  1. Oskar, I've gotten reports from just about everyone I know on this issue and have experienced it myself. However I do not think it is the servers being at fault more then it is more a viewer problem and how it interprets data received. In my tests I've traced the problem to a memory release issue where the viewer will continually eat more memory until the person crashes or can't move from lag. On my system I have 5 gigs of memory and when I crash I will have run out. Early symptoms of this are exactly as Lydia reported and have been getting worse of the past few weeks with more frequent crashes.
  2. It appears that some people are misunderstanding what region idling is. Perhaps a Linden could describe the causes of region lag? FPS takes processing power, which in the past was equally shared among all regions. As a region owner I welcome this plan and that it should reduce server lag. If I happen to have 40 to 50 people on my land it takes a heck of a lot more processing power to maintain peak performance. It makes perfect sense to me that land with a lot of people on it should have priority for their enjoyment over land with nobody on it at the time. FPS in a nutshell is what a person sees and from what I gather is the only thing that this effects. So to adapt an old analogy of the tree dropping in the forest.... If the FPS drops on an empty Sim and nobody is around to see it. Does it make a difference?
  3. I think people are missing the big picture here. What I see is LL taking unused resources for FPS so it can be reallocated to regions with people on them to help reduce lag if I'm understanding correctly. Generating a frame on an empty region when nobody will see it takes a lot of processing when that processing could be put to better use.
  4. Hi, Oskar I wanted to let you know I've been getting quite a few reports of note cards on the main server not being able to be opened since Tuesday's restarts. I've been able to duplicate this about 50% of the time myself and Symptoms include either a time out message, or lack of permission message even if the person created the card.
  5. Hi Oskar, I'm reporting that the magnum servers are still crashing after the network maintenance today(4/30). Sim stats appear fine before each crash, however there are a few minor lag hits just prior. After the crash the sim rolls back approximately 15 minutes.It may be wise not to deploy this code for now. Thanks
  6. Hi Oskar I need to report that magnum servers are continuing to crash. Also this last crash (4/27 at 4:20pm slt)sim rolled back about an hour. My two sims have crashed at least 3 times this week. Is there anything I need to watch for to help fix this issue? Update:Kustom Klassics HQ just crashed and rolled back again at 4:29pm slt Thanks
  7. Hi Oskar I've been getting multiple reports of teleport failures as well. I did some testing and discovered the following symptoms I was able to duplicate on Monday. Land marks worked fine in all regards double tap teleport from one sm to another failed only when one sim was for example on the main and another was magnum. On Monday double click tp's failed on my two connected sims every time(one magnum one the main server). On Tuesday I requested both sims be on the magnum server and that solved all issues with double click teleports. IM tp sent to a person failed for the same reason of being on different servers on Monday. I have not tested this today(wed) Conclusions could be drawn that there is something going on between servers that can be fixed or it was a minor glitch that the rolling restarts cured on Tuesday
  8. I've only used firestorm myself, but friends that use other viewers including the official have have told me they had the same problem. The start of this was around the the deploy of the new viewers with FUI incorporated.
  9. Hi Oskar, Yes I run into the identical issue on the main. Also I noticed that I can play sounds locally they play right off. If I then after play locally play the sound in world then it will play right away. This sounds like a preloader or pointer issue in the inventory?
  10. Hi, Since the rolling restarts regular sounds require being played twice to hear as if they were not preloaded. Looped sounds require 10 to 20 seconds to start playing. Gestures require the same amount of time to start playing including text. The problem coincides with the release of the new viewers though I noticed this issue before I upgraded my viewer. My question is this a server issue or a viewer issue?
  11. Sometimes your inventory sticks while loading the next time the best thing to do is clear your cache and relog
  12. Hi Oskar, A suggestion/Idea if I may, for future deployments of RC code. Include in the release notes a section that lists possible areas that may be impacted by the upgrade in order for us as RC testers to give a more structured response. As a guess I assume that the server code is segmented in to separate areas that for example one may control TP's and another movement etc. Many times bugs may overlap or be from a totally different source such as a viewer update. This will also help in structuring when a JIRA should or should not be filed. Many times an issue may not be so major to file a JIRA however if we spot something like that it will help immensely for the next weeks release. Optimize the use of we RC testers to make SL the best it ever was
  13. As I said earlier this week a sense of team work needs to be created. Both sides need to fix the mess. LL feels that everything is top secret and we all just complain. Both sides are justified and both sides are at fault.

