Very true, there are Forum Guidelines to be observed. However, some searches with Google should explain the sentiments expressed.

I have no doubt that they like to think they are being hit on because, if it were true, it would confirm their attractiveness - to themselves. My experiences of it were in my store, where I used to spend a lot of time. If I asked a female shopper, "Can I help you?", there was a fair chance that the response would indicate that they thought I was about to hit on them, even though the words 'Prim Savers Owner' were above my head. It seemed to me that those people would think they were being hit on when any male av spoke to them. I'm not suggesting that there isn't plenty of it going on. I'm just saying that some of it, at least, occurs only in the female av's imagination. . If you said that in chat in your shop, I doubt any female residents would react in the way you say. If you said it via IM to a female shopper, then it is possible some would assume it was the beginning of a chat up. Why don't you just have a gesture in chat saying "I am the owner of Prim Savers, if anyone needs help with my products, just ask" and then nobody could possibly take you up wrong.

  4. So, let's see, you moan and complain about something but if someone disagrees with you, you suspect the responder has a vested interest in whatever you were complaining about and should declare it rather than you thinking that maybe your opinion is not the be all and end all and people are entitled to voice differing opinions to yours. Have I got that right? You need a big dose of humility.

  6. You're welcome and hope that works. If not, let us know and we'll see what else we can come up with. One last thing. Best to use a wired connection rather than wireless if at all possible. Wireless is more prone to packet loss and interference.
  7. Turning black can occur if you are running second life on a secondary monitor. If this is the case, switch second life to the primary monitor. If you're just running a single monitor, uninstall ALL viewers including the hidden folders in AppData. Uninstall normally then manually remove the hidden Second Life folders and any other TPV folders in AppData. Enable Hidden Files & Folders: 1) Open Control Panel 2) Open “Folder Options” 3) Open the “View” tab 4) Check “Show hidden files, folders, and drives” Press OK and close control panel. Accessing AppData: Browse to the path below that corresponds to your operating system: Windows XP - C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\ Windows Vista - C:\Users\<username>\AppData\ Windows Vista Home Premium - C:\Users\<username>\AppData\ Windows 7 - C:\Users\<username>\AppData\ Inside the AppData folder: 1) Open the Local folder and delete the entire Second Life and any other TPV folders. 2) Go back one level to the AppData folder. 3) Open the Roaming folder and delete the entire Second Life and any other TPV folders. If you wish to save existing chat files you've had with other avatars, move the Roaming > [avatar name] folder elsewhere on your computer and drag any chat text files you wish to retain into the new Roaming > [avatar name] folder once the viewer is reinstalled and you've logged in at least once. Ignore if you don't want to save any. 4) Restart your computer. Now download a fresh copy of whatever viewer you wish to use and install it. Log into the low lag Linden water sim Smith. Wait until your avatar and inventory load. Click the Recent tab to get loading started immediately. If you end up as a white cloud for a long time, there are a number of possible solutions here http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=bake_fail Make sure you are using a reasonably up-to-date graphics card driver. Catalyst 11.8 is said to be giving a few problems for some so use 11.7 instead or perhaps 11.5, which I use and it seems very stable. The ATI 3200 should work fine in SL but probably with quite a low frame rate as it is an entry level card.
  8. Quayle: ...........I have far more experience than many others that sought the office of vice president of this country. I have as much experience in the Congress as Jack Kennedy did when he sought the presidency. I will be prepared to deal with the people in the Bush administration, if that unfortunate event would ever occur. Judy Woodruff: Senator Bentsen? Bentsen: Senator, I served with Jack Kennedy, I knew Jack Kennedy, Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine. Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy.
  9. I'm not unsympathetic as it's clear something happened but in order to help the OP, she being new to SL too, she needs to know how unlikley this scenario is. We're not actually talking one newbie, we're talking three newbies per the OP's comments, all aparently persuaded to install or activate RLV, all teleported simultaneously and all sexually assaulted against their will yet none of the three logged off, clicked the X to close the program or switched their computers off. If she opens her daughters computers (presumably they have three for all this to happen same time) she can check what SL viewers are installed. If RLV it's instantly recognizable and if Phoenix, she can check if RLV is activated. That will answer the question whether RLV was involved.
  10. True but it's stretching credulity, mine at least, to suggest that the daughter (all three daughters in fact, according to the OP) installed RLV viewers or activated RLV in Phoenix, wore collars giving permissions to a person or persons unknown without knowing what they were doing and were then teleported to some destination and sexually assaulted allegedly against their will. There's a big enough hole in that scenario to sink an ocean liner. RLV or collars don't stop anyone from logging off or clicking the big X top right of the screen. I'm not sure you need to bring RLV into this at all. Could be the girl got herself into a situation she later regretted and is now greatly distressed by in which case she needs to tell her mother exactly what happened.
