  1. Hi @Cain Maven

Firstly, let me say that I am glad you were able to resolve this issue in a secure manner.  I completely understand your trepidation at responding to an email with sensitive information such as your SSN, and I would have been suspicious of that as well.  My apologies for the discomfort this caused you, and I have worked with the Tilia team about this and we have put in place an improved practice going forward so that we can create a better, more secure path forward when issues such as this arise.  Linden Lab is dedicated to handling personally identifiable information in a safe, secure manner and ensuring that our processes align with the highest standards of data protection to keep our Residents protected.  I appreciate you bringing this up, and don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have further questions on this issue.

*waves at all the Lindens*  Thanks for coming to say hi to all us ungrateful, critical, complaining residents.  This was fun to read and chuckle through.  It was fun to see a bit of personality show through your words and memes.  Appreciate you all making yourselves  (mostly) human.

/me privately wonders if their cookies were taken away until they agreed to make an appearance in this thread.

sshhhhh, don't give away my tactics.  😆

  4. Hi folks,

First, let me clarify something that has been said here.  Linden Lab does not have any kind of an agreement with BonnieBots.  Patch and I had a productive meeting with the creators yesterday to share ideas and provide some insight.  From that meeting, they then decided which path to take on their project.

As has been mentioned before, out of respect for all concerned in the matter, I turn your attention to reviewing the policy at stake, and understand that we will enforce this policy:

    • Information You Provide when Using our Services. Please note that our Services may offer chat functions (either one-to-one or within a limited group) or other forms of communication services (such as real time voice communication either one-to-one or within a limited group), forums, community environments (including multiplayer gameplay) or other tools that are either restricted to other account holders or Services users or that do not have a restricted audience and can be accessible by anyone. Any information, content or communications, including personal information, you provide when you use any of these features will be available to the recipients (dependent on the nature of the tool) and may be publicly posted and otherwise disclosed without limitation as to its use by us or by a third party.

    • While we endeavour at all times to protect the privacy of our users and to ensure no harm is caused through our Services, given the nature of the tools, we have no obligation to keep private any information you made available to other users or the public using these functions.

Should you have any concerns about the security of your personal information, please file a support ticket so that your concern can be addressed.

As far as the forums are concerned, this topic has been discussed and addressed.  Further attempts to create new threads will be locked as well, as per the Forum Guideline on reopening previously locked topics.

  5. Hi all, I understand some are upset by what they are seeing on the BonnieBots website.  Let me assure you that all the information they are displaying is accessible via lsl script call or openly available information on various web pages.  In other words, this is public information and has been for quite some time.  Nothing that is discoverable in this manner is considered personally identifiable information.  If you have something on your Profile you do not wish others to know, you should remove it at this time.  As has been pointed out, land owners have the ability to restrict access to private areas via the land management tools.

If you are concerned about the safety of your account, please enable MultiFactor Authentication.  The steps to do so can be found here:  accounts.secondlife.com/mfa/status

And, as always, if you believe anyone has broken the Terms of Service, please file an Abuse Report so that we may investigate the situation.

We are in communication with the owner of this system to ensure all it adheres to all requirements and will now be closing this thread.

It could be unrelated but I only know what I have been told and yes, its very awful. All I am saying is this should have been handled differently in a way that gives users ample time to fix it themselves. A lot of people didn't even know about it. Thats neither LL's or their fault. I am simply saying there are better and more modern ways to let people know. Log-in pop ups are the best option for something like this because if youre going to mess with peoples inventories, you really want to maximize the reach as best you can. Thats all I am saying.

    Hi TimKoul,

Actually, anyone affected was contacted by the Support team via email several weeks before we ran the automated process, in addition to the posts on the Blog, SL University,  and social media.  As hoarders of inventory ourselves, we completely understand the anxiety this type of operation can invoke, so we did our best to get the word out in as many places as we could as quickly as possible.  If you weren't contacted by Support (and be sure to check your email Spam folder to be sure), then you were not affected and the repair would not be run on your account at this time.  As others have suggested, missing inventory can be from several different causes, so contacting Support is the best way to see if there any help we can offer.

