  2. I guess we could open up a ticket. But you would think LL would be taking this serious and being proactive. Again, until they perform a full system wide check of all their systems, I would think they will not respond to any questions like this.
  3. I heard through grapevine that the SL website was tested as safe but I would want to hear this directly as a BLOG / SL GRID STATUS statement from LL that they have checked and confirmed their systems are all NOT vulnerable from the OpenSSL. (this would mean all systems - not just the front facing website) If its good news, then LL should be making this statement ASAP. If its not good news, then I suspect we won't hear from LL until they have patched all their vulnerable systems. BUT.. ATTENTION LL ... if you had vulnerabilities and patched them... YOU MUST TELL US AFTER THE FACT and recommend all SL customer perform a password change. Fixing the vulnerable systems and not telling us after exposes all LL customer's to the risk that our passwords or more has been compromised.
  4. Considering LL is a company that beleives in OpenSource, I will assume LL's servers and systems would be using the OpenSSL to execute their encryption. Has there been any word from LL that they have checked all their systems and they are or are not using the vunerable versions of OpenSSL? Since at minimum all SL accounts log in securely, we need to know LL has confirmed they and we are not at risk. LL should also be checking ALL HW SW that has a deployed instance of this vunerable version of code - not just the website login (like what it took to log in to these forums for me to post this message). Their routers, inter-sim communications, etc. should also be checked. If their systems are currently vunerable, when will the patches be put in place? Changing our passwords to a new SL password prior to these patches going into place would be useless.
  5. Well as much as my initial vibes from Ebbe on wanting to change things and be more open and transparent about what LL is up to, his only statement on the TOS topic a few weeks ago was not as open and transparent as most of his other positions / statement about LL and SL and his direction. All he basically said was that after briefly looking into the TOS issue he understood why there would be concerns about the TOS by the SL creators but its a complicated issue to just revert back to the previous TOS wording. And then he reiterated what Peter told us and those that don't understand the heart of the TOS issue (and therefor don't see this as a big deal).... TRUST US we really dont have the intent to violate SL creator rights nor would it be wise to do so. Well Ebbe, as a Senior Businessman of some very large companies prior to joining LL, I am sure companies like Miscrosoft, Google, or even LL would NEVER sign agreement or be willing forced to accept agreements whereby another party lays full claim to these companies' IP content/products/service under the terms of... "TRUST US MICROSOFT - WE WONT MISUSE OUR SELF CLAIMED RIGHTS TO YOUR IP" So Ebbe, why would you and LL feel it is reasonable for us to trust LL on this forced full rights claim to our content?
  6. A unique event where Artistic Dance by the Elysium Dance Troupe interprets selections from Toy's Fine Art Gallery in SecondLife. If you are a lover of art and dance then this is an event you shouldn't miss. Due to its expected popularity, seating is limited on the sim to 60 in order to reduce lag as best as possible. SO... don't wait until the last moment to TP into this event. All the details to this amazing event can be found on the Blog Posting: http://www.toysoldierthor.com/2/post/2014/03/art-begats-art-toys-art-meets-secondlife-dance.html SLURL: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Copperhead%20Road/200/76/1000
  7. Pamela Galli wrote: Another hopeful sign. (Now you have to take back all that stuff you said.) A hopeful sign ? YES Taking back what I said? SURELY NOT YET If we all see the Ebbe was able to actually influence the LL Development Priority Schedule by promote VLM development in to an active feature development by his team..... THEN I WILL SURELY BE CONVINCED THAT EBBE IS FOR REAL ! Right now all Ebbe said in his tweet was he would check into it. No commitments at all. I would even be impressed if Ebbe responded back with a status from his investigation... "I brought this VLMs up with the team and they said..."
  8. Not to get TOO EXCITED about this news but at least I have been able to push the VLM Feature Request noodle up the LL hill a bit further this week. This week via Twitter, I was able to get Ebbe to read Nalate's well written blog posting on what Virtual Landmarks (VLMs) are and the problems it addresses and the benefits for the SL Grid in having VLMs if LL developed it for the grid. Attached is the twitter dialog for those of you that don't follow me (which is likely most of you) or Ebbe on twitter. Ebbe seems to like the idea of VLMs and thinks the concept should not be that hard to do. He doesn't know the priority of this feature vs other LL priorities but said he would check. This would be a BIG WIN for Ebbe in two ways. 1) He would be able to deliver a serious overhauled enhancement to a fundamental and poorly designed feature in SL - LMs - which would make a ton of SL Residents very happy. 2) He would clearly demonstrate that LL is now actually considering and executing on CUSTOMER / RESIDENT ideas to improve the SL grid which would add serious confidence that Ebbe is different than all the previous CEOs that have come and gone with broken promises. Here is hoping Ebbe could influence the LL Development powers that be to move VLMs into the active development cycle.
