Just because the Lindens do not respond to a bug does not mean it is NOT being worked on wow...a triple negative to make it read correct... Thanks for the correction - and both versions could be correct :-)
  2. Just because the Lindens do not respond to a bug does not mean it is being worked on (not very useful for us I know). Often bug fixes come through in new tranches of code which address the fundamentals behind a number of issues. I don't know if this applies to the sim visibility problem but I do know it has been raised for quite a while with a few Lindens so I would be surprised if it was being completely ignored.
  3. LL's move to place profile related info onto the web was only half-finished as you may have giuessed. Putting profile info on the web gives a lot of opportunities for additional linking and features but this has not really been pursued. Possibly they got cold feet after realising that some stuff like Landmarks and Group info would nevre be fully webified - or more likely they did the easy stuff and hoped the 'Feed' would take off (which it hasn't for most people). Either way we are left with an incomplete and messy system which they seem unwilling to develop further - but it is worth raising your request for more picks in the secondlife Jira as occassionally features like that do get picked up.
  4. It's always best to keep comments on the JIRA factual i.e. I have pointed out a bug when entering lots of characters in single line chat (it's a good one), and on here I can say that I am not surprised as the way they have implemented single line chat using the xml is a bit messy. :-)
  5. Single line chat (and, oddly, single line IM) seems likely to be coming to the CHUI Beta soon (it's just hit the dev compile). There are also a few other things tidying up some stuff in the GUI. Many of these are good, but I do feel some opportunities to reduce the overall size for smaller screens have been missed. I hope you will give it a try and let the CHUI team know what you like and what you don't.

CrazyLaraCroft wrote: sup torly linden I am currently testing Second Life viewer 3.5.0(Linden Lab) and here are some things that I think would be suggest and or fix and or even removed If you have any specific suggestions (like that windlight one) you can make them using the Second Life JIRA Also I suggest you check through what you write, or get someone to check for you to ensure the English is concise and understandable. The Lindens are busy people like the rest of us, and prefer to work with direct (but non-inflamatory) statements.
  7. It is hardly fair to ask Maestro this as it is outside his remit and Lindens are not allowed to comment on broader policy except with vague non-commital statements. I believe that the timing of a release on Steam is more related to other events that are happenning at both Linden Lab and Valve - and as a result I am expecting to hear more about it during the northern Summer.
  8. While it is nice to see so many of you adding to CHUIBUG-60 (which I raised way back in December) it would be best if you raise new ideas/issues/bugs as seperate JIRA entries in the CHUIBUG project. This makes it a lot easier for the CHUI team to address them.
  9. Thanks Teagan - at least that is a relief for me.:cathappy: I don't think you were the only one either as LL have been in touch saying they are getting more crashes with the StarLight skins that I am so far unable to reproduce. Looking at other comments here and elsewhere there seems to be quite a mix between love and loathing for the CHUI. I can see what LL are trying to do with it and in many ways they have succeeded. There are some design decisions that I wouldn't have taken, but generally I don't object to most of what they've done (though BUG-1820 does seem an odd and confusing 'expected behaviour'). The CHUI team are very open to suggestions for improvements, though I doubt that 'scrap it' will be well received :catwink:. Viewer 2 was a mess when it was released but through gradual work by LL and a lot of help from their customers it has been improved significantly. I am hoping that with just a few tweaks it will become acceptable to most users. And I'm sure the TPV makers will be quick to provide alternatives as always.

Probably would be nice if you could reduce the width of that too. You have to hover your mouse pointer between the name/group and conversation frames. Then you get an 'arrow thingy' that you can slide to resize it.
  11. Teagan Tobias wrote: That could be, it would be nice to know all the preferences that effect chat. I removed the chat button and took it out of the toolbox again and that did not help. I did install the Starlight Skin, maybe I will uninstall it all and install just the viewer and see if that makes a difference. But thank you, at least I know it works for someone, and I should be able to get it to work for me too. Teagan - it could be that you are not using the correct version of Starlight for Viewer 3.5.0 - you should have StarLight 3.5.0966, which doesn't appear to have that problem. You can download it here. If you are still having a problem after that please drop me an IM or raise a bug here. Thanks. :cathappy:
  12. I believe they are looking at Q2 2013 now - which is about the same time as the launch of Valve's gaming box, not sure if it may be related.
  13. I've had this but only when using Firestorm - not sure why though.
  14. As you probaly found the Statistics Bar is described at http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-improve-Viewer-performance/ta-p/1316923. I notice that there was a specific incidence of this behaviour in the past addressed by https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7009?. It may be worth raising a new bug in the JIRA regarding it.
  15. Maybe LL ought to pull or amend the blog post unless they want to look more foolish...ah yes, of course.

If your native language is not English I suggest you enter it in your native language instead so that we may translate it.
  17. ...and which viewer is he trying to use?
  18. I suggest you try the official viewer to see if the problems persist. You don't have to uninstall Firestorm to do this and it takes only a couple of minutes to install the official viewer. Also 'detach all' and then try teleporting to see if that helps.
  19. Echo Hermit wrote: If you're keeping the interface that lovely shade of blue, I will be happy too. V2/V3 was gloomy and like looking at a dark hallway through a letterbox. Sorry to disappoint you but the blue bar is how LL indicate it is a project viewer rather than a mainstream one.
  20. @namssab1nad - the developers of the CHUI really want your feedback as they try to improve exactly those things. So why not download the CHUI, and then send your suggestions as they suggest?
  21. With Viewer 3.4.3 LL have made three changes to graphics settings: They have reappraised what graphics settings they believe your graphics card is capable of running - and changed the default with the new install. They have altered some of what each of the existing 4 preset graphics settings is set to provide. They have added in 3 more preset graphics settings 'LowMid', 'MidHigh' and 'HighUltra' as intermediate steps. I believe these changes are to make better use of your gpu's capabilities with the improved rendering system without requiring you to use the 'Advanced' graphics settings. Unfortunately, as always, it is impossible to determine the full capabilities of your system just by the gpu and as a result it would be advisable to go into the graphics settings and play with the quality slider until you find something that works for you.
  22. If you were on Viewer 3.3.2 you would have received a mandatory update. Viewer 3.3.2 was several months old and was only continuing so long because of problems LL had with Viewer 3.4.
  23. You will also have "LowMedium", "MediumHigh" and "HighUltra" soon - they are now in the latest version of the LL Beta Viewer. There is no technical reason why it couldn't be done with a click of a button - just that LL and TPV makers have chosen not to do it that way.
  24. Qie Niangao wrote: The release notes offer no details -- they're no longer allowed to even reference the castrated jira, so there's no guessing what the unspecified crash fixes are supposed to address. The server notes do very occasionally reference a JIRA number but not enough. From Beta Viewer 3.4.3 they seem to have started adding the JIRA numbers back in to the Viewer release notes - but only the 'MAINT' numbers rather than the original 'BUG' s etc. initially reporting. LL still have a long way to go to make it worthwhile again, but at least it is progress.
  25. Your ATI Radeon HD 3400 simply is too slow for Second Life. You could get a decentish graphics card to plug in for not too many dollars - but make sure you can run it on your motherboard. If you want to see what is decent look at the gpu_table.txt in the official viewer directory and get one listed as at least a class 3 (your current one is class 1).
