Myself, and a few others can confirm that we are experiencing an average of about 10% packet loss. This is on different regions.

Historically this is the lowest the land prices have ever been in The Wastelands. For only the price of two weeks of tier, you get the land and two weeks of tier! Typically we charge about 6.5k for our smallest parcel, which is now just L$ 1,080!

You're right -- It doesn't affect me. I use Adblock plus, ScriptSafe, and Do Not Track Me chrome extensions. However I was making valid points, and hypothetical cases on why this is a bad idea as a whole. I'm allowed to have an opinion. If no one voices their concerns then the issue won't be acknowledged. It's not whining. LL has done a great job at shutting down all avenues of communication with them, so the only thing left to do is make the issue known and discuss it on forums.
I am already VERY disappointed in the service that SL provides, and I pay through the nose for it. If you had read and digested anything else I've posted in this thread, you'd see that as an invested and paying consumer of SL my concern rests in SLs future. I am typically optimistic to a fault about the future of SL, but this whole thing makes me really uncomfortable.
The ads are adsense ads, go look at the page source code. And yes there have been recorded incidents of malware being shipped with Adsense. Do your homework. All it takes is for one ad to squeeze by your anti-virus. As it is, enough residents have problems with "hacked" accounts and the like.
@Ciaran: There's a difference in advertising with an ad provider, and having your site host the ads. Again, lets not confuse things. I am pretty certain LL already uses adsense to advertise it's products, but prior to last week it wasn't hosting ads on it's site. Advertising has it's place, but if LL doesn't want to alienate new users, and keep paying residents happy, they ought to change their current plan. For the record, I stopped using LJ myself when they started hosting ads.

I would still have the same objections because I pay more than a couple thousand USD to LL per month. If my business isn't enough, then they need to do things that attract and retain people, rather than push them away. In my own opinion, the ads do more harm than good. You don't see WoW, IMVU, or even any other 3rd party grid with ads on their home page. It makes you look amateur. (fixed spelling)
Security: Let's say there's some malicious code there and someone hypothetically gets your account info and gets you banned. Sucks to be the user; doubly so trying to get back into your banned account through LLs current support ticket system. Why would you come back to SL after going through that gauntlet?
Privacy: What if a user is solely using SL to get help and support by belonging to support groups for private or embarrassing matters? Do you think logging in and having a targeted banner ad based on the names of the groups that you belong to is going to do more damage than good if a friend or family member sees said targeted ad at the top of the SL website because they use SL too? The same can be said for the events.
$1M a year? According to Tyche Shepherds grid survey report of Feb 3rd, LL generates at least $4.1M a month in tier alone. And while $1M more annually is nothing to sneeze at, it's a drop of piss in an ocean of dollars. Or 1/53 of their annual income, and way less if you account for their fees, membership dues, and marketplace sinks.
It's been said a million times, but LL should make mainland tier rates more granular, make premium membership more appealing, and everyones favorite -- reduce tier. Again on Gridsurvey, do you see the insane wall of growth come to a complete halt, and then nose-dive? That's when homesteads went up in price. Surely with hardware upgrades, region idling, and the interest list LL has made them way more affordable to operate. Why not bring those prices back?
I would have a lot less issue if the ads were specifically for Second Life related things, and if the website was built to have them in specific places -- not google adsense just slapped at the top and side of sensitive account information pages or the main page. That way it's more about the community.

Are you including your signature in the part about paying users not being subject to these ads :matte-motes-wink:Lets not confuse things. I'm not the service provider here. It's the service provider who is showing already paying users ads. LL has every right to deny forum users signature banners.
My banner is to let people know my place exists. Visiting my estate is free, playing the games I've developed there is free, and I don't shove land down peoples throats when they visit or play the games. And yes I'm aware that "awareness" is also an ad; but I don't offer to buy your gold, or help you lose 35lbs fast.
Normally, I wouldn't mind the ads all that much, but as a paying customer I don't want them. They also look like they were just crammed up there without any forthought, by a 12 year old. </br><insert adcode.js></br> Why are there no ads on the marketplace, or these very forums? Surely they get way more traffic.
I'm more worried if LL is really desperate for money. They've put plenty of work in reducing their bandwidth cost over the past couple of years, and reducing CPU usage as well with region idling. Is that not enough to cut costs?
As a 7+ year user of the service, this does nothing to make me confident in an already questionable LL.

- Paying users should not be subject to these ads.

I'm not having a go at people. I'm telling you to chill out and let them work on and test a fix, to either contribute something worthwhile on the JIRA or keep your complaints confined here, and to get your facts straight. You're part of the reason I stopped monitoring the issue.