  9. Well its awesome and dare I even say refreshing sign to see CTL posting in the Merchant forums. I hope this is another signal that the "Ebbe Linden - LL must be more transparent" is reaching the CTL. Good news. In the air of increased transparency CTL, may I ask you (on behalf of the other merchants participating in this trhead) to please provide more details and/or elaborate on what some of the primary LAG issues are with MP that you are aware of and plan to rectify? We know RonR is not a scalable platform for the scale of deployment LL has placed MP on. Are you looking on migrating to a new platform? Are there some fundamental components that are undersized and you plan to replace? Bugs you are aware of and have now been mandated by Ebbe to focus on? Please enlighten us with more details as to what are these MP Lag issues and how you plan to rectify them. Will CTL also be addressing the fundamental flaw in the MP transaction processing that allows a customer to receive a product, LL to get their commission, and the Merchant completely unaware that a transaction happened? Thank you in advance for this information.
  10. Sorry... here is a test video clip using FRAPS... its a quick test so not optimized but you can see how much smoother it is now. I am planning to do a promotional fly through video of my 5 floor art gallery... so this is the entrance test fly in.
  11. WELL PROBLEM SOLVED.... After trying 3 other video capturing applications, I finally ignored my Anti-virus (thinking its just a false positive) and downloaded the FRAPS app. I figured if the other 3 failed to solve the problem on the jerky high motion video capture, FRAPS will likely have the same issue. I WAS WRONG ! FRAPS IS A SAVIOR & SOLVED THE JERKINESS COMPLETELY ! It didnt matter how intense my graphic setting on the viewer, FRAPS captured my high motion video almost as silky smooth as no recording being on. I didnt expect 100% perfect but FRAPS got rid of about 97% of it. More than adequate. So for anyone else that has this problem, TRY FRAPS !
  12. jjccc, you misunderstood my problem. To reiterate, I have ZERO problems with panning zooming flying around the SL sim with my be 3Dconnexion joystick. It is as silky smooth as one could ever want the motions to be. In fact even with my viewer in its highest setting and everything enabled and running my screen at about 2550x1570 screen size, my camera motions are flawless. The problem is that as soon as I try to RECORD / CAPTURE the screen motions using capturing software from Camtasia Studio, Microsoft Expressions4, and now another software (which i cant recall at the moment but the icon looks like a mouse on steriods), the captures are jerky / jumpy. Not flowing smoothly. So my question to you as you seem to have been able to RECORD without jerkiness, what capture software did you use? Windows system? etc?
  13. Thanks Madeline for the ideas. I tried your idea of keeping the FF and Capture apps on different CPUs. I even shut down my Anti-Virus as that could also be a potential cause. I made the apps both be HIGH priority. It had not positive effect with Camtasia. Using Microsoft Expressions4 Screen Capture was a bit better but still not a silky smooth as when the capture is stopped. It could be a conflict in the AMD GPU hardware / driver. If so I dont know how one would fix that. What capture app do other Machimina creators use? I was going to try the free version of FRAPS but my AntiVirus instantly considered the download to be a Trojan so I didn't download it. I suspect its a false positive because of the executable name FRAPs uses setup.exe. I was told by one person that an app called MOVIESTORM is used by Hollywood types. But what do ppl use and do they get this screen jerkiness?
  14. Here is a small youtube example that shows the jerkiness of the movement as content passes by. I want to say again that as soon as I pause or stop the capturing, these same flycam motions are SMOOOTHHH as SILK! There is no jerking - even if I were to set my viewer to its highest quality and on my large 2560x1600 screen in full screen, the motions are silky smooth. *** I removed this video from youtube as it was no longer needed ***
  15. So for a couple weeks I have tried pretty my everything to resolve this frustrating problem while trying to capture and produce my first Machimina. The problem is simple... when trying to capture a flycam scene through my art gallery, the movements are jerky. Some points to consider that you all may ask me and hopefully I can answer in advance: The level of jerkiness is far more pronounced when there is a lot of screen content movement such as rotating the camera or flying close by a wall / object. If I cam camming straight forward toward a target/subject the jerkiness is almost gone. When not capturing, the flycam motion is 100% fluid and smooth - regardless of any movement of the camera. I am using a 3DConnexions joystick with full feathering and slow coordinates response so that it provides a very stable flycam experience.I have a pretty darn powerful computer, HD7950 graphics card, i7-860, 8GB RAM, two monitors 1024x1920 and 2650x1600, and both an SSD and standard HD.I have tried the Beta and non-Beta version of FS, Singularity, and LL latest viewers. No real change in the problem between any of these versions.I set my viewer to have a HIGH priority on my system cpu so that it beats all other apps.I have even set the Graphics mode down to the LOWEST QUALITY setting to ensure there is the least amount of viewer load on the system. No real improvements.I have tried Microsoft Expressions 4 and Camtasia Studio and played with all their settings for fps, bitrate, compression, with minimal improvements but not great.I have told the programs to store to both my SSD and standard HD - no difference and I did not see either drive stressed out during capturing. With Camtasia I used the XVID Codec which further reduces dropped frames during capturing and I noticed that the jerkiness is happening even if there is almost no dropped frames. It seems to be more of an issue of contension between the Viewer and any capturing app.I have tried even small screen sizes like 854x480 (as well as many other larger sizes) and the jerkiness does not seem to be inpacted by thes capture screen size.I have captured on both my ultra high res and 1080 monitors with no improvement. In fact I even shut off my 2650 rez monitor to ensure my GPU was only process one monitor feed. No improvement.I have watched my CPU and RAM usage during the captures and neither is close to max. Nor is my graphic card stressed out.I wanted to try FRAPS but every time I try ro download it, my Anti-Virus instantly considers it to have a trojan - YES its being downloaded right from the FRAPS website.I AM FRUSTRATED - RAN OUT OF IDEAS - PLEASEEEE HELP !!!
