  1. Hehe, I just watched a video on how it's all very scientific..

450psi on average to take a heater to the cup. But some guy has invented a new one that knocks it down to about 110. Look up nutty buddy on sport science on you tube, lol. It actually should be one of the one's on the side bar of the one I just posted on page 3

  2. Welcome to SL :)

Get ready to have all your preconceived notions challenged!

and no, you don't need any money. I know cheapska...erm...thrifty indiviuduals ;) that have been around for years and years and still spend little or no real money here. In fact for many, the money they do spend here was earned here to begin with and they may even be taking a little out to RL.

BTW, lol you do realize the situation you decribed of your RL situation sounds just as far fetched as the little scene you did a parody of (which I did enjoy btw, especially the wolf bit)

Just enjoy. And probably the places you can't get to is because you have not verified as an adult yet on the site. The instructions will be different depending on geography but login to the main site where you created your avi and look along the left hand side for adult verification. Just takes a couple minutes.

They are probably replying to me Perrie, since I was the OP. lol, the thread was posted tongue in cheek anyhow cuz well...I been away and missed ya all, even grumpy gusses like Funk-o-rama or w/e ;)

and yea, I aint the SL police but damn, it's like when you're at the baseball game and the pitcher  fondles the ball, plays with the little sack, and then um...adjusts something he shouldn't be touching at all and 30 thousand people pretend they didn't just see that.

Then spits on the ground just for good measure ;)

    erm...

Not sure what I am missing here. You sure you read my post right? I don't see an option for 'eject avatar' in that screenshot. ;)

Seriously I don't see anything relavent in that shot. And my post wasn't a question asking for help anyway. Moreover it was just to implore people to have a little manners when possible and think about how daffy it looks in the middle of a gathering for them to go into the edit appearance menu and  float there treading invisible water for several minutes (as far as anyone around them sees) while they decide if their nose looks chiseled enough or if one ear is larger than the other.

  6. both actually.

and yea, I've had to do it myself

    but still, ugh

    lol

and I've seen people start to dance and then decide they are gonna do a total make-over right then and there in the middle of a club, feet just a goin.

  7. Don't edit your appearance in public! :P

It's like showing up to a dinner party and plucking your nose hairs at the table.

Have some class. TP home, hit a sandbox, go to a freind's place, step around the corner..

anything but that funky arms out -  legs flailing away pose that makes you look like a doofus.

    k thnx

  8. You think it's bad here, try the wow forums, lol

And I know what you are saying.  It's like trolling in reverse. Generally a post is made which is not entirely understood, or maybe it's innovative, or doesn't reflect a complete understanding of the subject they are adressing but still contains some good thought.

Enter bass-ackward troll #1 who usually points out some error in the post or the idea behind it, not necessarily in a rude way.

within 3 minutes 10 other bass-ackward trolls see this and pile on like a football team does after the guy has already been tackled.

My 1st thought when I see this is 'what are all these people missing in the orginal post because there must be some reason the person took the time to type out their idea.

granted there are trolls that post sily crap just to see the reaction but IMHO this is way less common than the ones that lurk waiting to eat OP's alive.

  9. Thank you both. *hugs. And Dilbert I had that dream last night I think. It may be why I am awake so early lol

Waiting on breakfast now. I had to have a defibrillator put in.Quick procedure and prety much just feels like ai have a charley-horse.

I should be on my way afer a couple tests this morn :)

  10. Wasn't sure where this belonged best, here or general. But like I'm in the hospital and kinda bored and can't really download the SL client on this borrowed lappy.(well, I could but it tends to get really hot if I run SL on it. I tried before.

So anyhow, hi to all the regulars...and irregulars! Hope someone is awake cuz I'm bored!

  11. I'm not sure why you would want to support a place if it's as horrible as you say. You do realize that by even having your avatar on that sim or accepting any product from them that you might display to others visually in any capacity you are helping them? Also in so doing you are cosigning all the things you are accusing them of. Think about it.

Nothing made of prims in this world is worth that level of compromise if you truly believe the things you claim about this business.

Let your absence speak louder than words. Let them ban themself right out of business.

  12. I like to mix it up myself. I wouldn't want to see the dance or strip culbs go because I work at 2 of them, lol. Unlike a lot of people I see (and actually unlike I used to be myself) I don't like spending all my time in those clubs. I like to get out and experience different things, do different activities, mostly non sexual, but I occasionally take a one nighter to Zindra and see who I meet if I'm unattached :)

    But other stuff..

I enjoy the drive in movies or even a regular theatre style movie. I prefer a date but it's enjoyable alone too.

Amusement parks are fun and though they would get old to go every day or spend all your time there, they do have some return value. I like to go back to the ones I know of every now and then.

I like horseback riding and driving (bikes, cars, race cars) The downside is sim crossings make it almost impossible to find areas to drive where your car doesn't get flung. Horses are marginally better but still glitchy at crossings.

