  1. Precisely - that was my point. Tonic and *some versions* of Belleza have a more realistic breast profile, a.k.a. "teardrop" shape that comes with gravity. Though lots of guys (yea, I am saying what I mean and meaning what I say LOL) tend to turn the "buoyancy" slider all the way up ("helium), and make them laughably large (in proportion to the chest and shoulder size and so on). I think Tonic and Belleza have the most realistic breast profiles (among other parts). Obviously, this is only my opinion on the matter, everyone else's mileage will vary. But I digress.
  2. I think we are referring to how gravity affects the shape of some things. Helium-filled torpedo boobs infesting SL notwithstanding. ~Snorts~
  3. Not cross-eyed, but rather it appears the left eye isn't positioned the same as the right eye - it's closer to the nose bridge than the right. In either case: what it is that and the eyeballs are closer together than the eyelids - which is actually natural. Irises are not at "dead-center" of the eye, they are slightly closer to the nose. Whether Catwa has it right or not is moot, but ALL Catwa rigged eyes are like this (I have more than one Catwa bento head). However, because they're rigged you cannot reposition them. The best 3rd party eyes I've seen are these: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Customeyes-Unlimited-Customization-Mesh-Eyes/3530274 Also - I don't think it's so off that it's even really noticeable unless your *looking* for it.
  4. TL;DR: Nods, nods, yes, yes. Ditto what she said ~points up to the OP~ I have been complaining about "sloppy creator work causing computer lag" for 10 years and in those complaints, I've always ever directed my wrath at oversized textures. Most creators don't have a clue. Body Skin? Sure - go for that 4K, but everything else? should be optimized for 1200 Baud Modem download. Seriously. When I used to have in-world merchant shop in a mall my stuff always rezzed 4x faster than everyone else's because I'd upload a 512x512 image, split into four images (each corner a different product). Then adjust the vendor box to display only 1/4 of the picture (the appropriate product). And people always wondered how I made my vendors rez so fast (rez one 512 texture and four vendors were visible). People think high-rez textures are what is needed, where in truth 1/4 the size of what most people are using will suffice just fine. All that's needed is a quick "Sharpen" filter pass before exporting and do TGA, rather than PNG, and PNG rather than JPG. But I digress. LOL
  5. In Firestorm Preferences: NETWORK & FILES tab on the left. Under Web Browser are three radio buttons: Use my browser (Chrome, Firefox, IE) for all links Use built-in browser for Second Life links only Use built-in browser for all links By your description, your one account has the first one turned on. If it's not this then perhaps see if the same thing happens in the Official LL viewer.
  6. Yes. Yes I am. Every reply you've made to my posts what I expected from you. I know better than to take anything SL 9including you) seriously. So go ahead and be yourself, at least you've been consistent all these years. Oh, and I'm still vindicated. OH, and I forgot to ask about my first post and your response: did you LIKE my post before or after your vitriol? Just curious. Bahahaha!
  7. Unless you know how to download the source code from GitHub and compile it, you still need to purchase it from MP (it's fully compiled and ready to go just as it always has been". AVsitter is very good. The only other option that comes close to AVsitter is Multi-Pose System, though it uses "sit targets" (where you sit on a specific seat, for example). AV sitter keeps all the animations, scripts and kit-and-caboodle in the root prim, so anyone can sit anywhere and the order in which people sit will place them on the next "sitter" position. I am familiar and use both. AVsitter is more flexible in many respects, though MPS is more flexible in opposite respects. Since both are not inexpensive I would recommend going with AVsitter system as it allows you to start small and get more ambitious as you learn the system. There are a few basic tutorials on video, not much and very simple, but enough to get you kick-started with concepts and understanding the basics. It's a very good investment whether you are a creator or not.
  8. Thank you for the edification. Though I've been in SL just a little longer than most, I am very familiar with how things in SL work, including under-the-hood. Since the point I am actually trying to make is becoming lost in the discussion, I'll digress and just point up to what I've said before and stand by my previous statement: I'll take a prim creation over a mesh creation if the quality warrants it because a prim version of the same thing, for me (and most) will rez faster. Perhaps nano-seconds, the point is still the point. Prims have fixed LOD, mesh has too many variables, creating a very different experience across multiple users. No sense, however, going into technical details because that is beyond the scope of the discussion. I am not a spring chicken and have been doing 3D modeling since the 1980's back on the Amiga. So I know just a little bit about how it works and what the dirty little details are all about. Kind regards to you and yours, I do genuinely wish you a happy day!
