  1. Linden Lab's should be to do list which it seems like they wont ever improve SL where it needs it. 1. Account Security, it needs to be improved with things like multiple secret questions when registering, email, or phone verification when you login to SL so that malicious hackers cant just login from any IP address and wipe your inventory like they did mine with nothing LL could do to fix it. 2. LAG, people complain about it all the time, I know that Each simulator in SL has its own IP address, and Linden Lab gave us privacy when they added the only be able to see avatar agent on (X) Parcel when user has it selected people cant see you inside your parcel from outside you cant see them, however can't Linden Lab add something better the option in the viewer only to render all content within (X) Drawdistance meters to all neighboring sims so that basically a person can have the option not to load all neighboring regions and get lag because of so much to download. ( How this could improve the sandbox) basically if sandbox goguen is being griefed because scripts are on, and I am in a neighboring sandbox with no scripts and like to keep my drawdistance at 512.) and some griefer is spamming particles everywhere I have the option not to render everything on the other region just everything in that one region, as well as if I am entering a RP sim with like 15 or 20 sims connected to it, or mainland regions and want to render only (X) sim or IP I am connected to instead of all the sims around it too creating Asset lag on the viewer. This would go a long ways. 3. Edit Terrain bug when you do not have rights to a neighboring regions and you try to raise or flatten your own terrain like for instance you are not an estate manager on their sim and it tells you that you cant edit terrain. 4. Improvements to Intellectaul Property rights giving any user the ability to report stolen content a person is wearing, or rez in world basically if someone creates intellectual property in SL for example and notifys LL that they are the only ones with rights to that content any user who reports content unauthroized basically can be removed by LL without the use of DMCA unless the actual creator made it. For example LL can easily tell what content is stolen by looking at the creator of the object, and asset ID's on an object so basically if it says (Bob) Created the textures on a prim that says (Philip Linden) But (Bob) files a notification they did not give anyone else rights to that build or textures, anyone reporting multiple copies will be quene up for investigation and blacklisted the forged copies. After all LL says they are not responsible for inventory or asset loss in their agreement right. 5. 3D terrain Instead of highlight terrain. (Similar to mine craft in a way.) 6. More God Rights over your own regions such as region rename, or region move instead of having to pay LL to do a rename for example this could be limited every 6 months or so and if more than within 6 months you would have to pay a fee for example to prevent abuse. 7. Way to stop griefers from creating multiple alternate accounts like 500+ accounts by actually require email verification, and RL Information. I know they all wont be stopped but because its so easy that is the problem. 8. Go back to age verification to get into Adult Regions. (No ID No Entry) 9. Realistic enviormental effects like Rain, Snow, Water, Lava, Lightning, I mean a system that works region wide, and can be controlled by Estate settings. Yes I know there are in game systems that do this like with particles and objects that are phantom but I mean more realism. Instead of LL wasting money working on path finding all the time these are changes that would benefit users now not later and also attract more players into Second Life especially if users knew their accounts were actually protected, and knew that they had ways to deal with the griefers, as well as create new 3D and realistic terrains with an in game editor instead of the highlight field. These are things that would make users want to actually play SL again, I know that in SL using a 3D editor to edit terrain I could do better than I could with a highlight terrain lol.
  2. This could be a false postive due to the fact certain microsoft install programs like redist have similar codes when installing it tends to install to a random disk drive with a number like such so some virsus use long ID's and maybe the coding or the ID matches a defintion in the antivirus. You can freely clear your cache though although I am not sure texture virsus can spread through SL I would avoid using Media, or Browsing websites in Second Life just to be safe. A few peeps I know of say virus can spread through .JPG files and such however not sure its true but if it is its best to watch what you save on your pc from the internet for example.
  3. If you have a CopyBot viewer know that there are a lot of rogue copybot viewers that have been developed by a rogue third party company, and they have been putting password loggers in their TPV viewers, do not use the viewer or you risk your Second Life account this is how a large number of SL accounts whom I have seen claim to be compromised have been compromised due to TPV's, and third party CopyBot viewers. In general though its legit to BackUp your own work. Its not okay to Copy something else of someone elses with the viewer however or you risk getting banned from SL, even if its to modify it. Instead ask the merchant if you can get mod permissions and they might do it. As for most botters they come from that one Girefer site and they do not care about being banned due to the fact MAC address & IP is easy to spoof and bypass hardware bans issued by Linden Lab so most griefers do not care about getting banned from Second Life they just make new accounts and import again and again as many times as they have to. The CopyBot source was removed but I just happen to have the source for it which is why I would recommend if you use a modified Bot Viewer for any reason you compile your own downloading third party bot viewers risks your SL account, and they are using anyone who is not a VIP, or Preimum user. http://www.sluniverse.com/php/vb/general-sl-discussion/80414-hey-guys-kinggoon-users-gets.html Check this article for information on the bot viewer thingy.
  4. Linden Lab is not responsible for any third party websites including paypal, or a LandSellers, you go to these sites at your own risk and enter your information at your own risk. 1. The best option I can think of is disable all browser add-on's including Flash, Java, and Restrict cookies to prevent virus/hijacking/password phishing. 2. Do not use the same password anywhere. 3. Do not give your Credit Card information to anyone, always use paypal, make sure of the policy with your issuing bank on unauthroized charges because the FBI will investigate, aka FDIC. 4. Do not authroize Automatic Payments/Billing Through PayPal, Manually login to pay it. Never give out your RL Information, and know that by sending payment through paypal the person who gets the money will get your RL name, and possibly shipping information in which after they have that a hacker could possible go Doxing on the internet to phish your identity, have friends in with a company aka spies, or hack a computer to obtain your RL identity, and use it for who knows what. If you are paranoid and want to avoid this all together pay in L$ only, then they only get your avatar name. Although I do agree that Linden Lab lacks security and needs to improve on it due my account that was hijacked which contained UpperCase, LowerCase, and ASCII symbols and was still hijacked password never used anywhere, bottom line is any user who even plays Second Life is not safe at all, and rumor has it that some TPV's excluding Malicious Viewers contain password loggers in the bianary files I think they call it, so using any TPV could cause your account to get ripped off. LL does need to add the security so that all user logins from X IP Address require Email Confirmation similar to GuildWars 2 when signing in from a new IP address, give us the options to enhance our security besides a password that can be hijacked through TPV's, or take responsibility in at least giving users the option to have their inventory reverted/restored. Had LL, have had this account security in place, and also alterted me like EVE Online Does when someone else logs into your account, my account would not have been ripped off from me, but their failure in security caused it. I know my computer was clean too run three different scanners myself, so it only left one thing which I found suspecious in one of the TPV's I installed, and I quit using that viewer after I saw the rumors online about it and what happend, but either way if LL had of had this extra security I would have been protected, and I believe its something They really need to look into. Although I know the group of people responsible for it, it does not seem that the FBI, or Police care that this group of griefers is not just CopyBot's but they are also Carders. And honestly I believe I know the Land Companies you are talking about I have seen the large land barrons, and personally I can't stand to rent from them the reason I owned my own sim before I left SL for the main part. My reason was because to me all they were interested in was Money, and Profit, not keeping consumers happy, charging more for tier then what they were actually paying in tier and I mean a lot more, as well as not caring about CopyBot Users copying avatars on their regions. I know some people say its not their responsibility, however when I called it out to the people they said Let LL Deal with it not our problem. And the proof was provided its just pathetic some of the land companies in SL. I know this happend over 2 years ago, but its not something I will forget when a lot of merchants I know of were harmed by Griefers.
