  2. Something I have noticed since I started in SL nearly 4 years ago is that it seems like there are a lot of people who express distaste toward the idea of prim children and probably even more with a negative view of scripted tummies that emote into the general chat. I would really like to try to understand where this negative view of something like this comes from. I have my own theories, which I will try to keep to myself, because I have really really just been scratching my head on this one for a long time. To me it just seems like one of the most wonderful things we could be doing here is to celebrate the birth of children, the start of life, especially in ways that have the potential to be educational for people and/or maybe allow folks that for whatever reason can't have children experience this at least on some level. I've expressed before and do maintain that the prim children I have seen need much further development before they could be claimed to be any kind of really accurate simulation. Well at least the ones I have seen. Anyway, I'm really interested into the why's behind the negative press on this stuff. I mean if you think they are creepy, you do. That's your opinion, but why? lol. Really, genuinelly trying to get some understanding on this. Thanks and play nice <3
  3. One big reason I seldom voice (and never for sex play) is I do not live alone, lol. No one else in my house wants to hear me doing that stuff. AND no one else in YOUR house gets to hear me doing it either But like others have said, text is way more creative anyway and doesn't spoil the fantasy. It's fine, in fact better, if it's less a live thing than something that sets up for both parties to have their own fantasy later in more private conditions. It's actually not that hot of a thought to me to imagine (or even see on cam) someone going through strange contortions on their journey to 'get there' whilst sprawled however ungracefully in their computer desk chair. Speaking of spoiling the fantasy, and this has nothing to do with sex. I was helping out with a friend's upstart club one time. I happened to be one of the dancers. I don't recall the person's name and wouldn't tell it anyhow, but the DJ was this big ole brute of a demon. Probably 10 ft tall and 5 ft wide across the shoulders. Quite a hunk even considering the obvious fact that he was satan spawn. He took the Stream and played a couple songs then did a voice part. It was Poindexter! I facepalmed in RL, mumbling to myself 'oh god, please just shut up and play music, you RUINED it!' lol
  4. Because you just stay quiet at home too? Just be yourself and enjoy. If you're not comfortable talking, don't, but IMO you have every right to. I was brought up with the whole 'children should be seen and not heard' thing quoted as if it were scipture. Well, guess what. It isn't, lol. This asking ages sub-topic (should probably be a seperate topic actually). To me it would seam pretty irrisponsible for people that date and sometimes enjoy adult activities not to inquire about age of consent, knowing there are minors sharing the grid before things move along too far. Not only for both parties protection, but to avoid someone being majorly disappointed. I did post a topic about it once in fact. I found it very curious that so many people will ask RL gender yet they never ask if the person is even an adult.
  5. Oh dang it Freeroos, now you made me want ice cream I think some of the things you said apply to some, but certainly not all, and I do hope you didn't intend the assertions to be as all encompassing as it seamed like they came accross. But everyone has to go from experience. Yea, there's a lot of that type of stuff in SL. Perhaps you've yet to meet the people who can only be their true selves here because whatever in their RL prevents it, thus...they have only this world... I have to strongly disagree with any comparision between an RP game like wow (wow is actually only borderline RP anyway and it's RP community has shriveled in the least 3-4 years to almost nothing). lol, I've never met anyone in wow claiming to be expressing their 'inner gnome' no matter what their stature in RL or how much they may have just been joking, and people there don't consider it a life, but a game, and the characters there are game characters. And wow does have it's share of obsesso-freak video game junkies. I guess for people that only use RP sims in SL or use an alt to RP, then SL might be that shallow, and sure it's true anyone can cook up the other gender avi to go explore options. That's actually light years away from people that make an avi that is the expression of them inside and commence to live it here for better or worse. It's not even close to accurate to say it's extremely emersive RP. Not even in the same universe, sorry, it just isn't.