I hope that helps to shed some light on how we approached this.  As always, Support is more than happy to answer any questions you may have.  And we're a little more reliable than the rumor mill.   😁

Well, I think there are gradations of junk the Lindens will respond to.

Yes, there is the sacrosanct core of SL, "I get to do WTF I want on my land" and the Lindens uphold this if the items don't violate their TOS as such, but are just an aesthetic or noise problem, like unfinished plywood left out in the sun for years or a noisy YouTube player that no one can find in a complex build to block and shut up. These things they won't touch.

Except...very rarely, they do. When autoreturn is left off in 2007 by one of those accounts that got a free parcel, evidently, and never came back, and where junk piles up crazily on it, sometimes Lindens can be persuaded to remove everything but the owners' prims and put on autoreturn.

Something up in the air driving you crazy for years -- no, they don't usually respond.

In the case of those prims on physics, that was a multi-sim-wide griefer attack. The watermelon colour prims were all over -- I and others removed them and AR'd the griefer. this wasn't enough for them to entirely remove them from the sim -- and that account.

This "Governance2 Linden" (they never seem to have more human names apparently in an effort to prevent cults of personality -- and therefore vectors of attack -- growing up around them as happens with other Moles) told me that I should always make sure ARs have the name of the owner of the prim, a picture, and as much detail as possible.

Sometimes in grief attacks, unless you turn off particles soon enough and grab one of the prims, you can't see a name, so in those cases I just put "Governor Linden" herself as the name.

The real crux of this issue, however, is this: must you remain in AR purgatory and even hell, or can you go to SUPPORT and file a normal ticket as you would if it were only a Linden tree encroaching on your land?

I wish things of this nature would be treated just as natural disasters that just require garbage removal and not require a whole "Governance" study as to actors, their intentions, and their actions.

In this latest Governance video, the Lindens seem to imply you *can* send tickets to Support and not merely AR them. They mention that you cannot complain about griefing/garbage in Live Help or on telephone help, but then they say it can be filed with Support.

I almost wondered if they misspoke, as we are always told that they must be AR'd and Support won't act.

Even so, after I've filed repeated abuse reports, as have others, I usually do go to Support and try to get them to agree to escalate the ticket, citing all the past email copies of my ARs, and sometimes it works.

    Hi Prokofy,

Apologies if that was wasn't clear, but Abuse Related issues cannot be addressed by Support via Live Chat, Phone or Support Ticket.  Abuse Reports are needed for this and these do go to the Governance Team to review.   As you said, in cases where you can't get the owner of the objects name for the report (such as when particles are floating through the entire region), using Governor Linden is best.  In these cases, the  location and screen shot of the offending objects are important.  When Governance comes out to clean it up, they can get the name of the owner at that time and complete their investigation after things are cleaned up and back to normal again.  Otherwise, if it's just one or a few objects, it's best to make sure you have the correct owners name, just in case the object is gone by the time Governance has the chance to come out and take a look.

  8. Hi all!

So, yes, the process will not actually run until June 21.  We wanted to give those Residents affected time to organize/reorganize their inventories before we ran our process.  Support is also reaching out directly to Residents affected so we can offer some assistance before that date.  If you don't hear from us, then you are not affected at this time.  That said, now would be a great time for everyone (myself included) to organize all those shoes, hairs, accessories and everything else you've picked up in world or on the Marketplace into groupings that make sense for you. I know it's a tedious process (believe me, I know it will take me a significant amount of time to organize mine), but it will be so worth it in terms of better performance, ease of finding the object you are looking for and finding objects you forgot you bought that one late night.   😁

/me runs off to watch Alexa Linden's SL University talk on Inventory Tips:

  9. Good morning!  I just wanted to make you all aware that earlier this week we rolled out a new feature to Marketplace: Bulk Redelivery!  Enabling this will allow Merchants to send out updates on a product to anyone who has purchased or received it with the click of 1 button.  To see the status of your bulk redeliveries, you can click the Bulk Redelivery History link under Orders on your Merchant home page.

As with any new feature, please let us know via bug report (for bugs) or support ticket (for questions regarding the process) should any difficulties arise.

    Enjoy!

I go to land search, I search for Homestead Private Land. I get 356 results. 95% of these results is for anshe, a meager 5% is for other parcels of other estates while most estates are completely excluded. And this has been going on for over 6 months now.

