  1. The objective of an overly limited support system is to drive people to the support forum where Linden Lab does not have to pay the people giving the support.
  2. Resolved. The wiki could use some polish.
  3. Ok, so, I'm a couple years late to the EEP party, but this is the feedback thread, so here's mine: I'm sure there are a lot of great suggestions on what could be done to improve this, but for me the biggest one that jumped out at me was the differences between the sun and moon as objects. I would propose that the sun/moon objects be changed to be identical in their properties and limits. This would allow for binary star system scenes (which I'm positive have already been mentioned), and it would also allow for proper lighting when doing scenes such as the following, where the secondary moon is substantially dimmer on the sun facing edge that it would be in a realistic situation:
  4. Had a daydream years ago about a total solar Eclipses happening in SL. And while it's static, EEP has made it possible.
  5. "especially one that is short-lived and without basis in the object's qualities;" Being that this part of the definition would indicate that a fad does not necessarily need to be short lived, but usually is, I would say that barring this qualification that Breedable pets would qualify as a fad. People are pretty heavily invested into cats, horses, etc. If that would be considered a fad, I'd also have to say that Tiny Empires and 7 Seas Fishing would be included also. Defining them as fads though rests solely on whether or not there is a required minimum time length of popularity.
  6. Regarding wills, be sure you fully understand an applicable laws in your state/country regarding a will. Within the US, there are variations in different states as to what constitutes a legal will, and Linden Lab will not hesitate to exploit any error on your part if it means keeping all the L$ on the account for themselves.
  7. Likely that is just the tip of the ice berg with this. I would love to hear Linden Lab respond to it with proof that they aren't doing exactly that. It would seem our passwords and user information are for sale to the highest bidder otherwise.
  8. Yet more grubby little hands involved with the money. Lovely. "NO VALUE, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, IS GUARANTEED OR WARRANTED WITH RESPECT TO ANY CONTENT, INCLUDING VIRTUAL TOKENS OR STORED VALUE BALANCES." "The Tilia Service is subject to scheduled and unscheduled service interruptions and loss of server data, which you do not own and for which you will not hold us liable. Translation: Your money is no longer your money nor is does it have any real value so long as it is in our system anywhere, and we can take all of it, call it a "loss of server data", and you have no legal recourse. Not that anyone will have any money left anyway after every middle-man takes his cut of the transaction fees. Seems to me that Linden Research is looking to destroy any use of their virtual world as supplementary income.
  9. Ok, I spoke with Theresa in the live chat, and apparently this is a known issue with the system. I still don't have the proper options when I try and submit a ticket, but the next step currently is to go through and try it via a different web browser. Thank you LittleMe for the direction to livechat.
  10. Have done that (cookie clearing). Attached image is the only menu structure I get. Also I have premium membership through 11-26 currently.
  11. Once the ID verification information is sent, it needs to be stored on LL's side to stop this nonsense. Having to send scanned images or personal information off of passports or such over the web is bad enough as it is. Having to repeatedly do it is just asking for trouble.
  12. Supposedly there is some group at Linden Lab that deals with Process Credit issues. Aside from this group supposedly sending "additional information" e-mails that magically never make it to my e-mail address (my guess is that they typed it in manually, and like 99% of the rest of the world misspelled my name), it is *impossible* to file a support ticket in regards to these problems. When you open a new ticket, you get *one* option: "Account" Under that, you get 5 or 6 sub-options, none of which have to do with billing or process credit. Meanwhile, the billing phone number is only answered between 9am and 3pm PST on business days. AND the people who do process credit are supposedly *not* part of the billing people. The only option is to file a support ticket with the wrong sub-topic, which pretty much guarantees it will be lost. So basically, if you want to do a process credit, and you run into problems, you have no way of contacting the people who are holding *your* money. This needs to change.
  13. Well, at least your e-mail was received. I requested a process credit last Tuesday, and only through contacting billing support today did I discover that they had supposedly sent me an "additional information" e-mail. I contacted billing support and spoke with Ginger who told me the same thing about the "additional information" being required, etc. Except to my knowledge I never got the e-mail. It is not in any folder, spam, or trash, etc. She also claims to have opened a ticket and escalated it to the people who work with process credit (supposedly this is a different group from the billing department that is behind the great "support system" firewall, and cannot be contacted by phone), however the support ticket number I was given does not exist on my ticket history. Not in open status, closed status, or pending. It's simply non-existent. I received an e-mail from Ginger at around 12:45pm today, stating the ticket had been created. It is now past 3pm and it's not showing up. (see edit below) Meanwhile my 30 days are ticking away (5 of which are already gone). It's amazing how important it is when real money is being brought *into* Second Life. Got an issue, we have a phone number with live people from 9 to 5 on business days. Want to take money *out* of SL? You'll need to wait, send additional information, wait more, hope they don't forget, oh and if there's a problem, you'll need to file a ticket that will sit in queue for days, all while your account is under threat of termination if you don't respond to that e-mail which may or may not have ended up in your spam folder, etc. I get that patience is needed, but giving me a song and dance about creating a support ticket and escalating it, etc. when nothing is actually being done is over the line. (edit: Through support, it has been verified that this ticket *does* apparently exist, however because of a system bug/problem, support has stated that tickets created by their agents on behalf of SL residents are *not* showing up on the ticket history)
  14. " LL is probably not going to launch a money laundering investigation over four dollars. " Arenanet would. But no, I doubt LL would.
