  1. Been there, done that, had my entire store deleted by their inability to grasp programming basics, and their superb levels of incompetence in this area, more than once. So have numerous others..if not their entire stores, at least some of their listings. This is an old chestnut that has been around since LL got some kind of superiority complex and thought they could do better than the owner(s)/creator(s) of other similar products to MP were already doing (and...ftr...LL can't, they've proven it). Like I said, it's NOT that difficult to accomplish, it's really not. This particular programming practice is in place far more places than people realize, and no one but LL seems to struggle with it on this level. Them fixing the filters is not some kind of "hard reset to remove all keywords" sort of deal, that's not how this kind of programming works, when done RIGHT. If someone's business is affected by such a filter fix, it's because they are using keywords they should NOT be using in the first place. IF filters are implemented properly, they don't cause havoc. It's when they are not implemented properly that they cause havoc. That is precisely what has caused all the problems with the filters since day one...LL mucking them up entirely. I pick no bones about this issue, I'm pretty blunt with it, because LL still isn't listening and coddling them regarding the problem doesn't help things any. LL can and should do better, there is no excuse whatsoever not to. Them constantly saying "we're looking into it", again, for YEARS, ought to be worrisome for all merchants, and shoppers, actually. No one takes this damn long to fix something so obvious I feel bad for the people on the MP team that take the brunt of the blow, but can't do much about it, like Dakota, because they really do have their hands tied behind their backs and LL ain't doing squat to help take that burden off them either. This is how LL operates, they attempt to placate with excuses, but rarely ever solve actual problems.
  2. Now you get it I have the patience of a saint...that's not an ego stroke, I really do, I have to in order to do what I do.. FFS has been comin' out my fingers soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much lately. When I'm ready to throw things, it's not me, it's them.
  3. I know why such a filter doesn't exist. It doesn't exist because LL, and whoever they have at the wheel as far as coding the backend of MP is concerned, doesn't know HOW to make (ie, code) a proper filter let alone implement one that was pre-written for them (which only requires the addition of words...super hard, I know) They have proven this a million times over, ever since they bought out a competitor, took over xstreet and shut the potential for someone far more qualified to run something like the MP out completely. No one wants to heat that though. They want to think that LL does know wtf they're doing, does have people who are "working on those fixes soon" (should I laugh now, or wait a few years for the next fiasco, outrage, problem?)... and while optimistic as all get out, and I commend that optimism...it's not justifiable optimism in this case. Again, because LL has a horrid, absolutely horrid, track record when it comes to coding and implementing filters properly. They COULD do it, it is 100% possible, countless others manage just peachy, and is NOT even remotely difficult to add words to the filter that already exists. But you need someone that knows how to do that (seriously...children could do this since most of the code is already written, or damn well ought to be by now, no excuses is justifiable if this part of the code isn't written right now..literally, no excuse, fire any employee that gives you one. This is basic programming material, not advanced.). While not nearly as serious as this issue, it is something that plagues the flag filters and has for years (flag filters being things that get listing and/or store removed, marked adult..yadda yadda yadda). We've discussed it ad nauseam here over the years and we get the same old tired "We don't like it either...but we'll tell you were't looking into it, and we'll pretend we don't understand why it's not working right, and we'll pretend we're gonna fix it" response from LL. (seriously, take a gander at the numerous threads regarding filters here, you'll understand my point better, and I beat that dead horse every time, for good reason..because....things like this fall in line with WHY people say LL doesn't listen...they don't). LL was supposed to have fixed their filter issues not all that long ago when people made a stink about other filter problems..................pretty sure some folks have left us while trying to hold their breath. I do agree, this should have never been the case, and LL should have done it right the first damn time, the second, the tenth..but here we are, over a decade later, same damn problem, never fixed....I don't buy the we're outraged too response...cuz it's bollocks. It truly is shameful that this is STILL an issue, that LL still need to get their heads on straight with something as simple as filters. It's not as hard as they're claiming. If the code is written properly, all you need to do is ADD WORDS. They need better code monkeys, they need to stop coddling them, and stop accepting BS excuses for why filters are still this messed up, years later. I'm actually surprised more people don't complain. I've been complaining for years, all it does is annoy people, and LL. Squeaky wheel ain't working in this case, it absolutely never has.
