  1. see honestly this is what i was assuming would be the sign up portion of things. i can totally understand quality and standard control if you were LL trying to get custom content for their avatars set up in say, the welcome area, or something like that. just like being in one of their events, there's rules and standards there, no biggie. when it comes to creating at large, i don't think we should be having to send people through so many hoops for the base avatar, even if it is meant to be a throw away newbie avatar.
  2. aye i figured, but even still, that means they had some sort of way to communicate with their user base, even if it was a small swath of them, and ignored the concerns brought up. its just as bad as when they brought out mesh to begin with and then were shocked when we wanted to make mesh wearables instead of just objects... even though it was communicated to them countless times before release...
  3. heck i didn't even know we HAD an official discord... that makes this even more disappointing, because if there are creators in there, having their concerns ignored, the disconnect is deliberate...
  4. as a creator and a 17 year user of second life i'm honestly really disappointed with all of this. first of all why are we being made to apply for an avatar dev kit? why is this not being provided just like ruth was provided? this is a HUGE wall that a lot of new creators already face in an era where to make anything wearable, you need a base to rig it on and most of us who do make wearables know the struggle of getting that first dev kit so people will actually be able to WEAR your stuff... for you to add a wall like this to the base avatar that all new people in sl will be using, basically cuts off all new creators from making anything wearable. having to apply is intimidating but then you have to sit here trying to make sense of all this legal-ese in the SDK license... why is this not just being made for us to use to bring about a new era of content for new users? why is this not being freely given, like ruth was, for new users to create, learn, and share with! this feels very DOA and like ya'll did not really expect any adoption of these heads/bodies at all with the way this is written. this license shows a MASSIVE disconnect between LL and how content creators in second life work. i have not had to read through this many terms for any of the bodies i work with on a dev kit level. this is utter ridiculous and that's coming from someone who has been a massive second life cheerleader for 17 years now.
  5. igmarpo, please search marketplace for RAAWR mods! you might find one that you are looking for. unlike human avatars furry avatars are mod and there are many mods on the marketplace for them!
  6. tweeneedoo thankfully does not squish the skeleton like the toddleedo so you can just make regular clothing using the sl avatar to model on. if you don't know how to make mesh clothing you can look up tutorials for that or you can buy templates on marketplace just like the toddleedoo.
  7. rlv has nothing to do with ratings lol the yuss/nuu hud for kid avvies uses rlv scripts. just because something was meant for something adult doesn't mean everything involved with it has to be adult. and i agree it would be a cool way to enhance the attraction, but i doubt it would ever be added..
  8. our store, [ LuNi ] has always been part of the creepy side of second life. since inception we have enjoyed creating spooky content for the grid, from costumes, to makeup/skins, to items that inspire fear. being a real life makeup artist for a haunted house for several years, i have endevored to bring a bit of that love of horror movie makeup to my creations, and though we are unable to really go all out this year for halloween due to real life, i hope you will stop by and check out our items for your upcomming costume needs!
  9. a wonderful woman named minx who passed away in rl at the end of 06, gave me my first job as a dancer and dj at her club when i was a noobie. she was very kind to me and i thought of her as a mother figure. a jerk who will remain nameless inspired me to take photography in sl seriously, pretty much the only thing i can fondly remember from him.
  10. that guy you are calling a spaz is a pretty well known and respected member of the computer/tech community... so while we might not agree that its a good demo of second life, what he's saying and showing is what a massive group of people are now going to see and think about second life in the future.
  11. i don't get what you are upset about... your profile is not on the web for all the world to see. you have it set so people can see it only if they log into the website. what more privacy do you want? why on earth are you putting important first life details on your sl profile anyway??
  12. i'm inclined to agree with this, especially since our profiles have been on the web for a long time. you could search the sl search via a web browser for a few years... also after poking around the web profile thing, i've noticed that if you are not logged in, your rl info area is not displayed on the my.secondlife.com profile. so its not out there for all the world to see. and honestly, you shouldn't be putting that much rl info in your profile anyway!
  13. your first day sounds a lot like my first day in minecraft LOL i hope you will continue to immerse yourself in our world as much as you can (though i know with as much work as you have heaped on your plate that might not be much time at all) its fun in here!
  14. Galileo your vision of changes scares me. It's very unfair and I hope doesn't happen. indeed. i'm glad people like him aren't in charge of things.
  15. i do not have stable income in real life due to the lack of good jobs in my area and having to take care of my mother who had a stroke. i do not pay for my broadband connection, it is provided by a family member who wanted to make sure my mother and i were able to stay in touch with loved ones. so no i cannot afford the lump sum of a yearly subscription, nor can i afford the monthly fee. second life is pretty much the only escape i have.
  16. i agree.. speaking as an unpaying member. i have been here since 2006, i am an active member of second life, i have a store with my partner and enjoy all that second life has to offer. i do not have the money to afford a premium account, i enjoy second life because i do not have to pay a fee to enjoy it.
  17. speak for yourself i enjoy sl every day as much as i did when i started back in 06. i'm definitely not paying my last respects, and if you are, perhaps its time for you to find a change of scene.
  18. as a long time sims fan, i welcome you once more into my computer mr. humble will you be leaving pc's on our doorsteps here as well?? honestly though, i hope that you will enjoy your time as our CEO and i hope that our meaner spirited residents won't stab you too badly.
  19. did you ever figure out what your issue was? i've been having this problem a lot even when wearing absolutely no scripts (or prims) what so ever. my tickets go unanswered or closed with ridiculous responses about them seeing that i can log in now! (logging in is not the problem.. leaving the sim i live in is..) that do not even help the situation, and i'm really losing my patience with things
  20. looks to me like you went to the wrong sim, cause there is plenty of awesome mindblowing mesh stuff popping up on the beta grid. i saw whole dinosaur skeletons, and some pretty neat buildings the last time i was on. but we all have to learn before we can make anything and that's one of the reasons SL is great because we aren't limited to just "qualified" in 4 years i have learned more than i ever have about 3d and texture design, and my stuff started out pretty bad... honestly you just sound like another bitter customer who is using this post to post your offtopic complaints.
  21. my upload was from 3ds max 2011. so yes it works.
  22. my first mesh came from a 3ds max file i made back in june while learning the software: and here is how it looked in sl very awesome so far
  23. you make such a great point especially with your last statement. the first thing i do when i find a new game or virtual world is to check the forums. see what people are complaining about. see if its stable enough to even bother downloading. looking though what people say on these public issues really does not sway towards the good end. and especially because LL does not take the time to respond anymore. it makes me very sad because i have been here for 4 years, and i love this place and the people i have met, and i really am scared for what is coming. i don't want to lose my world.
