Stupid Belli Question: Have there been any more Bellisseria Ghosts?

Not in the way of the ghosts that got the gravestones. That was an ongoing issue where the ghosts were stuck for a long time and were anon clouds. Whatever caused those ghosts was fixed, as far as we know.

People can still be ghosted the regular way though. There was a ghost of me in the ranches at Hallowe'en when I was elsewhere, which was appropriate given the season. These ghosts usually vanish either because someone tries to click/interact with them or the person who was ghosted relogs and the system sorts it.

Any insights on what the various colors on the borders mean?  and also ... I currently HAVE the parcel to the south as my linden home.  WHEN I see the that red border has gone and the name of the region has changed, do I need to abandon my parcel BEFORE I make the ticket request, or can I make the request, possibly get the parcel I want and THEN abandon my current parcel?  I'd hate to roll the dice, gamble and lose and then lose where I am right now.  Any insights on that question?

The other colours have varied over time and there's no official list about what they mean. In general, the traffic light colours usually go in order (green, yellow, orange, red) with other colours popping up around them in the order. Things like white and grey usually mark a region at the start of the process. Blue, pink and purple appear at various points. Red at the end has been pretty consistent though.

You need to have no home when your ticket is processed. Taking a chance is part of the process. What you can do is give your top three choices in the ticket, so there are other options if the first has already gone.

So when do these regions become available?  I HAD a nice water view from the northern part of Cider Mill (lower line of regions, second from the right) but would LOVE to find out when Minor Quay, Sand Crawler or their equivalents become available.  Right now they are just very grid-like and unfinished.  Any way to keep track of their status?

In the past, regions would go through several border colours until they hit red. They could sit at red for a bit. Then the borders would be removed, they'd be renamed without the SSP, and release was close enough that people would start ticketing.

Recently though, some regions had the red border removed without being renamed and/or released. That can make it harder to keep track of them on the map. The region name change will still have to happen before release though, so once you see that, it's probably go time.

Teleport routing is set to landing point, which I have reset 3 times even wearing my group. To no avail.
Thank you so much for your reply though!

You need to be the owner of the home parcel, stand where you want people to go, and then hit "set". Nothing else is needed. You might want to test with an alt to see what happens when someone else tries to teleport in. I'd also try setting it somewhere that's not near where you were trying to set it, just to see what happens.

  5. My guess would be that you have teleport routing set to anywhere and you're teleporting in using an old landmark. Landing points are only forced if teleport routing is set to landing point. You can either change the teleport routing or just make a new landmark where you want to land. Also note your home point is not the landing point of the parcel. If you use the return home option (or get kicked home from somewhere) you will arrive at the home point instead. So you have to set that separately.

  6. The map also shows borders removed from the houseboat channel between chalets and newbrooke and part of the fantasy coast. Could be a busy week if they release all the border removed ones.

I also ran around the barrel race in the ranches, but it didn't recognise my unicorn as a horse, which hurt his feelings. (Also it's probably not finished yet, but watch those previously empty regions.)

What I was trying to say by example is like the guy I didn't want to friend who then pointed out maybe he would have more luck if he came with his female Alt. I didn't want to friend him because he smacked a little bit of desperation and offering that emphasized the point. There have been other times in past where I have met someone that I wondered if they were someone I knew already and that using a different alt they were trying to take the relationship further than we had gone with their original account.

I recall a relationship drama thing some time back along those lines. Guy was rejected, used a female alt to be close friends, then pulled the "surprise, I'm that guy!" and thought it would end with a romantic/sexual relationship. Stuff like that happens. It doesn't end well. It usually just confirms that the person was right to reject / unfriend / block in the first place.

I wouldn't get too paranoid about it though, because someone doing that will reveal what they're doing pretty quickly. They want you to know, because the whole point was to prove you wrong (by doing something that proves you were right).

  8. The borders have been removed from the remaining sandy newbrooke and houseboats to the northeast. There has been some action there recently, as SSPFalstaff changed border colour from red and then back to red, suggesting it needed something done and someone was working on it. Right now, the SSP names are still in place.

I had thought that railway tracks might have been planned to go east-west across Goodge Reef (and it's road), to join the Briar Hill branchline to the main railway line that currently terminates at Full Fathom Five station on Ranch's east coast. But that idea doesn't seem possible now. Unless...

  10. It's rare for me to have issues inworld, because I don't stay in places where people are a problem. No point staying in a community, or visiting a place, if it's constantly negative. In places where things are usually fine but someone starts something, I can close group chats or leave an area. It'll likely be over by the time I return.