  4. I put myself in time out because my typed up but never actually sent responses were getting downright mean and cruel, because my limit of "I can deal with this person" for some people had been reached months ago, they aren't making it any easier to dial that down, and I'm not prepared to use the block feature for the first time ever here (the mere thought of it makes me very sad, really) Also, because people, generally speaking, have turned a new level of cranky, whether they want to admit it or not. Taking ***** from the forums to IM, taking things inworld, getting downright nasty in places they ought not to because someone else (not me) here hurt their feelings, so they'e lashing out. I'm not prepared to come out of my pillow fort yet and deal with that, or willing to blame it on being cooped up, or anything else...I think people have lost a wee bit of self control, the still small voice that says "stfu you idiot, stop being a doorknobby walnut". Doing my best to help someone else deal with their own demons they're battling, she's way more important.
  5. (This is probably going to sound offensive..but, frankly scarlet, I don't give a damn) To me, the new logo looks like they asked a kid who is just getting into graphic design to make "your own version of our logo" and went with the first submission made by a child that has only opened paint shop once before, for an art class assignment. I say this because while I love the blue color (I do, personally, blue's my fav color) the font is generic as generic gets and the hand looks like it was the original logo taken into psp, had the magic wand used on it to get just the hand part, modified the selection in by a couple pixels, inverted and the space created by the new selection deleted, then a couple of spots pulled out a bit with the distortion tool. In fact, I could do that with the old logo in less than two minutes, change the colorization and brighteness/contrast of the hand, and get that exact result, lol. My children could do it, my youngest niece could do it..... I don't like that, because it LOOKS lazy to me, as if literally no effort was put into it...and I'm mostly blind, so, that's not saying much for whoever "created" it. I do think that the hand with the words second life are very iconic as it relates directly to LL and sl. Whether or not the general public outside of us familiar with sl would think so, is irrelevant, LL does a ***** job of marketing and we all know that, it's not a super cereal secret. But I do think even among some of them less familiar it could be considered iconic, in the sense that someone who has seen it before, may recognize it again as being related to sl. That doesn't mean it represents sl, or LL, or what sl is, or what people can do with/in/for sl...it merely means, the logo is, to a certain degree, already connected with sl. If I saw the new logo during any of my downtime away from sl, I would think "who phucked up the logo?". The logo has never really represented any of that, regardless of what LL thinks it represents, lol. LL doesn't judge their own products well, that's another widely known not super cereal secret, even outside of sl. I do think a logo refresher, an upgrade, an update, isn't a bad idea. Most companies do it at some point in their lifetime. I just think the idea of an actual improvement is completely lost on whoever did it, and LL, because the only good improvement made is brightening the color a bit with a shade of blue that has more pop. It's also more accessibility friendly (which may have been a driving force behind using it)), even if a smidge brighter than typically used. It works better with accessibility tools whereas the latter color scheme never has, because of it's hues and light levels, it barely passed acceptable via us accessibility laws. ETA*-accessibility tools used for those of us with visual impairments alter colorization, hue, saturation, contrast, brightness, etc..etc....the blue, although pretty damn bright in its raw form, once put through those tools tones down. The old logo just tones out, and kinda looks fugly. They could lower the brightness on the blue but keep the rest of its assets and it wouldn't be nearly as bright in its raw form but would still pass muster in accessibility tools (LL has never done well on this front, they either go all in for backasswards crap, or go dull...there is no middle ground on their concept of design, lol) I'd like to say I don't really care one way or the other, but, clearly, some part of me (and every other one of you reading) does care, on some level...that doesn't mean it's a life altering thought process, or even a conscious one, lol.
  6. Others' mileage may vary, and I do respect how others feel. But for me, from my perspective, and in my experience...none of that matters to me. Anyone and everyone that has used my land would know they are free to wander, or use whatever items I may have out on the land (if I had an area I didn't want them in, or wanted only friends or whatever to use, I'd use proper measures to ensure they were as protected as possible, given the tools available). I have literally only ever had one actual problem with people and it was because I took personal issue with him walking her around on a leash, both naked as the day they were born with a whole lot of fetish accessories and bits and danglies attached on a g-rated sim around a large crowd of people fishing, saying the things they were saying. Otherwise...not one other instance of any kind of issue since 2008. So, I'm good with what works for me, and I respect what works best for others, or what they desire. I do my best to respect others' wishes, as I would expect of anyone else if I had any particular ones. I maintain that for me, and from my perspective, no one can do harm to me or my stuff. If they could, or if I were concerned they could, I would do my best to protect both with the tools available, as best I can. Have I ever had a stranger just plop in on me unexpectedly? Yep. Has it been during a time reeeeeeeally not convenient? Yup. Did I take it in stride? Yep. Do I expect others to do, or feel the same as I do? Nope.
