  1. Look for hosting/djing jobs at: Club Fluffys Vortex Aspen and there are others I believe not sure I left that community long time ago now. Good Luck x
  2. Having this exact same issue, I can log in using a different I.P address from a VPN but it's rather slow, also for me on normal internet I cannot connect to www.secondlife.com I get my browser telling me the server is unable to respond. Either way hope this get's sorted soon, this happened shortly after the hardware maintance was completed I assume? If so something may have possibily gone wrong . *shrugs* I'm just constantly refreshing the website mentioned above about the grid status trying to see what happens! x
  3. Hey Residents, So since last night I've been unable to log into the simulator on any viewer (Second Life's own and Third Party) When ever I attempt I get an error message which is along the lines of something is wrong with my internet connection or the servers. I've tried other accounts but it seems to be my I.P address that is restricting me access. I'm not sure my account has been held by Linden Labs because I can log in using a VPN hosted out of the UK and according to the second life website which I can access using the VPN my accound says "Status: ACTIVE". Whenever I try to access secondlife.com on any device connected to my WiFi it says unable to connect to the server but I am still able to connect to the community.secondlife.com area. This has been going on since before the schedualed inventory server and started happening when the hardware maintenence was completed a couple of days ago. Second Life Third Party Mobile Viewer (when connected to WiFi): www.secondlife.com on Mobile (when connected to WiFi): When I am not connected to WiFi I'm granted access to both the website and viewer. www.secondlife.com (from web browser when connected to JUST the WiFi): When login into the simulator I get a few varying error messages each time... including this one?: And this is the correct time! The most common error message I tend to recieve is this one about an issue being either my connection or the second life servers. But when connected to the VPN access is allowed and I can access Second Life fully. As mentioned earlier my account is "ACTIVE" I am still getting emails from people purchasing marketplace items and offline IM's so I'm unsure to why my WAN IP address isn't allowing me access to Second Life? Sorry for the many screenshots, would just like this to be sorted soon, I could just stay using the VPN but it's rather slow. So would much prefer my own WIFI. Solutions I have tried: Rebooting Modem, Restarting Computer, Login in with other accounts (still no), Fowarding all the ports mentioned on the Wiki, checked if the router is blocking access and again it hasn't, tried different viewers and nope. I've sent out a support ticket but would be nice to see if I can get help here. I know it is to do with my IP Address becuase the VPN allows full access. And I'm the only user of Second Life on this IP address as far as I'm aware. But if Linden Labs blacklisted my IP address surely I'd still be allowed access to www.secondlife.com I don't know, please help guys :) Thanks in advanced!
  4. I wouldn't rule out the idea - the iPad 2 has a dual core A5 processor it runs infinity blade at a smooth 30fps and the graphics rendered are beautiful - my iPad runs faster and can in games more smoother than my intel Deleon laptop could ever dream yet I run SL at a cope able 10fps on it - I don't think is possible to get amazing fps and high graphics right out the box onto an iPad viewer but I'm sure a basic low graphics viewer could do some good with a retweaked interface for the iPad. Perhaps an inventory load cap ... I cant imagine 30'000 items being fetched and cached onto it. Although SL renders live not like most games that load up as you progress. Considering you keep your iPad plugged in at all times... Mehh I'm going to keep dreamin
  5. I'm planning on getting a computer from this website. http://www.littlewoods.com/electricals/computing/desktop-computers/e/b/4877/s/bestsellers,0/r/100.end Reason being is because I can pay on a weekly bases which is good because I need it urgently. I don't want a mac. let me just put that out now. I tried to match up to the Reccomended Specifications and it just isn't working my mind is blown. For those who will say "Laptops and Second Life just don't work" I've had an intel celeron laptop with 2GB RAM for 2 years now and been playing Second Life since I got it, the performance is bad like 4fps on average when walking round a shop. and it drops to like 0.5fps when in a club but I can cope and have done for 2yrs but I want a change so this is why I'm upgrading. I want someone who knows what they are talking about to check out computers and laptops on the website (preferablly computer don't want 2 laptops but if the laptop is the better choice then I'll settle) Preferably I'd be all like YAY I WANT ULTRA GRAPHICS!! but in all honesty I'd be beyond happy if I can get High graphics. Or just the ability to put Basic Shaders, Atmospheric Shaders & Reflective Water with a decent fps (13ps would make me happy). I get that this is a lot to ask for from a graphics card so it's why I'm asking you guys to check and from that website list or tell me what would be the best computer on there for what I want which is to have these graphic settings and a good fps: Graphical Settings I would set personally: Bump Map & Shiney Local Lights Basic Shaders Atmospheric Shaders Reflect Everything in Water DD: around 100m Particles: 1028 Level of Detail for Sculpts, Terrain, Objects, Flexiprims etc.: Mid And with these graphical settings around 12 - 17fps would be ideal if I was standing in a store with a few other avatars(that are the actually avatars not the imposters), I tend to do that mostly. Also I'd need to be able to multi-task on my computer such as downloading on iTunes, browsing the web, photoshop... that'll be the most of what I do anyways. If the only option is the Apple Mac then firstly DAMN! but i'd settle lol. Thank's a bunch! p.s thanks to Peggy Paperdoll who commented on my last post giving me some assistance with this.