  5. Sephina Frostbite wrote: So know how you feel. When I first started I bought this amazing skin for cheap. I didn't understand copycat and all that stuff was. It was taken from me because well, it was counterfeit. I was scolded for buying the merchandise. I was humiliated. Someone finally explained all the logistics about it. But it sucks having something you love taken away from you. I know exactly how this is with newb people buying skins not knowing much about Counterfeit, or Bot. (No LL didn't screw you over, although I Agree LL needs better security, they also need a way to verify RL information of registering users, and limit the number of Botting activity.) Want to know whats worse is logging into Second Life one day to find that someone wrote on your Profile Male & CopyBotter, and then finding your entire inventory deleted of over 50k items its worse, I know the group of people who did this to my account BTW, its just sad LL doesn't keep backup. So buying One or Two skins isn't really that much of a loss considering I had probabily hundreds of dollars worth of items I can never get again removed. I would just stick to the merchants you know and trust the big stores here are some of my favorite stores. 1. Dream Inks 2. LAQ 3. Curio 4. RQ 5. illusory These are just 5 of the best I can think of off the top of my head. Do keep in mind that the market place, and in Game Mall's/Stalls often have stolen content or counterfeit content for sale, if it looks too good to be true check profiles, know your merchant before you buy otherwise if it gets removed chances are they cashed out anonymously before they get caught selling stolen items and banned therefore you get no money back. Over All experience, I have found some Land Owners, RP sim Owners, & Mall Owners, helpful at removing and returning counterfeit items in the past, However there are some communties that just dont care, and this is where you have to watch out shopping at. And to tell why My account was hijacked from me, its simple I got on the nerves of the biggest theft group in SL, and I hate to say this but even some 2005 accounts are in the counterfeit theft ring as well, I got names, and Dirt on a lot of people in SL all around, I even keep names of merchants using IP Logging tools, and if they are naughty or nice. Its simply what I do, so what I am saying is watch out whom you buy your skins from. Personally it was an arrow to the knee, but at the same time (Legally) A lot more bots got banned, and punished and lost a lot more than I ever did. If you actually need help because you do not have any skins I am sure there are likely some free skins within some of the popular stores in SL or something. As for DMCA, in the actual MMORPG, Industry there are scams all the time in Second Life people will attempt to sell you counterfeit items cash out before they get banned, and then you risk loosing what you purchased if its not legit, while there are ways around DMCA complaints and content being removed I dont want to give ideas to people who could ruin those I know. Even Entropia, and EVE Online, Both these games have scammers in Jita for example people spam constantly selling Plex for 500 million isk, but instead they put it for 5 billion if you are not careful you buy it and have that type of cash there is nothing the game company will do about it, and in Entropia there are people with known reputations for being scammers, sadly virtual currency scams for Real Money is common in any situation you have to be careful whom you trust and who you deal with its that simple, don't spend what you can't loose as for me loosing anything I really didn't loose anything because its all virtual assets all data is still on LL"s servers I Just choose to stay legit as possible, rather than doing things to break the TOS, although I don't even bother with SL anymore except for checking the forums and seeing if any actual people I once knew have logged in thats about it.
  6. 1. The animation has to be owned by a person the person who uploaded it generally has the Intellectual Proprty Rights, Over that animation assuming that they created it themselves did not rip it or anything like this. 2. If the DMCA filed was a false claim the solution is to simply Counter File the DMCA. 3. LL doesn't go through invetories each Animationis given a UUID similar to your avatar key which is basically a line of numbers LL just changes it to point to another UUID such as a default cube or animation that is not copyrighted. 4. All this means is that LL has removed that animation, or item from your inventory and they just send out an email to notify you that it was removed, If you are the original creator you should counter file if not there isn't much you can do. I suggest only sticking to popular stores and merchants like Akeyo, Vista, and such, do not buy from market stalls unless you know the actual merchants or people, and always keep your Media, and Voice disabled to avoid viewer scanning, and IP logging in SL lots of merchants still use systems like Red Zone. And also those Freebie AO's you get a lot of them do contain stolen animations from Permissions Exploit in the past, I remember griefers who walk around SandBox's selling AO's and items of leaked content to others which is then later removed, or gets you into trouble for having and not knowing. The reason you only buy from trusted merchants. 5. 4 Years ago it was possible to Permissions Exploit. Animations, and or upload assets with another creator this was patched by LL not sure if its still possible anymore, and DMCA claims on items really don't do any good as a griefer exports content to hard disk and can go to any freebie sploder get some L$ and upload the animation over and over again each time getting different UUID's from different accounts linked to different MAC/IP addresses that easy spread them around as freebies from there. I know that a lot of peeps I knew of left SL because of what some griefers did to their SL companies during griefing things like thieves motherload I still see Full Permissions Exploited content going around today in SandBox, and such as a result to these exploits back in the day. 6. Which btw reminds me how a user can use and access a UUID without consent of a copyright holder in SL simply by using LSL Scripts aka. Set Texture. Play Sounds & Animations simply by UUID which to me if they don't have consent is a violation of the IP rights, Problem is merchants don't have control over information uploaded to LL servers such as removal of own content and such although it could be abused by a merchant themselves it would better help in some cases.
