  1. Thank you 16 will give that a look later on Black ETA: Yay, IE is back with no ADs being displayed
  2. Yes, I like it, it's a step in the right direction. I prefer having all the chat stuff in one place and not spread about with seperate IM windows, local chat etc., but that is my opinion Thanks Black
  3. Hello Shy, I actually stopped using my browser of choice (IE) to use Firefox and AdBlock... The really funny thing is that I'd recently updated my store banner and can no longer see it - LOL! Following the advice of others though I am much happier not seeing ads taking up MY screen space. BTW: McAfee (is currently happy) with the ads being served, if that changes then I am sure we will read about it here Thanks Black
  4. Torley the great has made videos on everything - Torley rocks Having looked briefly at the CHUI this morning it does seem to work like Firestorm (I love tabbed chats) - the thing I find a little odd is the IM names at top of the panel - my name in the mix - local chat below that - the persons name in IM below that ... that's confusing. My other observation is where I used plonk the chat on the left hand side of my screen - it's too big even with all of the minimize options. I am not as old as some of you guys here, but I know what I like and I think this is a positive step in the right direction. Thanks Black
  5. Hi Ayesha I will login tonight with the Linden viewer during the RC restarts and see if that is the same - I don't usually look at sim stats but a friend was having problems rezzing... Yesterday's session logs have been overwritten since logging in this morning so creating a JIRA will not be of any use as there are no logs to look at. My ping times have returned to 'normal' as you've already observed. Thanks Black
  6. This might just be network but since the rolling restarts I am seeing really odd ping times. My usual is around 180msec, but it seems to sporadically go into the 1000's (greater than 5k, then down to around 3K before coming down to the normal - it almost appears to step in the stats floater. I am on Le Tigre which hasn't been updated as yet - but this is really odd behavior. Thanks Black
  7. Just thinking our loud here and have no idea if even implentable... We all connect to inventory server(s). If the inventory server "noticed" an account or object owner was rezzing a single prim on multiple parcels / multiple sims in a fairly short space of time then the watching process could flag that agent. I say multiple parcels/sims as I use holovendors on a single parcel. If that agent was also getting a number of AR's then someone could go and investigate or simply remove the objects (which I believe happened in this case). Of course, the flagged agent could be legitimately placing new vendors down (moving from one location to another) but it might make the whole process a little smoother and easier to track? As I said at the outset, just thinking our loud. Black
  8. Here's an old video by Torley that might help. I just right click on the object and select edit - > click on the owner link and mute the object via there profile. HTH Black
  9. Hello Marina I have to agree with Ashone simply mute the owner - yep, the spammy thing has turned up in Riback and surrounding area... I'm sure the lab will get round to sorting it out Black ETA: Looks like the cleanup has started... just watched 4 or 5 things disappear from my screen! Nice one LL )
  10. Break some viewers, IE9 seems to display them fine ( L ) ? Yes, I know there are other browsers! McAfee says the servers supplying the ads are safe (it stops ads from ‘unsafe’ servers) but really, is this the way for my favourite platform to go? As has been said before the ads just look ‘tacky’ but then the mighty Google is behind them so I guess it must be good. The funniest thing though is that the ads at the moment are attempting to drag me away into facebook type games (farms and whatnot – yes, seen the relationship ads to!). So really (IMHO) the question should be is LL really happy for content creators to keep ‘working’ in SL or would they prefer we spread our wings and leave SL in peace and develop / play (spend our hard earned [enter your currency here] cash) on other platforms? I won’t be quitting SL anytime soon but you have to wonder… Black
  11. And back again after this weeks rolls - so nice to see everything light blue again
  12. Since the restarts the sim in the SE corner disappears again This happens also when looking in from the other sim! My Parcel is located at: You are at 292,604.0, 278,276.0, 95.4 in Riback located at sim7658.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.36.225:13000) Second Life RC LeTigre 13.02.15.270481 The affected connected sim: You are at 292,626.0, 278,243.0, 103.6 in Mists Edge located at sim7685.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.36.252:12035) Second Life Server 13.02.08.270166 Thanks Black
  13. I have no idea if this is related to the DNS issues yesterday or perhaps a code fix but updates pertaining to prim movement / touch dialogs / teleporting / loading the inventory of inworld items are really slow today. This may or may not be related to the server updates but I don't know that. Cache has been cleared and inventory reloaded etc. You are at 292,583.0, 278,297.0, 3,336.2 in Riback located at sim7658.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.36.225:13002) Second Life RC LeTigre 13.02.07.270127 Error fetching server release notes URL. Thanks Black
  14. Whirly Is there an in-world means of testing (script or whatnot)? I have just whizzed around a couple of Magnum sims changing my bandwidth from my normal 500 to 1000kbps and experienced no issue. I saw the Bandwidth meter briefly zoom up when looking around stores with a shed load of vendors and textures as Andrew said 'should' happen. Cleared cache and relogged back into the region. Progressive draw distance is not used. Sim I was in was: You are at 293,268.0, 278,350.0, 65.5 in Ardingly located at sim7597.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.36.205:12035) Second Life RC Magnum 13.01.17.269162 I'm in Europe and aside from the issue I mentioned near the beginning of this thread I don't think I'm affected but would like to help Black
  15. Tbanks Whirly Ok, I see that it is being worked on - perhaps the server restarts will work this one out as normally it's there so will wait and see. Thanks Black
  16. Here's a weird observation - for the past couple of days when looking at the mini map the sim in the adjacent (SE) corner isn't there on the mini map and also when looking into the sim on the ground level 95m's. Looking at the world map the sim IS there. I can fly into the sim though but as soon as I leave it disappears even when looking in from the SE edge of our parcel? Sim I was looking at: You are at 292,663.0, 278,215.0, 107.5 in Mists Edge located at sim9377.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.43.80:13000) Second Life Server 12.12.18.268345 Error fetching server release notes URL. Home Parcel in SE corner of Le Tigre sim You are at 292,602.0, 278,278.0, 95.4 in Riback located at sim7658.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.36.225:13002) Second Life RC LeTigre 13.01.14.269010 Error fetching server release notes URL. Thanks Black ETA: Since the restarts this week (28/01/2013) the sim that was previously 'not' there is back and the mini-map is no longer red!
