  1. Hi everyone. *takes a deep breath in* So this is going to be a long post. Starting with last Saturday, I am unable to teleport to some sims (Smith, Aqua, Lime, Honey Isle, etc - apparently random sims). I did nothing special, so the problem occured all of a sudden. I usually use Phoenix Viewer but I switched to SL's official Viewer and I discovered I have the same issue. I kind of tried everything that I personally can: clearing cache/cookies and teleport history, putting on a noob-ish avie and even detaching all its attachements, trying to teleport from a quiet region, did a clean re-install for both of the Viewers, changed my bandwidth to 1500 after a speed test, lowering all my graphics options and reducing draw distance even to 24, deactivated all gestures, un-installed my anti-virus' firewall, etc. Other people have no problems teleporting in those regions. No, I am pretty sure I am not banned and the regions aren't offline also. Yes, I am adult verified and the box of 'Adult sims' is ticked. Even if someone tries to teleport me into one of them, it won't work. I personally tried walking from nearby sims into them - the result? My avie kept walking until the point of 'underground' until somewhere at the middle of the sim and finally crashed, as usual. Here's the message that shows up when I try to log in into one of those sims, as the loading stops at "Waiting for region handshake...": "We're having trouble connecting. There may be a problem with your internet connection or the Second Life servers. You can either check your internet connection and try again in a few minutes, click Help to connect to our support site, or click teleport to attempt to teleport home." When I try to teleport when I am already logged in or walk from a nerby region, this is what it happens: First, the bar loads slowly, "Connecting to region" slightly reaching the middle then my image turns grey and I have the options to "View IM and chat" or "Quit". Here is the crash log of an attempt to reach one of those sims: 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: LLAppViewer::initConfiguration: Loading settings file listC:\Program Files\Phoenix Viewer\app_settings\settings_files.xml 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: LLAppViewer::loadSettingsFromDirectory: Attempting to load settings for the group CrashSettings - from location Default 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: LLAppViewer::loadSettingsFromDirectory: Loaded settings file C:\Program Files\Phoenix Viewer\app_settings\settings_crash_behavior.xml 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: LLAppViewer::loadSettingsFromDirectory: Attempting to load settings for the group Global - from location Default 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: LLAppViewer::loadSettingsFromDirectory: Loaded settings file C:\Program Files\Phoenix Viewer\app_settings\settings.xml 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: LLAppViewer::loadSettingsFromDirectory: Attempting to load settings for the group PerAccount - from location Default 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: LLAppViewer::loadSettingsFromDirectory: Loaded settings file C:\Program Files\Phoenix Viewer\app_settings\settings_per_account.xml 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: LLAppViewerWin32::initParseCommandLine: Language: en 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: LLAppViewerWin32::initParseCommandLine: Location: US 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: LLAppViewerWin32::initParseCommandLine: Variant: ISO_8859-1 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: LLAppViewer::initConfiguration: Using command line specified settings filename: C:\Documents and Settings\UserXP\Application Data\SecondLife\user_settings\settings_phoenix.xml 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: LLAppViewer::loadSettingsFromDirectory: Attempting to load settings for the group CrashSettings - from location User 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: LLAppViewer::loadSettingsFromDirectory: Loaded settings file C:\Documents and Settings\UserXP\Application Data\SecondLife\user_settings\settings_crash_behavior.xml 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: LLAppViewer::loadSettingsFromDirectory: Attempting to load settings for the group Global - from location User 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: LLAppViewer::loadSettingsFromDirectory: Loaded settings file C:\Documents and Settings\UserXP\Application Data\SecondLife\user_settings\settings_phoenix.xml 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: HippoGridManager::parseFile: Loading grid info file C:\Documents and Settings\UserXP\Application Data\SecondLife\user_settings\grid_info.xml. 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z INFO: HippoGridManager::parseFile: Loading grid info file C:\Program Files\Phoenix Viewer\app_settings\default_grids.xml. 2012-04-11T13:18:36Z WARNING: HippoGridManager::setCurrentGrid: Unknown grid ''. After 3 days of waiting, of course I received an unhelpful answer. They told me to do a clean re-install, thing that I had already stated I did. I think I added like 7 comments to the ticket so far... and I'm still waiting. Please help me, Rosey Shim Later comment (1): Yeah well, I do use a regular cable. My internet's speed is very good, I could say. All applications run well and in SL I usually have no lag at all. About the *again* clean re-install, yes done, too bad it made no difference. Not sure if this is the problem, since I've always had both SL's official Viewer and Phoenix installed without any issues. In any case, thanks for your fast reply! Later comment (2): #Lindal: yes, it seems I am able to choose the grid at logging. I'd disable the feature, but how?
