e9-2580-7c3da7c0e4ca/about

IM me and I can send an invite.

is it all of Bluesteel or just some?  I'm on RC BlueSteel* and I'm not seeing it.

*or rather I was confirmed to be on BlueSteel until the RC channels stopped being announced on region changes (end of August 2019). I suppose I could have been moved to a different RC channel now and not know it but I do know I'm still on an RC because I roll/reboot/whatever on Wednesdays, so I'm just trying to validate if all of BlueSteel got it not only for testing, but that might be a clue I'm on a different RC version than I was prior to some unknown date.

What happens to the A_sc1 script (the one that sent the PIN to B_sc and thus triggered the update)?
Will it be stopped and killed? And all its held resources (listeners, dataservers, etc.) will be released?
(I do know that LSD is attached to the root prim of A_HUD so all info in LSD will be kept and not touched)

8 hours ago, Qie Niangao said:

I think your assumptions are okay, although the copied-in scripts will get a new name, so the old "A_sc1" will coexist with the "A_sc1 1" update, then "A_sc1 2" etc., unless something like llRemoveInventory tidies up, and then successive generations will toggle between having and not having the " 1" suffix. Anyway, this coexistence is an opportunity for the old script to propagate state to the update.

If you are sending a script whose name matches a script that already exists in the target, the target's script is replaced with the sent script.

This means the old script is removed first.

There is no " 1" incrementing of the new script unless it matches the name of a non-script inventory item.

There is no maintaining of script memory.

It is the same as if you dropped the script into the object's inventory manually.

state_entry() in the default state is triggered with whatever start param you specified, which can be read by llGetStartParameter().

The permissions mentioned allow for success worn or rezzed as long as both giver and receiver objects are owned by the same person.

  18. Blender can, yes.

It helps to have addons like Avastar to make things easier, though.

INB4 competitors chime in. The kind that ban you from their "help" group for asking questions or disable your purchased addon for critiquing it in other help groups. 😆
