I had assumed that any "blocked" messages would mean "they did not even get delivered to me".

But then..maybe if some were seen as SPAM and I didn't release them..

Thought I checked my SPAM folder but no, there was ONE recent email (a message from a Forum user) that was in SPAM.  Yet I get emails from them often and have never been seen as SPAM before.

Go figure. ONE email (if that even caused it).

ETA: This implies that if the Forum gives up,  you have to change emails, then if it happens again, you have to change emails AGAIN.  Luckily, I assume this is JUST for Forum emails.

Some e-mail providers can, will and have outright blocked Second Life related domains in the past - nothing to go to spam in that instance.

To both date myself here and give an example of one that does not do that: Mine goes to an AOL e-mail.

  2. Yeah ... not had a single issue with my e-mail address and Second Life 'spam'. Then again I have a dedicated folder in it for Second Life related e-mails and I actually took the time at one point to adjust which groups can send me notices.

My provider does still send some notices to the spam folder (false positives) requiring me to fish them out but .... Not all that tedious to do.

    1. No, it isn't rigged
    2. The way the system works was altered some time ago
    3. Make better content instead of complaining that you're being left in the dust
    4. (Unrelated to the OP post) No thread is "conveniently hidden" anywhere - there are categories and topic sections for a reason, use them as they are meant to be used
      1. Want to keep up on generalized threads? Right here - under the "People" category
      2. Technology? Right here
      3. Creator?
      4. Merchant or interested in being one/keeping up with what affects them?
      5. Land related topics
      6. ... And so on

This may have been asked elsewhere in the forums, but are there good hangouts where non-humans and humans of all sorts still mix?

I have so many avatars still in my inventory from the old, old days; a few favourites were a poorly made sumo wrestler and a rather horrifying daddy-long-legs  spider. Great for when you don't feel like being approached ;)  I love dinkies and tinies also, and will be looking into this domestic cat people are mentioning.

As long as you don't mind Adult things going on, The Ark is open to all sorts.

I just don't respond. I don't feel the need to disable my inbox and have only rarely blocked anyone on the forums.

Besides, if you totally block someone, you wouldn't be able to see when they apologize.

This forum does not allow for a "total" block - you can see when they post and have the option to expand it so you can read it/respond to it/react to it. You can also see when they are quoted.

PMs are a total block on any future PMs - you have to close out any existing PMs to remove their ability to message you if one is already open.

You can also still see their reactions.

As far as In World goes ... Blocking prevents you seeing their messages, yes.

  5. You chose to focus on what you call "pedantry" as opposed to the responses you got concerning the Grid Status entry.

A singular response addressing it and then moving on/swinging back to the original reason for the thread would have sufficed.

Welcome to online fora. If this is not your first rodeo in general then ... Well, perhaps it is well past time to change tactics, hmm?

  6. Except that plenty did indeed comment on your original post - the problem is that not all that many whatsoever agreed with you and with your take/tone.

Which also has a bit to do with this supposedly unrelated pedantry concerning "comment" vs post/response and such.

It is also your choice to focus on it or to simply ignore it - you chose the former and revealed far more in doing so than you may realize.

    Meh ...

  7. It would not matter which way they displayed it as the internal system will not be using anything other than a decimal value.

ETA: Nor will the slider allow you to work outside of the internal values.

I take it that this NVIDIA Control Panel is a Windows thing.   On Linux we have a NVIDIA Settings application that has only a few of these for my 1080.

Application Profiles and honestly all I've used is a global GLThreaded Optimization being turned on plus the sharpening being toggled on.

Older card and still performs well, better now with the aforementioned settings.

  9. Nope. When it came to be is irrelevant to correcting even that.

The correction should be: "Such a problem has existed for some time and is not limited to mesh."

But then again, not everyone has a chip on their shoulder regarding account age.

So, you don't think that the height 100 muscles 100 look was  invented over a decade and a half ago by accounts over a decade and a half old?

Was it invented over a decade and a half ago by noobs a month old with time machines then ?

It was invented by those suffering from Fragile Masculinity (among other things) - when it came to be is irrelevant.

Take the chip off of your shoulder sometime and look around at reality.

I am "glad" that I was not on the Forum back in the "bad old days", that way people can more easily discount me as "not an oldbie" and I escape the same fate.

Unfortunately it has little to do with forum participation and is a direct jab at account age.

I find it ironic that certain individuals ascribe far more "attitude" (and entitlement, etc.) to oldbies, than I actually see from almost any of the oldbies.

Part of it is plain bad luck, part of it is that those with the worse attitudes are often the loudest ... and part of it is the response to both of these situations.

I could not determine which post this was in response to! (But tried!)

The one ascribing it to a specific era of account.

Remember, i don't often bother quoting some responses - especially when it is pointless to do so (thanks to overall attitude or similar).