  2. ''The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.'' Quite annoying, isn't it? I reinstalled my PC recently and I installed a part of the programs I need to help my PC run properly. However, it seems they're not enough for SL to run. I've researched and found out this problem sometimes occurs due Microsoft Visual C++. I installed this (to be more exact - Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable x86 9.0.21022). However, I got the same error message. Next, I upgraded to Service Pack 3. Again, no result - the same error occurs. I'm confused and tired. I really need to do something about this - any suggestions would be greatly welcomed. Sincerely, Rosey Later edit: Sorry, forgot to mention that. Yes, I tried reinstalling it (it was the first thing I tried, actually) - 2 times. No result. Solved: Thank you very much, Mekaboo. Although your solution didn't work 100% for me, here it's what I did in case there's someone else who needs to fix this, too: I installed the AppFix and it installed a previous version of Visual C++ (I had a 2008 one and it installed the 2005 one). Next, the application wanted to install the .NET Framework. However, since I can't access Microsoft sites (it's a pretty common problem), it could not connect and download it from Microsoft. I had to search it and install it on my own (it wasn't very easy, but not even impossible - there are some sites who offer this application without redirecting/connecting to Microsoft main site). Next, I uninstalled SL (by the way, I use Phoenix Viewer) and deleted all it's components from my PC (folder and even installing application). I downloaded a fresh copy from their main site and installed it again - well, this time, the application worked perfectly without any errors. I'm not very sure which of the above solved the problem, but I'm happy it's gone. Thank you all for your time and answers!
  3. Good evening. I will start by mentioning that this problem is very annoying. I am a very active SL user and not being able to play the game is a real pain :( My main problem is that the viewer won't run. A small window pops up giving me an error message about the fact that my ''..graphics card are outdated, did not install properly....etc''. This happend since I used SpeedUpMyPC which actually (after ''fixing the errors'') changed my resolution, uninstalled my graphics card and changed my monitor type. I have to mention that I have a NVIDIA GEFORCE FX 5500 GPU, however, my computer doesn't recognize it anymore. It's like it's ''unplugged''. Another thing to mention is that I don't have the drivers installation CD and whenever I try to use the NVIDIA site to download specific drivers (I think I've tried over 10 versions by now), they tell me at somepoint that the drivers are not compatible with my hardware. Another ''interesting'' thing is that I can't change my monitor type. It's set as ''Default Monitor'' and the ''CHANGE'' button is greyed out. Also, in Display Manager, there is no monitor category, so no matter what I try, I can't change it. Here are some info about my PC (not sure if they're all required, but I try to give as many info as possible): System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2 Computer: AMD Sempron(tm) 2200+ 1.51 GHz What else information needed, please ask and I'll provide. Sincerely, Rosey Later reply 1: Honestly, I was satisfied with my graphics card while it worked. Maybe it wasn't fast and the graphics weren't of a very high quality, but I could at least experience the minimal performance. I mean, between playing and not playing, there's a difference. However, I am not able to buy a new one, not any sooner :( About the service pack - I have the ''Service Pack 2'' installed. I also uninstalled SpeedUpMyPC as soon as I thought I won't need it anymore. I tried the restore points (windows' itself and also the Speed's - none of them brought me to a good point, the bad changes weren't removed). Oh and, not even running the 1.23 version won't work - I receive the same error. Later reply 2: Alright, I tried installing Driver Sweeper. I ran the scan and then I wanted to fix the errors. All of them worked instead of one coming from Nvidia, about the display (it was a directory). If I try cleaning that one, too, the program would freeze and will refuse to respond. And about the version of drivers, it says, again, that it is not compatible with my hardware (the one Peggy suggested).
