  1. I feel like this is the only thing that matters, or that should matter. As long as you're not actively ruining other people's fun, there's no wrong way to RP. And sometimes it's best to realize that you and another person won't enjoy playing together, and peacefully go separate ways. There really shouldn't be any reason for people to be jerks to each other over different preferences.
  2. Remnants of Earth is like the biggest RP sim that allows furries. It's sci-fi, with some MMO and tabletop elements that may or may not appeal to you. If your furry avatar are on the more realistic and less cartoony side, a lot of fantasy sims will likely accept them. Ruins of Xenark seems to be open for anthro races, for example. Good luck, hope you find something.
  3. Not sure how one would make an urban setting unique compared to the many sims that exist and have existed... Maybe if you're not dead set on a realistic environment you could think about including some fantasy, supernatural, or sci-fi elements. Of course a lot of that has been done too, but it might give you more to work with, depending on what you want. There's a lot of stories, mythology and lore out there to draw inspiration from, it wouldn't have to be the same old things you see everywhere.
  4. Yes? That usually means one that is not part of a larger roleplay sim/community, but just a small tavern where people can come and go and play out their own stories without being bound to the lore of any established setting. But I'm sure she will clarify what she meant when she checks the thread again.
  5. What. There's no indication she's looking for anything other than what she said. A tavern. Likely to roleplay spending a night or two at during her character's travels. I have seen a few places like that over the years, but I'm not aware of any at the moment. It always seemed like a fun idea though, and useful for RPs like that when you need a temporary location. Good luck finding one though, or starting one if you were thinking of that.
  6. Personally I've always liked dark dystopian cities with cybernetics and gene-splicing and stuff, maybe mutants, maybe aliens. Corrupted evil governments are always fun, and rebel groups trying to fight against them. Dangerous criminal groups, police forces that are just bad or maybe worse. Evil scientists. Oppression and prejudice and maybe some slavery. But with various fun hi-tech gadgets and weapons. I don't know, just some thoughts. I'm not super into space travel and space ships and such, but that could probably also work in combination with other things.
  7. As long as you're only counseling the characters and not the players, have a clear separation of IC and OOC, and don't claim that you're trying to help real people with real life issues... I don't see why it would be any different from any other kind of roleplay. I've never heard of LL saying anything about this.
  8. I know Timber Wilds just opened an area specifically for feral RP, might be worth checking out? The downside, to me anyway, is that it's strictly ONLY for feral animals, so you don't get a chance to interact with humans and such. But maybe that's not as important to you two? Including the SLurl below, to get to the RP area you have to walk into the portal and accept the Experience pop-up it gives you. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Silent Hills/250/175/2771
  9. It's generally not the kind of RP I do, but the other day I found this tumblr blog and it sounds like something that could be helpful. It's a writing advice blog specifically about writing better vet characters and animal care. It also occasionally touches on fantasy animals and races, which is pretty fun. And animal care and veterinary medicine is pretty fascinating stuff in general. So good luck!
  10. Yep. We met in RL a few years ago and now we've been married for a little over a year :3 I've also met several other SL friends, and they've all been amazing.
  11. Most of the time I can't log in at all, it gets stuck on the login screen or I get an error message. When I do manage to get in, things are not rezzing correctly or at all. One of my accounts has more issues than the other for some reason. And the grid status page doesn't seem to mention aything relevant. Is it just me or are other people having issues? Does anyone know why it's happening? Edit: Well, it appears to be working again. Still not sure why it happened. I was not on wifi, I had restarted the modem, the account with the most issues was the one I'm on the most, but also with the smallest inventory, and I do generally keep both of them pretty well-trimmed. I also tried logging into different regions with the same results. (And as I found out just when I was typing this, apparently two other SL friends were having the same issue earlier, so I guess it wasn't just me after all. Something messed up after the maintenance maybe? Oh well.)