  6. So I've been on Second Life coming on 2yrs now & now I'm employed with good income I'm upgrading from my celeron laptop which ran at 4fps on low in a store on a full sim. 10fps in an empty skybox and 0.7fps in a club. So I'm eyeing up this computer and it looks gorgeous! I matched it up to recommended specifications on the website but I assume that they are to get all of the graphical features second life has to offer. Here's a link to the computer I'm wanting: http://www.littlewoods.com/acer-z5761-core-i3-4gb-1tb-23in-all-in-one-touch-screen-desktop-pc/926717678.prd? Say I was using Viewer 2.. I use firestorm. What would be the best graphical setting, infact, a reword. If such computer was put on ultra graphics what fps would it get and same question as if the settings was on High. Thanks in advanced residences :) x

The bottom line is called money. If enough current users can't afford to get a new computer that can handle Viewer 2, then those people will disappear as potential paying customers for Linden Labs. It's that simple. People will generally use the best equiptment they can afford, but many users can't afford nice new computers that will handle Viewer 2. Many (about half of the users) also prefer TPVs based on Viewer 1, and it doesn't make sense for LL to just thumb their noses at that many users. I second this post. I am currently a Phoenix user and would not want to change that anytime soon even if mesh does come active to the main grid I wouldn't be all that amazed, I watched a preview video on the SL wiki website and all I thought was 'Meh'. If it was requried for me to ditch Phoenix and get on a mesh supported viewer it wouldn't happen. As for 2.x viewers I sort of like them they are nice viewers and some features are pretty cool but right now on Phoenix viewer I have a great experience I am use to. I have my graphics on low, shiney on, local lights on and terrain high... I get on average 5 fps, which I know alot of people will be like "OMG THAT IS SO SLOW!" but to be honest it's a speed I'm actually happy with and have used from like 2009 when I started, and my Second Life experience in my eyes is optimal I mean if I was to go on Second Life on a super alienware computer and roam around on ultra at 40fps then I would proberly be like "damn... i want this." But Viewer 2 to me the UI is nice but the performance for me is absolutly aweful! I can't even turn local lights on because it's been dominated by Global Lighting and what not. Looks like I'm making a deal out of nothing but local lights are an important feature to me and I can enable them in Viewer 1, but not in Viewer 2 because everything is greyed out. Overall Viewer 2 is nice for those people who can enjoy it and it's full extent but I do not want to spend money upgrading my laptop components just to support Viewer 2 for mesh features and local lights, global lighting, projectors etc. I get everything I need from Second Life in Phoenix. I have physics enabled, lights enabled and shiny enabled... I can't see glow but like alot of people who can't. We don't care. Theres still a lot of people who aren't happy with Viewer 2 and would stick to Viewer 1 and if LL think of discontinuing Viewer 1 and related TPV's there will be a lot of unhappy resdients. There are a lot of residents who are like "yeah move foward, advanced in second life graphically yay" who are sitting on some £800 laptop. But for the mass of residents who stick to £300 laptops because of their budget would be very unhappy because V2 is an artistic viewer it's a viewer for those residents who have good performanced computers with amazing graphic cards. V1 is for the guys who like simple UI's having things there infront of them and with an easy performance.
