More or less I just leave any gesture spam clubs instantly. It lets me know the social space there isn't the kind I enjoy, even if the music is good.

It really depends on if they'd consider it an ad farm or not.
Political advertising is entirely allowed on your home parcel. Though perhaps not with signs that big - but in that case, the neighbour would also get theirs removed.
Should be interesting to see what the result is.

If you are a member of the Second Life Birthday group for this and the last shop and hop they had group only early access a day before official opening. When i visited about 9-10am SLT (early evening UK time) excluding the odd Linden, Mole & Booth owner the regions were almost empty virtually no lag to fight through. As it got in to early afternoon onwards SLT last region i visited the numbers picked up
Ah, I should've known. Early access in the Halloween event, for the birthday event group!

Just everything about the Shop & Hop sims. Please. If you're going to have mass events like this, do something to help them go smoothly. The vendors don't even work when half the visitors use half a second of script time and like 5-10mb of memory.
Would it really be too much to ask for to have some kind of script use gate for these linden events? I literally cannot shop at them.

There is this trend of certain big creators in SL having in-world sales.
Of course, this means that their woefully small homestead sims are full 24/7 until the sale ends, making both getting in and actually doing the shopping a miserable experience. Yet since the sales are only active in-world... welp.
I also saw a person there with a two million polygons and 10 mb of script usage so this is kind of a double peeve.

Final problem solved: to blind someone using RLVa, you set an overlay.
The following will do it, if anyone ever finds this topic and has the same issue:
llOwnerSay("@setoverlay=n,setoverlay_texture:e2244626-f22f-4839-8123-1e7baddeb659=force");

Well, I know how to enable restrictions now. However, this command is unknown for whatever version Firestorm runs.
I know it's entirely possible to blind a wearer using RLVa, though. So now the question, then, is what command accomplishes that. If there is a comprehensive list of RLVa commands I can''t find them.
-
Problem solved. From a helpful group chat: "You need =n to apply a restriction; =y releases it."
I somewhat assumed that it meant "yes" as in "yes, this is on".

If you're on Firestorm, the RLVa menu includes an actual console where you can enter RLV commands. It also has a list of active restrictions/exceptions.
> camdrawmax:1=y Invalid command > @camdrawmax:1=y INFO: @camdrawmax:1=y (unset) >
But I have no idea why it says "unset."
Well, that helps a little - though I'm also getting the "unset" thing no matter what values I enter for the cam-control things, and they don''t actually do anything.

So. I'm looking to get into scripting for RLV. The syntax is a little hard to understand though - does anyone have any open source ones I could learn from? For example, a script to blind the user, which is what I'm trying to make. The wiki sadly isn't very helpful since it lacks any actual examples. And RLV itself gives zero feedback.
For my specific example, what I'm trying to do is simply have a script, that on attach, blinds the user. Therefore...
llOwnerSay("@camdrawmax:1=y,camdrawalphamax:1=y");
This should, from what I understand, blind the user. It does not. Therefore, if there are any kind souls out there, show me how it's meant to be done and I can take it from there.
edit, addition: I'm basically not sure if I just misunderstand these specific commands, or if I'm missing out some RLV-engaging command before trying to specify.

Anything that decreases fps to a point where it's intolerable is NOT an upgrade IMHO.
And yes, more people would appreciate a fix for group chat than being able.to see Saturn.
Well, I will tell you, it doesn't have to be Saturn. You can make the moon a *literal cheese wheel* as well.
(I don't think the lindens know how to fix group chats at this point, honestly - as good as that'd be)

Currently, its this entire EEP thing in Second Life. I understand wanting to upgrade things to make it a better experience. I fail to see how EEP does this. I really believe this is going to be utilized by a small amount of users and I cannot see at this point how its better than the current Windlight system. It seems like change only for the sake of change.
I have given it a fair shot in EEP enabled viewers and I am not sold on it. There is a horrible fps issue with water enabled-WATER ENABLED!? And there is no way to disable the crossfading of skies and many older Windlights which I happen to like don't look right in an EEP viewer. The lighting is all wrong.
There are other things that need more attention than this in my humble opinion. Group chat for one , let's get that fixed once and for all, for starters and other things.....🤪
EEP does have some distinct upgrades - being able to change the celestial bodies and clouds, for example. That makes estimating unearthly environments *much* more immersive, sometime. Here's an example that wasn't possible before, and it's still a rather early attempt at EEP environments...

