  1. I understood the 'attachments wandering off' issue to be caused by bad joints on rigged mesh, changing or removing the mesh seems to fix it
  2. OK, then 2 more possibilities spring to mind... first, log in on one of the viewers you can get inworld on & disable all gestures & also change your group tag to 'none' If still no joy, then maybe this page - http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/login_fail
  3. It could be a build-up of open notifications. See the "Firestorm Logs out During Login" section of http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_install_crash
  4. Whether this is the same viewer as you use or not, this should be useful http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/login_fail
  5. small relevant section of the log, I see no reason why not - 20MB, perhaps not ;-) I suggested the Jira link as it would at least give an anchor for the issue. Even if not all users can, LL & some users *can* see the jiras & may be able to help.
  6. Posting the relevant section of log here might have been useful, or even a jira link ;-)
  7. Try a speed test - directly to Dallas as that's the closest to being able to measure the true speeds you can get to SL. http://dallastx.speedtest.net Hit the Preferred, not the Recommended button. Set your bandwidth to either the speedtest Download figure [the middle one of the 3 it gives you] multiplied by 800, or no higher than maximum 1500, if your figure comes out higher. Also, problems have been seen if the Upload figure is less than 1Mb/s, whatever the Download speed. *Recommended will measure to somewhere near you instead of Dallas, which is no good for this particular test. Voice is run by Vivox & not directly connected to SL itself. I needs to use whatever bandwidth you have 'left over' once SL has used its allocation. As mentioned, at sim crossing, SL will require more, so setting bandwidth too high will more likely result in a poor handoff to the next region.
  8. One thing you need to do is distinguish between a true crash & a forced logout. "server is logging you out" is not a crash "View IMs or Quit" is not a crash. The first is, as has been pointed out, the server being made aware of your recent crash only at the point you attempt to relog. This may be ocurring more frequesntly or taking longer to recognise the disconnect, but I don't know. I haven't crashed in so long it's not a period I frequently need to measure. Suddenly & unexpectedly looking at the desktop instead of SL is a crash. If you are actually crashing on touching inventory or rebaking, I would be tempted to try isolate that. Check for up to date graphics drivers first :- NVidia - http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx ATI - http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDSupportHub.aspx Intel - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx?lang=eng
  9. TextureDiscardLevel is exposed in graphics prefs in the Texture Details Loaded dropbox, which should always be set to Normal. Older viewers had no warning if you changed that, new ones do. As a general rule, don't play in debug unless you know what the setting you are changing is actually for & the consequences of altering it. Also take with a pinch of salt any 'favourite debugs' you hear from people. They are often based on misconceptions. There is good reason some settings are hidden in debug, away from casual users.
  10. Try looking at the DNS section in here - http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Login-failure/ta-p/700109#Section_.1.3a It seems to affect Mac more than anything else There's some more info at http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/dns_fail including links as to exactly how to do the DNS change on your machine
  11. if you are comfortable with editing Registry, there is also this option... Start regedit (start → run → type “regedit” → hit enter) Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers In the left panel you should see 3 SkyDrive keys (1, 2 and 3) Delete all 3 of them Reboot
  12. Release notes say 12.10.19.266079 I'm currently on 12.10.12.265813, after the roll I'm confused ;-)
  13. Frankly, it's not the provision of the Display Name that is the issue, it's the predominance of dot squiggle square names - unpronounceable. My usual recourse is to call people by the first syllable of whichever name is pronounceable & they'll just have to put up with it. I most certainly will not address people by spurious honorifics they may decide to give themselves, Master this or Princess that.
  14. TP fails are usually one of 3 things; too many scripts; either departing or arriving sim is busy/laggy giving poor handoff; or poor communications/net connection, including DNS fail or bandwidth set too high. See http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_tp_fail Friends list empty is another sign of DNS fail - see http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_empty_friends_list These links are relevant whichever viewer you're using, though some prefs locations may differ.