  12. Roxy Couturier wrote: First of all, not everyone is here for role-play. The vast majority are here to socialize with like-minded people. So I'm not sure what the point is of looking for RP in social spaces such as furry or BDSM sims would be. They are not here to be your RP monkeys. (Though some of the furries might just -be- monkeys..) In fact, if you're going to those sims to 'RP' being a Dominant/submissive/friendly fur/whatever, then you're the equivalent of the 'wanna f**k' set with a slightly better vocabulary. You want instant gratification without putting in the work of being social, of being invested in the other person. That's the 'wanna f**k' mindset. Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking when I first read the OP, and unfortunately my reply about it got eaten. These places are not ROLEPLAY SIMS. Don't expect RP to happen at furry clubs and BDSM hangouts, people don't go there to roleplay. Try some actual RP sims maybe. Some are good, some are bad, some are just a bad fit for certain players, and to some degree you get what you put in. If all you do is complain about what other people are doing or not doing, you're obviously not gonna attract a lot of friends and RP partners.
  13. I'm always a bit interested in new fantasy sims. What else can you tell us about it? Anything specific that sets it apart from other sims of the same theme?
  14. Remnants of Earth used to have a lot of furry characters back when I RPed there. Futuristic, dystopian, and sci-fi. Not sure it's exactly the type of sci-fi you prefer, but it's the only one I can think of that allows furries.
  15. It was probably one of those interracial fetish clubs. Just go somewhere else.
  16. I seem to remember that selling things related to rape, and bestiality, is disallowed on the marketplace. Although plenty of people still do it. But inworld has never been a problem as far as I know. Well, assuming of course it's not done on G land, a place where the sim owner doesn't allow it, or in a way that bothers other people. And real life laws are always a different matter. SL forums are not a good place to look for legal advice.
  17. There's a feral RP sim called Circle of Life that I heard about a while ago. Might be worth checking out.
  18. The post is two years old, so the sim is probably gone by now, unfortunately.
  19. I have no idea what US laws say about depictions of bestiality, and there was a thing a while back where a bunch of creators had things related to animal sex taken off the marketplace and/or were banned for the offense. So, I believe selling bestiality things on the marketplace is against the rules, but I don't think there are rules about doing it inworld. But furries don't fall under that anyway, so... Unless there were any local sim rules there stating furries are not allowed, it doesn't sound like your friend did anything wrong.
  20. Builder's Brewery is also an excellent inworld group for help with building, modelling, texturing, and everything related to that. They hold regular classes too, and I'm sure there are people there willing to help answer specific questions on how to bring models into Second Life. I also definitely reccomend Blender for your modeling program. It's free and there are a ton of tutorials out there. Blender Cookie is one website with a lot of info, and I'm sure you can find a lot on youtube as well. Good luck!
  21. Maybe look for Moderate-rated roleplay sims inworld. You can use search or try the Seeking Roleplay group, there's also the RPC, an inworld roleplay center where sim owners advertise. But there are plenty of others like you who are not interested in sex RP. I'd give you some more specific recommendations if I could, but I'm not really up to date on current horror or japenese-themed sims. Good luck!
  22. Ugh. Lovely attitude towards people trying to help you. Good luck with that.
  23. It's hard to tell from those pictures, but could it be something like the werewolf avatars from 1st Act? They definitely fit the description of 'bulky wolf' anyway, so it might be something worth taking a look at. If you really want a custom mesh avatar made from scratch, it's going to be very expensive, and it might be difficult to even find a creator willing to do it. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/48103
  24. Oh man, that was a long time ago. Like, 8-9 years I think. I used to do forum RPs, and after joining SL I realized it seemed like a perfect environment for RP... So I started looking around, and eventually ended up at a sim called Darkside. Vampires, shapeshifters and such, kinda gothic-ish and based on the Anita Blake book series. I made a wereleopard character, with a cute little furry avatar as my animal form, lol. I was welcomed into the RP and leopard faction immediately. I made a bunch of friends there and some I still stay in touch with now and then. Good times. I feel like things were easier back then... But that's probably just me. I've become more picky and not as easily entertained and immersed...
