  1. Any clue about this weird unamed sim below Buttercup Valley on the Southern edge of the Ranch region? Looks like void close up.

Nope, that will not happen. For me it was just a brain fart this morning. There ends my contribution for now. SL and the forums take already too much time of my life as it is. I like the idea of participating in both events, but I will not play a role.

I am always nervous suggesting things as there seems to be a kind of magnetic inevitability that I end up running the thing, and I think @Silent Mistwalker is right about the drama that always follows, so what I am saying is 'good move Sid'.
@BilliJo Aldrin has it right thought really, in that as this is an official forum then it wouldn't really work in any case.

On reflection, one of the reasons I like the forum is because I don't have to organise it, or moderate it, or all the other things that need doing to keep communities in good health. I can just turn up!

I always just turn one inside-out with another one inside of it, but then I'm weird.

Also I know where they all go.

The coathangers come out of the closet in the night and sacrifice the socks, in a misguided attempt to free themselves from their closet rod prison. You can sometimes find the dead socks at the bottom of the closet, or hidden away by the coathangers.

I tried getting them all to see the light one time, but only one of them really got it. His name was Ned. He's free now.

My coathangers are very moody. Some days they just leap for freedom, or get into fights with each other.
I try to treat them like bees, moving calmly and being reassuring.

Never gave it much thought, it popped up spontaneous just now.
    But it could include
    - media on prims with the different sections of the forums.
    - a few live discussion sessions about Secondlife
    - Maybe a DJ event or two
    - presence of forumnites to talk to
    - Give away of a free car...  :D

Maybe some quotes from people who enjoy the forum or who have found it helpful?
Links to topics particularly helpful to newbies?

It is there already, but the layout of the WelcomeHub islands is a bit confusing and desorientating to say the least.
Here is the link to it. Community Exhibition at the Welcome Hub.

Thank you, I tpd in on the other side of the barrier!
Actually the displays that are available look well done to me, and there was a newbie looking around when I was there.
Maybe this is just about getting more groups involved?

most of those ar far past their lifetime, should be closed and end the endless repeating posts.

Maybe what is needed here, could be a facility to ignore certain threads? I know some people have asked for that in relation to the land adverts etc.
I don't mind the social threads,  the pet peeve one in particular can be quite interesting or entertaining.

I noticed this morning that the number of available parcels for Log Homes has dropped by 200. Chalets and Fantasy homes have both dropped by about 300. I doubt we suddenly had such a big influx in users taking these homes, so I think the LDPW must've taken some parcels out of the availability pool. If they only did this to lower the visible number of empty homes, this allow should make these themes seem more desirable. Perhaps they're also updating these themes in some way? 🤔

It's Tuesday, restart day. Maybe some of the regions were down and that affected the count?

Yes here in England the Gulls like to stand around outside their local Greggs waiting for an opportunity with the sliding doors.

After that, presumably to deal with the cholesterol, they get together to perform a Busby Berkley dance spectacular on our roof, just above my bedroom... tap tap shuffle ball change, kick kick..

I tried that first, when it was being discussed here.  It had a much smaller reach, but that could be my own fault for selecting a smaller "federation server" or whatever. Posts propagate slowly / not at all depending on how you join. You know, since you use it!

Yes, like facebook, following groups is more fun than just being served up the central feed. You can see posts from all the different servers if you follow hashtags for topics or whatever.

This, for me, is one of my standards as well. I keep a small parcel with store stuff on it just for demos and a backup.

Any merchant without an in world store is by default less invested at best.

There are lots of outdated store links on marketplace unfortunately, and I always check the link to see if it really does lead to an inworld store.

  11. It makes me think that they maybe have more than one plan on the go, there are so many variables, including the level of continuing demand for ranch homes! It is like a giant game of connect 4, or whatever that game is called in the US!

  12. This is the Amberbrooke model in the Fantasy continent. I surprised myself in how much I have enjoyed being here.
The woodwork detailing in these models really appealed to me, and the shape of the windows. If I stay I would love to find some ceiling roses.
I really appreciate having the 'stucco?' style for the exterior, as it makes a nice change.

This hop came after what felt like a 'perfect' stilt on water home which had a clear ocean view on the edge of sim, and for that lot I couldn't make myself decorate beyond a few pieces, my brain has a will of its own!

Maybe there are hobbit homes on the way and they'll update when those are released?

That would be lovely, but I would rather they had their own landscaping, something greener?

  14. I am currently trying out fantasseria, and have worked out a deal* with my brain to let the landscape make sense, and under those new circumstances the place is actually quite beautiful.
So what I was wondering, is if anybody noticed if the number of available fantasy homes changed after the treehouses were released?
I'm talking later on than the novelty rush stage.
If there was no real long term change then this could affect how the Moles think about, say, adding new home styles to the Log Sub-continent.

    * The deal is that Raspberry is renting a property in Norfolk. She has always wanted to go there and sail a boat on the broads (canals). Once arrived the place is a little different to her expectations, but the Edwardian style home is lovely, the land is as flat as she might expect, and she thinks that maybe that mushroom omelette she ate at a motorway service station on the way down has given her a visual migraine.

I know everyone here is super well-meaning, but not everyone wants to be greeted by chat when they're first experiencing a game. Some do, and they should have access to mentors / greeters / Torley. Personally, though, if I'd had an oldbie descend upon me when I first arrived, no matter how charming and earnest they may be, I'd have logged out and deleted the app instantly.

Newcomers need to feel welcome in their own way of being welcomed, so the environment must first make it as automatic as possible for them to discover and pursue that tailored path.

So, no offense to all the good intentions, but I know as a newbie I wouldn't want to be talked to, and I also know if I talked to newbies now I'd be doing nobody any favors. The newbies need to want it, and the people talking to them need to be supremely skilled at it.

Now, as far as knowing what's really happening in the welcome hub: Maybe mentors could tell us their personal experiences but I'd much rather see some numbers. Of course that should be the Lab's best guarded secret sauce, the key to their future dominance of all competitors, but… yeah. We all have no objective idea what's really happening, and no practical way of discovering it.

I would run for the hills if a greeter approached me while I was already disorientated and overwhelmed with new stuff, i couldn't deal with a social interaction at the same time!

However, I do know that this is just what some people want and need.
