  1. Thanks for the replies. I think maybe what happened was I uploaded the texture too soon after I had just signed onto sl, before everything in sl had rezzed and so the texture did not rez properly ? Well it is just my theory anyway. That maybe because sl was still blurry the texture was blurry? When I uploaded it again I made sure everything in sl was rezzed and clear and this time the texture came out clear not blurry. I do not know for sure if that was the reason I also gave more cache size and other settings to sl in the hope it would run better. As for the price of uploads not being expensive although prices here are cheap by real life standards everythings does start to add up, and I obviously dislike having to pay for something over and over again.
  2. Hi everyone today I noticed that a texture I uploaded yesterday is blurry . At first I just thought it had not rezzed but I waited a long time and it never got better plus I put the texture on all over again and it was still blurry. I also tried to see the texture origianal from my computer under local and it looked clear. I remember that yesterday the upload seemed to take a long time. I think something must have gone wrong. I do not want this to happen again and I wonder how to prevent it. It is expensive and frustrating to have a texture upload blurry and have to pay to upload it again. Have any of you ever had this happen before ?

You'll have to get their developer kit to get what you need since it isn't Omega compatible. What is Omega ? Since I really like the Catwa head is there a way to put my own skin onto it? I know it is off topic but do you think some of this stuff is overpriced?
  4. Bobbie Faulds wrote: Gacha heads are usually no mod so the answer would probably be no. You would have to get the developer kit for the head but again, depends if it's scripted to change. You're going to have to pay a bit to get one you can do your own skin appliers for. Thanks for the reply . You may be right but I seem to recall seeing somewhere a while ago a low cost mesh head ( do not remember if it was a gacha it may have been ) mentioning it could be modified for this. Of course I do not know if it was one I would like or not. I have only tried on a few of the major well known mesh heads but so far my favorite is the catwa if I had to pay a lot of money for a mesh head that is the one I would probably choose. However I do love gachas they are inexpensive and high quality. You are saying if the gacha mesh head is modifiable I can probably create my own hud?
  5. Hi. I see nice looking gacha mesh heads for sale that are not expensive and I thought it would be a nice way to test wearing a mesh face to see if I like it or not. I have my own skin that I created and sometimes make little changes to and I was wondering if there is a way to create a hud and apply my own skin to the gacha mesh heads? I also have a mesh head I received as a free gift from a store. I would really love to try to use my own skin with these if I could. Is there a way to create my own hud using my own skin for a mesh head?

If you're not creating things with mesh then there won't be much to do at first. I assume LL will have some experiences up for people to explore, but they're really targeting the people who will build things (and pay LL to host those things). Sansar should work with pretty much anything that can run SL. You get more graphical goodness the better your machine is, same as SL. I haven't seen any official information about machine specs though. Thanks for the reply but I do not really understand how the payment arrangement in Sansar will compare to the the premium membership I have in Second Life? How do they expect creators to pay them and what will they gain from it? My only real creating ability so far is to make textures to be used on prims or mesh . Not sure if there will be any place for me in Sansar as a creator unless I learn new skills. You say that Sansar will probably run on the same computers Second Life does but then how can it be compatible with Oculus Rift which will only run on high end gaming computers? Or will that be a separate version of Sansar that works with virtual reality headgear? I do think you are right Sansar will be empty at first like Second Life was . I think that may be part of the fun to create something new however I somehow feel in their push to attract big money they may lose the socialization of second life.
  7. Thank you for the information but it is frustrating . It seems every time I read about project Sansar they role back the date it will be debuted. First a beta version was to coincide with the debut of oculus rift which is starting now but Sansar is not here, then it was to be in June, but now you are saying 2017?Will a beta of this thing ever debut? I do not know if I will like it better than Second Life or not but I admit I will check it out. What I want to know is what kind of computer requirements are necessary to get on Sansar? I read that it will be compatible with oculus rift ( or maybe it will have a separate version for it ?) but only the highest end computers will currently work with that virtual reality headgear I mean the really expensive new type of gaming computers only. I have not decided if I even want oculus rift or not I read it can make you feel sick and disoriented not fun and if Sansar will only work with virtual reality headgear I may not be interested. However if it can work separately what computer specs will be best for it? I need to buy a new computer soon and I just wondered what I should be looking at for Sansar. Does anyone know?
  8. Thank you I will give it a try . I will try to move it to the same folder first because I personally dislike opening boxes and think others may feel the same way. I will use the box option as a last resort. Thanks again.