  16. FurryNinjaKitten wrote: So what you are saying is that I should immediately start ripping off others, and if Linden should try to use such in a larger marketing scheme outside of SL, they would be sued for copyright infringement- is this correct? ... First of all I didn't say that - you did. Secondly, why would you waste your time "immediately start ripping off others" when countless others have done this for you arleady? A good percentage of content in the current SL Marketplace and what is sold inworld is either direct unauthorized rips (textures 3d models) from the internet or copybotted content from others. So don't waste your time - already being done. As for being sued for infringements.... its happening now and how much of this unauthorized content is causing LL to be sued for promoting and providing distribution of copyright infringed content? Regardless, this argument doesn't related to what the burning issues about the TOS is all about. The argument is not about the illegal content on the SL grid and MP, its is about LL's highjacking of the rights of the IP holder for content that the holder has brought onto the SL grid. I don't care what LL, Peter Grey, or even Ebbe publically try to assure all of us on THEIR INTENT for needing all these unrestricted rights to our content... the intent needs to be backed up with legal wording in the TOS. Verbal intent carries no weight in the future if / when LL decided to use our content in a manner we do not wish to or not fairly compensated for.
  17. Pamela Galli wrote: I am not one of those you agree with in this thread. There is not enough evidence to draw any kind of conclusion at this point, and I am more than willing to wait and see what he does as well as says. Its not that i am "NOT WILLING TO WAIT" to see if Ebbe is different than every other past CEO in LL's history that has come and gone and failed to address all the Commerce Team woes. Other than packing my bag and shutting down my MP presence - which would be stupid effort to take for any reason - I really have no choice but to be willing to wait. It doesn't hurt me to wait. So Pamela, I am as willing to wait to see if Ebbe delivers where no LL CEO has never before. The difference between you and me on this topic is that I will be skeptical on Ebbe's ability to deliver until he actually shows PROOF that he is different and delivering. You are taking the position of HOPING that he seems different and will make visible improvements before he even does. In the end when Ebbe's CEO term ends, I will be pleasantly surprised if he does and not disappointed if he proved to be like Rodvik and all the rest. You will be disappointed once again if he doesn't and as happy as me if he does. With the past record of LL CEOs addressing the Commerce Team issues at 100% failure, I think its the better approach to be skeptical NOW and HAPPY if he succeeds. Not sure why anyone would be hopeful about any CEO with a 100% failure history as evidence. Just the way I fly
  18. Honestly Nalates, the chances are that those thanking Ebbe for they MASSIVE PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS are likely plants or brown-nosers. I didn't see any eye-popping improvement in the MP - maybe others did. But again, even if they fixed MP performance, that is the least critical of the issues on MP... to me the disjointed transaction process is the most dangerous whereby a customer can buy our product, LL can be paid, and yet the merchant receives no payment - in fact has no record that the transaction has even happened. And then insult to injury is when these failed transactions are discovered by the Merchant (only because an honest customer reported it to the Merchant), LL Support's response to the merchant is "read the TOS... MP and all LL services are "AS IS" and we are not responsible for failed transactions in the MP - Sorry".
  19. Guys, dont get me wrong... I am not optimistic that this latest merry-go-round of CEO's will have any more power or desire to repair the long history of what ever factors that make the LL Commerce Team so ineffective and out-of-touch with the products/services/customer base their are obligated to support and grow. Even if Ebbe knows what this key factor is that - as he said - they were not given the chance to succeed, I agree with all of you that he will likely go through his era of being CEO with no improvements to the Commerce Team.