  6. Clarissa Lowell wrote: Pussycat Catnap wrote: I work it out because they're cheapsaktes. Look at what Tiffy posted after me. The economics of it, in relation to the time put in. Only a cheapskate is willing to sit there for hours to avoid having to pay for a few cents with RL-money. And only an abusive person is willing to take advantage of that. Newbies get a pass because they don't realize the economics - how cheap linden $s are, especially in that range. But it is pure exploitation to take advantage of their gullability. Taking advantage of and abusive are way too strong in my opinion. What's abusive about giving someone money in exchange for a service? A lot of the people log out or use bots when they sit and camp. I never understood camping either it's so much easier to just buy $5 worth of Linden or shop for freebies. But if they want to it seems like a bargain that is understood in advance. It would only be abusive if they called them filthy names during it or refused to pay after. I'm trying for a little humor. 'Taking advantage of' is one of those phrases that can be taken a different way depending on context, connotation and all that. A person can be 'taking advantage of' a great opportunity and that is a possitive thing for them, which may or may not be the case for either party in a scenario like this. I think it could apply both ways depending on the proximity of the place to something like say for instance a newbie info hub. Abuse? Nah, I can't go along with that. People often sign up for their own misery even knowing full well what it is. It might be abusive if someone was chaining people to the chairs against their will, but again, I know a few people that might actually stand in line for something like that. lol, just sayin. But ya know, there's a 'buy linden' option right at the top of most viewers and it also pops up whenever you try to buy something you can't afford. A person isn't likely to be in SL very long without knowing that it's an option for them. Here's another example of something a lot of people feel is (or was) abuse. Vampire biting. My 1st couple nights in SL I was bit several times by some vampires at a club. I never bought a hud to this day and as far as I know am still 'in limbo' on a scan, lol. Was I abused? Heck no. It was hot. I was like oh neat, I'm getting bit by a vampire. I believe I actually turned to someone in the room with me and said that and made them come over to the PC to see it. lol, I didn't die. I'm not traumatized by it. I just went on with my SL. Someone got a few pints of blood. Maybe it helped their clan. I did win the contest there. Maybe being a good sport had a little to do with that. Not trying to derail the thread. It's applicable I think though because in almost all this stuff people have a choice to do it or not. And when you're new and it's just about linden dollars being game credits, it all goes to fun factor. If you're having fun, go for it, if not move on. And if you're trying to actually make money, probably best to check out some options other than camping.

I prefer a creative, funny pick up line to anything that starts with 'hey baby' or the like, but still yea. a lot of it make me feel like I'm on the panel of the gong show sometimes. Once when I was new I had this guy ask me if I wanted to go to his place and check out his rug collection. Sounded like the absolute most boring activity someone could offer. Later, I found out what some rugs in SL are capable of, lol. What comes in the IM is less important than how a person handles themselves in local. When I go out, I go out to be social. not to be dragged off by the 1st person that has an LM to a skybox with lovebed. Ultimately I guess I want someone that wants to share my SL with me, not pull me away from it constantly, and someone that's not an embarrasment to be out in public with (yes, I'm a snob that way) So if someone ever owned anything like a fart bomb or fake poop or the like, they need not apply. and loll I just realized that sounded a lot like the aggressive profiles described in another thread around here somewhere. 8. Hi Phil! The deal as described sounds more like a group discount than a giveaway to me. Person spends a minimum amount of money and also does a task. They got their stuff for 50 (or 49? 51?) lindens less than if they paid for it and just left. Chances are the merchant is selling more product/service than they would have been because of the promotion. I think if someone is only going to give another person 16 cents (for any task imaginable), then they are indeed being rude to put off someone that completed said task and didn't recieve what was promised. Both amounts are piddly. 16 cents is just as pathetic as 1/8 of a penny lol. Now if it's a fun sim and an enjoyable experience, then who cares. Knock yourself out. I loved picking money trees when I started. The whole concept was fun. I had a route down. I made friends with a few others I saw daily, I got to see some neat places. The RL amount was irrelevant as I was neither buying or selling linden at the time. By the time the 30 days was up, I ws gamefully employed in SL and had donated many more times the amount than what I'd picked back to the trees for others. Not eeryone cares the RL amount. I think the guy needs to have his script fixed or change his add.
  9. Beo, if you read my responses, then you know I didn't totally discount your claim though I did express it is unlikely and pointed out that from what you have presented, it isn't enough to rule out other possibilities. reading through the thread, I think the bridge/lsl thing has been beat to death. I'm not a coder but several here are. Though none have taken the time to disect it in the thread, I don't have the time or desire to learn coding well enough to be helpful with that so I'll take their word for it Just curious if you have tried completely changing your email at any time during all this. Reason I ask is a while back I had my wow account hacked repeatedly and I didn't know what was doing it. Come to find out, it was the email associated with that account. Once I discovered what they'd done, I changed emails and and all email associations/passwords connected to the original and have not had a problem since. Yep. was a major pain to do. It took the better part of a day and even several phone calls to verify I was the right person, but it fixed the problem. Thankfully whoever it was seemed to have only been after some quick wow gold and didn't bother with anything else or I'd have had them in my SL as well along with a few other things. I determined that hack was probably done with no scripts at all as the email service involved has a serious flaw in it's password retrieval/change system. (the security questions are too easy) and there's also a place that is not real evident right off the bat, takes some clicking around to find where one can set up an emergency email that overides everything. That means every change in the account gets sent directly to the hacker if they got their email in there before you had a chance to set it.

