  1. Hello Dorian, welcome to Second Life .. and launched. I got the window frame only. Froze (program only, not all desktop). Running on VISTA. Please have a look at these issues on pJIRA Will not load login screen (can not see it) & Transparent client window Is that what you see ? It could be the Windows Color & Appearance settings, in Control Panel > Preferences. Try changing to Windows Standard or Basic. 2. From Second Life Wiki Knowledge Basehttp://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Why_was_my_group_disbanded%3F Linden Lab Official:Why was my group disbanded? Why was my group disbanded? Your group is disbanded if it does not have a total of at least twomembers for over 48 hours. This can be a result of two possiblescenarios: You created a group and nobody joined it within 48 hours. Everybody else in your group except you left the group for 48 hours. Linden Lab Official:I started a group that was disbanded, so I tried to start another one with the same name, and I can't. For technical reasons, it's not possible to have two groups with thesame name, even if one of them isn't active. You'll have to pick a newname for your group (you might try substituting numbers foralphabetical characters in time-honored 1337 tradition). Unfortunately, it's our policy not to alter the names ofdisbanded groups in order to accommodate requests for new versions ofthem. This is because it's a relatively labor-intensive process for us,and if we decided to start doing it, we'd be too busy chasing downdisbanded groups to do the other things we'd like to -- such asanswering support tickets, fixing bugs, creating new features, andgenerally making your Second Life experience as excellent as possible.

  8. Try the suggestions in this updated Second Life Wiki Knowledge Base article Fixing avatar appearance If not intentional (because Second Life avatars allow for a vast range of customization), this issue typically makes your avatar appear black or in otherwise bizarre colors. It may also show spikes, bumps, and other unsightly protrusions coming out of your body. For example, this guy's head is missing and his clothes are black. That can't be good: First, check your graphics card to make sure it's supported and the drivers are up-to-date. Learn more. Also, move the Second Life Viewer onto your primary monitor, or change your primary monitor in your computer's display control panel. Sometimes having the Viewer on your secondary monitor can mess up graphics. If the problem still persists: Go to Edit > Preferences. Click Graphics tab and check Custom to show additional options. Uncheck Hardware Skinning. Click OK" button to confirm, and see if that resolves the issue. You may also need to restart the Viewer. Why, you're looking a lot better, Mister! If there are still glitches on your avatar, try rebaking textures.
  9. Hello Gabby, unfortunately other residents have also reported that their successful Age verification seems to have got 'lost' because the Verification page wants them to resubmit their information, see pJIRA age verification results lost As Larah suggests, this might be because Larah.Oh wrote: ..on verifying again Lozlo you need to know that LL does not save your personal information, except: ADULT/ NON ADULT The organization that has your information on file is aristotele. There are very few confirmed comments that a Resident, who has successfully Age verified, with the correct Maturity settings, has been unable to access certain Regions. To figure out why they may be able or unable to access a Parcel of land within a Region (which in turn belongs to an Estate) there's this flowchart, Linden Lab Official:What are the different types of Account Verification? If any Resident believes their Age verification has been lost then they should submit a Ticket with Support at http://support.secondlife.com and add their comments and vote on the pJIRA issue. pJIRA is a tool for residents to file new feature requests as well as bug reports (The "P" stands for Public.) 10. Hello Anheliese, please see When I log into Second Life, it returns an error saying "The system is logging you out right now. Your account will not be available until..." The Second Life 1.9 update made major infrastructure changes to howyour login session is maintained on our servers. Occasionally, theserver that handled your last login session may take a few minutes torecognize that you have logged out. Please wait until the timespecified by the error before attempting to log in again. Repeatedlyattempting to log in when you receive this message may result in theprocess taking longer, preventing you from logging in at all. Afterwaiting at least fifteen minutes, if the time until your accountbecomes available continues to change, please submit a ticket throughthe Support Portaland we can investigate further. Providing the error message and thelast region you were logged into will help speed up the process. Your last logging out process has failed to complete; you are 'ghosted'. A Region restart will log you out correctly. You can get the Land Owner to do this or submit a Ticket with Support at http://support.secondlife.com. Some residents have had success with repeatedly IM'ng the ghosted Avatar or paying them 1L$. Hope this helps Message was edited by: Ellla McMahon waves to Unklebob :-D
  11. Hello Beat, see this similar Question Re: Taking pictures for a possible cause. pJIRA Snapshot to disk causes UI backgrounds to disappear Please see Dawn Memorial added a comment - 31/Jul/09 08:39 Inoticed this yesterday when I was trying to take a snapshot, Iremembered that I had enabled Show Color Under Cursor in the Advanced-> UI menu, I disabled it and after that it worked like a charm. If you'd like to add your comment and vote, it will give useful information to the Developers. ..I switched back to the original color interface (Gray vs Silver) and it doesn't happen anymore. As Q Linden says on his recent Blog post Taking technical feedback from Residents How the bug report is handled After submitting an issue, you might want to point it out to some friends. People can vote for issues they care about. Linden Lab uses vote count to help point out the issues we should pay the most attention to. Vote count is not the only measure, of course, but all things being equal, an issue with more votes will get attention sooner. pJIRA is a tool for residents to file new feature requests as well as bug reports (The "P" stands for Public.) 13. Hello Lozlo, see Torley's comment on this Question Re: Age Verification Problems and the link to the Second Life Wiki Knowledge Base page. Age verification is different from Adult verification; both are part of Account verification. Depending on the Access set by the Land owner residents need different verification. But Age verification and Payment Info on file and setting your Maturity Preferences should allow you into most Regions, unless it's restricted by one of the reasons mentioned here Can't get into the land or the Owner has set up a Security device. Yes, it's confusing !!!