  15. Getting a lot of reports of people not being able to rez. Initially we posted SVC-7907 but it's now looking worse than that - some can't rez items even if they have rez rights at 0,0,0 & are not trying to 'rez at last location' merely drop to the sim. No firm details yet but too many users in the support group today with the same issue
  16. This is more anecdotal than fully tested, but in viewers that will scroll inventory to the most recent item taken from sim, this behaviour seems to have stopped working. Heard from a few users today, on Phoenix & Firestorm. The only commonality is 'since yesterday' Also I tested with SecondLife_3_3_0_251182 - which produced the same results, but I don't know what its default behaviour should be. Avatar to avatar offers, the inventory scrolls to the new item as expected
  17. Lonewolf - this has probably been mentioned before, but your 1ft prim is actually 1' 3", your 7ft door is actually 9' 2" tall; your 'metres/feet' ruler is actually a centimetres/inches ruler stretched so the inches look like metres & gives the impression the centimetres are feet. [even if the inches were 'metres', the ruler shows 4.25 of them yet the prim height is 4.0, so the scale still would be wrong] Your sense of scale & proportion is, based on this evidence, sadly lacking & your 'proof' is proof of nothing at all.
  18. Jayme... 1) Take breaths occasionally... All that invective in one paragraph makes for difficult reading. 2) LL-bashing for 'lag' has been going as long as I've been here. One of the things I have learned over those years is that a great deal of 'lag' can be at the user's end & many things can be done to alleviate it. I'm not saying for one minute that server-side lag doesn't exist - of course it does & that is what you wish could be fixed. However, try this... grab a new copy of either LL's latest version or one from your favourite TPV. Make sure you do a full clean reinstall, removing all legacy data from your computer [some folders are 'hidden' by default] not just add/remove program. Should you, by any chance, choose to use Phoenix or Firestom as your viewer of choice, then come visit the Phoenix/Firestorm Viewer Support Group inworld, which is manned virtually 24/7 & let's see if we can get you up to speed.
  19. Thanks Maestro - I'd found the Jira, but thank you for the heads up
  20. Since the beginning of the week, when our sim is restarted, sim physics collapses to about 2 fps, taking the overall sim fps down with it for up to 20 minutes or so, before eventually recovering. Even after recovery, we never see much over 42 fps. The sim used to get almost constant 45, except when busy. On another note, the day cycle seems to have gone back to moving in jerks, or not at all, after having been fixed for the past few weeks. I'm not the sim owner, only estate manager. The owner seems to be away at the moment.
  21. Frankly, clicking the box I can live with... however, when you go to 'Magic Box Status' from the Marketplace Merchant Home, that takes you to the xstreet site too. I was completely dumbfounded as what i thought i was looking at was a whole slew of unassociated inventory & item listings. It took me a lot of jumping back & forth & resyncing before I realised I'd been 'TPd' off-site So, the short form is - How do I check the box/inventory/listing status now?
  22. OK, so I got bored stupid of reading this whole thread by about page 8, but i'm still going to add my own 2 completely valueless cents to the general feeling of 'we got scr**ed again' that's apparent here. Essentially, my business is selling medieval weapons - now, of course in RL that would be very definitely an 'adult' profession, yet in this fantasy land it barely registers a raised eyebrow. Lord of the Rings was a 12-rated movie. All my stuff would be appropriate to that, yet, because of all the different combat meters in SL, it is vital to show which meters your weapons are compatible with. Enter "Gorean Meter" in any description & suddenly toy swords are 'adult' . One of my main products had suddenly dropped from healthy sales to zero - I just now discovered that it has been given an adult tag. It's a scripting system for weaponry, it doesn't have any sexual connotation whatsoever, yet now half of SL can't see it. So, I do what? Remove the tag that tells the customers which meters are supported, or keep it & halve my prospective client-base? Or start playing with stupid workarounds like "G*rean" in the main description? This mockery of a system now effectively means I could not even buy my own products, as I utterly refuse to play the age verification game. I'm 50, & the last time someone asked me my age so I could buy alcohol or cigarettes was 30 years ago. I'm most certainly not going to do it to buy a toy sword.