I made a third version, that is one head taller in the legs, which i like actually more i think. Quite lovey, both. And I do agree, do what pleases you. People were not stamped from cookie cutters. There's always going to be some variance. However, knowing the norms can help you sort out more quickly what is really causing the wonkiness when things get strange in the creative process. These are actually good examples of the breast phenomenon I meantioned above, particularly the shorter model on the right. If you compare to the chart, you see that when viewed from the front, they never protrude beyond the outer edgeof the torso. But.. we can get away with more here just because of how they behave, even with decent physics. It also goes to what we are accustomed to seeing in SL and correctly proportioned breasts would in most cases seem quite small, just because there are so many larger pair around. Mine are the same way btw. D's or maybe even E's proportionately but they behave like a C, and no neck/back pain so yay. lol
  11. I seldom look unless the person is either not in the same sim or if they direct me too, and I'm terribly guilty of not keeping up with friend's profile changes, even the one's that I know feel it's important. I'm more apt to be veiwing a profile if I am after a product and trying to find a pick or some other indication where to find what it is I'm after. With the aggressive stuff what I have learned is it's usually an indicator of something that happened to the person either recently or had a lasting effect. It's a place for them to express themself. A lot of times a person's demenure to be around casually doesn't reflect what they are grumping about in their profile at all. Maybe it was a good place to vent?
  12. It's like 1/8th of a penny USD by indenx conversion. It's even less if the parties involved shop aroud for better deals on lindens. Hmm, so how long do you have to stick around after you spent the minimum amount of linden in order to recieve the said 'bonus'? Someone else used 2 hours as an example but I didn't see where you indicated. You just said for camping and showed where they were claiming it was a timed thing. So the total is roughly 16 cents USD to each person that already spent ?? amount and plus stayed on the sim to help traffic. Sounds like they have a very cheap promotional system in place! lol So anyhow if they paid this out to 80 people a week, they would have saved one dime and in a year Two dollars and seventy five cents (approximately) I can't see that it would be intentional, but I agree it adds up and should be fixed. In the end the campers are helping the owner far more than the other way around. Just take his own suggestion and find a better way to make 50L. Seems like there must be all sorts of ways.
  13. Deformer? Care to expound on that Rin? (or anyone) I've been looking for nice mesh clothing. Most of what I have seen does not suit my taste being often loose fitting clothing to ensure fit on more avis, or unfortunately does not fit at all,
  14. Drama is just a part of life, and not surprisingly second life as well. When people say they don't do drama, my 1st inclination is to ask them wth they are doing here then, lol Pretty much synonymous with conflict, which is going to happen anywhere. And most of us love it in our movies, books TV etc. I can handle a reasonable amount of varying opinions if it's kept civil. I try not to minimize a person's feelings if I can help it, so I seldom aim the word drama at someone. I consider the word drama to be in league with words like entitlement and ignorance. They tend to carry a certain amount of agressiveness by simply being used (or more commonly misused).
  15. I think the addition of display names was a good thing, for many applications. I also felt that a lot of supposed issues with impostering were very weak as there are generally quick ways to discover the actual name. Although taking away last names does make that more difficult now since we have begun to see all the jonny800billions running loose. "Qwark...what's his real name? *right click profile...um Q8r7956Kiog33!..ok, I'll be sure to remember that!" That said, I do miss last names and never saw why in the world it had to be one or the other. I have a last name and I run a display name that is just a small variation of it. It also makes it nice for people that get married or have other reasons to have the same last name. I was always glad that the last names were somewhat removed from a similar popular real life name in most cases. I know some will disagree or just not care, but I still consider it ill advised for people to use their real life last names in PC activities like this.