  7. I agree with this, and I will explain why I think this is bad, and yes it has to do with Griefing yet again. I like the Old Tutorial the way it was a lot better than the new place with all the doors because it added the newbie experience to it more like learning how to use Second Life, and the old SL viewer was a lot better than Viewer 3 it was more simple to use. Even now that I can stand viewer 3 a bit I converted it to look like Viewer 1 for the most part in everyway I can I absolustely do not like the V3 experience. I remember starting Second Life in 2008 learning the basics of SL starting in a welcome area learning how to build, what building and scripting was and that was way more fun than going into a RP sim and getting yelled at or involved with griefers. There was one time when I would say the doors were not bad, but times have changed. Back in Like Feburary or March of 2009 when I entered the RP community for my first time, I almost accidently crashed a sim with my hud on because of its laggy radar probes and yes this was the same RP community that went bad today and supports griefing, and CopyBot but they used to be over 28+ sims back then. I actually had the owner of the sims who was respectful tell me to take it off, it was a simple Apology for not knowing, and removed it no problems. This was before the sims decreased to like 11 sims, and the Jerk started to run things and not care for SL as a whole. Every since then their community has declined so many ways its not funny. Fact is I have been told by others they are scared I am around using alts and trying to find whom I am or whatever fact is I do not even want to be in their community they are that much of a disgrace to me now. What I want is the stupid idiot out of SL, and an actual leader to take it over. I can only pray someone else takes it over or something happens so that ownership changes for the sake of the developers in SL. The Reasons the doors are bad. If a newbie so much as walks through a door they find themselves teleported to a simulator in Second Life where it be a RP sim or not, and they might accidently break the rules get banned because its a private simulator and LL Doesn't get involved in residentual disputes, they might be yelled at as you describe without a friendly greeting as a newbie. I checked the RP Teleporter, and that RP simulator that supports CopyBotting of merchants is in there, there are lots of them and due to TOS I can't give the name, but newbies are landing on that simulator daily, the people who run the place are absolutely Terriable, I debated them for 2 years almost about one person who was there Copying my friends work constantly and they did absolutely nothing at first it was just griefing but it turned into theft and got a lot worse, all they did was take a griefers side, ban my account, and ask me to prove it wasn't my account, which obviously it wasn't. At least until my account became compromised by a griefer I don't know what they did with it but I did recover it I really don't even use SL now though. ( And to answer it was the people related to this RP sim who compromised my account I am sure of it, well might not have been the same person, but they all come from the same group of griefers, I know that. Drama and Witch Hunters These are basically people for example if I went over to some RP sim and accidently broke rules, or Griefed because someone gave me an object I stupidly rez it and got banned, A lot of RP simulators are breaking the TOS in Second Life because they Defame other residents by spreading their name in warning groups including their own without consent, and tell everyone else to ban them, so if some newbie breaks the rules on an RP sim imagine how much drama they could get into when they find themselves banned from 5 or 10 other RP sims because of ignorant people who don't want to take the time to help a newbie for breaking rules. Yes it happens, and Yes those Red Zone, and CDS systems, and Bot Detectors are not helping SL as a community such systems need to be Banned from Second Life because RP simulators are using them on people without consent, even the meters you wear I can't give the name of the one im talking about again due to the TOS, but its got a chat logger, and logs peoples IP when they visit the site without a privacy policy. Why Linden Lab did this is just beyond me, but I think the reason they did this is because Second Life is going down the drain I wasn't the only one to say this so have a lot of good people I know who are fed up with griefers as much as I am. But the reason for doing it is to keep new people joining these RP sims and communities, keep people who spend money happy and the more money they make the longer these RP communities will stay around, and who gets the profit Linden Lab of course gets a cut in it you see. Now people say you can avoid the drama. This is all true, but allow me to explain from my experience. So I joined a bloodlines RP in like 09 for one year we had no drama, no griefing and if so Inever noticed it, late 2010, our bloodlines group starts Giving out Thefted content, I bring this to our leader he decides to do nothing about it bans me from the land ejects me, I contact Linden Lab, File Abuse Reports, and Notify the merchants of all the stolen goods they gave away to me too I never used them and they are out of my inventory. Yes I could have avoided the heavy drama that came with my bloodlines group, and with these other RP sims if I just never said anything let them all break the TOS act like a dummy. My point of what im trying to say. What I am trying to explain is that Drama, and Grief seems to revolve around a lot of RP Gorups & RP sims in Second Life so bringing a bunch of newbies into this type of communities just ruins their experience in Second Life, its what happend to me basically when I saw my members breaking the TOS I did not want to be around in the group anymore, I tried to respectuflly ask our Founder to stop supporting Griefing they wouldn't LL did nothing due to lack of proof the Cover Your Own A** tactic, and it worked they never got banned, and these groups caused me all kinds of trouble. Personally the bottom line is. I run multiple anonymous blogs and make many anonymous posts on the internet, I really don't care about the TOS when these people break the TOS and IP rights of others, Sure I have to follow the TOS here, But Outside of SL & Its forums thees griefer groups will be exposed, Any friends that are taking part in these groups will be asked to leave, and if they don't I will remove them from my list, I do not want to have anything to do with people who are griefing others. The best way I have found to avoid the drama. 1. Run your own Clan, or Group, you have all the say over it. 2. Only play with your best friends. 3. Do not join a big community unless you are good friends with owners/founders & admins. 4. Stick to yourself for the most part you wont have my problems. With all this said. When it comes to RP community some Sim Owners, & Admins Are just pathetic they are a waste of space in SL, and in my opinion should be held liable for damages done to the merchant community when they knowingly support griefing, theft, and yet alone yell and newbies to Second Life. But as long as they are paying their Tier Fee, and not breaking the TOS themselves LL isn't going to do anything. (( LL Doesn't get involved in residentual disputes.)) ((LL Can't restore Lost Inventory.)) Some Merchants are Pathetic as well, just because I am in favor of the merchants doesn't mean I like every merchant in SL some of them are rude no support at all, others have been very nice, and for the most part like one out of 20 merchants I knew was a jerk. Which leads to another question. 1. Why was woodbury removed so much everytime they came back, and why was Reddit removed from the grid, but yet these bloody RP mega sim owners are not removed? They are doing the same exact thing these other sims did where griefers were rumored to come from these sims or hang around there.