  16. Wow I was about to write how stable my magnum was. No sarcasm it was running great
  17. I ran several viewers tonight and both Firestorm and the official viewer both loaded almost instantly. However there is a serious problem with V1 viewers where part or all of the inventory fails to load. The cure is to use the newer viewers that are designed for the new format that the system runs
  18. Hi Oskar Just found an interesting clue to the sim crossing issue I've been having. Yesterday morning several of us were all experiencing the problem of being knocked of world and when returning our cams were rotated 90 degrees and we were outside the car we were driving. Normally on Monday and Tuesday there always is a little extra lag...nothing serious... as LL prepares it's upgrades which was no different yesterday. And as normal around 6pm slt it went away but after that yesterday though one still gets knocked around a bit crossing the camera and sit pos problem stopped as well. I'm wondering what ever was being done is related to all sim crossing issues as in LL touched the tender spot where the problem lies? Just food for thought

I know it's no easy task fixing anything especially while it's running and I want to provide information when something goes wrong before it gets passed along to the main.We all know it's when nobody reports an issue on a RC that cause all sorts of grief when it gets promoted to the main and bombs out. I propose we all get more organized as a team or group of both lindens and RC sim owners in order to better communications More then just on Aditi. I'd much rather stay on magnum for the most part I can find issues prior to my products being effected on the main but thanks anyway. Is there a list of sims that are on the magnum RC (or all RC regions)so I can see if my issue are my sims specific? It'd help me provide better information next time
  20. First of all my intent was not to offend or pick a fight with you but to request more information after more then one attempt. I volunteered to help test magnum servers and report my findings here.I also run a business and I'm sure you'll agree that an upset customer is not a good thing and very frustrating when you can't fix the problem. Sure they responded in dec requesting more info which I gave and I requested if that wasn't enough to please let me know what type and kind of information they needed and after that there was no acknowledgment or response until today. I don't have access or knowledge of the type of info needed to repair programming I've never seen. And using the freebie go cart to test when the issue is with a high quality type of cars being sold by several builders isn't the way to go. I offered a car to demonstrate what the issue is.It does effect high prim no attach cars more than others If you want to duplicate my problem give me permission to send a car and try it. If it's my design or scripting fine or if it's sim related fine but I need a direction so everything isn't on hold. And I know others ,including builders, have had this problem on several different sims and they, for some reason , come to me instead of LL Finally as to regions experiencing this issue there has been several JIRA's filed in the last three months on this issue. I will take the time to do further testing with other builders on another sims and file a new JIRA
  21. Hi, I'm wondering on the status of SVC-7508 . This relates to not being able to cross sim borders with cars on Magnum. It's been another month after more information was requested that I supplied. Is more information needed, if so what specific information is needed? I need to be able to inform my friends and customers of any progress being made and if you note 85 people voted on this issue. Being that my sims are racing/driving sims it is imperative that we can drive between them. It's been three months since filling the JIRA and sorry to say the lack of any response at all even an acknowledgment that it was even read sure makes one feel ignored and not a valued customer
  22. Hi, thanks for the link I was looking for more in depth information. The reason I ask is if it was to fix avatar crossings it works great but if it included vehicles it's an epic fail at least between the two connected magnum sims we have here. Trying to cross in a car results in going off world for a few seconds before rubber banding back to where you started leaving your camera askew
  23. Hi Is there more info on the Threaded Region Crossing Stage 1 Project? Things like what was stage 1 supposed to accomplish along with the overall project goals would aide me in supplying usable feedback thanks
  24. Jack please understand Dales frustration. I know he had worked weeks building a race track with thousands of lines of code only to have it shut down after working fine for a week by a script bug introduced to the main server. Also understand that LL has a sever deficiency of the way it handles customer service. Whether you file a ticket or the laughable Live Support it will leave you even more frustrated when you are either ignored or treated like an idiot. I've ran a real life business for 20 years and a SL business for 3 and one thing I know as a fact is if you want customers, you treat them as intelligent people who mostly just want the company to know there is an issue and it's being addressed
