The Haunted Halloween season is just around the corner — how will you celebrate?

our store, [ LuNi ] has always been part of the creepy side of second life. since inception we have enjoyed creating spooky content for the grid, from costumes, to makeup/skins, to items that inspire fear. being a real life makeup artist for a haunted house for several years, i have endevored to bring a bit of that love of horror movie makeup to my creations, and though we are unable to really go all out this year for halloween due to real life, i hope you will stop by and check out our items for your upcomming costume needs!

that guy you are calling a spaz is a pretty well known and respected member of the computer/tech community... so while we might not agree that its a good demo of second life, what he's saying and showing is what a massive group of people are now going to see and think about second life in the future.
-
i don't get what you are upset about... your profile is not on the web for all the world to see. you have it set so people can see it only if they log into the website. what more privacy do you want? why on earth are you putting important first life details on your sl profile anyway??
-
i'm inclined to agree with this, especially since our profiles have been on the web for a long time. you could search the sl search via a web browser for a few years...
also after poking around the web profile thing, i've noticed that if you are not logged in, your rl info area is not displayed on the my.secondlife.com profile. so its not out there for all the world to see.
and honestly, you shouldn't be putting that much rl info in your profile anyway!

your first day sounds a lot like my first day in minecraft LOL i hope you will continue to immerse yourself in our world as much as you can (though i know with as much work as you have heaped on your plate that might not be much time at all) its fun in here!
-
Galileo your vision of changes scares me. It's very unfair and I hope doesn't happen.
indeed. i'm glad people like him aren't in charge of things.

i do not have stable income in real life due to the lack of good jobs in my area and having to take care of my mother who had a stroke. i do not pay for my broadband connection, it is provided by a family member who wanted to make sure my mother and i were able to stay in touch with loved ones. so no i cannot afford the lump sum of a yearly subscription, nor can i afford the monthly fee. second life is pretty much the only escape i have.
-
i agree.. speaking as an unpaying member. i have been here since 2006, i am an active member of second life, i have a store with my partner and enjoy all that second life has to offer. i do not have the money to afford a premium account, i enjoy second life because i do not have to pay a fee to enjoy it.
-
speak for yourself i enjoy sl every day as much as i did when i started back in 06. i'm definitely not paying my last respects, and if you are, perhaps its time for you to find a change of scene.
-
as a long time sims fan, i welcome you once more into my computer mr. humble will you be leaving pc's on our doorsteps here as well??
honestly though, i hope that you will enjoy your time as our CEO and i hope that our meaner spirited residents won't stab you too badly.

looks to me like you went to the wrong sim, cause there is plenty of awesome mindblowing mesh stuff popping up on the beta grid. i saw whole dinosaur skeletons, and some pretty neat buildings the last time i was on. but we all have to learn before we can make anything and that's one of the reasons SL is great because we aren't limited to just "qualified" in 4 years i have learned more than i ever have about 3d and texture design, and my stuff started out pretty bad...
honestly you just sound like another bitter customer who is using this post to post your offtopic complaints.
-
my upload was from 3ds max 2011. so yes it works.
-
its a dumpster.
-
my first mesh came from a 3ds max file i made back in june while learning the software:
and here is how it looked in sl
very awesome so far

you make such a great point especially with your last statement. the first thing i do when i find a new game or virtual world is to check the forums. see what people are complaining about. see if its stable enough to even bother downloading. looking though what people say on these public issues really does not sway towards the good end. and especially because LL does not take the time to respond anymore. it makes me very sad because i have been here for 4 years, and i love this place and the people i have met, and i really am scared for what is coming. i don't want to lose my world.
-
in my case someone did make a big stink of it. a blog was made last year with a list of second life avatars who had facebook accounts. even though i used my real photos and spoke to real friends on it as well, i was labled as "fake" the blog contained instructions on how to report the accounts to facebook and have them banned. i switched my name to my rl name and dumped my sl friends off the account in order to preserve contact with friends and family that i spoke to via facebook.
-
yeah don't let people know you use an avatar facebook. there's a blog (or was) listing avatar names and links to their facebook profiles, with instructions on how to have them banned from facebook. in my case i was using my sl name in place of my real name for privacy reasons but i had rl friends as well as sl friends on there. to keep from losing my account i had to switch to my real name and dump my sl friends. this is why AU was useful though so many people dogged it.
-
i totally agree with your comment. i used AU for more than just SL and i'm really disappointed that it was just dropped like this. i can't have an sl facebook because facebook has a policy against "fake people" so AU was my replacement for that. sure it was annoying when people would add you without even bothering to speak to you but it was a place where you could connect with others.
thankfully there are other sl profile sites, which i shall not name here for fear that LL purchases and closes them down as well, but it sucks for the gamers who were in more than just SL.

Welcoming Teen Grid Organizations to the Main Grid
A group blog by Secondlife in General
there are viewers that get around banlines and being banned from a sim, i'm not talking about the good ones that follow the rules but the ones that we can't see to get rid of on the grid.
of course i am all for teens being here if they follow the rules. i just hope LL will be making sure that those rules are not easily jumped over.

to me this would mean that all teens would have to only use the LL viewer... because i'm sure some 3rd party viewers would allow this limit to be ignored.

their cameras will still reach outside of the pg sims and while i get what you're saying i also get what shockwave is saying. there's no way to block their cameras from seeing into the mature sim that borders the pg sim. they were not expressing concern about visitors but camera panners.
unless SL will be moving the mainland around this is still a problem.

rlv has nothing to do with ratings lol the yuss/nuu hud for kid avvies uses rlv scripts. just because something was meant for something adult doesn't mean everything involved with it has to be adult.
and i agree it would be a cool way to enhance the attraction, but i doubt it would ever be added..