  8. This type of attack I believe if its the Blue Box is called the Dialogue Spam Box. Dialogue Spammers can do a bunch of different things the original grief back before FireStorm had anti Spam was to crash a persons viewer, now its not so easy anymore if you have your settings correct. However there are exploits which can be used to keep a object from being able to be muted and use it to constantly send green messages, and possibly dialogue/objects to a user over and over again which can't be muted, and the time it would take Linden lab to respond this could go on for hours. I had some griefer do this to me for about a week straight it wasn't as bad because I found out how to deal with it but still it was annoying. To be honest there really is no way to fully guard against griefer attacks you need to learn how to use your viewer settings properly, how to use Advanced settings, God Tools, and Advanced Debug Options, and Derendering options. Knowing how to use these will keep your sim from being griefed as bad it will also prevent you form having to be graphics card crashed, CTRL +S for example I think it was is a shortcut for sit down, basically this fixes it so objects cant push you around no need to rez a cube anymore can be used in mid air, and things like Derender graphics card crashers, and opening your FireStorm settings setting antispam to low. Then for example if you get dialogue spam, Look in your local chat for a green name, or object name if you see this click it and click mute owner. Besides you can always disable dialogue perm. for awhile in your viewer settings so you don't get any at all if you are getting griefed and turn them on later thats how you prevent it I am sure. Also do yourself a favor go into your FireStorm Privacy settings and turn off broadcast look at so people cant see whom your looking at, and turn on show look at. Learn the commands like FLR, GTF,DD X Draw Distanc Here, GTH "Xmeters Here" these text commands can be changed, but will be very helpful. Other Things like WireFrame, and Double Click Teleport Enable are also great too. OverAll what I am saying is once you know your viewer straight up you will be able to laugh at all these griefers fail toy huds there isn't a thing they can really do to you, and of course you need to be able to do things like disable ur rendering types in a matter of Seconds, go to ground in 1-2 seconds and be fast at it. Whatever you do do not click the link. For your own safetly. 1. Do not click links in dialogue boxes as these can log a persons IP address, browser, and or viewer information. 2. Watch out for Redirect Links which can route a person to a fake marketplace login which can be used to phish account information. 3. Always turn off media before you go on another persons parcel in Second Life, this prevents CDS, Red Zone, and any other IP logging system from logging your information, a lot of clubs in Second Life use alt detectors even some RP sims this will prevent it from being able to detect who you are if you havent been logged already. 4. Do not use your in world browser as having to have (JS) Javer Script & Cookies on puts your computer at more of a risk than using external browser so use with caution. 5. Watch out with VOIP as IP can possibly sitll be obtained from there, and watch out for fake Linden Employee they will never ask your for any account information. 6. Common sense one, DO not accept unknown objects from strangers, Wear or Rez them they can grief others get your account suspended or do malicious things to your land if you have land rights and such. 7. Also wearing any Hud in Second Life, or any type of RP meter can give away your IP address, and personal information including alts who have also been logged so watch what you use too this actually goes for any object but it would mostly be a hud or RP meter that would have such in it.
  9. Yes the Numbers of people who actually want to play SecondLife are going down, I will provide the reason why I believe such is happening. 1. No Last Names, This was a big mistake with Linden Lab Removing Them. 2. Griefers the number of griefers I have not seen as many griefers hitting sandboxes as much lately a lot of them have left to other games now not saying there are not trolls around because there are and griefers still exist. 3. CopyBots control the SandBox, if you are like me you can just look at a persons profile and tell if they are up to no good, not only that but you can often go by a sandbox and find bots wearing stolen items. 4. Yes some people are leaving because there is nothing to do in Second Life. Well actually to say there are things you can do but the most common RolePlays have Drama, Griefers, Spies, and even CopyBotters, the worst of it all is that some sim owners in SL support this type of conduct but uses loop-holes to avoid getting banned by LL, and they ban anyone who actually questions it they banned my account from all their sims because of one griefer who ripped off this merchants entire store passed it around in the sandbox and did nothing about this griefer. This merchant was one of my favorite merchants it makes me sad that he quit SL, but you can see why he quit, even if his profile doesn't say it I think he quit because of the griefer. There are very few communities worth joining in Second Life like a Military Community, or Starting your own group of friends and doing something like bloodlines but if you join an existing group always expect grief drama, and owners of the groups or founders whom don't listen dont care. Personally I ask before joining any group now what their policy is before joining, and make sure they are going to follow the TOS & Uphold before I join if not I dont want to be part of it. 5. Lack of account Security, Your account gets compromised "LL" Cant do anything. 6. "RolePlay" Why roleplay in Second Life when you can go to www.mmorpg.com and play an actual Role-Playing Game. Compared to 2000 MMORPG's like Defiance, APB Reloaded, and Mech Warrior Online have became more realistic, and there is no point of even using Second Life its a money sink all around unless you create and sell content. I mean back in 2000, and 2001 or such I think it was when SL was first being developed it was unique, now its not anymore and almost every MMORPG supports ralistic avatars, even some with VOIP built into the game, even the Mech sim in SL that I played in a few times I think is loosing business because of Mech Warrior Online. What I am saying is Second Life is still very Unique but your average gamer doesn't want to waste Real Life Money now, and the most SL is good for is Yiffing, or Chatting with friends, or RP the adult stuff you can't in other games thats about all. 7. During the time I still played SL a lot before leaving I had a lot of mesh on my sim I didn't lag much I love the new mesh support its great, I hate the abusers who like to claim copyrighted work as their own though. 8. What SecondLife Needs. Is something innovative something that is unique like a actual good MMORPG hud in Second Life and MMORPG system that combines MMORPG + RolePlay, Cheaper Tiers, Better Account Security which allows Lindens to restore hacked accounts within 30 days for example, Better Housing/Land rather than 512 plots what about instanced housing instead with a premium fee or something. It also needs Last Names to be put back, Less Griefers, CopyBot's gone or dealt with easier, possibly more Lindens working, and not just acting on DMCA. But a Neighborhood watch where players can report Stolen Content, Lindens can investigate and remove it, and to be honest it doesn't require a DMCA, if they already have a DMCA on file from X Hair Creator saying they are the only ones with a patent and I filed a report on someone who ripped a hair infront of me there is no reason they can't immediately ban that account remove that hair in world/blacklist after they inspect and verify the hair UUID's/Textures Match that hair creator. ( And yes I know this is all possible.) Over the Years. Since 2009 when I came over to the Adult Grid I have seen many sims come and go places I used to play in that no longer exist, I am not defaming the following people. Toxia RP sim used to have 3 or 4 sims now to my knowledge last time I saw in world only had one sim? New Jessie, Combat Sim open to all closed down. NoR, They had 32 regions at one time, or 28, now they are down to 11 sims? GOR, I Remember Pidemont, and Fantasies, the big cluster of sims, lots of them are gone now. DCS , The region still exists, but I remember the time when it always had people doing combat in their little arena good times now its just a shop. These are the good times I miss Second Life going back to 2009, When things were not as bad as they were now, SL Started its decline since 2006 when the CopyBot came out to the public, and its only getting worse due to Linden Mistakes, and Griefers/Bots, people are leaving SL its just not worthit the high costs when you get burn out like me, and tired of ignorance. http://secondlife.wikia.com/wiki/Libsecondlife To be honest about it all the BOT itself didn't destroy the grid, or cause any harm. The Ignorant griefers did, sure it was leaked or got given out however whatever I don't care. But it didn't have to be abused, and if it wasn't abused and merchants I know of were not abused they would still be playing today, but a lot of them left already at least ones I know were tired of it. This is my reason to why I think SL is on its decline, not because of Mesh.
  10. I made a purchase one time from the Chungs and I actually got the L$ this was years ago however. 1. Linden Lab will not get involved in third party transactions it is your own responsibility to deal with such. 2. When buying Gold, or any Virtual Currency for any game always check the delivery times most companies offer Live Chat on the site which you purchased the virtual currency from, always check that they are in stock and ask them any questions you may have before delivery such as how long for delivery place your order get your currency. http://www.anshex.com/ Check out the box on the bottom left of the screen that says Live Chat Online now. Basically ask your question here they will ask for proof of your order and provide them your paypal transaction ID or order # which should be in your email. If they did not deliver it to you I would check the site for the live chat option. 3. If they have not delivered your product before 30 days you have the right to file a non delivery purchase with PayPal, and if PayPal refuses to refund your money then contact your bank and file a dispute here, however false claims can lead to legal issues so be sure you did not get the L$. I have followed these steps and not a single time have I lost any actual currency and those who failed to deliver my orders got paypal complaints and they get enough of those they will finally get their PayPal account locked which is likely if they are actually scamming people whoever the company maybe. There are thousands of virtual currency trading sites on the internet for games like EVE, Second Life, ETC.
  11. Yes thing is they paid $150 to have it moved to the sims, now the residents had disputes they are behind the Tier fee because no one is paying for land, and they really need to get it moved otherwise be out Tier + $150 move fee becuase of the dispute. I can understand somewhat why it costs to have money but LL should move sims free when there is a situation like this and residentual dispute. After all both parties from what I hear filed tickets asking becuase they really both at this moment have the extra money to be thorwing out at the moment one person owns like 20 sims I think and the other has a single region there where they had an agreement but management turned out to debate eachother and go in seperate directions to be specific one person raging cursing out the other more than the other one and as an owner they owner doesnt feel like having the drama or passive grief over it they want to do the right thing and move but are stuck there because of the $150 FEE and LL that can't move it. http://www.metaverse-business.com/regionweek.php Perhaps this is why sims are going down the tolit so much after all if a person actually owns a sim why residents can't move their own region anyways is a bit beyond me. GF sims pay $195 a month and non GF sims pay $300 a month why there is no free move in situations like this. Is " LL " still profiting im sure they are likely but still the sim loss. Look at how many great sims there once were in Second Life that are now "GONE" Perhaps this is also why hardly no one that I even have on my friends list has a premium account. After all the L$ stripend is really crap, and when we really need support its a high fee? I thought about going premium account myself but whats the point when we actually need support or something done we can't get it. These are some of the changes LL needs to make to policy or something, I mean its been a few months now I know at least one of the residents tried hard to settle disagreements but it just didn't work and now is time something gets done to settle the peace.
  12. Yes here is another one. So two residents decide to allow a simulator or person to be a neighboring partner. Then after giving mutual consent both have a dispute after a month or a few months and decide they do not want the sims to be next ot eachother anymore because they both decide to go seperate themes, or perhaps one person decides to raise their land 100 meters high, make the textures black or something else who knows. I call this griefing. But after both parties filed support tickets Linden Lab says they can't help out and that griefing is covered by the governance team? 1. Technically this is a persons land we are talking about if a person wants to raise their sim 100 meters high they are allowed to even if its being annoying to the other near by neighboring sims or whatever. ( This is not an official banable offense by Linden Lab.) So the question is why can't Linden Lab just randomly relocate a region in a situation like this instead of asking for $150 its beyond me its not like it is that hard to go Admin > God Tools > type in coords and move region. Unless there is something to it I am missing? Why can't Linden Lab give residents the right to revoke neighboring regions, support tickets were filed but they give the incorrect answer twice and gave me a link to an article on griefing which doesnt cover passive griefing like this. Is there a certain thing the parties should do just to get them seperated besides pay $150 just to break the sims up both parties are not doing great with their small sim rentals right now one is doing very bad, the other one has a few sims empty and quite a few parcels empty too. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-deal-with-abuse-and-harassment/ta-p/1339983 Heres the article they gave about griefing. I do not see it covered here. The second response was talking about governance team takes care of any griefing? I don't know maybe its a new Linden or they are confused about what the term passive griefing is. Passive griefing is basically when you do something thats annoying in any game or service which actually doesnt break the Terms OF Service or result in any punishment to the users account doing it.
  13. I have read the TOS a few times don't really care about the TOS much I just use common sense, and not do illegal things, or well at least you know COYA when you have to actually do something. SPAM,I hate it I know there are laws about Spam emails but for starters I get spam emails about Viaga and Pharmacy all the time with no way to opt-out. In Second Life for example I know about the merchants and owners or scripted objects they buy which registers subscribes people without agreement to a spam list I hate this and would appricate me having to click the subscribe button to join their group, or be asked first. TOS in a BOX, Violation of Intellectual Property Rights, or TOS buying items. People say disclaimers in profiles mean nothing so I say your FULL perm texture or Sounds or whatever you are selling mean nothing allow me to explain. While I respect the merchants who have Intellectual Property rights and have no intention of buying your content or giving it away full permissions I do debate the legal matter that you sold them to me with full permissions then tell me that by buying I agree to the Terms OF Service, or Terms OF Sale after buying. I was not legally bound to any contract with you, and just a statement in a NoteCard or on the market place isn't legal. Now if Linden Lab would act on a DMCA take down request if reuploaded and given out full perms its likely but if a person used your UUID's on the textures you uploaded full perms and gave full perms its likely they could counter file and file a report for false statements meaning it would have to be debated in a court. Machima, or Videos. On my computer I will do anything I please take snapshots anywhere I please, or video, maybe even audio there is nothing to stop me from doing such. Generally I don't do such without a reason, while I might be breaking Linden Lab TOS there is no official way for Linden Lab to prove that I have taken a snapshot or video unless I start harassment of people in Second Life with posting links and such in which they could suspend/ban an account for any reason or no reason at their own jurisdiction. However video posted to YouTube, Twitter, or MySpace, you would have to take it up with them, and to be honest I have filed complaints on these sites for harassment and as long as the video doesnt contain Nudity, or Real Life information just Avatar Names they actually will not remove the video without a court order and its not in LL's jurisdiction so 99% of the time nothing will happen. Lets just say that while I do not like breaking the TOS I have broken the TOS and I admit nothing to hide, I exposed groups of Griefers on YouTube, and constantly keep a list updated on google about people who are illegally CopyBotting, Sim Owners who allow it, and such. I am not the only one doing it I do have a few friends who help. However when we post we post their User Names, and Anonymously so there is not removal off the search engine therefore anyone who searches their Second Life name will be able to find their history and connections with such people its a simple concept and a good way to get the news around, however as it is done anonymously there is nothing that links me back to it in SL besides my word. Keep in mind this only happens to the bad griefers, and people supporting them so 99% of the time no one really cares except in a few special cirumstances. Sexual Content & Nudity. Linden Lab should be doing more to protect minors from this game I started SL when I was 17 years old I knew the anatomy so to speak and I knew what adult content was but what gets me is those who are younger than this age in Second Life, no Age Verification, & people who do Age Play its just sick. I believe that by Law Linden Lab should be required to verify Age or ID of each persons account and content should be sorted out between G/M/A This would mean that Linden Lab actually tries their best to keep Teens in their own rated land and so on. It should be no different than a BAR in Real Life that requires ID to enter, or to purchase alchol. Bots Not all bots are bad so to speak I find bots in games to be great when used with API's or used for good purposes without wearing laggy items or such bots can serve many great functions 1-2 bots on a large parcel in main land isn't so bad. However there should not be bot restrictions on Privately owned sims as this should be up to the sim owner. To me and I have said it Since my account was Hacked by a known Griefer Group. Linden Lab in my opinion doesn't seem to care much about Second Life anymore, I don't know if I am wrong but it seems like they could be doing much more for the residents, as well as be making more profit off subscriptions and such. Second Life is old TRUE, But it could be updated more to provide a better experience, and More security could be added for sure to make sure accounts do not become compromised along with backup of peoples inventories and such. LL seems to be just breaking Second Life more and more since I started SL in 08 I have seen many dumb things done. 1. Not require ID or age verification to get into an adult sim just say you are over 18? You used to be required to show ID. 2. Last Names. Linden Lab removed last names now people have to be like XXBobThe Avatar XXXX just to get a name they like then use display names? 3. Lack of Security features compared to all MMORPG's on the market today as I have explained quite a bit. 4. Not keeping a backup of peoples inventories. 5. Spyware on the grid. 6. Griefers Galore? Change IP, Spoof Mac Address, Swap out modem to DSL connection, Grief and crash 50 sims get banned repeat all day. Do this in someone elses name for the laughs, I know because a griefer did this to me. PROFIT??? I mean come on I am sure residents can think of more but where is the CEO & Big cheese here. It honestly seems like Linden LabHas became as bad as Gamers First, and I know I could certainly do a lot better if I was running this company its too bad I don't have the millions to hire devs and start my own Grid like Second Life or even better because I would. These mistakes should have never happend some of these changes were stupid and pointless.
  14. I really wouldn't worry much about basic skins and nudity. The reason is becuase if a Teen 13 years of age is playing the game for example and doesn't know Male/Female anatomy they shouldn't be playing the game if such is going to shock them I mean as in viewing the skins art wise seeing it when they are dressing for example or such. AgePlay, and walking around naked everywhere being nude is a different story, or roleplaying exposing those under the age of 18 to adult content. After all World OF Warcraft has nude patches, and so do a lot of other games. Some people forget that nudity, or nude is also a part in Game Design, and Art.
  15. http://spaceweather.com/ Nooo we are all going to get Flared to death http://www.jesseventura.net/ Fact is no one seems to know exactly when it is going to end but a lot of people think of the calendar, and times as on a 24 hour period when its not all 100% accurate based on the Maya I am sure winks. Not saying the world is going to end today never know when that will happen we could all just be sitting here and our sun might explode, or giant solar flares might head our way fry all our computers which btw is why I stick my hard discs in a metal trash can shield them from EMP when not in use. Maybe some UFO's will come to earth and decide to start blowing stuff up, or the government will do something stupid like in those Syfy movies who knows winks its all possible, oh wait Zombies are fake? Well I enjoy zombies, but who knows unti lthe time comes if they are real or not World could end at any time folks no one really has an exact date that I know of, then again you got the conspiracies
  16. Seriously Linden Lab can we get some Lindens on this post, the CEO whomever that is or whoever is running Linden Lab to seriously Fix this service/Game/Simulator/World anything you wish to call it? 1. Lack of last names to choose from, why this option was removed was completely stupid. Give residents back last names possibly allowing them to create their own similar to DarkFall, GuildWars 2 etc. 2. Lack of Security, may I say again how much PHISHING is going around and how Linden Lab has failed to do anything to prevent it. Look every company makes mistakes but now is the time to Learn Linden Lab my loss of over $300 worth of inventory assets that are unable to be recovered should prove this enough to you all assets that could be worth THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS because they can never be obtained again. Second Life requires no security question, no Login IP Confirmation emails, No inventory backup incase of hacked account, No Secondary Password, none of this. Basically if someone gets your account name and password in any way you can get screwed your bank accounts can have thousands of dollars charged to it and quickly laundered out the person may never be found. 3. AGE Play, and Adult Verification, This is another problem I see is Teens/Kids under the age of 18 accessing Second Life and the ability to get into adult areas it is stressful not knowing if the person I am YIFFING is an adult or a kid under the age of 18, or let alone the groups who lure teens from the Teen Grid that merged with the adult grid into adult content. Social Media is a problem. YouTube, Twitter, Myspace are a problem you see, for example if you find a harassing post online about you but it doesn't specify your Real Life identity they allow it to stay because of the First Ammedment right. While I agree in free speech this is being abused by CopyBotters, and Griefers, posting Copyrighted content to their forum hosted outside of the U.S, and then linking it on sites like YouTube & Twitter which are U.S based services, these sites then refuse to remove the websites which contain this copyrighted content because they can't prove it, or because they have no access to verify that it is actually copyrighted its just pathetic. You see not only copyright, but gamer tags if you get taped without consent in any game they can post it and it wont be removed even if you said things you didn't want others to know also leaving the door open to harassment. Like it or not. Second Life is done for, in my eyes its dead as a simulator, or game the only people really still playing are addicts and a ton of alts/their friends really at least this is the way I see it. Lots of people are leaving lots of my friends have left Second Life because of how bad it is, bad decisions made by Linden Lab, and reasons like griefers. Even merchants I know of have left Second Life popular ones because of GRIEFERS, and full perms permissions exploited content going around SL of theirs. While I understand Linden Lab can't protect every users bad things do happen, It has major room for improvement, and I don't see anything coming to protect us for years of complaining about Linden Lab not fixing it normally a actual MMO company would have added this protection quite fast for hacking/phishing for example, but Linden Lab they don't. What I don't know is how many Linden Employee are working for Linden Lab, or where the Big Cheese is who is supposed to be running Second Life sure I see all these games like patterns and lindenlab.combut I want to know about Second Life. I have used Second Life for 4 years now before I finally am leaving SL except logging in checking on things once in awhile seeing if my naked avatar is still where I parked it and I see how broken it is how much fixing it needs. I dont know folks. It just seems like the Lindens Have given up on Second Life, moved on to other projects and left it as a stand alone service with minimum customer stupport, of course this is just an opinion I can't speak for all the Lindens or the company but just what I am thinking.
  17. Yes there is. 1. CDS is supposedly an Anti CopyBot system but its been abused over the years and logs IP addresses without users consent through media to obtain viewer information. The creator claims it doesn't but he can't prove to me it doesn't violates my privacy rights by storing information UUID,Key Name, and Possibly other information without consent, defames my avatar, and Second Life by telling everyone I am a Bot which obviously I am not winks. 2. Red Zone, did the same exact thing but was removed. 3. There are Other Anti Bot systems that do the same thing supposedly I have never been flagged by this one yet supposedly it asks consent, do not give it consent if you go to any clubs using it. To avoid being logged. 1. Turn off Media, Leave Media Filter On, Never enable media at a parcel or club for any reason if you want to play music use the link through a proxy program such as TOR or a secure IP hiding application. 2. Turn off voice I am unsure if the IP logging exploit still works through voice but it did at one point was possible to obtain IP addresses of everyone on SL voice. There are a lot of Clubs in Second Life who do the illegal IP logging, I can't really give the names here although I really wouldn't be breaking rules I wouldn't think I don't want to take the chance of doing such, but I can say that these clubs are well known and well designed clubs. Also RolePlay simulators and huds do IP logging through their Websites without telling anyone, and track peoples alts this way, and possibly through huds you may attach, so be wary of where you play and what huds you put on same rules follow keep off media, keep off voice. Also another thing I am uncertain of. Do not load URL's in Second Life. Turn OFF Java Script when visiting places you don't know of or Links you are uncertain of there are over 1 million computers compromised due to Java exploit. Turn off Cookies as they can contain tracking cookies that log Information without consent. Since Second Life, and LL is a U.S based business I honestly believe LL should warn, and ban anyone in violation of another users privacy, but its sad they don't unless a lot of people argue, and then those I know of who constantly brag about Linden Friends and nothing gets done Ive seen Griefers, Trolls, and Griefers Sim Owners supporting IP Theft, and worse and LL does nothing. ); Yes IP Addresses are Public Information, but in the wrong hands people still use IP addresses to Out other peoples alts, Grief, and Troll others without consent.
  18. 1. Do not use Real World bike names for any reason, Real World names can be DMCA claimed. What you really need to know is who file the claim for example I know someone made a FUS-RO-Dah hud there were 3 on the market place a DMCA was filed against one creator his was removed but the other two were not if this was not filed by the Skyrim Creators then it was a FALSE DMCA removal. I believe that LL should provide information on who files the DMCA TakeDown Request such as if it was a company or another player. (If it was not the real world company, for example then it was a false claim, although you should still ask consent before using real world trademarks, names, or sound alike etc, even if the name is different and an exact model for example turbo squid or such.) 2. If your builds were actually your own, you are 100% sure you did not use anyone elses build, sculpts, license rights, or any look alike, similar names, or real world trade marks, then you have a right to Counter File the DMCA, in which to solve the dispute LL will likely restore your items, and any other disputes will have to be settled in a court. I know some people troll file DMCA's however I have seen this happen );
  19. I find Second Life Jobs Stupid, no offense but unless you are getting paid $7.00 at least an hour or $5.00 its not really worthit as a Job it will never replace work you could be doing in Real Life making more money than you woudl in Second Life. Now if you enjoy doing something, then do it as a job, if it was concerts, events, for example, screw the place you worked for start your own, no reason to work with someone thats not paying you and no one makes you. There are a few communities I have seen in Second Life over the years which allow Harassment, Griefing, Breaking the CopyRight Laws, and Much more, I tried to point it out to them nicely at the start, but they refused to do anything about it. Sadly even when a person breaks the SL TOSThere is not much you can do unless you are a lawyer, or Have a Lawer, or just File an abuse report which sometimes nothing even happens then without absolute proof and LL catches it. This is the way Second Life is sadly, and the way its going to be Until LL cleans it up. The only real Job that I find really worth doing in Second Life is creating content.Because your work actually sells if you can come up with some unique ideas, other than that do not expect to get paid much other than sploders, and when I talk about money I mean like $4.35 USD or 1k L$ an hour in the most I have never seen any jobs that pay well, maybe I am just not looking good enough but most everywhere I have been its cheap pay not worth doing. If someone chooses to do such then so be it but I don't I have better things to do with my time then spend 10 minutes for 2 L$. Do keep in mind that if you really aren't getting paid like around 2k PER hour, and you do not enjoy doing it, and you are from the U.S then it really isn't a job its moreless a Hobby something you enjoy, and I say use that 8 hours of your RL time off work consider you work 8 hours a day, sleep 8 hours, and do whatever for 8 hours to enjoy it. Do keep in mind that. Clubs, and RP communities, are usually where all the Drama, and bad things happen at when you run into ignorant owners, which no offense because I know there are some great communities in this game, but I know there are some that allow this griefing, or harassment you talk about in the OP and do nothing as a manager it is just pathetic. While I can't give names here you can use google and search these places before you work for them, or play in their community if there are any blogs, or drama related anywhere like FaceBook, or Twitter their names will often show up and if you see this do not work for them, or play in those communities. If you do its at your own risk. Even in Real Life, Your Boss, sometimes looks up your name on the internet, checks their workers facebooks, and twitters so its always good to watch what you post or what is said because it gets you canned if you don't, unless of course you are like me and don't use any RL information on the internet, and file TakeDown requests on anyone posting things containing your RL info thats not you. The other place harassment happens is welcome areas like WaterHead, Violet, Ahern, and Public SandBoxes, its quite common to see these things.
  20. 1. Mute the Bot 2. Second a NoteCard to the owner he likely will deal with the bot. Yes its annoying bots and blood suckers sucking people into bloodlines ); happend to me so many times when I was a newb.
  21. Vortex is a Linden Lab sandbox right? Because if so sadly all you can do is file an abuse report, and sadly sometimse it takes Linden Lab hours to ban the griefer, and sometimes even if the griefer gets banned the sandbox is still filled with griefs until auto return or a bit longer depending on replication of objects and such. Linden Lab, responds faster to griefers who target Private Estates, Than they do a public sandbox, so building in a private estate sandbox might be better as the ones I know of usually have moderators watching as well for griefers.
  22. I know Linden Lab does not like me saying this here, and I got a warning on the forum yesterday for Raging, I will now post it without raging. As of November, 27,2012, some Griefer managed to get hold my account password, and login to my account. They deleted every item on my account which was like 50 thousand objects including BackUp objects. What however was most shocking is that Linden Lab keeps no Backup's of your inventory, if your account gets compromised for any reason, and you are on your own if your inventory gets deleted, even if you spent thousands of dollars should a merchant no longer exist in Second Life, or should they just say I do not give replacements you are at loss, and there is nothing you can do. This is something Linden Lab doesn't really tell everyone, I am sure its in their TOS if you read it all but some people skip over reading TOS on many services. I do not understand why they can't keep a backup, but that is me it seems like they would keep some sort of backup on everyones account, or provide users this option at an extra charge or something, I know if I had of known I would have paid to make sure my data was safe. For the record, I did file a complaint with the police, will anything be done I am not sure, if they are in the U.S then chances are they are under U.S Law they could be. The reason I was able to do such is because while my actual financial information was not compromised, assets which are unrecoverable were compromised, I can never get them again, and given the fact I paid Real Money for this and that money is lost even if it was just $0.01 cent technically I can still file a case in a court, go through the police, or the FBI for this matter due to loss of real money. With this said, I am thankful to the merchants in world who have been helpful in recovering some of the lost items, it is not all replaceable, but it does help as honestly with Tier and everything I do not have $300 to go buy back everything I lost because of this. However to talk about the solution. What I failed to do because I never knew anything this being the first account was keep an asset box, for those who don't know what an asset box is, basically its a cube, everytime you buy something from a merchant, you make a copy of it, you take that box stick it in a box, drop it in another box, and leave it on your land or somewhere where it will not be returned and only you know where it is. In the event your account in compromised, you simply notify Linden Lab of course, Change your password, run virus scans, and then you can go recover your back of your items. This is actually something everyone should do, something I knew others did but never knew why until now. The best option is to have a friend's land to stick your box on a 16SQM plot will work, and possibly keep 2 of them in Second Life so even if someone returns all your objects yours is still on your friends land and you are safe that $300 or whatever you purchased of goods wont be lost. While I have quit Second Life, and will not be logging in for much anymore I hope this will help some people avoid the same problem I have had to face when your account gets hijacked should something ever happen like this. There have been threats in the past to hijack my account, and honestly there was one time when my SL password was like 64 digits long, thats no joke, however when LL Updated the market place it wouldn't accept my so long password. There are however Security Measures Linden Lab can take, will they do such I don't know. 1. IP Lock by accounts, everytime a new IP accesses an account you basically have to confirm through an email that this is actually your account. This would prevent any type of viewer based hack, or basic keyloggers if just your SL password gets compromised. The thing similar to the Emerald Situation or worse. When I think about security I think about the worst, about what if thosuands of SL accounts had their entire inventories deleted right now because they were using a third party viewer on the list while they are approved by LL, LL still has made it clear they can never be certain if its secure or not. I know that Phoenix, or FireStorm are good viewers, people who work for them will claim no security problems, I know people who knew devs of these viewers they are good, but think about what if there was a compromise and the viewer got updated, it could put lots at risk or anyone on any viewer using anything other than Linden Lab provides. This is why this protection I feel is necessary. Steam, Blizzard, NcSoft, GuildWars2, Nexon, these are all companies with better login Security than Linden Lab has currently. 2. Market Place would also be IP locked when logging into the site, basically this would prevent fraud even more you would again have to confrim it is you logging it by email as well. Take for isntance accidently logging in through a phishing link you might not have time to even change your password before it is hijacked, and Linden Lab might not be open at that time. Another reason this email security is a great thing when done by IP address because it add's additional layers of protection jsut incase the unthinkable happens. IP doesn't mean much when it comes to griefing getting a new IP is easy, but I think it means a lot more for security unless someone physically or hijacks your IP address which I really don't think happens much, or unless you auhroize a proxy. I can see that the Linden Lab, website has changed a lot, and I wish that important changes like many things I have suggested in the past would be implimented by Linden Lab. Believe it or not even if Linden Lab doesn't keep backup of inventory these simple security features would have protected my account, and many other peoples accounts who I have done a search on google and found to have claimed to have been compromised as well. I don't know about many, but I know that quite a few of the people I know have said Second Life is dead Linden Lab is just trying to make what money they can out of it they are working on new projects. I don't know this being true or not more of an opinion, but I believe that SL could be made more Anti Grief, and Better Security for protection on accounts so in the future this can't happen to someone. Although I can say that a lot of places I once knew of that were great in Second Life are gone, they no longer exist, and I have yet to find more like them, even some Popular Merchants I know of are gone from SL because of Griefers, I know because I tried to contact them to see if they could help me get my items back incase I should ever return to SL to actually play again, and their profiles blank, or they say they quit Second Life. As for the claims my password was simple it was not a simple password and it was changed multiple times within the year of 2012.
  23. Do not enter your Second Life Password. When you attach the hud in Second Life it creates a login name for you and a random password based on avatar key/uuid. when you login I believe it is. 1. Your SL UserName. 2. The password it gives you, there is a command for resetting your password through the DCS hud I forget what it was its in the help notecard, or tells you when you attach it I not use it for a long time myself. Do not use your SL Password however.
  24. Thanks, I got advised about a similar phishing tactic just recently. Also it appears griefers are using in world objects to offer free gifts to people and when they click sigin in and provide username and password it could put their account at risk. Also it might be best that all users manually type their password in the box, do not have it set to save on their pc I believe this is the way my account was compromised although I do remember one link that was sent to me on my friend list and I did sign in before checking the link all it takes is one little mistake though and goodbye account.
  25. lordfariq wrote: Last week I cashed out some Lindens through a 3rd party. I didn't get any confirmation, email or anything. I had not used this exchange before but they seemed legit and have a presense in SL. Now, I have sent them emails, but nothing. On their website it show my transaction. Do you think I am worried too soon? Xchange4ls is the company. Instant OrdersShow allOrder No Type Date Amount Out Amount Status Payment method FC5B4163 Sell 22.11.12 17:41 9,000 L$ 31.87 USD COMPLETED SecondLife Payment can take up to 24 hours. If this is you first selling order, it can take up to 72 hours i read at the site saying that payment takes 72 hour its 3 days rite? and now is 29 i send 4x email to them none reply at all so thats why i feels like i have been scam by them. no paypal funds recive from them. Linden support said they don't get involved, but how can they not if I'm not paid? What is the steps from here, or do I just wait? i hope linden support can remove this company from the 3rd party exchange list since this company not doing the exchange but scam people. I know not to do this in the future, but wonder if anyone has had any dealings with this company? First, If you pay for any transaction through paypal you have 30 days to file a dispute if that doesn't work contact your creditcard issuer and file a complaint there. Usually I get my money back any time I file a dispute. Yes this also includes game companies that deliver but ban your account if they lock you access to your order you technically still have 30 days to try to reclaim for non delivery. Second, If you are talking about cashing out your Linden Dollars in world such as a Market Or Exchange Terminal, or giving them to another person in faith they will send you the paypal amount value, or third party website. If they do not do such then there maybe nothing you can do, because you did no transaction through paypal. I really wouldn't trust any third party service, or vendors for that matter there is always too much security risks deal directly with Linden Lab, or only buy through paypal, never use exchange terminals, or cash out through them its risky business. This doesn't include legal issues, or Complaints with the FTC either, although if the companies are not located in the U.S then there might be problems. Any Lawyer, and detectives I am sure can find anyone especially with fraud transactions but it takes time, and lots of money to do this especially if the person doing all the scamming is behind a proxy, and thats assuming he didn't steal thousands of dollars then burn his laptop, and doing this from a FREE-WI-FI Location. Linden Lab does not support third party transactions, or disputes between residents they never have, now if there is a terminal in world where they are ripping people off then you can file a complaint there and if they get enough of them maybe they will ban or remove that persons terminals, and or account until the dispute is resolved.
