Thank you now I begin to understand mesh vs sculpty ( not sculptie I guess I was spelling it wrong) . I seems it is better to invest in mesh plants and trees rather than use sculpty for lag and looks . And now I see why some people are invisible . I wonder how to tell if the mesh clothing you are interested in will be too complcated ? Since I do know how to make textures it might be easier to buy the mesh from somebody else and then texture it myself? I think I read you have to have something along with the mesh to have it fit properly still I would like to learn. Is there free or low cost software I can try ?

Thanks for your reply. What do you think about all those sculptie plants and trees vs mesh plants and trees? Do sculpties cause more lag than mesh? Mesh seems to be more expensive . I have also seen sculptie houses and wonder how they compare to mesh. I know that second life is apparently planning a new more advanced version of itself called future life or something like that in 2015 and they claim that the newer mesh will still be used but maybe not other types of things. I wonder if there is any new technology they will come up with for us to learn? What is rigged mesh? Is that a newer type of mesh? I wonder if they can do something about the invisibility aspect. I do agree also I like to choose my own shape . I hope they can make the size more editable. I would be nice not to have to use an alpa layer and edit it to fit your exact size. I am glad to know that not everyone is taken with mesh I was feeling behind the times in not having that much of it, I can create textures in photoshop and would love to learn to create mesh things. I think furniture for instance looks very nice in mesh . I hope it isnt too hard to learn to do . I guess from what you have said it is easier than sculpties

Hi everyone. I still feel confused about which is better mesh or sculptie and where do simple prims and painted on textured clothing still fit into sl? I notice plants now are made in mesh or sculptie. Which is better ? Which uses less prims and creates less lag? What about for housing? And for clothes I know sculptie clothes never really caught on Why is mesh better? I notice they do not move and prim clothes do. I think seeing people walking around invisible looks silly . I do not know how I feel about mesh clothing because of that. Do people still like painted on clothes anymore? What are the pros and cons of mesh vs sculptie vs prim ? Thanks

Do not worry about getting the free linden home. You do not really need it and it comes with a lot of rules and regulations that are a hassle. You can get very nice a very nice home for a low price and sometimes even free without all of those strings attached. You will be getting a weekly stipend to help you buy things now that you have a premium account. You can search inside second life or on the marketplace online for land and a home.You can pay for a small 512 plot of land ( the way I do ) and not have to pay any extra fees after your initial investment for it, or you can opt for more land and pay the initial price and then a fee . I had not read anything about a separate second life. What will be different about it? How will it be better? Since it has not even been debuted yet there is still a chance they could make changes and connect second life to it right? Why don't you request it ? Maybe if enough people do they will listen. Edited Update: Okay I just took the time to read some online articles on the new second life. Here is a quote from an article I found. I personally do not see why most textures for instance could not be moved from one sl to another , You would think that tga png and jpg images do not go out of style right? Here is the quote. I do not know of anything . Perhaps you should direct the question to linden customer support ? See what they say. I think that the fact that it was listed in general may have something to do with it.

Update. I actually took the time look at the neighborhing lots nearby today and to my suprise there is already a store on land that was recently vacated by someone else ,and I notice someone has put their skybox so low it is barely hovering above the taller houses. It looks strange to say the least. I have nothing to worry about lol.

I have decided to use my mainland and have a skybox. I have a beach theme in mind for my store and I have beach land it seems a shame to let it go to waste, but it will be done so unobtrusively and blend in to the neighborhood so well that except for maybe a small sign they will not know there is a store there unless they walk inside. I will have the beach land to welcome people and then most of the things will be sold in a skybox or on the second life marketplace. It will take a long time to get it all set up so it wont be for a while. I do not have a lnden home, I mean I do have the older ones in my inventory that they used to give away free with no strings attached but when I read the silly restrictive rules on those new linden houses I opted out. Who would get one when there are so many other nice houses made by people in sl with no restrictions many of which you can find at a low price ?