I have often gone map-click exploring. I have discovered litterally tons of places I wished were populated with their target crowds. Sadly, most were not and I had to settle for standing there alone enjoying the thought of how the place was when it opened or how it could be if whatever conditions were better for the owners (advertising, people trends, whatever)

I hope you aren't offended Chimm when I say this. I see this topic sort of in the same light as several recent threads that have inquired about absolutely no sex situations. stuff like (paraphrasing here ) 'Is it ok to no not have sex?', 'Looking for a no sex relationship' etc.

Myself, I don't want 'no sex' or 'no adult content'. I don't want 24/7 sex or anything close to it. I like it to happen 'sometimes'. I like to hang at a club 'sometimes'. I wish there were more people interested in getting out of the cracker box and experiencing some of the other things there are to do. Sometimes I wind up at the club just because that is where the people I know are at and that's better than standing alone at home feilding IM's.

So, I guess if your big 'IF' bomb were to hit, I'd be one of the few still wandering around looking for interesting things to do.

...while I kept an eye open for the speakeasy ;)

  13. I could be wrong as I don't watch a lot of TV or listen to a lot of radio (besides internet stations), but I don't think it's happened so far outside of SL. I've yet to see or hear a news story about someone who is known by their SL avatar name. To me, that would be famous.

Grid wide I think some designers would be the most well known, and possibly some Lindens. But the influx of new members would probably shrink their known status by the second, no matter what.

If someone already famous were to make an avatar then publicize some stuff, then maybe it would happen.

  14. Though my main avi (this one) doesn't resemble the person at the keyboard physically, it is me through and through and I always come back to it after any time spent on alts.

Most of the alts were some form of creative endevour as I really don't like altering too much from the basic look I have on this one. Even if I change to mermaid or giant scorpion or what have you, I am careful to maintain some recognizeable features of my basic look.

The 1st alt I made probably saved my life truthfully, as I was an SL work-a-holic and had just suffered a near fatal heart attack. Most of my work is the on call or help when available kind so I couldn't be logged into this avi without feeling like I should be helping when it was needed. The alt gave me some peace and quiet time to just hang out and enjoy.

I've made a couple for testing purposes. I would probably have one to build also if there was a way to transfer the creative credit to this avi without having items show 'unknown' as creator. That makes people nervous.

I don't spend a lot of time on alts anymore. I have discovered that after not too much time, life happens. Which is to say the avatar starts to make it's own circle of friends and have interactions with others unique to that avi which in turn effect emotion and shape the personality every bit as much as it would for any person in the tangable world. They also become a part of other peoples world in SL.

  15. Because you just stay quiet at home too?

    ;)

Just be yourself and enjoy. If you're not comfortable talking, don't, but IMO you have every right to. I was brought up with the whole 'children should be seen and not heard' thing quoted as if it were scipture. Well, guess what. It isn't, lol.

This asking ages sub-topic (should probably be a seperate topic actually). To me it would seam pretty irrisponsible for people that date and sometimes enjoy adult activities not to inquire about age of consent, knowing there are minors sharing the grid before things move along too far. Not only for both parties protection, but to avoid someone being majorly disappointed.

I did post a topic about it once in fact. I found it very curious that so many people will ask RL gender yet they never ask if the person is even an adult.

I work it out because they're cheapsaktes.

Look at what Tiffy posted after me.

The economics of it, in relation to the time put in.

Only a cheapskate is willing to sit there for hours to avoid having to pay for a few cents with RL-money. And only an abusive person is willing to take advantage of that.

Newbies get a pass because they don't realize the economics - how cheap linden $s are, especially in that range. But it is pure exploitation to take advantage of their gullability.

Taking advantage of and abusive are way too strong in my opinion. What's abusive about giving someone money in exchange for a service? A lot of the people log out or use bots when they sit and camp. I never understood camping either it's so much easier to just buy $5 worth of Linden or shop for freebies. But if they want to it seems like a bargain that is understood in advance. It would only be abusive if they called them filthy names during it or refused to pay after.

I'm trying for a little humor.

'Taking advantage of' is one of those phrases that can be taken a different way depending on context, connotation and all that. A person can be 'taking advantage of' a great opportunity and that is a possitive thing for them, which may or may not be the case for either party in a scenario like this. I think it could apply both ways depending on the proximity of the place to something like say for instance a newbie info hub.

Abuse? Nah, I can't go along with that. People often sign up for their own misery even knowing full well what it is. It might be abusive if someone was chaining people to the chairs against their will, but again, I know a few people that might actually stand in line for something like that. lol, just sayin.

But ya know, there's a 'buy linden' option right at the top of most viewers and it also pops up whenever you try to buy something you can't afford. A  person isn't likely to be in SL very long without knowing that it's an option for them.

