  1. Thanks. More than anything I just think this stuff is cool. I posted a few pages back about going from the classic SL avatars of the early days to the more realistic stuff we have now - it's just a geeky fascination for me in general - the graphical improvements of games (and gamelike worlds) over the years. I still have my Atari 2600 that I grew up with, basically pushing colored blocks around the screen for entertainment. The blocks have gotten a lot nicer over the years!
  2. Since I'm a big fan of following the advice of experts, here's another @Skell Dagger tribute post. While I might know a little about SL's competitive motorsports scene, I know next to nothing about male avatar fashion. So if I didn't say it before, I'll say it now - thanks Skell, your talent, time, and efforts are appreciated (not to mention the considerable amount of L$ you must sink into all this). I can't imagine trying to navigate all these products without someone knowledgeable leading the way. After picking up the Catwa/Paul head, I needed to find a skin for it that fit the mental image I have for myself, for the kind of appearance I want to portray. I found that through Stray Dog, with their "Roman" look. I wasn't totally satisfied with the hair I'd been using though, but decided to check out Stealthic after seeing one of the products on Skell's blog. A few demos later, I opted for the "Haunting" style. And thankfully I didn't have to open up my poor wallet to do it, as I still had enough L$ left over for the purchase. Now I think it's time to settle in for a while, clean up and organize my inventory, and update all my outfit folders. See you in a few months.
  3. Still tinkering. Changed the eyes a bit. Then went to hang out with one of my oldest SL friends, who has also resisted the mesh wave. But now she's reconsidering...
  4. So after seeing the many impressive posts of @Skell Dagger I figured it was time to get off my ass and see if I could put together a look with a mesh head I'd be satisfied with. If he can get insane results like the ones he posts here, then I can at least cobble something together that'll reflect my persona. I spent a good portion of yesterday and today researching and trying out demos, and I think I finally got a starting look I'm okay with, and learned quite a bit along the way. Now someone hide my wallet, quickly. Please.
  5. I love this look - I might be biased though. One of my RL best friends has her hair about the same color so I always feel like pink hair is a clear indication of awesomeness.
  6. It's the most suspenseful and mysterious moment in SL every time you cross one. Will you continue on your journey? Will you suddenly appear inside someone's home? Or will you be the first person to travel into the 4th dimension, where reality no longer means anything? NOBODY KNOWS
  7. Technically this is from last night, but we were looking pretty relaxed. I was in the market for a newer/updated boat since mine were pretty old models. A friend of mine gave me a recommendation and it worked out pretty well, so naturally I had to thank her with a trip out to sea. Good conversation was had, and many jokes were told. Of course the boat disappeared once and left us standing on the ocean floor after a sim crossing gone wrong, but that's SL for you.
  8. Funny, you look JUST like someone I ran into the other day.
  9. That's actually a funny story. You know how sometimes you get up from watching TV to go to the kitchen for a snack, and when you get back you can't find the TV remote because you took it to the kitchen with you? Well...
  10. Today's look seems to be something like "What do you mean we're at the wrong track?"
  11. That's an impressive level of detail there. Things like this make me sit back in amazement at how far SL has come from the days of...well...
  12. Well today, he looks like he's trying to figure out what kind of paint scheme to put on the new car. Either that or he's still thinking about lounge chairs.
  13. Well it has copy permissions so I can rez as many as you need
  14. Today, he looks like he's having a hard time figuring out where to put the lounge chair.
  15. IM me in-world sometime if you need info on that.
  16. Today, he looks like he's ready to make a whole lot of left turns.
  17. Seems like a good day to hang out at home and do a whole lot of nothing.
  18. Not much, really. Probably need to make a trip to the market.