  9. Hi everyone I keep trying to put a gacha up for sale on the sl marketplace but I keep encountering the same problem there is only one item for sale but it has two separate parts and the markeplace tries to sell them separately instead of together as one . They are ears and there are two of them one for the left side and one for the right and they go on separately but are supposed to be worn together and the marketplace counts it as 2 separate stock items and tried to sell each ear separately. I can't seem to fix it. I also can't seem to get the gacha back in it's original packaging either. Does anyone know how to sell two separate items together as one sale ?
  10. Pamela Galli wrote: As far as I am concerned, if they have given me their money, that is all the thanks I feel entitled to. I agree with Drake: Once in a blue moon someone leaves a nice review, but more often if they did not read the listing or instructions they use a bad review to punish the creator. Thank you for your post . It is unfair to not read the instructions and then sound off without at least asking the creator of the item for help. The only items I feel sad about not receiving positive feedback or a thank you for are the ones I only sell for $1 linden as a gift. That one positive feedback I received ( especially since I was still learning ) really made me want to continue to offer more items as gifts . Now I feel the opposite, that maybe I should just stop making them ,that it is just not worth the time and effort .A simple kind word would change that. I guess nobody here understands that feeling.
  11. Drake1 Nightfire wrote: Do you ring up the CEO of every company you purchase from and say thank you? 99.999% of all purchases on the MP do not leave reviews. Be glad you didnt get bad ones and move along. Thank you for your post you bring up a good point but, just because most people do not take the time to say thankyou to someone does that make it right? You do not think a simple thank you , or some positive feedback would be appreciated by the creator of the item?
  12. Hi everyone. I guess I feel a little down today. My computer died just 2 months and 3 days after the 2 year care plan I paid extra for expired. I have to share with my daughter on hers for a while which is going to cause stress between us. My problem is I think I killed my compter running it too hard trying to learn to create on photoshop. I was making some little items I sold for only 1 linden on the marketplace as a gift to people. Some of them are proving to be popular and others not so much, but it makes me happy each time someone purchases one and I really hope they like them but what is a little sad is that only one person ever bothered to give me a nice review online, that review really made me feel good and I consider that a thank you but nobody else ever has. Today I was wondering if I should just delete them all and give up? They take a lot of time and effort and I do not even know if any of them are any good. Has anyone else ever felt that way?
  13. I received a reply from support and they helped me . I wanted to post what happened in case others are having the same trouble. I also took some advice from a post on another thread to change my preferences to not install updates automatically. Support sent me a different link then the one I was using from the sl marketplace and when I clicked on it I found a different viewer then the one I was trying to download before and this time it worked. Before it kept telling me I needed another download and a restart and it would cancel the installation. And when I restarted it was still gone. This time the installation went smoothly. Here is the link support provided and I chose the download version called vmm viewer. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Alternate_Viewers
  14. I may have to use a third party viewer if it works with the sl marketplace. I keep trying to install the vmm viewer 3.8.2 that I read on the marketplace is only one that will now work to manage merchant listings with and can't seem to install it on my computer . I keep getting error messages. I have tried about 5 times now. I emailed sl marketplace for help and I need to wait for their response.
  15. Has anyone else had trouble installing the vmm sl viewer 3.8.2? I keep getting error messages when I try.
  16. Thank you for the video. Of course it was confusing to me because I cannot use blender. . I do have photoshop extended currently though. I have noticed that the mesh template textures that come with the full perm mesh clothing do not match in any way the standard templates for skins or painted on clothes, and yet it appears alpha layers for the mesh clothes apparently must be created on those same skin and painted on clothes templates.. How do I match up the shape of the alpha to the shape of the mesh clothes exactly? In order to make the alpha later fit the exact dimensions of the mesh outfit do you need to see it in 3 d and somehow draw the correct alpha shape on? Does anyone know how it can be done? I have to say that rarely if ever have I seen an alpha layer that fit the exact dimensions of the mesh clothing on top of it. Does anyone do it that way ? That is what I would like to learn to do .
  17. Rigged mesh is better for clothing then unrigged ? What about the new fitted mesh? I have noticed fitted mesh does not work well in some sl viewers. do you know why? Even with fitted mesh sometimes there still is some skin sticking out but not as much. Do you think fitted mesh will completely replaced rigged for mesh clothing?
  18. Do you know how to create an alpha layer that is same as the mesh outfit ? Can they be created in photoshop extended/? Or do I need blender or some other software?