  17. Not sure if this is relevant or things are just up in the air at the moment but I am seeing packet loss on Le Tigre - I am on a wired connection and normally never see packet loss stats! I know that Le Tigre is not due for a roll till Wednesday. You are at 292,575.0, 278,304.0, 3,336.2 in Riback located at sim7658.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.36.225:13002) Second Life RC LeTigre 12.12.18.268345 Error fetching server release notes URL. Thanks Black
  18. I think the code snippet supplied about Rot2Up is great and works whichever way I rotate the prim within the linkset - there is another optimisation listed on the webpage for llRot2Up so am posting my complete snippet here - this way I can find it in the future! touch_end(integer total_number) { if (llDetectedTouchFace(0) == face_number) { vector my_position = llGetPos(); rotation my_rotation = llGetRot(); vector av_position = llDetectedPos(0); string av_name = llGetDisplayName(llDetectedKey(0)); //Check if the Agent is infront of the prim float vectorProduct = (<0.0,0.0,1.0> * my_rotation) * (av_position - my_position); if ( vectorProduct > 0.0 ) { //Check to see if the agent is close enough to operate our lever if (llVecDist(my_position, av_position) > 2.5) { //FALSE llWhisper(0, av_name + " Message: To far away"); } else { //TRUE llOwnerSay("Message: None: Send Link Messages"); } } else { //AV is not infront of the prim - let them know llWhisper(0, av_name + " Message: Can't open"); } } } Note: In this snippet I also check to see how far away the toucher is - might not be so elegant but it works Thank you to all who replied. Black
  19. Perfect, thank you Dora - I did have a flash of perhaps llCastRay or llSensor but this solution is much clearer and leads me off now to read about prim normals & llRot2Up Black
  20. Hi Scenario Agent behind door, cams around the wall and touches the lever and opens the door from the inside. What I would like to achieve is to stop this from happening, in otherwords the agent must be stood infront of the door switch. I will have no control over the final rotation of the building so I need to take this into account also (and I suck big time at rotations!). This is what I have at the moment but the float result is always given as postive number so not much help there. touch_end(integer total_number) { if (llDetectedTouchFace(0) == face_number) { llOwnerSay("Correct face touched..."); //Now to check if the Agent is infront of the prim vector my_position = llGetPos(); vector av_position = llDetectedPos(0); float test = llVecDist(av_position, my_position); llOwnerSay((string)test); } } I also tried breaking down x,y portions of the vectors but as soon as I rotate my linkset then the results are skewed again. If anyone can offer some ideas that would be great Black
  21. As previous posters have already indicated Le Tigre is also affected with llInstantMessage(llGetOwner(), "message"); I would like to bump this thread and also request (along with others) an update on the situation. I have scripted objects that let me know when the region has been restarted, status pages updates etc. and now I find myself in the dark! Thank you Black
  22. Thank you for highlighting this Pamela - I thought it was just a glitch (as did the customer). I have submitted a ticket as per CTL request. Black
  23. No, I used an alt to test purchase the item after the customer contacted me. The alt received the item without any issue!? ETA This happened on the 18th September 2012. The issue was highlighted because the customer purchased 2 of the same 'copy' products. I do wish there were a redelivery button for customers!
  24. Yes, a customer reported an empty folder. Checked with an alt and all appaared to be ok. Re-sent the item inworld. If it makes any difference the item iin question was boxed. Black
  25. *smiles* All the time ... that is why half the time I leave it to the serious Forum readers/responders to try and figure out what the OP is actually asking! Now, you - you little martian you, you have an adult metalic sort of voice in my mind (thinking back to a long eared carrot munching super bunny) that always makes me grin ... yeah sure - then I go back and re-read with sensible head, but, it's true - there are certain posters here (that I hold in the highest esteem) who I've given voices to... no names of course - they are my voices for those posters