The issue with outside stuff, like the forum and Discord, is things can end up being exaggerated because messages persist. The thing to remember is none of that is required for using Second Life. Someone's a jerk on the forum? Take a break from checking the forum or just stop checking the forum at all if you get nothing out of it. The chat on that Discord server doesn't reflect inworld in a bad way? You can mute any discussion channels on a server so that you only see the announcements. Or leave the server entirely and just make sure you check notices in the inworld group.

But it's still all peanuts compared to PvP in MMOs, which is a trash fire of epic proportions.

  11. They said at the birthday that they intended to complete Zindra. So my money is on an adult hub with a club as part of it, placed somewhere in the area as they add in the final regions for the continent. Likely to just be a regular music type club, only with fewer restrictions on what you can wear and say. Could have a shopping bit like the main hub, only focusing on merchants who make adult stuff.

Things people asked for were adult Linden Homes and for the birthday adult area to have a stage. Both of those aren't too outrageous, so it might happen.

Linking in Zindra with everywhere else was already turned down. It'd need too many regions, but even if it didn't, everything they've done so far has made sure people can't wander into the adult areas by mistake or see the adult areas from a general/mature region. The birthday and shop and hop required people to teleport, rather than having a walking route. Which is a good thing. It means people don't have to see anything they don't want to see and the adult areas can do whatever without worrying about it.

  12. It makes sense to have a ticket pause when it's a premium plus theme. A lot of people will find a house they want in the initial period, so there won't be such a rush of tickets when they open. In this case, it's also a holiday, so people will be covering when other people have breaks. Waiting until everyone's back at work in the new year is sensible.

It's baffling to me that someone wouldn't wait a couple of weeks for something they really want. After waiting all this time for the theme to be finished and released, a few more weeks isn't much.

I wonder if how we interact with others would change if we all looked absolutely human.  Some people inworld are cruel for fun because "it's a cartoon world and nothing is real."  Would it be harder to be so cruel if you were face to face with what looks like a real life human?

Judging from examples on the internet of places that insist on real names and photographs, it won't make it harder for people. It'll actually make it easier if they deem the avatar to be the wrong sort of person. Life is a lot nicer as a mushroom.

What good do the map covers actually do? As long as we can't go into the new regions, we can't bother the Moles working in them. Does our speculation really matter?

In the early stages, it means they can move things around without people thinking it'll be permanent. In the later stages, it's so they can do the reveal for the hype and all that. Much like people wrap presents.

Speculation can also start to get out of hand once people have some information. I might look at the terrain on the map and note it looks like a dry environment, and many steps later, people are saying Ancient Egypt is confirmed for a theme and pyramid houses for everyone. So you want that bit short, before people get too convinced that any guesses were official announcements.

I think we might be missing a business opportunity here. What if someone wants a parcel that someone else has in a General or Moderate region? They could find Adult content on it, then keep ARing it until the owner decides to sell or abandon it. Buy it cheap and flip it to the next buyer.

(I'm kidding of course, but this tactic does seem like something someone would do if all's fair in in love and land flipping.)

My experience of having a neighbour who built a public adult playground on general land is that my reports didn't result in any action. In the end, someone clearly told the owner that they couldn't do that and they moved out, but it was many months later. That was a case that obviously broke the rules in every way, so I wouldn't expect a fast response (or any at all) to some furniture hidden in a skybox.

Someone who tries reporting everyone as a make money fast scheme would find that the money is not made fast, if at all.

Sometimes I offer alternate ways of reaching a destination, and sometimes I explain what the overall Experience is for—but sometimes not and very intentionally not. Some of the fun of exploring can be uncertainty, encountering successive surprises, and even a little apprehension about what may happen to the explorer just around that mysterious corner. If folks don't want that, they're better off not venturing further.

When I visit an area, I want to see the sights and the story and so on. The permissions list is not a spoiler. It does not entertain me in any way. You can tell me what permissions you're going to use (or not) without it revealing anything about the plot.

Forced animation can deform non-human avatars, which I'd rather not have to sort out. Forced camera control can make me motion sick, which is a dealbreaker and will most likely last the rest of the day once triggered. You aren't going to know all the reasons why people want to know which permissions you're using, so just tell them.

The thought of looking at Christmas lights while I'm driving in SL cracks me up.   My SL driving is bad enough that I wouldn't dream of taking my eyes off the road to look at anything.

    🤣

No better view of the lights than right in the middle of them because you just crashed into the front of the house.

  18. Collision portals can be useful, but there should be an alternative. An easy way would be to have them bring up the map on click as well as using the experience to teleport if you walk into them. That way, people have a chance to look around and decide if they want to trust the experience. They don't require the experience just to get to the bit that interests them. It'd also help if owners included a comment in their rules notecards about what their experience does.