  16. Hehe yes I was an art student and noticed the same thing early on as well. I've seen far worse than just a little off, done intentionally and IMO it just looked like hell. Very much Avasaurus Rex as you describe. Normally though it's just a little off but noticable if you have this type of training. Makes it like trying not to think about 'elephant'. Or in this case, maybe chimpanzee I've noticed on average breasts get exagerated too. Small inworld is like a C or D and a lot of avis I see just make me not want to see their chiropractor bill. Or lend them a wheelbarrow or something lol. Hands too. Lots of big hands around. and butts! OMG. It's like people go 'well my butt is bigger than that' so the only thing they change is the butt and nothing else and the avi is like 'woooomp' in the middle. Then you get the opposite. That whole move to reconsile the fact that land distances do not jive with body measurements. To look right, you're going to be a little taller by what those measuring boxes say just because of how the people editor stretches and squashes certain things. Yea, you can nail the height down, if you don't mind a little dwarfism.
  17. Chronometria wrote: A firestorm user reported that a new bridge was being made each time they entered a new sim. It was only happening to them though and not other firestorm users who responded. I dont know what it is, but something is fishy about bridges at the moment, at least for some people. My guess is they may have been exagerating. If you login to a sim with scripts off, the bridge will not create. It gives onscreen instructions how to create it yourself. Not sure if it would auto create when they moved somewhere without scripts blocked. If it does and they are jumping around sims and relogging/crashing a lot, that would probably explain most of it.
  18. I've been on FS since it's release and had no such issues. But I have always been curious as to what the bridge actually does and why it would be necessary to have one. So yea, maybe that makes some people nervous. Probably should start with the actual info from thier site about what it is and what it does. From thie wiki, if you click on the link for the firestorm bridge, it takes you to the page for the pheonix one, so..same thing essentially? anyhow, it's here.. http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_bridge Looking over it's listed functions, those are things I never really use, so I would be just fine most of the time to just delete the bridges if I was suspicious of them. I prefer to move about naturally rather than click TPing and generally don't concern myself wth things like who is flying around beyond my draw distance. But anyway, helpful stuff but not crucial to your viewer functioning *shrug I guess the next question would be is there any way this claim could be accurate? Where is the bridge gathering data and is that line of communication vulnerable to hacks? AND even if it were, would hacking an object in someone's inventory grant access to account details?..including accout password? Sounds rather unlikely.

The place I was at was a club on public land in adult that was advertised through the search. (The verified gender stuff was NOT part of the add. I would have never gone if it were) I understand I wasn't required to verify gender to spend money there or join their vip (to receive event notices) group, nor did I chose to join anyhow. I still agree with OP that this sort of thing detracts from the idea that we can make the life we choose here. Whether it's a rule violation or not, it's pressure, as OP said. But there's ways to apply pressure back. This post was a good start. Talking with your money is another. Don't spend a linden there if you disagree with what they are doing. Don't have your avatar there to support their traffic. Create groups the exact opposite of that.
  20. I'm not sure how LL would be unaware after being so hands on with you through 4 hacks. Seems like a pretty serious allegation. I'm not sure that what you've described is enough to rule out other possibilities. I'm no coder. Sounds like you need an expert to confirm the actual parts of the code in question?
  21. Sometimes creators leave full mod freebies out there because they want some things to remain free for new people They may also just like to keep their name in circulation. Usually the original packaging contains their wishes that it stay a free item. Many of these are widely known to a lot of residents that have been around for some time. probably most of us already have multiple copies in our inventories, lol. The creator's wishes or license can get lost as the items pass from person to person. I'd honestly just refrain from trying to resell freebie stuff. There's plenty of ways to resell stuff that is designed to be resold. Some from high profile companies that already paved the way to a good reputation for you. Have a look around Whatever route you go, it's up to you to be sure you have the right to be selling other people's stuff.

  23. These arent instant messages. It's a puplic forum where everyone can see all posts. I generally just hit the reply to topic button unless there's a reason to quote an individual but I don't consider that to be exclusive to them. I often reply to several comments by different poeople in one post. I guess that would screw up them getting replies in email huh? Unless they subscribe to the thread. I know how it works, SILLY (see? another example of how you uncaringly allienate people - is this crusade to 'clean up' forum posting so impotant to you that you make yourself into a form of griefer to address it?) I was a forum admin for several years on a popular site for a video game. I may not understand all the nuances of this particular software package but yea, I know what the buttons are for and what the 'reply to <dated comment> means. and no, I meant exactly what I said. You were all over me in the other thread till she posted, then when she did you picked up whatever axe you have to grind at her and went at her with it and were still at gher and another person when I returned several hours later after going to dinner. But you still didn't answer the question. Did you post some accurate data somewhere to back up the claim that people get AR'd for questioning Madelaine? How would you even be privy to such information? There's only one way that comes to my mind. Either someone you know was ARed after questioning her or it was you, yourself on a different account.