  15. I agree with the need for a category just for gacha items, perhaps with a few (but not too many) sub categories. The primary reason the MP is flooded with gacha items is because people believe (perhaps for good reason) that they can profit from playing gachas and then selling the rares at an inflated price. If that's true, fine, more power to them, but it *is* affecting the use of the marketplace for people who are shopping for non-gacha items.
  16. (disclaimer: I don't know if this is related specifically to how Modo 902 exports .dae files, or if it is limited to Modo only.) I don't know if anyone else has run into this, but if you get "Material of model is not a subset of reference model" on the primary mesh file, I think I've found a solution for the problem (maybe this is a known issue?) I thought that problem might be with the file, but it *appears* that the issue is using more than 1 space in the model layer name itself. Example: "MeshLOD1" works "Mesh LOD1" also works but "Mesh LOD 1" results in an error on upload. I have tested it a few times with a couple different models, and it appears to be repeatable. Step 1: Make a mesh model in Modo (I currently use 902, I don't know if this is version specific) Step 2: in the mesh layer, give it a name that contains at least two spaces separating characters (example: "My Mesh LOD1") Step 3: upload via mesh upload into SL (Firestorm 5.0.7 (52912)) This should result in the file upload error "Material of model is not a subset of reference model". That said, different program versions, whether it be Modo, or Firestorm, or different SL clients, etc. may not run into this problem, but though it was worth pointing out.
  17. hmm.. It was definitely working for a short bit. I pulled data for Dec 2nd through Dec 31, and was definitely not able to go further back than a non-premium account should be able to go. Wonder if something else is causing the issue, or if a file got reverted some how.
  18. Btw. I know it's been a while, but holidays have been busy. Thank you all for your assistance. I can see a method around the problem I was facing. Millions of cats and birds are thankful that they will now be properly categorized (and I've found a different use for this process as well along the way, so I will put it to good use.). Thanks again
  19. So,it's a given that Process Credit requests take a number of business days. It's been that way for a long time. But with the increase in rates and such coming up on the 3rd (it's already the 2nd according to LL servers on the financial side), my mind is wondering: Will the fee rates that are applied to orders made on the 1st/2nd be based on the date the order was placed, or based on the date that Linden Lab gets to processing them, because if it's the latter, they have absolutely no incentive to do any process credit requests until after the third, when they will skim 2x the money. So.. how is this being handled?
  20. I'm having the same problem. It appears that when the page loads, it's trying to load the last month's worth of transactions, but doesn't account for the change in year, which then breaks the entire calendar portion of the tool.
  21. Multiple un-linked products. Click 1, change the image, click a second different one, and the texture may not be the same. I am looking to use one HUD for multiple products. And Qie, you are correct, it's 40 textures. I got the 32 from a previous version I was working on. However all that is moot due to the information mentioned by Nova. I'm going to need to either store the texture UUID's in the product itself (not the HUD, which cripples potential future release of different texture sets), or I'll need to skip the visual feed back where the HUD modifies it's settings to match the chosen texture. I have a lot of reworking to do on this unfortunately. Still, I'm curios as to how the math would work for the following (this is simply wanting to know at this point, because I've been doing it wrong and I want to know what I was doing incorrectly): When the HUD receives a UUID, it searches for the UUID in the big list of UUID's for a match. Assuming it finds one, it *should* be possible to determine the three factors based on the index of that image, right? like..: if(index < 20) { image = cat;} (because I have orgnaized the images in that manner: 0 to 19 is cat, 20 to 39 is bird. And then within each is the color/size varaints. so once I know the image is a cat, what math is used to determine which size the cat is within a given stride (stride = 5 due to 5 colors)? I've been doing: size = (index % stride) + 1; followed by: color = ((index - size) / stride) + 1; Is that correct? Is there a more efficient way to do it?
  22. I fully understand why that is true, due to needing to protect IP. That doesn't make that anything less than a devastating blow to my entire product design To be sure, I'm not shooting the messenger, but this wrecks everything. I think the only positive I can find out of all this is that I haven't put any products using this system on the MP yet. Bad news as it may be, thank you for saying something.
  23. Qie is correct, it is a total of 32 textures. 16 cat, 16 bird. a partial example, using names instead of UUID's: cat-white-tiny, cat-white-small, cat-white-medium, cat-white-large, cat-black-tiny, cat-black-small, cat-black-medium...etc..etc.. I have a "switch" between "bird" and "cat". I have a four notch "knob" for color, and a five notch "knob" for size. I want to set the switch and knobs to get the UUID for the desired combination *and* I want to be able to touch a given face on a prim (think like a picture on a wall in a frame), and have the HUD take the UUID and change the HUD switch/knobs to show the combination. Basically a two-way conversion. The core of my problem (aside from cognative ineptitude) is working with the math in regards to lists starting with 0, indexes starting with 1, and while I know what it does and have used it before, for some reason my brain just likes to feign ignorance about the use of % (modulus).