  20. Why not escalate the support ticket to a LL management? Many people have Peter Grey's email, email it to him. Maybe email, twitter, IM our new CEO and show him yet another example of LL's culture and history of communication black ops on information they SHOULD BE revealing to any of their customers that are legitimately asking "If my sales and transaction numbers do not meet LL's clearly stated thresholds, why are you holding my $US account hostage until I provide this information with no explanation?" To me and anyone reasonable, if LL has set thresholds on who should report this information then they should be required to explain TO THEIR CUSTOMERS why they are requiring exposure of private personal information without cause. So Ebbe... this is the LL Black Op Communications culture at LL that all LL's customers are talking about.
  21. Yes those are good sources of how Ebbe might already be aware of the firestorm of frustration over all these years that has been burning between the Merchants of SL and the generations of the Commerce Team. And I would think as you do that one of these "never been given the opportunity to succeed" could be lack of funding priorities for the team. BUT, regardless of the level of funding pioroity that LL Execs have continually neglected this team with, none of that would explain the following behaviors by these successive generations of the Commerce Team: Funding or no funding IMHO does not explain some of the horrible isolationist new features / product fix decision priorities that have been made by this team over the years. They took on some MAJOR enhancement efforts to deploy features that were questionable and didn't place any effort to deploy fixes to very simple enhancements that the Merchants ask for. It doesnt explain the team's utter inability and even downright fear to openly engage, interact with, and leverage the enormous talents, skills, and advice offered by this merchant community that mixes Creator/Developer skills with business/marketing skills. As you said and I will expand on, it doesn't explain the poor architected design of the current generation of the Marketplace system that has allowed a transaction to be separated into two that can and has become disjointed and allowed products to be sold, LL to be paid, and the Merchants to not be aware of the sale NOR PAID! So Ebbe might feel that this is a team that is very skilled and wise but has been hampered by outside controls, but years of history watching the generations of this team fumble and fail on what I just mentioned above tells me that the team immaturity and lack of effective experience on running this critical service within LL/SL has to be a major part of the on-going failures by the Commerce Team. When I said to Ebbe that the Commerce Team needs an overhaul... I still stand by this statement. These barriers that Ebbe thinks are holding this team back need to be addressed as part of this overhaul BUT the management of this team needs to be reviewed to see if the leadership of this team needs to be replaced by those that have a better grasp of what is needed in the Commerce Team's scope - which included Marketplace. Remember Nalates... this is not just about a website (Marketplace).... its about ALL COMMERCE ACTIVITIES within SL... which goes far beyond the MP site. I think most of the SL community (even those with a strong grasp of all other aspects of LL development) underestimate how complex the merchant community systems are and how majorly failed it is.
  22. PS... what I am curious about Ebbe's position on the Commerce Team is, how after one week does Ebbe already have this clear a suspicion on what factors are dooming this team to continually fail? In fact, how does he even know the extent, magnitude, and history of how bad this team has failed after only one week. Who has he talked to? Please dont tell me it was only LL Commerce Team staff or LL Execs? No input for this team's customers... THE MERCHANTS ? I hope if Ebbe is serious about finally solving the years of Commerce Team failures that he engages the Merchants and asks us. What a novel concept huh?
  23. Totally agreed Pamela.... Sounds like Ebbe is making an excuse for them having years of poor / failed delivery and horrid customer engagement and poor priority setting. From what Ebbe said... he seems to realize or know that there has possibly been major unknown factors (what ever these secret factors are that we have neve been entitled to know) that have always been in place and no Executive Management was able to resolve or not aware of. So this means to me that Ebbe knows of these major roadblocks... then Ebbe is implying that he can FIX IT? Years of no progress on the Commerce Team maturing... I am skeptical that Ebbe can solve it either.
  24. A brief twitter discussion thread tonight regarding Marketplace and Commerce Team. Seems when I expanded the issues of Markeplace speed that Jo brought up to Ebbe to be much bigger than just MP speed, Ebbe stepped in to say that maybe the Commerce Team was not given the chance to succeed. So.... after sending him a link of the laundry list of issues Merchants have had and brought forward to Rodvik in 2012, he understood but still thinks the team seemed to be doomed to fail. My response.. :) So that means Ebbe knows they were / are doomed and will do something to let them succeed ... We all have heard this before ... lets see if Ebbe will fix this majorly broken Commerce Team model.
  25. I briefly went through this lengthy thread. This does sound similar to an issue a while back. But, can anyone that knows the details of this currect Commerce MP screwup provide a summary of how an MP merchant can check if this the screwup has happened to him / her? If it was like the last similar screwup, there was no way of checking as there is no transaction evidence available to the Merchant. It was only a matter of an honest customer telling a merchant they got your content and didnt have to pay for it. This was the reason some Merchants applied a ON REZ script on the vendor prim to get a clue that a new purchase happened.