  7. Those don't do what the snake oil salesman have lead you to believe they do....that's the nice way of saying what Sylvia said. There is literally NO WAY to prevent people from camming past those "invisible things" to find your furniture (though you can prevent people from using it, you can't even prevent alt clicking to sit, because the object will just eject them off it, but they'll be inside at that point, at which time your security method should take care of them, if you have one). You cannot make the contents that sit between your pixel prim walls invisible. You can make it LOOK invisible from the outside, but you can't make it actually BE invisible- this is a basic function of sl and how things work. People can cam into anything in sl, any object that exists within sl, including the walls of your home, can be cammed into. In order for all of the contents between those walls to also be invisible to those camming in, the items themselves would need to be made invisible, which means...even while inside the house, you can't see them, 'cuz they're invisible..and that's just silly. You bought snake oil dear, sorry to tell you if you actually believed those did something more than made your home look invisible. I know precisely what you're talking about, so, no need to "look it up"..it's snake oil Do me a favor...don't believe me....go outside of your house, fly if you have to (ie, if your home is up in the air), alt click on your outer wall (or where you know it to be, if the exterior has that "it looks like it's not there"/invisibility you think it has....then move your cam controls until you are within the walls, say, to your living room. You will see your own furniture, I can guarantee it. Even if you're not on the same parcel and you try doing so from a distance, you may not see AVATARS if that setting is checked in the about land...but you can, and will always, see objects.
  8. Again, you really should read more than just a few lines of a post at a time, lmao I was very clear in what I said, it's not rocket surgery, lol. Yes, HOMES are different than LAND (not sure why you'd think I thought any differently, lmao,, I'm not a walnut). I brought it up because numerous other posts were comparing sl "property ownership(not just home)" with "rl property ownership"...I was expanding upon that to give an example of where intruding on another's property CAN be done without nefarius intent, in both instances. I really don't understand how you got that I thought it was wise to just walk into someone's home, rl, or sl...lol. I said quite the opposite actually.
  9. That is from your perspective, and I respect that. I really wish you would have read the rest of my post that had very clear indicators stating that it was, and is, MY perspective, my opinion, and how I personally view it. I stand by what I said, they cannot do ME or MY STUFF any harm, so I do't give a flying firetruck what they do.
  10. The party isn't over until I say it's over. And I say it's never over, because I love crashing parties I was never invited to in the first place I don't personally give a flying fudrucker what anyone does on land I "own". If I wanted people to stay out, I'd use the tools available to make them do so. The tools exist, plenty of them in fact, and I would use them. However, I don't, and have never had property that I cared to keep people out of. In fact, the vast majority of land I have had, I've left open to public use, including any personal homes, furniture, stuffs. I, personally, take the stance of "what exactly can they do to harm my stuff?". The answer is simple..nada. They can't get their unwelcome dna all over my stuff, they can't eat the food out my fridge, they can't sully all my linens and plumbing, they can't let my precious furry and otherwise family members escape whatever particular captivity in which they reside, they can't even rez if I don't let them, they can't put all my living room furniture in the kitchen and my stove in the game room......they can basically do absolutely no harm at all. So, I, personally, don't actually care, lol. I don't mind that others care, it is their land to do with whatever they so wish, and I respect that. I have never intentionally invaded anyone's personal space, though I have done so unintentionally numerous times (because it's not always obvious). If/when I do, I apologize profusely, even if the property owner is not online, because you just never know the kind of attitude towards personal space invasion someone might have, so I find being apologetic for accidental invasion is the best option. Most people, however, don't actually care, whether or not I apologize, lol. I also have to say that ALL but three of my accidental invasions involved being rubber banded, or tossed via whatever means I was traveling across an area and ending up most definitely not where I intended. The other three times were me just wandering across land, open to public land I might add, and coming across not so public land by chance. I'd never actually wander into anything I thought was someone's house intentionally. They were just parcels that happen to butt up to public ones. I skidaddle out super quick if I notice I'm somewhere I shouldn't be. But I do the same in rl. Yes, in rl, I can wander across land that my family owns, or even public land, and then end up encountering private land. It happens all the time actually, because you can't see property boundaries in rl without some kind of indicator, I don't have an "about land" in rl, lol. I guess I am just happy that most people in rl aren't nearly as snippy when it happens as some people in sl get. In rl signage is required here for actual land that is private versus not private..not necessarily on land that has a structure of some kind, though it's often included then too, especially on vast swaths of land. Not all private property invasion is intentional, but when you own property and you don't make it obvious (using the tools available) that property is owned and not to be trespassed upon in an environment surrounded by non-private property, you kind of leave yourself open for accidental invasion. Hence why the tools exist. I respect that some don't like it, absolutely, and I respect their right to privacy. What I don't respect is the lack of protecting, or even enforcing their own privacy beforehand, simply so they can hulk out and do so reactively...that's a bit over the top for me. Proactive protection is better than reactive tendencies. I still respect their desire for privacy even if they hulk out, of course, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't get a good chuckle out of it when they do go all ballistic on people.