Here's another example of something a lot of people feel is (or was) abuse. Vampire biting. My 1st couple nights in SL I was bit several times by some vampires at a club. I never bought a hud to this day and as far as I know am still 'in limbo' on a scan, lol. Was I abused? Heck no. It was hot. I was like oh neat, I'm getting bit by a vampire. I believe I actually turned to someone in the room with me and said that and made them come over to the PC to see it.

lol, I didn't die. I'm not traumatized by it. I just went on with my SL. Someone got a few pints of blood. Maybe it helped their clan. I did win the contest there. Maybe being a good sport had a little to do with that.

Not trying to derail the thread. It's applicable I think though because in almost all this stuff people have a choice to do it or not. And when you're new and it's just about linden dollars being game credits, it all goes to fun factor. If you're having fun, go for it, if not move on. And if you're trying to actually make money, probably best to check out some options other than camping.

Then they might be wondering to themselves why they were turned down...

*Should I make even bigger prim, or what is it?*

    :smileylol:

    HUGE!

    ;)

I prefer a creative, funny pick up line to anything that starts with 'hey baby' or the like, but still yea. a lot of it make me feel like I'm on the panel of the gong show sometimes.

Once when I was new I had this guy ask me if I wanted to go to his place and check out his rug collection. Sounded like the absolute most boring activity someone could offer. Later, I found out what some rugs in SL are capable of, lol.

What comes in the IM is less important than how a person handles themselves in local. When I go out, I go out to be social. not to be dragged off by the 1st person that has an LM to a skybox with lovebed. Ultimately I guess I want someone that wants to share my SL with me, not pull me away from it constantly, and someone that's not an embarrasment to be out in public with (yes, I'm a snob that way)

So if someone ever owned anything like a fart bomb or fake poop or the like, they need not apply.  :P

and loll I just realized that sounded a lot like the aggressive profiles described in another thread around here somewhere. LD

  18. Hi Phil! :D

The deal as described sounds more like a group discount than a giveaway to me. Person spends a minimum amount of money and also does a task. They got their stuff for 50 (or 49? 51?) lindens less than if they paid for it and just left. Chances are the merchant is selling more product/service than they would have been because of the promotion. I think if someone is only going to give another person 16 cents (for any task imaginable), then they are indeed being rude to put off someone that completed said task and didn't recieve what was promised. Both amounts are piddly. 16 cents is just as pathetic as 1/8 of a penny lol.

Now if it's a fun sim and an enjoyable experience, then who cares. Knock yourself out. I loved picking money trees when I started. The whole concept was fun. I had a route down. I made friends with a few others I saw daily, I got to see some neat places. The RL amount was irrelevant as I was neither buying or selling linden at the time. By the time the 30 days was up, I ws gamefully employed in SL and had donated many more times the amount than what I'd picked back to the trees for others.

Not eeryone cares the RL amount. I think the guy needs to have his script fixed or change his add.

  19. Beo, if you read my responses, then you know I didn't totally discount  your claim though I did express it is unlikely and pointed out that from what you have presented, it isn't enough to rule out other possibilities. reading through the thread, I think the bridge/lsl thing has been beat to death. I'm not a coder but several here are. Though none have taken the time to disect it in the thread, I don't have the time or desire to learn coding well enough to be helpful with that  so I'll take their word for it :)

Just curious if you have tried completely changing your email at any time during all this. Reason I ask is a while back I had my wow account hacked repeatedly and I didn't know what was doing it. Come to find out, it was the email associated with that account. Once I discovered what they'd done, I changed emails and and all email associations/passwords connected to the original and have not had a problem since. Yep. was a major pain to do. It took the better part of a day and even several phone calls to verify I was the right person, but it fixed the problem. Thankfully whoever it was seemed to have only been after some quick wow gold and didn't bother with anything else or I'd have had them in my SL as well along with a few other things.

I determined that hack was probably done with no scripts at all as the email service involved has a serious flaw in it's password retrieval/change system. (the security questions are too easy) and there's also a place that is not real evident right off the bat, takes some clicking around to find where one can set up an emergency email that overides everything. That means every change in the account gets sent directly to the hacker if they got their email in there before you had a chance to set it.

But i think you should just make your shape by eye, to what pleases you.  I made a third version, that is one head taller in the legs, which i like actually more i think.

    Shapes

Quite lovey, both. And I do agree, do what pleases you. People were not stamped from cookie cutters. There's always going to be some variance. However, knowing the norms can help you sort out more quickly what is really causing the wonkiness when things get strange in the creative process.

These are actually good examples of the breast phenomenon I meantioned above, particularly the shorter model on the right. If you compare to the chart, you see that when viewed from the front, they never protrude beyond the outer edgeof the torso. But.. :) we can get away with more here just because of how they behave, even with decent physics. It also goes to what we are accustomed to seeing in SL and correctly proportioned breasts would in most cases seem quite small, just because there are so many larger pair around.

Mine are the same way btw. D's or maybe even E's proportionately but they behave like a C, and no neck/back pain so yay. lol