  15. Dammi, do you have Advanced (Ctrl-Alt-D)>Network>Velocity Interpolate Objects enabled?
  16. Hello Tali, this article and video in Knowledge Base gives you further information about Live in a Skybox A "skybox" is basically a home that's many hundreds of meters in the sky. They have this name because they traditionally look like boxes, although they can take many forms, like a floating castle. If you own a parcel of land, you can have a skybox. A manual way to get up is to: Rez a prim (right-click the ground and select Create). Right-click it and select Sit Here. Once seated, click the Object tab of the Tools window (you may need to click the More >> button to expand the tools). Set Position (meters) Z to 500, which is a typical skybox height. Watch this movie to see how it's done: It does say a typical position is Position (meters) Z to 500 But the SL Max. build height - 4,096m. (Second Life Wiki > Knowledge Base > Limits) A teleport point sited on the ground would be a good way of getting to your skybox if you set it to a height greater than 500m
  17. Hello Bend, try Ctrl-9 to reset View > Zoom Default. See also this article in Knowledge Base, How do I look at something from a different angle? It is possible that your User settings are corrupted. You can reset to default settings, without reinstalling Second Life, by logging out of the Viewer and .. moving all of your existing settings files to a different, temporary directory. Next time Second Life starts, it will create a new, default set of settings files. Your settings files can be found in the following location: * On Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\SecondLife\user_settings * On Mac OSX: /Users//Library/Application Support/SecondLife/user_settings Hope this helps
  18. Hello Devilgyrl, can you use the About Land window Objects How can I get more prims on my land? to see who owns the Objects on your Land. If you still have problems and you rent the Land, you will need to contact the Land owner. If you are the owner then you will need to submit a Ticket with Support at https://support.secondlife.com/ Perhaps the Region needs restarting. For Owned by parcel owner, Set to group, and Owned by others, you can click Show next to each tally to view exactly which objects are included. Caution: A Region can only support 15,000 prims and an Open Space can hold 3,750 prims. (an Object Bonus setting of 1.0) The Object Bonus setting does not increase the total number of prims the Region supports; if the total number of prim in the region exceeds 15,000, no new objects will be allowed to rez, regardless of a local parcel's limits. Hope this helps
  19. Hello TwoSpirits, there's a known issue with Acer's eSecurity, see pJIRA issue Viewer crash (no error message) when attempting ANY asset upload Mick Linden added a comment - 31/Jul/08 05:25 PM Asper above, it appears that Acer pre-installs a software suite called'Acer Empowering Technology' and one of the programs in this suite iscalled eSecurity. This is actually causing the issue. It encrypts thefile system is a certain way so the Second Life client can't access it. This feature has to be disabled if people want to upload anything with the Second Life client. Please check with Acer to make sure you have the latest version of eSecurity, this usually fixes the issue. If this is not the problem, please check that you are using Supported file types for upload Let us know if this helps
  20. Hello Elena, have you checked you have the latest Graphics Card drivers, see How do I get the latest drivers for my graphics card? Nvidia have recently released Version: 191.07 Release Date: 2009.10.05. At what point when you "try to take a picture" do you crash ? Are you saving snapshot to your Inventory or Hard drive ? Do you have an Acer computer ? Please add the extra information, so someone here can try and give you an answer
  21. A possible fix for this issue has been reported on pJIRA, the Bug Tracker. Try double-clicking the clock in the Windows system tray (in the lower-right corner of the screen), and verify the full date and time. It's possible that your secure login is failing due to an incorrect date/time on your computer. While you're logged into Second Life, you're connecting to several different parts of the Second Life servers (for the region you're in, your inventory, your cash balance, etc.) It's possible to get disconnected from some parts of Second Life and not others. Hope this helps
  22. Hello Janna, before you log into Second Life please Clear the Cache from Outside Second LifeYou can check the Disk Cache location from the login screen Edit > Preferences > Network. Log into Region Pooley or Aqua, see How to appear in a different location upon login and let your Inventory fully load. Please check for any network connection issues How do I check for packet loss (network lag)? For teleporting issues, see Question Re: Cannot teleport for suggestions. Hope some of this helps
  23. Hello Christina, sorry as Quilla says, Knowledge Base article Is it possible to view transactions older than 30 days? It is not currently possible to view Linden dollar (L$) transactions older than 30 days. You can download all transactions in the past 30 days as an Excel spreadsheet for later reference. To download your transaction history: Go to https://secondlife.com/account/transactions.php In the From field, choose the earliest possible date Click the download button Save the .xls file to your hard drive
  24. If all the suggestions in the Inventory Recovery Steps have been tried, then see this Knowledge Base article, I appear to be missing inventory that I know should be there. What do I do? Also, you can submit a Ticket with Support at http://support.secondlife.com/ see Ticket Types Be sure to use the Special Questions - Basic Account or Guest Login ticket type from the dropdown list when entering the information requested. Basic account holders and Guests can submit tickets for the following issues: I had rezzed an object inworld, but it has disappeared and I cannot find it: Let us know if you've lost an object inworld that was rezzed. There was an item in my inventory window, but it isn't working or is missing: Tell us if you've lost or are experiencing problems with an object in your inventory. Hope this helps
  25. Hello Slaughtz, as other people have suggested, first check your Transaction History. Click on the Second Life logo at the top of this page and from your Dashboard, go to Account and then Transaction History. It's possibly a Group Liability, see this Video for an explanation What is a group liability?. If it is a Group Liability, please contact the Group Owner for further information. Hope this helps