I will definately try to change the settings . and I did not know that things work better up high that may explain why if there is lag in an area and you cannot teleport out if you fly up higher it helps. For my store I wanted to start small have a few things in a store and the rest on the second life Marketplace.

Thank you so much it worked ! However it still only allows people in the group to tp to the skybox what about if I want to open a skybox store and have anyone be able to tp there? This brings me to another question. I have linden mainland that is basically residential in nature only houses in the area , I was worried if I created a store in that location the neighbors would be unhappy about it . Do you think they would complain ? You are allowed to put a store on any piece of mainland you own right?That is one reason I thought of putting it in a skybox

Hi I am trying to help those in my group to be able to teleport to my skybox on land I have deeded to the group, and it doenst work! I send the landmark and when they click on it instead of being sent to the skybox location they always fall to the ground . I can't figure out why but nothing works. Nobody but myself can access the skybox from the landmark. I was thinking of eventually opening a small store and maybe have it in a skybox but what is the point if nobody can teleport to it?

Thanks everyone again. Can anyone tell me how to access the free option for uploadiing textures on the main grid? I went to the upload area and I could not figure it out. It's nice to know there is still hope for. older computers to have value and usefullness. My old mac is still probably better for graphic art then my newer windows laptop, I had thought that was about all I could use it for. You know the weirdist glitch happened to me on sl yesterday. I signed on and all of a sudden my eyebrows jumped up higher on my avatar's face and I had not touched it ! I could not get them to back to normal and even on the lowest setting they stayed higher than I wanted . In all the time I have been in sl that has never happened before I tried everything . I changed body shape , changes skin, changed eyebrow shaper, cleared cache, cleared history , even tried to newbie myself and start over , Nothing helped. I wonder if it had something to do with the fact that I had just gone back onto the beta grid for the first time that day . Anyway I signed on today and the eyebrow settings are all back to normal. Hi thanks everyone. I have in my storage area an old mac computer bought in 2007 or 2008 forgot which. I think it predates the tattoo feature in sl . I just didn't know if I could still use it for sl or not. I just remember trying it once and it didnt seem to see mesh very well . I left sl for a while and so now need to catch up on things a bit. I used to create textures and try them out on the beta grid first. Do people still use beta grid to test their textures before uploading it to the real sl? elinah

Hi thanks for the reply. I didn't realize that there are two different ways to put on the makeup tattoos . I always just clicked on them. I tried what you said and chose add and it worked ! I can wear two at once . Thank you so much . I have read though that some on sl still can't see two tattoo layers at once so I wonder if everyone can see them? Isn't it true some computers can't see or use tattoos at all ? Elinah

Hi thanks again. I just assume I can't have two tattoos on at once become whenever I try on a tattoo makeup demo and already have a head color tattoo under my hair for instance it disappears . I cant wear two tattoos at once unless there is a way to do it I don't know. I have the latest version of sl I downloaded from this website so I don't understand it, but if there are others on sl that still can't see all the tattoo layers then maybe I should only wear one anyway? I just read up a little on how to create a tattoo and just created my first full body skin darkening tattoo. It was easier than I thought it would be . I think adding eyebrows won't be hard because you can add each texture for each parts of the body seperately . I had thought it was one texture for the whole body at once but since it's seperated into head, upper, and lower body its easier to customize each area. I can probaby make other small changes to any skin as well. There are many pretty skins out there but I have yet to find one that has everything I like all at once. With a tattoo layer I can make a custom skin ( well my abillities only allow for minor changes ) as long as it's not too much work it might be fun . I have also decided not to buy the pale freckled skin and so far pale is the only version it comes it they do offer an open mouth version and a tattoo of slightly darker eyebrows but I still don't like them ... I found another skin I like even more. I was thinking though that new one I like needed more shading on the nose so I might try to make a tattoo for that and see how it goes., Elinah