  9. It is true - and not; it comes down to creator skill, always a hit-or-miss and this is my point. Well-built mesh will rez and resources your system the same as well-built prim or well-built sculpty - the operative words here being WELL-BUILT. LOL
  10. Which body are you looking at, because you are describing only one and there are dozens? Have a look-see at these better ones: Female: Maitreya - popular because it's cheap, least best-looking of the three I ist here. Belleza - Considerably better looking than Maitreya, but getting harder to find outfits. Tonic - As good-looking as Belleza, but for superior to all other tech-wise (like SmartShoes and AutoAlpha, etc.) Male: Belleza - "Jake" is new and very popular - best-looking in my opinion - lost of outfits for it. Giani - Trendy, lots of outfits, though the nipples on the chest seem way off and weird to me. Otherwise very good looking. Adam - Very decent look here, also lots of outfits, etc. Stay as far away from Aesthetic as you can get - it's an okay body, but also 25% of men think it's all that. Eew. Kid shapes If you're referring to Toddleedoo and other creepy kid-sized avatars: I agree wholeheartedly.
  11. Prok, you've been using Typepad since before 2006 and you're still the only person I've ever known to use it. Maybe it's time to update to something more modern? No, I am NOT trying to troll you or anything, I'm serious. I was just reading a thread about how the old HippoVend system stopped working in 2016 - and people are still posting (even as of this morning) about "Wait, what?" So, you aren't clear about your workflow: are you just doing this stuff through email or are you using one of the HUDs that were available way back when to post from in-world to your blog (like the old ones that posted to other blog platforms, or Flickr, etc). I'm just thinking if you're using something like that then chances are there are enough changes in the LL systems that handle these back-end communications that the HUD has become broken - in which case see if there's an update to that gadget. If you're doing straight email then the same thing may apply, though I'm not sure how one would go about troubleshooting or otherwise fixing it. May it be time to search Market Place for a new gadget and change your workflow? OH, and if you're using the LL Viewer and its built-in thing (Postcards? - it's been years since I've even looked at that) - then maybe a ticket is in order?
  12. I have a friend who specializes in just this sort of thing, I'll PM you with his name.
  13. Prims are still good as long as it is an experienced creator who knows what they're doing. I'll buy a 5-prim chair over a 1-LI mesh chair if they both look good and are well-built because the prim chair will rez faster and is always visible from three sims away and a lot less workload on my computer because prims are "built into" the viewer, a mesh is not. It comes down to the quality of the product itself: does it look good? Is it as low LI as possible? Does it rez quickly? Textures optimized for download? And as has been mentioned before: Learn to build stuff with primitive shapes because even in 3D apps like Blender: primitive shapes are often a great starting point then 'molded' into the final mesh you want anyway.
  14. I may be mistaken, though I understand Firestorm is not Mac-native, it's a port over from Windows version. I believe the LL Viewer is Mac-native, so you may have better luck with that one. At least when in a "productive" setting and you're doing actual work in or for SL, rather than just sim-hopping, etc. I keep both on hand (FS and LL) and the truth is that the LL viewer is way more stable than the FS. I use Mesh Outfitter to manage my outfits and it requires RLV. The truth is if I ever shake off that tool I may just go back to the LL viewer as my main because it seems to me the FS viewer has been becoming more and more unstable over the last few updates. (And this is true in my personal experience on MS Windows version, also).
  15. Necro'd thread resurrected, but perhaps one worth resurrecting as a lot of what is discussed still apply. The O.P. Makes several good points, though they are all subjective ones, mostly based on the look of something. I agree Tonic is the best on market right now and I'll express why I believe that albeit in more factual aspects: It's among the newest, so the "tech' is also among the newest - all Bento baked right in. Auto-Alpha baked in and available to anyone, super easy to use: now I can auto-alpha no-modify stuff. SmartFeet - something I still haven't seen on any other body, like Auto-Alpha - changes to correct feet based on the shoe (flat, mid, high) Amazingly low RC - lower than Maitreya and Eve and all the Belleza, except for Venus Light. Full physics support: Boobs, Butt, Belly. All the others (that I am aware of) are boobs only, and Belleza is boobs and butt only. Mesh Creator kit right there in the store at amazingly low cost. Just buy it from the vendor and start rigging stuff. Large selection of great-fitting outfits. It's been a while since this thread was started. Searching MP for "Tonic" now brings up a massive selection. I started out with Eve way back when, then tried the Maitreya (I'm not a fan of that one, personally) and went with Belleza. Wore the Belleza for years. And I still love that one to no end. However, in all that time: one update, ONE. Besides, I was in the mood for a makeover and thought what the heck. Shopped around, demoed all the newest bodies and versions. Tonic is definitely a winner - both in the flexibility of looks and also on the technical side. So with all that said: this is why I concur with the OP.