  24. I hope you'll pardon me not quoting all the relevant posts. All this endless quote of quote upon quote stuff on forums really drives me bananas at times. I can't help but notice though in the small amount I have seen Pudgy, that the minute Madelaine appears in the thread, you drop everything else to have a go at her. Yet you would wonder why people might feel like coming to her deffense? Somehow my subjective use of an adjective form in an informal opinion poll type thread has earned me a slot not too far down on your list of priorities, which is evidenced by the very existance of this topic. But you act (yes I belive act is the accurate term here) surprised that we showed up to respond to this pointed post done with backward sarcasm. I think you couldn't have summoned us more effectively had you burnt a pentagram in the floor of your cellar and boiled a goats head in your own blood! I don't know Madelaine well. We've never even been on the same sim inworld that I am aware. But I do consider her my friend. There's been more than one act of kindness that didn't go unnoticed. but hmm, 'Question Madelaine and your post gets ARed'? Would it be reasonable to guess that you may have questioned her in the same fashion that you did me? Perhaps even more obnoxiously to the point she and others felt an AR was the appropriate thing to do? I don't know. I wasn't there for whatever it was, but your own comments seam like they suggest something like that.
  25. PudgyPaddy wrote: Eileen Fellstein wrote: Griffin Ceawlin wrote @Eileen: Do they get to wear hats? No, but a lot of them were bald in true eagle fashion. lol As to my original post in the other thread, that struck a nerve with Pudgy evidently, the focus went to the subjective adjective 'huge' I used (perhaps a bit liberally - pun intended), but thinking on it, I really think my error in that statement was using the word 'percent'. Had I typed ''a huge part' instead, it would have probably come across a little better, making the same point. The issue with the other post was actually resolved right in the topic I think. It was sort of a flip-flopped sentence the person posted and it later became evident they were talking about the scientific theory that assets that genetics play some part in things. The other misuse (and abuse) of a word or phrase in that thread is when the OP of this thread came in with a flame post throwing around different variations on the word ignorant, all in bold. I believed it to be not only an attack on me personally but totally out of line and written in a spirit that wouldn't be taken as good natured debate in any arena (short of maybe klingon high counsil or something). And that's why I have that person muted on the forums and on the grid now. A good natured debate does not involve 'HUGE' amounts of misinformation. My post was not a flame to you, I don't know you and I simply do not care about you. I don't care if you and/or all your friends mute me. What I care about is the 'HUGE' amount of misinformation that is written in the forum. If you can't handle the truth then do not write falsehoods; it's as simply as that. You mute me but you respond (and a HUGE number of times) on my thread. Is your mute working properly? Doesn't seem to be, lol To begin with, the thread in question wasn't even about a debate of any sort. It was about a 'what would you think if you saw' type of scenario. I answered truthfully for me, but because of the nature of the question, most any response to it would have been opinionated or subjective. But hmm, I wonder if you can see that the 'I don't know you and I simply don't care about you' stance is every bit as offensive to others as your distaste for prople posting 'misinformation'? What about how often people offer a small slice of truth and attempt to twist it to their advatage with opinions, dogma, myths, rhetoric and who know how much 'missing' information? That seems to happen on both sides of any hot issue. I can turn on my television and see examples of it daily. But heh, someone's poll or research data showed that 'these people over here' that 'we do not know and simply don't care about' are insignificant in number and therefore are of no consequence. So you care about accuraty of posted data. How do you feel about how that data is gathered? There's an example right in this forum that I just posted to. Someone has a link to a survey about love and relationships in online games that seems to be aimed at people that play games like wow etc, with mutiple choice answers. How will that get accurately reported? Will some news host show a little graph that says 'this percent of people wuld like to be like their game character then it switches to a scene of people engaged in brutal combat? Would be like posting a survey to a wow forum that asked questions like 'Do you feel like you are actually making love when veiwing your avatar with another on adult pose balls?' or 'How much of your RL income is subsidised through sales of things made of computer generated pixels?' I don't know. I don't put a lot of faith in suposed 'factual data', when much of the data is manipulated to begin with. While looking around at some sites with information pertaining to the trainwrecked topic in question, I saw some things I found to be pretty scary personally, like one site that had a header where they chose to depict 'god' as looking like Zeus from clash of the titans. If the whole notion of them doing a presentation like that wasn't so gut wrenchingly offensive to my senses, I would have laughed at the irony of them using imagery that looks very much like that used in a movie based on mythology, particularly when the sequil is just out. lol