People logging off isn't the problem, it's a byproduct of the issue. Odds are 95% of them will be back when it's resolved.
LL doesn't charge VAT, your government charges VAT. Everyone pays taxes differently -- it doesn't mean you pay more for the service in the end. Don't like VAT, complain to your government and don't blame LL.
LL is communicating, visit any office hour that's relevant -- or read Nalates blog for a summary.
Owners of private regions get extra perks for their extra tier.
Yes, such as more control over the region, naming their region, having a covenant, opting out of beta region rolls, etc.
Up until last week I was watching the issue, monitoring and commenting on my observations, contributing my thoughts in hope of leading to a fix. Then there was all sorts of unnessesary drama and nasty comments that did nothing to aid in resolving the issue, posted on the JIRA. While I may be partially responsible for spreading awareness of the issue, I regret all the... hysterics ...it's brought to the JIRA and this forum.

About your pathfinding claims, did you document any tests? Did you contribute your findings to the JIRA? No, from what I read all you did was complain. Which given the circumstances can be expected -- but the JIRA is not a place for it. It's a nasty bug for sure, and raising a stink to no end isn't helping solve the issue.
I on the other hand have several regions, a small landmass in which to test. And I've tested AND posted my findings. I have found out that this bug did come at about the same time as pathfinding did. But with my estate console, turning pathfinding on or off, doesn't make a difference. While the bug may have come with the pathfinding rollout, I am very certain it's not dependant upon pathfinding being enabled. So get your facts straight, before you make all sorts of nasty accusations.
LL also fast-tracked this issue, putting it before a lot of other things that are being worked on. If you don't like that they're working and testing it as fast as they can, log off until it's fixed.
Yes, you're on mainland and you have to sort of deal with it because you can't change the region settings. Mainland is also about 2/3rds the price of estate land if you own a whole region.

I would rather have a good solid fix that works released, rather than a rushed patch that causes more problems because of insufficient testing. I pay 2k+ USD per month to LL, and while this bug is a pain to some of my friends-- there are short term remedies.
Take a nap Maelstrom, or turn your draw distance down.

Oskar, with all due respect this is on the release channels as well -- so this isn't just a Magnum issue.
All of my estate regions are are plain old Second Life Server, unless they're "stealth" test regions.
Please head over to any of the regions I listed as being problematic in the JIRA and see for yourself. And please fix this as soon as possible, I've got a lot of upset residents.

Mainland costs $195. Estate Islands cost $295. There's been nothing but a decline in value of the service over the past five years. I hope LL gives us something as a tradeoff.

LL should only roll this out on the mainland. They should let estate owners do what they want with their regions, they are after-all paying an arm and a leg for the service.

The Wastelands came into existence on January 17th, 2007, and is the oldest, largest, and longest lasting Post-Apocalyptic themed estate in Second Life. It sustains itself through the efforts of our continually growing and evolving community of individuals who have a passion for the damaged and ruined landscape you see before you. In fact, around 95% of everything you see in The Wastelands is created by the residents who live here. If you're reading this, it's likely that you're interested in purchasing some land, or you're interested in hanging out as a game-player, roleplayer, or regular visitor. Maybe all of the above! The Wastelands is a themed residential estate inside Second Life. What this means is that everything that is built here on the land must have a certain post-apocalyptic look and feel to it. Structures that have collapsed due to age, heavily weathered and nature overrun buildings, bombed out bunkers, and scrapped together makeshift homes would fit right in here. If you want to build a pristine beach house on our sands, a modern day military base, or even a skyscraper on our horizon -- perhaps The Wastelands isn't what you're looking for. Many of us feel there's a certain romanticism about a world where everything is ruined or old, and we want our builds to elicit that sense of desolation and desperation.

No problem! Consider setting up a ram disk as a place for your cache. It's a huge improvement if your PCs been on for a long time.

The Wastelands is looking to fill a few empty plots in our newest region (and some of our older regions), the Cape of Ruin. The cape is a post-apocalyptic coastal region complete with craggy cliffs, wrecked ships, and leaning lighthouses.
While the included video might seem super awesome, the shining beacon of our estate is in it's strong community. Stop by and visit us some time.

Essentially llList2Vector and llList2Rotation doesn't work, if it's ever cast as a string in a list (like link message).
This is a very very very old bug, you need to cast it as a vector or rotation from a string.
vector vec = (vector)llList2String(my_list, 0);
rotation rot = (rotation)llList2String(my_list, 0);

You don't need a script to do this. Just set the child prims to convex hull; it's in the features tab of the build menu under physics shape.
As for the multiple meshes linked together with a lower LI than mesh objects combined, that' just due to smart use of mesh building. The meshes themselves probably have low poly counts and low physics shape.
