  1. You play SL, so I assume you read and have understood the TOS. Or listen to people's opinions like mine. Report them if it helps you win the game, don't report them if it doesnt.
  2. Tiki Tattoo I have not ever needed another tattoo since I got mine from them 2 years ago and I went through dozens prior to that.
  3. It is very likely. These forums are indexed by Google. It also depends on your Wanted level which increases if you do the wrong or right things. And then you have to remember it's the internet, Anyone can see this and search it Anytime. P.S. If I told you I was George Bush here on the SecondLife forums, would you believe me? Can I get a team of Hot Secret Service guys to my door now, please?
  4. Whoever pays the most for their classified gets listed higher on the search page results. How much you pay depends on how much the other people are paying and how high in the list you want to be and what keywords you are targeting. And in case you are lucky and no one else has classified ads tied to the keywords you want, you can make your ad for as little as L$50. An example could be "hair". To be near the top of the list on that search you would have to pay a lot.
  5. Who do I mute? People with aggressive profiles.

Maybe they place the pictures in their SL homes, or maybe they just upload them to Facebook. Maybe it's a portrait of them or their avatars.. maybe it's a drawing of a unicorn on a trampoline. Doesn't really matter to me. Some examples of recent sketches/studies.. I'm constantly practicing and improving. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-jfOZHhjhQ5A/T49CxfwVCpI/AAAAAAAAGXY/zXjlANn3SOM/s700/emiliaclarkeSL.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-GEdnFjwpmWA/T49DaMeBquI/AAAAAAAAGXg/OPBp-nijIVY/s512/comicideasVIKINGsig.jpg https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-CHBoloSfdfo/T49DfO3cugI/AAAAAAAAGXo/oeDK2rYEaXQ/s512/gesturedrawingsjan25SL.jpg So I was filling out a classified ad when I realized I don't have enough lindens to publish it. How much do you need to publish an ad? Is it worth it to publish an ad these days? One thing I find extremely disappointing in this game is the fact that it's impossible to find things of worth (to you) because there are so many generic DJ clubs, sex hubs, and ads requesting Djs, Strippers, or Escorts. Makes it extremely difficult to find things of actual worth. Will my ad be spammed out of existence because of this? I appreciate any responses! Ads are annoying & counterproductive .. i make it a point to NOT buy anything iv had spammed at me as an ad .. this on FB & Yahoo as well .. you may be a fine artist & i might even like to have your artwork .. but i guarantee i wont buy it if you pester me w/ an unsolicited ad .. my attention is precious to me & what ads do is attempt to steal my attention for the sake of selling me something i may or may not want .. even if i may have wanted it i just changed my mind after my attention was diverted against my will by your ad Jeanne Ads work. Anyone who thinks they are counterproductive has no clue AT ALL! 1. Make a product. Sell it. Track your sales. 2. Use advertising. Track your sales again. If you did it right, your sales increase. If your sales did not increase, you don't know what you're doing yet. Ackley
  7. I block Avatars when I do not appreciate their IM or if they spam anywhere. If it's important enough, I make a note on their profile. I remove Avatars from my block list if I cannot remember why I blocked them. Objects usually stay blocked forever. Ack!ey
  8. I moved to another country before I started SL, and then I was like: Wow I can match this country's minimum-wage with just one SL product! Alt=:smileywink:
  9. I also used to download my transaction histories twice a month. Keeping records was a hassle, I gave up and no longer keep records. It's such a shame the commerce team acts as if SL business is just a toy. Alt=:smileywink:

Are you talking about teens using registered teen accounts, or teens using anonymous free accounts? As long as you've marked your groups as mature, you shouldn't be concerned (legally). The ball is in LL's and the teens parents to moderate their access. If you're morally concerned, then you have a problem. You should have a problem with the internet as a whole... Alt=:smileywink:

  19. Workable solutions have been offered by resident who know what they are talking about, yet still no connection? I'd check your internet connection and verify it is working perfectly before even attempting to connect to SL. 1. Ping your default router (after removing your personal router). You can determine your default router address by using the IPCONFIG command. If you have ANY data loss at all to your default router, THAT Is the culprit. Only your ISP or telephone people can fix it. 2. Ping secondlife.com. Does your internet connection even have a good connection to SL If you are not located in the United States, don't be suprised by ping times of 250ms or more. This is not ideal, but shouldn't prevent you from connecting. If those 2 are ok, then the problem might be your firewall. Disable it while trying to debug you connection to SL. Alt=:smileywink:
  20. Dogboat Taurog wrote: my point is that you are giving out false info. False info! LOL! There are only groups and mature groups. Many mature groups contain adult content. So far, LL has not implemented anything classified as an Adult group. Your point is not that i'm giving out false info. Your point is that teens are allegedly accessing things that they should not, which was the OPs point. It's probably true, but the responsibility lies with the parents, not the content creators, publishers, or distributors. LL has done it's part by restricting registered teens from access to moderate groups. I think people like you might find satisfaction when no one can access anything but PG unless they are premium users and verified as adult. Then the world will be a stark contrast of G vs. XXX. The investors want you naked and on a rack 24/7 just for a couple L$, and then they don't give you enough and then they demand their money back. Keep in mind L$25,000 is only about $100USD. If they've only given you that much you can keep it, it covers the hour or so spent in time just meeting with them. Interesting. So a second life content creator commands at least $100 USD per hour wage? Considering the minimal cost of items in SL and the low ROI, $100 USD could be considered considerable bank for most. What specifically do you think the creator was not "given enough for?" Yes, behind every avatar is a RL person. Designer's want at least 50/hour or they probably aren't even worth it. You get what you pay for. You can get minimal cost items yes, even from me. But when you want a custom project (needs funding) then expect RL prices. Well that seems pricey to me, but I'm sure someone might be willing to pay that for a custom project. At those prices you could buy the software and take classes and learn to do it yourself what with the money you would spend in a week or so. I assume that is more the exception than the norm? I was speaking more about investing in someones dream or invention as opposed to funding a custom project. They pitch an idea to a group or an individual and that group or individual funds an amount with an expectation of a return on their investment...perhaps even a ongoing royalty if the investment is of a sizeable sum of cash. $50/hr is not pricey for a designer's time. I'm talking about a real Designer with professional experience, not someone with an avatar claiming to be a designer. Look at any honest real world businesses with a presence in SL. I doubt they paid their designers/builders less than $25/hr. 25 is for the cheap designers fresh out of college with no experience. 35-50 is for the pros. Higher than that for established designers who are too busy with projects to waste time on people who want to hire them for less. A realistic investor knows this and wouldn't consider investing in a project that doesn't have a realistic budget. I assumed you were talking about SL investors and SL sharks, so the projects would probably be SL related and my experience along those lines is related to design. There are other types of projects sure, most of them would require programming LSL. Again you're talking about requiring RL skills: coding. RL Time: programmer hours. I don't know of any programmer who will bid for less than $25/hour unless they're inexperienced (in which case the project is probably going to fail.) Alt=:smileywink:

  23. How much I trust someone depends on what im trusting them with. I view most connection in SL as casual, and therefore do not require any trust at all. We can have fun and enjoy most things in SL without worrying about whether or not we trust eachother. When it comes to personal information, or secrets (business or personal or otherwise), then trust is a primary factor in how to respond to people. Even a friends list should not be reserved for people you only trust, in my opinion. A friends list does not really mean someone is your Friend (it's just a CONTACT list). People might be concerned about adding someone for a lot of reasons, one of them being able to see your online status.. But guess what? They can see your online status whether or not your a friend or foe, using scripts. Trust is built up naturally, not forced or obtained. Anyone who obviously is just "trying to earn my trust" is suspect. Why do they want me to trust them? Alt=:smileywink:

Are rl teens allowed to use child avatars? Are rl teens allowed to participate in mature or adult groups? I am asking because I have seen people who claim to be rl teens (and certainly seem to be rl teens) doing all of these things in sl. I am also asking because on a few mature lands I frequent, sim owners claim that Linden Labs allowed teens on the main grid because they wanted them to be able to access all the fun stuff on mature lands. Can someone give me some more (hopefully valid) information? What should I do if I see rl teens on mature land that have adult groups (such as gor, bdsm) in their profiles? Teens are not allowed on "moderate" or adult lands as far as I know. Same goes for groups. There's no age limit on who can use a child avatar. What do you do? File an abuse report if it's that important to you. unfortunately teens can join mature or adult groups, i suggest you read the posts above yours... Adult groups? There's no such classification, yet. So what's your point dogboat? Alt=:smileywink:
  25. I've had problems getting age verified as well, as a free member. Becoming a premium member automatically gives you access to things that require age verification, at least it did for me. Alt=:smileywink:
