  1. Which is why I don't understand the logic of increasing group allowances to premium members as a bonus when its been said group spaces are already "a burden". If its a burden on resources then take it away regardless of what level of account they have, don't add to it and give out something else in return of loss of groups like increased stips, increased Li on mainland parcels. I might be wrong here, but is it not also an issue that limitless amounts of free alts one can make that would also contribute to this? As well as hoarding of extra inventory etc?? My worry is that basic accounts are being seen as freeloading accounts and thats really is not fair as many free accounts add so much to the Linden economy in other ways. Do we dare even mention the issue of Linden houseboats already lying furnished but never lived in much like most of Linden homes are now. More resource waste !! I rather free accounts keep their groups other than some premium accounts bragging rights only property clogging up the servers. If you take it, you live in it !! Otherwise give it to someone who will. That's more resource wasting on servers than will ever be .
  2. Been premium for a long time and I will continue to be a premium user so as although I feel the perks could be still a little better for Premium members, I find it important to keep an extra leak in funds to keep the grid going. In reflection to this, I do grimace at the past desicions made with Linden Labs running that made life for its overseas customers far harder, be that Linden Labs cut so much down over the years, the loss of jobs and regional offices in many of SL's hosted countries. If California is so darn expensive then move the operation to a more profit reflective area. But that's the problem I have with LL, its the lack of transparency re its accounts, its ins and outs and why the need for the price rise costs. If we could have that and its justifiable, then its really not a problem. Which in fairness they should offer better accountability, especially where customers are now beginning to call out companies not delivering quality products to its customer base as in balance to cost. Which is something LL really want to stay out of, if EA and Bethesda are getting it in the neck, its only a matter of time before the albatross necklace is ceremoniously passed. We live in a era of accountability and that's all there is to say on that. I just feel with the attitudes happening to inworld , its lack of structure, its lack of lower end permanent staff as a customer resource far more concerning and would rather the increase of funds go towards providing a better and more secure product. Where is the money going ??
  3. TY Venus, I found the problem which was down to Firestorms latest bug infested viewer. No issues on the official viewer at all. Thanks
  4. I think one of the issues we do have is numerous, first is your own ISP connection. I live in the UK and seen my connecting rates go down significantly while we wait for fibre optic tech to be installed. As we are held to ransom by the slow transfer rate of copper cable, this also affects how far it has to get to the LL servers. If Linden Labs created ghost servers or at least servers in most of the main user countries, then the download rate of content would not be so bad. Its something Linden Labs should start seriously investigating. many other game companies have several servers in several countries, this is why these run 10 times more smoothly. LL as far as I know don't do this and if they did, would find many inworld issues improve a lot. Also is the issue of sculpts mainly sims that use an amazing amount of high rez textures and scupted objects inworld. Mesh will eventually help this issue out, as the fps strain/ render cost algorithm on mesh vs sculpted items is a huge difference. If you take into consideration all that coming at you to load, plus avatars with well over 2k of scripted items on them (AOs, HUDS etc , many of which are badly scripted to begin with and cause so much lag inducing issues ) and again perhaps wearing a lot of render heavy scupted items...well its a lot to say the least no matter how much ram or the GPU you have. My downloads on many sims are reasonable , but I know one or two places that use so many unrepeated texturing, a lot of sculpted creations - that my GPU just screams at me. And I know for a fact I am not the only one affected by the poor fps of that region. What i do is blacklist those sims and go about on the ones that are pretty decent without jerky frame rate issues. It won't solve everything, but it will allow you to enjoy SL a bit better than you have recently. Just keep the draw distance down to say 170m, have a big cache allowance in preferences and you should be good to go. Lets hope LL will take on the server points.
  5. Picture this, you find a great place in SL, you get the camera angle right and click to post a feed. The shapshot sticks on processing for what seems an age. You relog and try again - same scenario, so you relog again... and lo and behold same processing time failure. So therefore you lost your picture and no feed. For what seems a while now, the wonderful new social stream that is the Second Life Feeds seems to be having yet more tantrums regarding the downloading of snapshots. Seems a shame, as the feed is a great idea that should give instant info on cool places and things going on that normally we would not know about. Seems that its been borked up a week or two past, i know its not my connection or PC, its a pretty resonable spec. When are Second Life going to sort this feature out - I know nothing is 100% reliable, but even 50% is good right?
  6. I agree with Vivienne totally on this matter. For a long time we as metazens have been creating a circle of economy for Second Life, while they themselves develop a leech system in order to take all - give nothing back. And when it does something - its too little too late , or the factors of it is totally out of step and sync with its customer base. Lets look at it this way - Linden Labs are in essence charging people to make content for them in order to create a stable economy for themselves, not place anything back to the people who have invested into it. As Second Life is indeed branded a place of freedom of expression ideal, a place where making and finding a job is easy - create things and make money. Well its not that easy nor will it be. I mean we pay the upload costs, buy the content we need to create things, pay tier to place homes or shops/entertainment on. And yet they still find the nature, to place a percentage cut on anything we sell on SLX/ Xstreet/ Marketplace - whatever. Added to this factor, if indeed they wish a more interactive virtual life where RL laws and standards are bombarded at us for every level, then perhaps Linden Labs themselves should be taking this upon themselves- to prove they are practising what they preach. Any city council or government which they themselves seem to model themselves on, all have responsibilities to its citizens. And where indeed are the Lindens loyalty awards? I dont mean to those who own multiple sims and cutting a swift deal to lower those costs. I mean the ordinary person who is providing content or a service in SL, that provides lLinden Labs with a stickiness factor to its community? Where are the awards for successful Secondlife small businessperson of the year? The fair tribunal court for banning and ARs- The development of placing community tier free land to those who wish to provide Second Life with quality content? - I tell you, its nowhere. Even I placed a letter to Linden Labs PR department disussing the factors that apart from Torley Lindens ramblings, there is nothing of significant reward for its metazens and still months down the line , I am still waiting for an answer. Mind you, considering Linden Labs past faux pas with deciding what they wish to see here and not what we want to see here attitude, i'm surprised they have a PR dept? If they have one, its not a very good job. LOL - so if any Linden is reading this, and there is a paid vacancy - ring me up . Yes extreme, but its worth thinking about. I mean would Linden Labs allow and employ a think tank of normal metazens to be a consulting team? Not a chance. But as this is a topic for meshes, I will say this. Yes its all very well to look great, create wonderful high detail stuff that this outcome will bring to Second Life. But unless the structure of its basic operations - both in its business running and inworld development rate improves with it, then its pretty screwed. We are gonna be charged through the nose in upload fees, high land costs to display our creations on and such like. So before we talk of meshes - I think Linden labs should do the right thing, open up its market to equal purchase public buyout shares and let the people who do care about it - RUN IT!!
  7. I left you a message on SL, I'm interested on your comments which rightly so should be highlighted. I agree with you an many points although I feel your approach is somewhat flippant, but useful none the less. Better to have a solution as well as your personal feeling. Hope to hear from you soon
  8. lol...good on you dearie - I'm not gonna give you the comedy award yet though
  9. LOL...The very reason you answered my opinion on that subject with a flippant and somewhat obtuse remark based on nothing, yet attacking me publically and somewhat rudely on this matter must have hit you on a personal note. LOL - so I'm right. Yes there is massive room for improvement for the current way Second life deals with its engine and its working physics. I myself am not happy with the way SL deals with many things, especially to the many content providers that place things for free here. If LL bothered themselves to create better and direct links with content providers to listen to what is needed instead of employed people whose only reason for working for LL is the pay packet and little else, then the as you quote "environemnt which does not allow more than 20 visiting avatars at the same time without crashing" which actually is a pile of steaming doodoo BTW, we would have a more fluid environment . Secondly, your very answer shows you have no clue about proper E- promotion knowledge on how SL can boost marketing especially in the creative sectors. Anyone knows you don't use Second Life alone, you mix it with a whole array of PR generating environments. If you are lost on this subject, I invite you to im me direct so we can discuss these points in finer detail, but I think you wont But what is amazing, is your comment proves you have little or no regard to those who take time to create stuff for you to go to for free, who try to make your time here a little less boring and actually give you stuff to see and enjoy. But if this indeed is your viewpoint , fair enough. But... if everyone thought like you - no one would do anything, even designers would not bother selling clothing, hair etc. So frankly you would be bored, bald and talking to yourself , which for the rest of us might not be a bad thing LOL - You my dear - make me laugh
  10. AS I am currently creating a project in SL, of which at the moment requires long hours building, the appeal of mesh based imports would be a god-send. Detail is perhaps for me one of the key points of Second Life and mesh building would have aided in both time and creative imagination. The only thing I have concerns for is how expensive such mesh creations will be, seeing how few in number of people who are talented enough to use them. I worry that this might create a bigger exploitation of such inworld materials then there is already. I myself am learning to use blender, it is not an easy program to understand as compared to other competitor applications. It takes time and loads of man hours to perfect something with a worthwhile end result. Then also to think about, are the factors that is such mesh creations save prims costs, will LL again place up the costs of tier and land fees to compensate on this? Who knows. But on the other hand, I welcome any application that drives people out of the market who create such low quality grade things on the grid, and ask for unbelivably (and unreal by any RL standard) high prices in the term of commission work. Added to that, No longer do I have to directly IM the top designers (and very talented) designers here, some of whom seem to share an arrogance and self importance not to take on mutual reasonable commissions and sometimes not have the decency to answer back. As an .RL business developer in creative arts media, I can now go to any 3D application graphic designer in my local location, have a meeting, talk and discuss the project and and reasonable R.L fee and create my product. Its great for opening the path for others who have the business accumen, but not the inworld skills to create it perfectly and with high quality results. I think this move will create a bigger open market and it will be far more competitive for the existing designers to buck up ideas and change the way they think about business in Second Life
