  1. Yes, I'm really delving into AV physics... :) My next question is on drag, the setting under advanced parameters. Does my logic make sense? According to the Help, drag "controls the effect of air resistance. A higher number increases the air resistance." So with that in mind, I would think breasts would have less air resistance, because there's a more noticable effect from air pressing on the breasts as you walk around. (Of course most of us wear bras in real life, but let's ignore that...) So a lower drag number is needed for breasts, the butt a little higher, and the belly the highest of all. When setting drag, breasts should be lower than the butt which should be lower than the belly. Does that sound right to everyone? Thanks
  2. You're right, Perrie - There's way too much jiggle out there. :smileywink: I'm going to blame the developers on this one, though. There are way too many parameters and ranges for the parameters. I've probably spent hours at this, and I probably finally have something that looks decent. Most people don't have or want to spend hours tweaking and playing with their physics. The developers should've released a few samples to the general public, just like the do with avatars. (Did they and I missed them?) All the freebies I've seen, are too jigglely for most of us.
  3. Nothing like a real in-world test. :smileyhappy: I set everything to zero except breast cleavage which i set to 100 max effect, 40 spring, and 40 gain. Every time I moved, it was like two hands clapping. lol So it is the movement towards the middle, the cleavage. I did the same thing with breast sway, 100 effect, 40 spring, 40 gain. It is the side to side movement of the breasts. It's not a swinging motion, by the way, just a basic side to side effect, and the breasts move from side to side as a unit. It's going to be hard to adjust these to get anything even near to realistic. I foresee hours of tweaking ahead.
  4. I'm playing with the avatar physics a bit, these days. How exactly would you define the parameter breast cleavage? Is it the movement of the breasts towards the cleavage? Breast bounce is movement up and down. Breast sway is movement from side to side. Am I right about those?
  5. ty, bodzette. Now, i'm interested to see how meshes could be used for shoes or hair. Maybe sl will stop looking like there are only 8 pairs of boots available. (Slight exaggeration, but it's clear the same shoe and boot sculpts show up a lot.)

  8. So I've been dabbling in making clothes and I think I have the idea of that down a little. But today I started watching the mesh videos. I don't know if I watched them all, but they did make me wonder about two things: Is clothing creation the old way going to be obsolete, fast? Should I spend time getting smart about Blender or something if I'm planning to make clothes? I'm pretty comfortable in PS and Gimp, and I can still see where they'll be needed, but it seems I'm going to have to know a 3-D program, too. Am I wrong? Thanks

  10. Is there a tool for capturing particle effects parameters? I'm starting to build and play with particle effects a little more. I've seen some very nice effects around SL and I've spent hours trying to duplicate some of these effects. Sometimes I get what I want and sometimes I don't. Sometimes the script is in the object, so that's easy enough, but sometimes it's not. That's where it gets a little hard and I have to go into trial and error mode. Is there a tool that might help me figure out some of the parameters in these effects? Things like acceleration, radius, particle life, etc. Though there are a number of effects I'd like to figure out, one I'm particularly interested in, at the moment, is the effect in a popular freebie called, Red Rose + Hearts. The hearts drift all around you. It's a great effect. Thanks for any help.
  11. I bought some land on the mainland a few months ago and for a long time it was just fine. I put up a skybox and never saw anyone in the sky around me. All was SL bliss. In the last month or so everything has changed. Now, there are people on platforms less than 150m from me (Suspicious since my skybox is high in the air at an uncommon height.), I seem to have breeders on either side of me, and there's no doubt things have gotten laggier. So my partner and I are thinking about moving. We like to build and have a little privacy. Are islands the best option? Any suggestions on where we should look? How much should we expect to pay? We currently own 3396m w/ 900 prims in a land group and would want something similar in size and prims. Thanks for any help. (Updated to add info about land group size.)
  12. I read through the wiki and talked to some people, but I'd still like to get some thoughts from people in the forums. I want to start a land group with my partner, but want to avoid as many unforeseen missteps as I can. Currently, I own some land and my partner owns some land. We want to deed that land to the group. That part I understand: Just go to My Land and deed away. We want to make sure we split the fees up equally. We can't deed equal amounts of land, but as long as we deed and contribute equal combined amounts will we be okay? Here's our situation: My partner has 1376 m2 she can deed to the group. I have 2560 m2, now, but my tier is currently 4096. Next month it will revert back to 2560, the lower tier. Should I wait until my tier goes back down before I deed the land? I'm guessing as long as I don't deed and contribute more than 2560 to the group my tier should be billed at that level. What about items on the property? Does everything have to be given group ownership? If not, is our skybox going to end up in my lost and found? Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  13. Why isn't land in sl zoned for it's usage? I bought land in a mostly residential area with a smattering of commericial properties. Recently, I noticed lag increasing, so I did some investigating and lo-and-behold I'm getting surrounded by breeders. Judging by what I've read in the forums, this seems to be a growing problem. If you want to breed horses or cats or dinosaurs (I know. Now, I've started that trend.), good for you. But should you be able to put your stables right smack in the middle of a residential neighborhood? I don't think the solution is to come down on breeders, but rather to rethink the way land is used. Why not start zoning land? Zone land for usage such as residential or residential/commercial. In real life, there are restrictions on where you can breed horses. Why not have the same sort of restrictions in sl?

  17. I'm sure this is a popular problem. Sometimes, when I buy a new pair of pants they'll have a little flare at the cuff and the cuffs will peak through my boots. In most cases, going into Edit Outfit doesn't help, because the flare is already set to zero. Is there a secret to getting rid of peaking cuffs? Is there a way to hide them? Some boots come with a hide my foot option, but not all of them do. It seems pants makers sometimes provide cuffless/flareless versions of their pants. Should I just try to buy these? How do you tackle this problem? By not wearing boots? :D Thanks for any help.

  19. I bought a sculpt off the marketplace. It's full perm and resellable if I modify it, etc. So I've added texture, resized it, and popped some scripts in it. One thing I noticed though is the creator doesn't change. It's still the creator of the sculpt; I'm the owner, though. I don't think that I've ever bought an object in a store that didn't say the creator was the owner of that store. I can't believe the store owners are the original creators of everything they sell, you know, making all their own sculpts. Particularly since I seem to see the same shoe styles in a lot of store. :smileywink: So two questions: 1. Should I change the creator to me? This seems to make sense, since I can't imagine the creator of the sculpt wants to be bothered with questions if my script blows up on a buyer. 2. How do I change the creator to me? Thank you.
  20. i don't think you can review something unless it was bought from the marketplace, so that's a disadvantage since a lot of sales are in-world.
  21. Is this the place to talk about possible bugs? Since V2.5 my profile gets wiped fairly regularly. My sl and rl profiles get blanked out and so does my picture. Is anyone else having this issue? I've reported this, but no response since the release and my filing the first ticket. My profile disappeared the very first night. I've recreated it several times, now, and I've started updating one of my tickets on the issue with times and info if I have any. Is it possilbe at all there's a client-side issue? I wouldn't think that would affect profiles, but maybe it does. Oh, it's probably part of the same problem, but some people can read my profile and some can't. If I make my profile available on the web, it will fix that problem.
  22. Just a follow up... I talked to two people in live chat support. They didn't know 2.5 was live!