Hi thanks for the reply. It's a shame they don't allow the ability to put makeup and eyebrows on the hair base creator. Is it hard to add eyebrows to a tattoo skin darkener ? I have never created a tattoo before and wonder if a full body tattoo with new eyebrows added is too hard to pull off . The eyebrows are small compared to the rest of the full body tattoo texture. Hi everyone . I have been shopping for a new skin and found one I like but it needs changes. The face is pretty but its way too pale and freckled and has pale eyebrows . Is it possible to create a full body skin darkening tattoo with new eyebrows attached ? My computer can't see two tattoo layers at the same time so I can't add the eyebrows seperately. Is there any other way to add new eyebrows then with a tattoo ? Elinah

Hi everyone I have been searching for a new skin and see signs in some of the skin stores advertising about a skin fair in sl this month. Does anyone know more about it? Which skin makers are participating ? I have many nice skins in my inventory but for some reason I cant seem to get the nose right. The noses on my skins just dont look real enough. They look cartoonish and fake . I want a skn that looks like a real person. I have found one I sort of like but not sure . I have gotten really picky after spending so much on skins I lost interest in. Elnah

Hi everyone here is an update. Yesterday my land sold after I lowered the price! It took 2 days to sell, I went back online that night and it had been bought by someone who had made an offer earlier.. I will probaby find a nice low priced piece of land now . Ohand for some reason the edit function on the forum no longer works for me . I cant go back and edit my posts and I cant delete the land for sale post I made in the for sale mainland section. I hope they offer all the new technology they can . Ihave read there are other sl type games coming up and competing for people's attention these days so sl should do what they can. I have wondered something, I have seen people playing those online war games that look so realistic its like its really happening, What cant they get that kind of photorealisim in sl? Well everyone early this morning I put my land up for sale at the price of $198000 linden. Its high but not as ridiculously high as others I have seen, I am telling everyone that I open to all offers and the best one wins. I have already had some serious replies. Amethyst said to hold out for a higher price . Not sure how long I should wait to make a decision ? I can hold out but people may lose the interest who already made me an offer. We shall see. When you say new trees do you mean mesh or the linden 1 prim? It would be nice if the linden technology was an update or 2 away for all of us to share. I dont know much about mesh . I came back to sl and it was everywhere. How long has it been around? Can it be made as large as a megaprim? And the invisbility issue I assume is only for clothing right? I havent bought too many prim clothes because I dont want to walk around looking like I have no legs or no torso like I see sometimes with others lol. E;inah

Wow you really know a lot about the issues of lag. I noticed when I came back to sl and started to build things, that a prim box can now become much larger then it used to. On some of the older things in my inventory I can now replace two prims with only one. Do you remember those big mega prims (also called huge prims)? I still have sets of them. Talk about lag creation, they were awful and whenver I rezzed one people would freak out lol. Do they still use them anymore? Elinah

Well it appears that linden discussed a bit about those one prim plants and trees but didnt really explain more than that.The least they could do is to create more of them if they wont divulge the secret. I feel glad that the swaying is long gone. It made me a little uncomfortable to see an entire tree, trunk and all swaying in the breeze, if a tree did that in real life I would be running! Do you really think the knowledge of how to create the one prim objects that linden can would cause people not to buy the larger land?I know prims are important but I think that many people would still buy a lot of land they would just be able to fit more stuff. Imagine how much fun it would be not to worry so much about running out of prims? I dont think they even cause that much lag like some other types of creations do. There is another thing that bothers me too lol . Did I misunderstand the covenant rules and regulations attached to getting a free linden house? Did they really demand that we not change our land or sell it?Does that mean I cant even edit my terrain on my land if I get one of their houses? And if I want to sell my land thats too bad? I dont know about you but I think they can keep their free house. You can get nice houses anywhere and for a low price if you know where to look .Well did you know linden used to give away a cute free house to anyone when I first joined ? And then later on I think the others were only for premium members but they didnt seem to have any strings attached. You can still find them in freebie boxes online.