  11. Just gonna take a moment here to thank all the little people while I accept (and of course purchase) my crown as troll queen because.... this whole eff'n thread is hilarious to me, and I have laughed at at least 95% of the posts....whether you were trying to be funny or not...so...I suggest grabbin some pillows and cream for all that butthurt my trolling laughs bring, it's probably gonna be painful. Then again, I read damn near every thread, I have an amazing memory....and hypocrisy cracks me tf up...I suspect I'm not alone, in the laughing of course Please, carry on...this is some of the best entertainment I've seen all day
  12. I believe it is, lol The humans or the bears? With the bears...definitely 😄 The humans, on the other hand..require some choice words...a group of angry folks...some darts....some blindfolds and a long ride down a dark dusty highway...cool wind in...ffs self....get it together......a long ride somewhere remote, and no way back. or......yeah, something like that
  13. I live right on the lake so we get all kinds of critters here. Mostly, our snakes are harmless, except ones like massasauga, which is pretty venomous (and not actually supposed to be this far north, but it is). In the last couple of years they found a super venomous snake (I forgot the name, lol) here that definitely doesn't even belong in the US, much less HERE. We don't even have the right environment or weather..but, alas, it's made home here anyway. We get notices every time they find one here, because they're super dangerous and sometimes look dead when they're not. We do have a ton of garter snakes who try to pretend they're vicious, but...come on, lmao. She was still pretty young in that picture, maybe two, at most. She's not a whole lot bigger now, garters don't get that big really. She's a sweetheart of a snake though, I love her. But we have other critters who cause problems, more so for themselves than us (and by us I mean us humans who don't act like jackholes around animals just doing animal stuff, which sadly doesn't include a lot of the population). We even have lockdown procedures for things like bears (because yes, that happens, and people are stupid when they see bears) and other animals. The wild turkey are jerks but, kinda in their nature to be so. The deer wander like they own the joint...and they do. They're the main reason our side gate is left open because when they try to jump the fence they get hurt...because they're not smart, and we have wild grape vines on the far back fence they love to eat. The insects and spiders are more problematic than any animal here though. Brown recluse are a huge issue, and the skeeters are just ...well...me, in insect form...obnoxious af.
  14. Sick and tired of being ;LISHRNAUIPEHTNGR;ONFDO;GNDS;LKNREIOH;GN;OIWNFPUENGPI;BVOM*&(^)qye&*gpbljx :kjnfOA sick and tired... (that's one really long swear word there...) Ok actually I'm not tired, but I am still sick. I'm pretty sure it's not going away this time, lol...I laugh because...I have no idea Still, there's some good stuff this week, and I said I'd focus on good for the week (and today ends the week so I can get back to my cranky self tomorrow) sooooo We has daffodils in our yard, they've been MIA for a few years, but they came back this year. I never did plant them, they've just always been here, being what they are. They're all over the place, but there are some up near the house too. They're sort of by the one window, and it's been a bit windy on and off every day for the last week or two. So if you look out the window at the right moment, they look like they're waving their arms in the air. They're all..."YAY....", they look like wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube men...but they're flowers..so that's cool. Stevie, the garter snake we rehabbed a few (ok more than a few) years ago is actually still alive, and she still lives in our backyard. I only know it's her because of a mark on her underside where she got hurt (and the reason we took her in, in the first place, was because of her being hurt). I like seeing her out there. Oh., here's a picture of her, aint she perty? (this isn't a new picture, but she's pretty much the same, just a wee bit bigger now) Umm, what else..ummmmm....weather's nice today I like opening the doors and windows when it's nice, even when it's rainy but not cold. I'm thinking...I'm thinking...I'm thinking.... Ok that's all I've got for now.
  15. Today..... The good.... My health..on the med, well, getting there, sort of, a little bit, ok ffs, it's not but I'm pretending it is, ok? Let me have my lie My friend's health (this is the actual good). The friend I mentioned previously in this thread is, well, still struggling with the same things she was before, try as I might, I can't drag her out of that one little corner where she dances alone, usually quietly, sigh.....but this isn't about that (I'll mumble under my breath about those people later..). She is a cancer survivor, she had her first brush with it a while back after dealing with some other benign tumors...and it's been an uphill battle ever since for her (complications and other issues, some unrelated, but problematic). ANYHOO....she got her first full year of NED yesterday and I'm so excited for her (and she does actually know I'm posting this, because I asked her if it was okay, because...personal, and all that). Oh and NED is simply "no evidence of disease", not necessarily considered remission in her case, but as close as she's ever been. In her case that means no new tumors, no new growth at all, and no, currently, detectable cancer cells in any of her tests...that's the short version. I'm so excited for her, I know, I said that, but I needed to say it again. This girl has been through hell and back, even long before this issue, so...this is monumental.....sooooooooo HAPPY ONE YEAR CANCER FREE BETHANY (I'd give you her name in sl, but I don't think we allowed to name drop here...and she might actually hurt me....but, if you ever happen to go for a dance by a river, you'll find her hiding in plain sight, she's going to kick my ass for that) !!!!!! I baked her a cake btw..yes, in rl, lmao. I'm a little miffed that some folks who pretend to like her couldn't possibly care about this because....(mutters something about selfish douchecanoes).....I can be happy enough for the entire world though. The bad... I still am loathing a lot of people in general, for all kinds of reasons, some valid, some not so valid. Most directly related to this particular friend, still...nto her of course, she's s gem...but, alas...the good outweighs the bad today, and I'm going to try and make it outweigh the bad for at least this entire week. So back to good we go My family is healthy, mostly, we're doing okay, we've got food, we've got asspaper, and we're enjoying the wonderfully maddening weather mother nature is throwing our way.
  16. This is stupidly idiotic and will lose you far more customers than it will stop scammers Any business that does this ***** to people, can kiss my lily white lil pixel arse..and I'll be sure to let folks know they're doing it too. While there is merit in warning customers and being vigilant, this kind of advice will have the opposite effect of what you want, and it will, I guarantee, piss a lot of people off. Especially as we see more and more logins, which means more and more lag at some places, more and more people standing still or being unable to make purchases at more busy locations...more and more everything I loathe shopping with every fiber of my being, but sometimes when I go, I stand in one place and cam around. I help others find things they're looking for all the time, I rarely every buy anything myself in clothing stores (because I only change every couple of years). So I'm likely to stand still in someone's shop for a long time if I'm gathering info for SOMEONE ELSE. Ban me...sucks to be you, you can bet your butt I'm telling everyone I know not to shop with you....and I know lots and lots of people who will sympathize with being banned for simply being present too long (seriously...wtf....where is that logical?...). It doesn't actually stop scammers to do that, btw, some of those doing it will simply buy something form your store...there, now you won't even suspect them, lmao. The stores I do shop at, I always stand around for a while, getting a good feel for the places, checking out their wares, often times revisiting several places before I decide on an actual purchase...because if I intend to purchase, odds are good it's going to be a big purchase. Don't treat me like a criminal if I'm not one..wanna know why I'm just standing around, how about you ask.... It's not a new scam, it's as old as sl is, not running any more rampant now than it ever has (it comes and goes in waves), just some of the more vocal folks have been hit by it in recent years, whereas before store owners simply enacted their own policies for dealing with it and kept the rabble rabble to a minimum about it (ie, didn't assume anyone standing in their store for a bit but not buying was up to nasty things..) That's how it's always been curbed when it rears its ugly head..not by throwing down the ban hammer based on stupid assumptions.
  17. Apparently the time for patience with my annoying nature has run out... I didn't even know there was a clock don't worry, we know where the door is you may have your thread back now I'm still not sorry tho
  18. It's after midnight...that means it's my birthday...that means I'm off to do birthday stuffs.....and stuff My gift to you...silence from me for an entire day Use it wisely I'll be back on the 18th
  19. Must be careful with my memes....... Also must improve my listening skills.... ....maybe later
  20. Oh, but we have Not only have we sunk I have set anchor points deep within the sand Good luck finding them 😄
  21. I'm the happy floofer....you're all the not so happy floofer.... But I don't care so...on with the bad memes
  22. You didn't think I was finished, did you? I'm chock full of bad dad jokes. Except I'm not a dad Or bad.....Well, maybe a little bad But definitely not a dad Enjoy 😄 (seriously, I'm just pasting from my bad joke file...you have no idea how big this thing is, I could continue this thread for hundreds of pages all by myself and not run out of bad jokes) How do you make a pirate furious?
