LL did not remove gachas because people whined about them.  People have whined about clubs/djs/hosts begging for money since forever.  It's not as if LL can stop that and club owners sure won't.

My point being that if enough people get tired and "whine" about something, then something will be done about it! LL didn't just wake up one day and decide to remove gachas. They did it because enough people complained about it being a violation of their own TOS.  Also, I hadn't meant that LL would do anything about clubs but rather the club owners would.

  2. I agree that it is annoying and I, too, have no idea when the host thing started and I've been in SL for over 15 years. However, your well thought-out and written opinion will be served better by exposing it to the owners, DJs and hosts rather than here or you'll get more people like BelindaCarson above, commenting in the same way. Btw, Belinda, what she wrote isn't a pointless whine. I'm sure many made pointless whines about Gachas too, according to you, until something was done about it.

  3. Have you done a search of your recent inventory?  You can reset the filter to look for items purchased from a few days to several.  I recently searched for something I purchased a year ago and I found it in no time and I couldn't remember the name of the store either.

  4. I only use BD for taking photos.  I can't explain it but it definitely is breathtakingly beautiful for photo taking with lots of very useful tools that no other viewer has.  Other than that, I wouldn't use it for day-to-day logging in and getting around especially since I've never been able to master walking in BD.  I use Firestorm for my general logging in (i.e., when I'm not taking a pic).

  5. I never make a request but I always tip something to both the DJ and the host/hostess.  If they're playing really great music, I'll even tip again a few times while I'm there.  There is certainly no obligation to tip and no one should make you feel you should while at their venue, but it's a nice way to show your appreciation for what they do and the costs they incur as well.

Whatever you think of her music or her character, she's made a career of nigh on 40 years out of changing her image. Strike a pose!

She's the poster child of someone who can't sing on key to save her life but yet made millions by promoting her sex life in the hopes to distract people from her lack of talent. While I definitely throw up at the mention of her name, she's an effing genius to have fooled so many for so long.

  7. Really? According to my news feed yesterday, YouTube "sensation", Carmen King is the Queen of SL. I kid you not! That was the headline. Miss Potty Mouth goes through a bunch of SL activities, from creating an account to...whatever and videotaping them for everyone's pleasure. While I disliked Dorian's vid (just my taste) and don't see any prominent SL reference either, I'd still rather be tortured watching it over and over than to be subjected to the "new SL Queen".

  8. First of all you're not being a Karen about it. You're being a Rocky about it. God, I hate that effing term! Second, why is this something to write about? If you think it's too much then don't buy it. If it's something you really want, then splurge. It won't kill you and doesn't make you a damn so-called Karen.

  9. To get back to your original question - if you have your own personal blog and you want to mention how terrible a store owner treated you, blah blah blah, you have every right to do so. However, if your blog belong to feeds you risk being dropped by those feeds and not because of LL TOS but because of rules set by those feeds. If your blog isn't associated with feeds then have a field day. Just don't fall into the negative Nancy syndrome or no one will ever want to read your blog!

  10. I just recommended SL yesterday to a Facebook friend who's daughter is a senior in high school. I guess the daughter and her friends were joking around about having a virtual prom since they can't have a real one this year. Of course, I piped in and said it wasn't a bad idea and left a link to Second Life and told her if they needed help to let me know.

That's how we as merchants learn about isuues so we can fix them.

It's amazing how many people won't contact the seller. I've had to do it a number of times especially when I'm at an event and can't buy something they forgot to set for sale. A number of occasions the sellers told me they wondered why no one was buying their items. If they don't know, they can't fix it!

  12. Marketing!

Back then you'd find articles about SL in newspapers and magazines. Even TV shows hopped on the wagon and created episodes about SL even if they didn't actually say the name Second Life. If people know about it, via some sort of marketing, they'll at least be curious and log in like I did almost 14 years ago. Whenever I mention SL to anyone now, they give me this blank stare and ask what the hell is SL. This explains why all of the Welcome Areas are empty!
