  1. I would argue that you missed my point entirely. An image being served over HTTP poses nearly no security risk. The worst someone could do is see said image via MitM. Falling back to HTTP when configuration fails to serve HTTPS is perfectly acceptable. It's not acceptable when done while transmitting credentials. (hint: serving images doesn't fall under this) If you're implying that the login screen is falling back to HTTP that's a different story but not the one you're trying to tell. No one is going to get "hacked" for being served an image over HTTP. It's simply not the way it works and trying to claim it is falls under fear mongering. Though I am curious if you're still experiencing the issue.
  2. There's nothing inherently wrong with serving marketplace images over HTTP instead of HTTPS as a fallback. If you're concerned about security, as long as it's maintained where it's necessary (see: login, password, etc details) an image being unencrypted is of little concern. Keep in mind the majority of the 'net (>50%) ran over HTTP before 2014. It wasn't until relatively recently (2018) that websites were labeled insecure for not being HTTPS by default. "But they can see what I see". Yes, they can if there's a MitM intercepting traffic. But unless you've taken appropriate steps to secure your DNS requests they can also see that you're accessing marketplace.secondlife.com (or any other website for that matter). But that's another topic for discussion. If you're still having this issue then likely you need to review your software/hardware. Given the date of your initial post it sounds like it has to do with the DST Root CA X3 certificate expiring on September 30th. It's the same issue that caused the Unscheduled Maintenance to LSL Scripts as well. Bottom line: HTTPS? Important. HTTP for images? Not a serious issue to blare alarms. Having to make exceptions for the fallback? Worth looking into but that's why it's called a fallback.

  7. Hello Lokifluff, I left you a message in-world. Looking forward to hearing from you. Regards, Renae Daines
  8. There are two scenarios that can cause what you're experiencing. First of all - it's not a connection issue. You've shown that since you can login another avatar. Second Life is also useable on dialup - albeit slow as heck. Ping being erratic means very little as long as the packetloss is within tolerance. The issue(s) you may be facing could be: Active group name containing a 2-byte character that is truncated badly Current Outfit Folder corruption Those two cases are the primary cause of the issue you are describing especially if only the avatar are effected. The only way to correct the group name is to change the name on your active tag or be ejected from the group. Alternatively if you have premium service you can have LL change your active group to none. For COF corruption (which I doubt is your issue as your log does not show the tale-tell signs) you'll need to either use an older v1 viewer (imprudence comes to mind) that doesn't use the Current Outfit folder and replace your entire avatar with a test avatar then logout safely. Alternatively you can use a third party viewer (such as Firestorm) that has support for VerifyInitialWearables. This is not available in the official viewer Simply Go to the top menu bar and select Me/Viewer > Preferences > Advanced and tick Show Advanced Menu then from the top menu bar, go to Debug > Debug settings > VerifyInitialWearables and set it to TRUE and login. That being said, I'm willing to wager your issues are caused by the 2-byte character being cut in "half" in your active group role title.
  9. For whatever reason vwrsearch is now responding as expected. However, no updates on open Jira's that I am aware of. http://vwrsearch.secondlife.com/client_search.php?session=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000&s=People&q=Renae%20Daines Would be nice to understand what took place and if it was an intended change that was rolled back or a failure on some other level that has just now (2 months later?) been fixed.
  10. Considering how long this has now been down, I can imagine this will be a permanent change. The last time this happened it was fixed same day. This one has been an issue going on a week and a half at this point. I started noticing this issue as of 2013-03-26 04:13:53 so sometime after midnight on March 26th it began returning no responses. You can utilize the new search (albeit not as clear as the old search since now you get a bunch of display names entangled in your results as well as lack of new avatar keys) via http://search.secondlife.com/client_search.php?session=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000&mat=7&q=[query_here] mat=7 ensures you return avatars whos profiles are flagged adult. Without this, they do not appear in your results unlike via vwrsearch. s=People ensures only avatars are returned. You can review the different sections of the API via http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Search_API just be aware this is not guaranteed to work as nothing ever is. vwrsearch to grab uuid's was a hack since Linden Lab does not provide that functionality. (it would be absolutely fantastic to have a reliable way to do so via username! *hint hint*) We shouldn't expect it to work at all and the fact it does is simply a miracle at that.
  11. Hello Games, I stopped by your region just to take a look and noticed your pathfinding was using up 4ms. Something I have noticed is that if you force rebake your navmesh it tends to lower that count. I have literally seen simply rebaking the navmesh on a sim raise performance from pegging 40 fps to a clean 45 fps with no other action taken. A couple things to note on this issue though. Firstly make sure you have dynamic pathfinding enabled since the above will not work properly unless it is (from my experience). Your region has it enabled so that's fine. (Simply follow the third step appropriately to enable versus disable) Secondly, force a rebake by editing the terrain just slightly (even unnoticeably so) and the button should become visible after 10-15 seconds. (Or the yellow triangle on Firestorm). Thirdly, after you have rebaked it.... If you do not need dynamic pathfinding (because you do not use pathfinding enabled items) you can safely disable this and it should help reduce the overall load on the simulator. To disable this, simply open your region console (control+shift+`) and type in: set dynamic_pathfinding false Once that is done, restart the sim. Curious to see your results with the above steps mentioned.
  12. Dream Seeker Estates is looking for new faces for our entry level support team. We are focusing on 3 PM to 12 AM time frames but please feel welcome to apply should you feel you are qualified in case we open up time slots in the future. With over 700+ regions, we strive to ensure the best possible experience for the customer. This will be discussed should you be chosen for an interview. You must have an understanding of customer service, how to deal with difficult customers, the knowledge to walk someone through an issue step by step, and the ability to follow a set procedure and/or policy with a professional attitude. Please understand that this position does not come with estate rights and the hours scheduled will be set between certain specific times in order to provide adequate coverage. However, with that being said, we understand Real Life happens unexpectedly.
