You took the words right out of my mouth. When I seen this initial post, I thought the same thing. LL is making it impossible for regular non-tech people to enjoy SL. Unfortunately, I went from owning two sims, a thriving business, and in world at least 12 hours a day, to rarely stepping foot in world. Part of the beauty of SL was that low tech, regular people could come and enjoy so many things. LL is pushing those people further and further away. I agree, bringing in the mesh will put the majority of content designers out of business. Not only that, the person that comes in SL to build and live their creative fantasy life will have no outlet anymore. How many more will leave? Is LL determined to make SL a smaller community of only trekkies (I know that is stereotyping but unfortunately true)? Sadly, this will also cause a sacrifice in the artistic expression that is now a huge part of second life. Previously, SL was a place where artists could live out the fantasy of creating in a virtual world. Many of these artists are not high tech people. Therefore, ask yourself once mesh takes over, what kind of art will exist in SL? Only the fantasy-renderosity-WoW type art will prevail. It is so so sad that the diversity will suffer at the expense of a small group. Good luck LL. It's not just the real world economy that is killing your finances, it's the choices you are making to push so many people away.
