And their populations are very low compared to SL. Even the largest of them have only a small percentage of SL's with only a small percentage of those accounts are logged in at any one time.. You can go all day and not see anyone. It is possible to jump to other grids to try to find people. Even this is hard and those you meet on other grids you can not friend. As friending them is pointless you never know when there on anyway. Even though those things are true a standalone on your own computer to test with is actually a great idea for builders. It allows for free uploads which makes testing out your designs a breeze! It can be like having your own beta grid. After you build and test there you can move things to the main grid. Just as easy as using the real beta grid. Except you'll know why you can't login.

Cool. I'll try that.

I heard that the basic plan is to have the servers bake things and then serve them to the viewers. What viewers are ready to do this?

I will cut an paste it below so you can come up to speed: jeeps wrote: wat friggin idiot decided to put chat and im window on same space ,and while im at it why cant yoiu put a server for the games we play in other countries like other game companies because it is so one sided its not worth playing with the ping we have. If you're still puzzled here's a hint - look at the 3rd blue word above. Starting from the top, moving to left to right.

Some other people already told why someone complaining about things they can undo in simple ways just might be a friggin idiot. So I'll tell you who decided. The same ones who decided that the chat and im windows shouldn't be in the same space anymore. Yes, that's right. They used to be together. Then they broke up. Now they're back together again. Ain't love funny? Duh. Maybe if the idiots making the viewer made it more user friendly in the first place, huh? Also, I got news for you. Sitting down? Listening? Good. Here we go:- SL residents are customers. That is one. They have every right to complain if something is half assed and simply stupid, as in the case of CHUI. That is two. They actually have a right to complain about anything that they are paying for if it does not meet their own standards or requirements. That is three. Ain't the truth painful? The OP asked a question which I answered. Now this from a definition of Idiot : "...someone who acts in a self-defeating or significantly counterproductive way. " An example of which is complaining about aspect that can easily be avoided with simple user preferences. Dulls the impact of your complaint when it's mostly nonsense. Calling other people idiots while being one yourself is something I would try to avoid. But to each their own.

Unfortunately you (by you I mean the script) can't rename a notecard once you receive it. So if a duplicate name comes in the system is going to add to the name to make it unique. A work around is for the sending object to send a preparation message (hey, get rid of the config notecard because I'm about to send a new one.) Wait a bit (or wait for a confirming response message.) Then send the new config notecard.

Maybe someone has asked before. I did a search and didn't find it. When I edit a script with the viewer 2 I can't see some of the script. Like the initial "{" and the ending "}" don't show up when I insert a new script. Needless to say that makes it hard to see what's going on. I suppose I'm not the first to notice this so I wonder why something so simple and basic is not working. Project Mesh Viewer Not Responding & Crashes Constantly
Slvr2 Torii replied to Freshley Solo's topic in Mesh
That's helpful information. Thanks. Maybe soon a Linden will post one of those sticky things that stay at the top telling ppl that they have to use that development viewer (Just in case they didn't stay current reading the meeting notes from the last 6 months.) I noticed that the Sketchup items in the wiki are mostly an empty outline. I guess that isn't working. ....LOL... I got lost looking for the right version 1st time, used your link 2nd time and mesh is back. now if I can figure out the revised UI and get my preferences set (since CTRL-P doesn't work)... stupid BASIC mode -
Thanks. I think I'll just go back to Viewer 2.4 until there's an explanation given for the forced update.
-
I think I missed the blog/post that told us we'd have to "upgrade" to the latest viewer 2.5 now. Someone please post a link here so I can go read about what/why.

Changes to Display Names Based on Your Feedback
Slvr2 Torii commented on Jack.Linden's blog entry in Featured News
Hmmmm.... I know you got lots of feeback about the banning of Display Names that included Linden. So I'm surprised you've avoided mentioning it in your post. Anyway... like others who tested I found out I couldn't make my display name "Ford Linden" However - it was no problem to set it to "Ford Fusion" or "Apple iPhone" So.... what's up with that?
