  1. Pauline Darkfury wrote: Not being able to take/delete/return objects sounds a bit like my recent Jira ticket, SVC-6905. If the object appears to be normal other than can't be removed from the region, it's likely the same thing. If so, please add details of your object to the Jira, as it may help the techs get to the bottom of the issue. Currently, the issue is confirmed as something not being right by Maestro, and Andrew thinks that some upcoming cleanup of object deletion code may fix it. Pauline, that does sound like the problem that Melita is having. I'll send her a link to your Jira ticket.
  2. Melita Magic wrote: Having an issue. People can't pick up their own boxes. I need to go into more detail but not here. I filled in a ticket. It said error, choose one of the below. I already had but I tried again. There were no choices in the drop down at all. So I went to the Live Chat page, which is what I needed anyway - and it's blank. Of course tech support by phone is closed til Monday! Is anyone else having this issue with land and can advise me please? Ok. Melita sent me a Landmark...and TP'd over to her land. She showed me the area where the land issues are happening. I tried to file a ticket. I got an error message. Tried to file a second ticket...and again got an error. No matter what I did...the Lab's support system would not let me file a ticket. I kept getting error messages. Live Chat is only available 8-8 PST on weekends. So, I don't know if that will work...but I will try it in the morning. If anyone else that owns mainland is having this problem...post here and describe it please.
  3. Melita Magic wrote: Thanks PeeWee and Celestiall. I will IM you soon Celestiall. I can't access tickets or Live Chat. It was like this about a month ago too but I forgot about it. I assumed it would be cleared up. So I'm the only one? What is going on? :smileyindifferent: Checking back in on this thread. I didn't see an IM from you Melita. Let me know if you're still having problems. I'm inworld now, and will be inworld for most of the night working on a project. (acutally...I'll send you an IM.. : )
  4. Hey Melita, I'll be inworld in the next few minutes. I own some mainland, and can file a support ticket if you need someone else to try it. Just send me an IM ....I'd be happy to pop over and file a ticket for you or for the region that you're in. (That was PeeWee's idea...and it's a good one)
  5. Hey Katt.... : ) 1) Don't worry about having a blank or almost blank profile. My profile has been blank or mostly blank for ages now...and I still have people starting up conversations with me all around the grid... (mind you they are probably sex-crazed males...but still...they talk to me! : ) : ) 2) Focus on doing something in SL. It's what you do...that makes you interesting. Do you make things? Create? Do you write witty and informative posts here on the forum? (there are people that are known for their wit and intelligence...and that is a draw) *waves to Pep & Moxie * 3) Join groups inworld that have activities. I'll also send you a link to the Chilbo Community sims. It is a great community that has activities, town hall meetings, and can always use volunteers for various activities. Give of yourself. Give your time, you will be rewarded with friendships and activities. (just like in RL) 4) Get to know some of the forum personalities that post here. I met several of my friends back on the old SLX forums a few years ago. You can see who is like-minded by reading their posts. It one way to tell who you might mesh with as friends. 5) Be the kind of person that others want to get to know. Do you exude confidence? Mystery? Intellect? There has to be something that is a "draw". Think about what makes a person seem interesting to you. Then do a critical analysis of yourself. Do you have those qualities? If not, start cultivating them. 6) Have goals other than that of making friends. (this is true of both RL and SL) Pursue those goals...and you'll be surprised how many people will spontaneously want to get to know you...and be part of your life.
  6. Psychopats....in SL?! Well...I..never! (Sidenote: I would have corrected the spelling...but I rather like the alternate spelling : )
  7. Oskar Linden. He knows code. Code is the heart of SL...it runs everything. No code...no SL.
  8. No changes for me. None of my friends post on the SL forums. (Some of my friends posted back on the old SLX forums, I even met one of my close friends on that forum...but they stopped posting in the forums long ago...although they are still all active in SL) I check my email daily, that is how I stay in contact with friends. Some email me directly, some send me inworld messages that will show up in my email. (one is also on my RL FaceBook) My friends know me beyond and outside of SL, so this (the forums), has never been my point of contact place.
  9. Prokofy Neva wrote: The Lindens who are backing these because of some beloved stress testing or something need to weigh this alleged boon against the harassment and diminishment of Second Life for other people. If the Lindens need a stress test, they could script their own vehicles better and be willing to have them not go on certain sims. I don't think these vehicles are "Linden" backed. From what I can tell, the scripter is just placing these onto the roads on her own. She has a location that abuts up to a Linden road, and the vehicles are spawned from that location. She just puts them on the road. You or I *could* do the same thing. The Linden roads could, in theory, be swarmed with a steady stream of vehicles from multiple people So, although I don't think these auto-run-vehicles are "backed" by Lindens...I do think it will take some action from Lindens to alter the vehicle spawning.
  10. Marianne McCann wrote: Supposedly these things learn, Well, not really. I had kind of guessed how the scripting worked, and my building partner spoke with the scripter and confirmed what I had surmised. Basically the script checks to see who owns the land. So, parcels on the side of the road show as owned by non-Linden. The road shows as Linden-owned. Then the script calculates the Linden-owned space and divides that so the vehicle attempts to stay in the "middle-of-the-road-Linden-owned" part. Built into the script is a contingency place whereby if the vehicle cannot proceed, it will raise into the air, go to the side, etc to try and get back onto the road. It's not really "learning" per se...it's all scripted. Just like when the military tank vehicle shot me with the missile, it used a turret script to aim and shoot. (which on a public road seems quite a bit like griefing to me) This isn't an AI at work. It's just scripting with a few contingencies tossed in.