  19. Hi everyone. I need to know how to create perfectly matched alpha layers both for mesh apparel I have bought from stores and some full perm items too. I have to ask this question but if it has been asked before I apologize. I cannot understand why so many beautiful mesh clothing creations have alpha layers that are so much smaller then the mesh clothing they are meant to cover that it makes the clothes not fit right? I cannot tell you how many times i have had to pass up on a mesh outfit because the alpha layer was too small and bts of skin on my avatar stuck out in various places forcing me to keep trying on larger and larger sizes until the bits of skin were finally covered up but then the rest of the outfit was way too big. I could easily fit into a smaller size that fit better if the alpa layer was exact size of the ouftit . I also have a lot of mesh clothes that come with alpha layers I do not like . I do not understand this. It makes no sense why so many sellers and designers who are obviously talented cannot figure out how bad this is? Why don't they create better alpha layers that match their apparel? I have bought some full perm clothes and would like to know what tips and triicks there may be to create an alpha layer that matches exactly the entire mesh outfit. ? Does anyone know how to do it ? Is there some special trick or software that helps ? Thanks
  20. Thank you for the great advice. Well the texture tests are in using the main grid local texture option you told me about I tested 3 textures for the poem. The first was for a full perm frame that did not have a separate face for the poem texture so I had to shrink my poem down to fit the area shown on the template where the art image should go . Though it was small the shape fit the poem very well. The next one was a large rectangular full perm frame with a separate texture face for my poem, I created both a 512 x 1024 to approximate the shape of the poem a final texture was by taking the advice to create a square shape of 1024 x 1024 to get all the pixels I could into the image and sl would then squash it into the right shape afterwards The best one was the squashed 1024x1024 ! It looks great! I never would have thought to squash it like that I would probably have kept the 512 x 1024 because it was the shape of the poem. Now I have something that is so clear, and that I feel proud of. Thanks you so much.
  21. I would be very interested to learn all the tips and tricks I can to create the cleanest clearest textures. I have a lot to learn. I still need to understand uv maps and such. I also do not understand just like the creator you talked to of why a 512 can look clearer than a 1024 ? Also does a hair texture with a transparency alpha layer look clearer than a hair that has no transparency ? I have read you cannot use transparencies on mesh ? And does the use of appliers for texturing like in a fatpack with more than one color choice affect how clear the texture looks also ? PS. Madelaine I forgot to mention I did visit the lighthouse at the Forgotten city. I liked the Alice in Wonderland secret door and the clock with numbers that crash to the ground when the time changes. Very creative.
  22. I know some skin creatores use 512 and some use 1024 I did not know that it would automatically be shrunk down to a 512 no matter what size you uploaded. But now you are saying that even if a 1024 is shrunk down it will still be clearer than a 512 ? And that if you upload a 2048 it will be clearer still? How can that be if it is all automatically shrunk down? And does it take a longer time to rez that way ? Will it be blurry or gray longer?
  23. Wow I truly thank you all for telling me about the feature of being able to upload local textures to the main grid. You have saved me heaps and gobs of frustration by this. .I was so happy when I just tried. it ! The lighting on beta grid just is not the same and sometimes that does matter . Especially when I have been trying to experiment with skin creating. I would think it looked good in beta then upload it to the main grid and it didn't look the same. I need to keep updated on all these great new features when they first come out or they seem to just pass me by. Thanks. About the hair textures. I took a photo in sl of an old hair I have that is both sculpt on top and prim on the bottom. Even though this is a sculptie top I have seen the same issue with mesh hair. The textures are the same for the sculpt top and the prim bottom and yet if you notice the sculpted texture looks dull and flat and the prim texture looks shiny and greaming. It is even worse with dark hair..On the new mesh hair I bought the dark textures look dull with no highlight or definition at all just like flat dark paint around my avatar's head. Or maybe because they are often created with the use of a hud applier? Is that part of the problem ?
  24. Thank you all for your replies . Madelaine had written that there is not a difference between a texture on a prim a sculpt or a mesh but if that is the case then why do the textures on mesh and sculpted hair look so flat compared to the textures on prim hair? I attempted to save my full perm mesh frames onto my computer and then re upload then onto the beta grid to test different textures without having to pay each time . Anyway while it uploaded okay the textures do not look the same on the frames in beta as they do on the main grid. I know there are other other types of textures that come with the mesh frame but not sure how to put them on or upload them they seem to be used separately. This is all new to me. What did I do wrong that the picture frame textures do not look the same ? It would be a lot easier to test my textures in beta if I could .
  25. That must be frustrating . How do you help your customers to find you ?
