  1. The tentacolor exporter only work with Blender 2.49. Not the newer 2.6 version. Which version are you on? - Luc -
  2. I know your Mac is capable of running SL. All the new MBPs are. We should not need to know the specs in this case as it does not seem to be a graphics issue anyway. Couple of questions. Are you saying that the loading process starts but you get the 'despite our best effort...' regardless of whether you type the username and password in or not? Did it ever let you log in? And suddenly stop with this message? When you reinstalled, did you remove the Second Life folder from ~/Library/Application support/? Select edit in the options menu in the top right corner of your question to add information. Then also press permalink below one of the replies and add a comment to say you added information. This will cause a notification to be sent out to anywone who answered. - Luc -
  3. I agree with you - a little bit - that it is a chance it may not be an inventory item causing the problem. I'm not quite ready go let it go... I wonder - and I don't know Cool VL - if ther are an item among some item types it can not load, and thus skips loading. I don't know if the viewers work like that... Otherwise - yeah - a graphics issue. Could be... - Luc -
  4. Sorry to hear the problem is still there, Ayrin. Here's the link to the ticket form: https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ I hope you get the issue sorted out soon! - Luc -
  5. The Sim fps and physics fps is server side and shouldn't affect the viewer fps. There are *some* explanation of this - http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Viewerhelp:Statistics - but not much. I think low sim fps would more rubber banding and snapping back to a different position type of lag, although I'm not sure of it. - Luc -
  6. From what I understand, the 6xx series might not always be the best or fastest solution. I thought it should be pretty good for SL, but I have no idea. For more details and some technical details, have a look in this thread, starting at around post #11: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Mesh/Normal-Maps-Specularity-Maps-amp-Diffuse-coming-soon/td-p/1638165/page/2 - Luc -
  7. Good morning, Hippie and everybody!!! Happy Friday! And for no reason at all - here are three of my favourite songs at the moment: - Luc -
  8. Yeah, I completely forgot the cache folder, which is in ~/Library/caches/ on the mac. Regardless - your reply is much more detailed and comprehensive. Kudos! - Luc -
  9. oh, right! Sorry about that - I read your post a bit qickly... One thing to try - I didn't see you say you tried it - is to open ~/library/Application support/ and move the folder with the viewer name to the desktop (or delete it). The folder contains settings and avatar specific files like chat/im logs which you may want to hold on to. When you start the viewer again, it will be like a new, clean install, so all settings in the viewer will have to be set again. There is also one or more files in ~/Library/Preferences/, perhaps for each viewer which you also can delete before logging in again. - Luc -
  10. I've seen a few reports of crashes and other issues with the latest Firestorm viewer on Macs. Try to go back to the previous version or try another viewer and see if you still have porblems. - Luc -
  11. I agree with your answer, Rolig. But from what I have heard, and seen for myself, it is quite common to have higher sim ping times in other parts of the world. For central european countries, which is where I am, you frequently see ping times above 150 and often above 200. I myself rarely have ping times below 170. Above 200 and things start to be a bit 'painful' Also, while I mostly do not see packet loss of any significance, I do see peaks of packet loss of a few percent, and sometimes above 10 percent. On the whole, though, the packet loss I see is close to 0. I'm not sure if this kind of packet loss pattern is common. It does mean rezzing is slow at times, for sure... As an FWI, I use a MacBook pro on a wireless network shared between several computers. My tests on pingtest.net sometimes gives an A rating, but often a B or C rating due to ping times around 200ms connecting to servers on the us west coast. It's a wonder I can connect to SL at all but I haven't had a failed tp with a message like the OP in at least a year. Go figure! - Luc -
  12. Bots are not illegal as such. Bot accounts should be distinguished as bots by the owner of the account, and will not count for traffic (I believe) if so. Otherwise, Irene is right, and you can file an AR. - Luc -
  13. Great news, Shabana!!! I would say your assumptions are correct. What you suggest trying should further confirm them. I say - go for it! Brilliant! - Luc -
  14. Indio is right - that is one way of doing it. You can then add regular prims as a floor and/or walls, set them to transparent and link them with the corridor (can't remember if they have to be root) and then (I think) set the physics type to prim. This should make the tructure walkable. Another way is to create another mesh - a very much simpler one - which you can use as a physics shape in the structure. You spesify this shape in the physics tab in mesh uploader. Do a seach in the mesh forum and you'll find lots of threads on the subject. This also have to be set to physics type prim in the editing panel after uploading. - Luc -
  15. Have you tried to log in to a different location? On the login screen, you can type a different location in the location field. Try Furball. Also, it may be that the group tag you are wearing is causing problems - some characters might be invalid and prevent you from logging in. If you can, get someone, or log in with an alt, to change the group tag you have active. Repeated using Google Translate: Вы пробовали войти в другое место? На экране входа в систему можно ввести различные находится в центре поля. Попробуйте Furball. Кроме того, может оказаться, что группа тегов вы носите вызывает проблемы - некоторые символы могут быть недействительными и предотвратить вас от входа в учетную запись Если вы можете, получить кого-то, или войти в систему с Alt, чтобы изменить группу тегов у вас есть активные . - Luc -
  16. Your info is still there. Open this in your browser - https://my.secondlife.com/hollyee - and check it is correct. You can also edit the info in your browser. This leads me to belive there may be something with Firestorm that makes it seem blank. Perhaps it helps to clear the Firestorm internal browser cache? (Which I don't have a clue how you do... ) - Luc -
  17. I don't know if this is of any help at all. It might not be... But I have had this error message on a Mac from time to time. The solution in my case has been to change the group permissions on the files making up the program. (There are separate permissions for owner, group and world.) That is, I have had to give read & write permissions on the content of the app. The error, and the need to change permissions, have happend if I installed the viewer on a different system account than the one I start the viewer on. The problem does happen on viewer 1 based viewers, but not viewer2/3 based ones. What I'm wondering is there could be some sort of permission issue on windows as well causing the error, or if there could be something with the user account type on your system? - Luc -
  18. As far as I know, you can not hook up your own server to power a second life sim. Nor can you run a server on your server and add to the SL grid. This kind of setup is possible on other grids, but not in SL. But, I could be wrong... - Luc -
  19. I do!!!! But I'll settle for a helpful answer for Shabana. I'll leave the red hot ones to you. - Luc -
  20. Hi Shabana. I'lll just tag a long for a while to see how *this* thread develops, and to be notified of new posts. - Luc -
  21. Hmmm... New question or not.... I don't know, really. I guess you can't set it back to not answered? Unless any of us comes up with a proper solution, I guess you should start a new question. At least others will se it and perhaps join in. You could add a link to this thread to show what has been suggested and tried so far. - Luc -