  11. I'm sorry to read this Pamela. I know how hard you work to create, and how utterly maddening it must be, to see your work stolen. Have you filed a support ticket? (in addition to the other methods you've mentioned)
  12. I'm glad that worked for you. Here is where I found that zip file: http://eventful.com/events/dv-class-qavimator-1-learn-make-your-own-poses-qavimator-/E0-001-029413759-1
  13. understand you're on a Mac. My building partner and I have used both Windows and Mac OS X systems and we've both been able to use Qaviamtor. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Qavimator? Edited to add: Try uninstalling what you have. Then download and install this: Mac:http://referencethis.com/QAvimator-osx-universal-svn-2008-12-06.zip (Post back here and let me know if it worked : )
  14. You need to save as either a .avm file if still working on it. Or as a .bvh file. I recommend saving as the .bvh file, which is all I use when working with QAvimator. The file can be modified and the .bvh format is also what is needed if you plan to import the animation or pose into SL.
  15. Good update info. Since about half my SL time is spent in the Beta grid, I will join the Second Life Beta group later tonight when I'm inworld (Beta-side) (If I haven't already joined that group. Will check the email list now. Thanks.
  16. You own the airspace above your parcel. No, they do not have the right to be in your airspace. Ask them to move their prim off your parcel. You don't need to give any explanation, as they are encroaching and prim trespassing on your parcel space. If they don't move their prim off your parcel space, the file an abuse report for prim encroachment. They are being very rude.
  17. I saw those vehicles the other day. Just now tried to stop one by clicking on it, and as soon as I did that another vehicle comes along. Only this vehicle is a military tank. And when I tried to stop it, it shot me with a missile!
  18. Penelope Rolendis wrote: I have been on SL since Halloween last year and only have 2 friends, one if i'm going to be honest. I have tried to go place to meet people to hang out but I have no idea where would the best places be. Could some of you tell me where I could go to meet people? I know clubs are good places but I don't go around IMing people thinking I am bothering them or something. Hi Penelope! What are your interests? Meeting people in SL is the same as meeting people in RL, the places to go depends on what type of activities you like. So you like science, art, music, politics, technology, building & creating, fashion, shopping, exploring or history? Each of those areas has places in SL where people that are interested in those things will go. So, I recommend using the Destination guide and inworld search to find places that are most likely to have people that are interested in the things you like. That way you will have a common ground and something to talk about. Send me an IM inworld with a short list of your interests and I will send you landmarks and information for places to visit inworld. (Also, I never go to clubs, so for me, those are not good places to meet people. : ) : )
  19. Cacilia McMasters wrote: i have purchased the premium account. How do I get my linden home? I also havent recieved the bonus or stipend. Check your email. You will get a confirmation email that says: "Premium Membership Confirmation" 1) Open that email 2) Scroll down on that page 3) You will see this: Click the link that says, "Claim your FREE Second Life Home Now!" That will take you to this: Just click the links to pick your Linden Home. The other comments here have info on the timeline for the stipend and bonus. Enjoy Second Life. : )
  20. Princej3rd Figaro wrote: Hello, I am building a new Peg Leg and need a copy/trans walk Limp animation to include with the Peg Leg. Please let me know! Hello, your Peg Leg build sounds cool. I suggest you post over here in the "Wanted" section. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Wanted/bd-p/Wanted That is where people post for things they "want". Or to hire someone else to do a job. (like make an animation) If for some reason you don't find a good Peg Leg animation, contact me inworld, and I'll make one for your. (I'd charge for the work though. : ) Also, ignore the sanctimonious proselytizing of the other commenter here on the forums...they clearly do not understand role-play and/or the pretend nature of SL. (Or perhaps their comment was meant in jest? Either way it was wholly inappropriate)
  21. Interesting answer Knowl. I've never heard of the Voice Echo Canyon region before. Just learned something new. : )
  22. So many fabulous places have mentioned already in this thread. Here's another great place...the Chilbo Community sims. This is an area that encompasses many sims, connected by sidewalks. There is a Town Hall, shops, art exhibits, a Bowling Alley, book stores, and a real sense of community. There are community sandboxes and helpful information for newbies. The people are friendly and creative there and very welcoming.
  23. Trewd Acer wrote: I personally can't stand the place. The place lags for me a lot even my monster computer. And don't get me started on sim crossing. Nevertheless, this isn't really a troll post; it has to be great since a lot of you people like it so much. Can you give me some reasons why? ^^ No, no..there are no reasons. Can't think of a one. Nope. No-siree bob. Stay away...far, far away. **Har Har..another one gone...now...more mainland for me! ** **Rubs my hands together gleefully** **Suckers!**
  24. Oyster Bay. From Osyter Bay, you can rez boats and sail out to sea. Or sail down the Linden River to another sea. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Oyster/95/175/85/
  25. Prokofy Neva wrote: You wouldn't have gone through and crossed out the friend or torn out the page merely because you didn't hear from them for awhile. Why this urge to delete online, in the pixel version? It's the pixaliatedness of it that is compelling! Just this week I started deleting people from my friends list...then I pruned my groups...and back to the friends list. *Click* A person is gone. *Click* a group is gone. I'd pull up my profile...look at it...aack! Still have groups...*Click* gone...click, click, click. It became an addictive process. Morbid fascination grabbed ahold of me. I would rid myself of EveryBody! Wahahaha! Then, when I was done...I roamed the grid for several days. Days of silence..no group chats, no friends logging on..all's quiet on the western front...the eastern too. Today I logged in and shrugged off the Will-O-Wispish mental morass that had taken hold of my mind. Tried to salvage my friends list and groups. I sent friend requests, IMs and emails to people. Rejoined some groups. Now, I'm careful to not bring up my friends list and look at it. Too tempting...might be...carnage redux.