  16. Current iMacs run SL just as well as Windows. The Mini does NOT. The mini is targeted at low-budget price-shoppers (the same way most MS windows systems are) and so it's designed for things like word-processing. You've pretty much just described most current models of Mac and PowerBooks along with PCs and Windows Laptops. And any comparable windows system costs nearly the same as a comperable Apple system (build-quality wise). Here's the thing for anyone considering a new system with the ability to run SL well: Do not be a price-shopper. Your SL experience quality will have a tendency to directly match the price you pay for your system.
  17. Oh, yes - I think you are correct! I started on TG - and it was G and very few regions were PG.
  18. When SL started out there were still a lot of people who did not appreciate internetz prom in plain view all over that place. It had nothing to do with "kids" on the grid, they even had their grid called the Teen Grid, and yet they were supposed to be at least 13. Yes, yes, any of those could quickly sneak over to the main grid, but this isn't the point. The original zones were G, PG, and Mature. The idea was that G zones were supposed to remain completely clean; no nekked bodies in the open, no sex toys in the open, basically Mayberry R.F.D. - for those people who just didn't want to be faced with it. Also, Linden Tried very very hard to make SL business-friendly. This was another reason for the G zones, etc. It's been a long time, so I may be misremembering that the PG zones were okay for the "slu-tee" stuff. All nude even, as long as "pasties" were used. Yes, I know L.O.L. Anyway, long time since then until now, lots of changes, lots of "rule-breaking' and so on. In fact, a lot of what the TOS even stipulates about what can and cannot happen on G versus PG versus Adult zones is not even enforceable and in some cases impossible. In short, "PG" is mostly moot and it comes down to the line between G and Adult zones. And even all that is a moot point because everywhere you look, search, tour, explore internetz pron is all over the place. Even the LL Destination Guide will drop you willy-nilly into nude beaches advertising free SLex. Go figure.
  19. The way I have seen creators make it most convenient for buyers is: They send a folder with everything unpacked. Included in that folder is a "backup box". I find 'wearing a bag' and being animated to be annoying. The HUD unpackers are better, but still. My method is to rez on the ground, open to get the list, create my own preferred folder (and name) then drag from the content list into that folder. Else I have to hunt for the folder (and some creators use really annoying folder names) - then move it around where I want it to be. So my intention with "creator doesn't have a clue" is: they are not taking the buyer's experience into account. Though nothing says they have to. It is this kind of attention to detail, however, that gets a creator onto my short list of "always shop here first". I said make a backup copy - not a box.Create a new folder inside product folder, name it BACKUP, select all items, copy, then paste into the BACKUP folder. So where does "box" come from again? Don't scratch your head too heard. It's not your fault that most people take words for granted and not presuming the speaker actually says what they mean and mean what they say.
  20. To further this thought: For anything costing more than 25L$ If available there, always purchase from Market Place so you have a means to leave review and flag an item if anything goes awry. Never, ever buy anything without a demo or in-world example unless you've purchased from that creator before (In which case, there should be a demo). Clothing: even if it states it is fitted to your body, see rule 2. Too many creators believe "General size X will fit body Z." If it's something you rez: no-modify=no-sale. No matter how purdy it is, it's just not worth it. All rezzable items should be modifiable and copy. If you buy from Market Place and it comes in a box that you have to unpack: Its old stuff or the creator doesn't have a clue. If you receive a folder that doesn't require unboxing: MAKE A BACKUP COPY BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING. Especially with HUDs. Never write a negative review unless you've attempted to contact the creator first, give them 24 hours at LEAST. It's only fair. Remember that Linden Lab does not involve themselves with resident-to-resident issues. So Caveat Emptor.
  21. In these described cases it is the computer (viewer) of the single person describing it who is affected. Everyone else will see you just fine. What is being described, in short, is that the information at builds your avatar hasn't finished downloading for *them*. So *they* see you that way. My personal favorite is: Are you wearing your body?" Checked, yes. So as a favor: detach it and reattach it and they say "OH! There it is". SL is an adventure.
  22. That could be (friend and group) - it used to show any, though that may be only on the LL viewer. It's moot for me because I keep a meanly-pruned friend list and have no interest in stalking others, myself.
  23. It shows in Firestorm also - but only if they are actually online. Here is a screenshot from my Firestorm Calling Cards folder I took just now:
  24. I like them both and believe they are both great viewers. Though as has been stated: it's a feature issue and really nothing more than that. I use firestorm for two features not available in the LL version - the rest I like, but can easily live without. I survive crowded places with the Keyword Alert feature so I know when my name is mentioned in chat. But the dealbreaker is the RLV function (no, I'm not one of those) - I use the Mesh Outfitter to manage my wardrobes and love it. And it requires RLV to make that magic happen. LL viewer does not and likely will never have direct RLV support.