The money the other estates are paying is not good enough or what?

Hi Count,  I'm sorry you're having trouble with Search.  We've tried to replicate the problem, but so far haven't had any luck.  Unfortunately, Search isn't an issue that we can troubleshoot in the forums since we need very specific information to try to track down the problem.  If you could submit a support ticket with the following information on it and ask it to be sent to my attention (I'll let them know to be on the look out for it) then we might have better luck trying to locate the issue.  For this repro, I will need you to use the official Second Life viewer, as the Firestorm viewer results can differ.  On that support ticket, please include the full parcel name and description of at least 1 but not more than 3 test parcels that should be showing in Search but are not.  Once I have that info, I can have an engineer take a look and we can get back to you on that support ticket as soon as we've had the chance to look into it.

    Thank you!

And it just logged me out again.  It is now 11:22am est - just 5 hours since the last time I was logged off and had to log back in. Again, it was in the process of doing a search.  I had been searching, using the dashboard, and my.secondlife.com for 5 hours without incident and then this.

Ok, if you haven't yet please do submit a support ticket with all that info so that we can start looking into the issue for you.

Thank you for replying Keira. Do we need to clear cache and cookies every day? Because just doing it once doesn't solve this issue.  Not really a solution.

    Hi Arwen!

No, you shouldn't have to be doing it every day.  The cookie will be good for quite a while, so if it's expiring on a daily basis, that's definitely something I want to look into for you.

  13. Hi all,

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you all are having.  Clearing cache and cookies should resolve the log out issues, but if you are still seeing them after doing that, please contact Support via ticket to let us know.   Being logged out on the regular is definitely not something we intended and will definitely look into it.  I see some of you mentioning getting logged out multiple times a day, and that's something we sure want to look into.  Please include the following info in your ticket:  what browser and version you are using, when the last time was that you cleared your cache and cookies in your browser, about what time SLT the multiple log outs occurred, and how many times you were logged out during that session.  The info from those tickets will make it's way to me and the Web team can start looking into those issues.

    Thank you!

  14. We have been taking steps to implement a Single Sign On process across all of Second Life’s web pages.  I wanted to make sure you were all aware of this so that if you get logged out of a web page and wonder why, this may be the culprit.  In the past, it has been possible to be logged into one page with one account and logged into another page with a different account.  Going forward, you will only need to log in one time to access all web pages with one account at a time.

If you have any difficulty logging in or making changes to your account, a quick clearing of your browser cookies and/or cache should resolve any issues.  Please contact our fabulous Support team if need additional assistance after taking those steps.

I was really hoping for a reduced resolution 3d viewer. Just enough to get users around to sales and events (and allow communication and purchases) when one is away from home.

    Hi Trinity!

Yeah, at this time we are focused on the non-graphical aspects for a mobile viewer.  That's not to say that some kind of graphics won't be available further down the line, but right not we're just focused on IM, followed by group chat, group and friendship management.  Once we have those tackled for both iOS and Android, we'll start working on another set of features, and I promise to give you all a sneak peek at what those will be just as soon as we have that feature set decided on.  Next year is going to be an exciting one for SL Mobile! 😁

  16. I've got a little gossip, but not sure how juicy it is.  😆  Android app is in the works!  We went with iOS first because we have more Residents on iOS devices, not because we don't love our Android Resis too!  Release for an Android app is going to be a little delayed after iOS because we still have some backend work to do and (in case you hadn't heard) we are frantically working on this eency little project called UPLIFT.  🤣  But, we're still working on what we can along side iOS.  Once we have a beta version of it that we can open up for you all to bang on, I'll drop an announcement in here so you all can sign up.

For how many more years do we need to wait for a Marketplace App?
I was the third, even if I did it wrong. Thank you.

    Hi Axel!

It's my hope it won't be years, but Marketplace does pose it's own set of challenges.  We have had (and will continue to have) many internal discussions about what features to introduce at what time and Marketplace did rank high on that list.  Right now, we're really focused on the social aspects like chat (both IM and group) and getting those right.  So, keep checking in here and when I have more info on that portion of it I'll announce it here first!  🙂