I've said it before, but please, creators. For the love of baby otters, tell us what permissions your friggin' clothes have.
I should not have to IM the creator of an outfit I want to find out of it's modifiable or not! Ever! It takes three letters on your product image, and a lot of vendors can even give you the info through a popup.

Sadly there isn't. Only the complexity one, which of course, doesn't really work since it vastly underestimates the real weight of too many polygons. Even Firestorm doesn't have such an option.

That's part of it but I also heard there were some issues with the women's Slink body in that you had to have all the feet and hands to receive the updated version for free or something like that. There are some people who feel they are ripped off if they have to pay for an update, which I agree with. I think the BOM updates should all be free but then again it's just my opinion and I am not the creator of any bodies or heads. So, maybe there were certain issues with the Slink male and updates also...
This is not the case, for the record; the Slink Redux with BoM was a free upgrade. For all the body parts - and it also updated much faster than the competition.
-
The answer seems simple to me. It's not the most typically attractive shape. Jake, Gianni and Legacy are all massive beefcakes (Gianni and Jake in particular) whereas the Slink is more "average but toned man".
Much the same reason as to why the Slink Physique and other modestly curvy bodies for the ladies aren't as popular as the more pillowy ones.
A huge chunk of residents opt for maximum sex appeal.
(for the record, as a woman, I by far prefer the slink... :P)

I'm actually *mostly* happy with customer service on SL.
Relatively so, I''m fine with being ignored on feature requests. Even if it's a basic feature that I think every product should have (enable script removal if your clothes are no mod, for the love of god!) since I can simply choose not to shop wherever it is.
What I can''t tolerate is when I report outright broken items - for example, buttons not working on a hud from one of the presumably biggest businesses on SL - and just being flat out ignored forever. Were this real life, I'd have returned the product, and then taken them to court if they tried to refuse. A big part of the frustration bad customer service causes in SL is probably because you have no recourse - merchants are allowed to sell products however broken they want. If I could force a refund and have the item deleted from my inventory it'd be a lot less frustrating.

This is a frequent issue I have. I like to play a game I call "Hair, clothes, or skin" and usually I get it wrong. Or at least, it's never the one I was hoping for.

One of the big names is, of course, why I started this topic. The one with a colorful, edible name certainly doesn't optimize much at all.

Hello, dear SL.
I realize this is extremely niche, but after gasping in horror when I realized just how many 1024x1024 textures every single button on my beautiful new top had, I'm looking for clothiers that... well, don't do that.
Any recommendations for ladies' clothing that's built a little more... economically? As in, ideally no scripts or deletable ones, not max resolution texture overload, perhaps on the lighter side of triangles? I'm not looking for any style in particular, at least - I can always change that.
Yours truly,
some otter

How do you have a road trip in SL when most sims aren't connected? Even if they are, you probably don't have rez rights on all of them. Genuinely curious cause that sounds pretty fun.
Ride from the northernmost end of a mainland road to the southernmost. All the road-ends have rez zones and your car won't despawn while you're riding it.

SL me is the same as RL me, just wearing a different mask. It's at least as much me as the me that goes to work and pretends to be a professional adult is.
Idealized physically, sure... But still!

It may be over. I managed to log and haven't crashed out in some 30 minutes...

I remember the days before Cloudflare.
Turns out everyone using the same service is a problem when that service goes down.
What are some more of your pet peeves?

People who don't understand that the lack of a dot above my head means voice is disabled.
I had someone apparently talk at me on voice for like ten minutes before starting to complain about me ignoring them, and it's not the first time either.
