  1. One of the most heavily filmed and photographed cities in Second Life has some land available for either Residential, Commercial.. or even both! The City State of New Babbage was founded in 2007 and is a contiguous estate of 10 regions based on the theme of Steampunk and the Victorian era. The city has also been featured in the Destination Guide since the guide first opened! https://secondlife.com/destination/new-babbage All of the regions that make up New Babbage is mixed commercial/residential the only exception is Port Babbage which is mostly commercial only. No Land Buy-In! - No upfront major charge for buying the land at the beginning, you pay 1L$ to buy the land, then start your tier payments at the rental box!. All Builds Inspected - No worries about big pink neon glowing box builds appearing next door to you. All buildings, even new ones placed by existing residents, are inspected before they are placed down. Steampunk/Victorian Theme - The entire city is set in the time period of the 1880's, with a major twist of Steampunk thrown in. Formal and Informal Events - A city the size of New Babbage has regular events, wether it be the weekly ones like Foot Tappin Friday, or the large formal events like the ball at Piermont Landing. Socialising and getting to know your neighbours wont be a problem :D Roleplay is OPTIONAL! - New Babbage is a themed city, set in the Victorian Era. However the RP side of it is NOT enforced. It is up to you whether you want to RP or not. We have left the city optional in order for folks to simply... look around and explore the city. No need for OOC tags, no need to dress up in period. City of Builders - Worried that you cant build a home or store that will fit with the theme? New Babbage is well known in the Steamlands as the "City of Builders", someone in the city will be able to build your home or store building for you. Engineers Sandbox - Land owners in the city get access to The Fells sandbox platform, a private builders sandbox in the northern end of the city. City Transportation System - Trams and water taxis run across all the major sections of the city, a great way to show friends around all 9 regions. City Hall is currently under reconstruction, so the land map and current notecard can be found in the Red Rum Cafe in Clockhaven which is doubling as the Mayor's office :D http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Clockhaven/153/211/112 We also have our own drupal style website for RP blogs, event listings or general forum style chatter at http://cityofnewbabbage.com/reader If you are interested in land, or want to see what kind of land parcels we have available, contact Mosseveno Tenk or if he aint online contact Victor1st Mornington.
  2. Thanks for nothing Linden Lab, ya feature the romance catagory, but I went to check the catagory in full today and find that my place has been completley removed for no reason...
  3. Just a pity you guys never update it. 4 emails, and a new listing for Muirsheen Durkin to change it and nothing, long lists of dead destination spots, even more where the destination has completely changed...

  11. To be honest i can see the point of the lab stepping back from "interacting". I now rarley go to Blakes Sea. The times i did go there was fun times, i admit that. However on the final few times i left with a feeling that the entrie area was govered by one massive clique who didnt like outsiders invading "their territory" even though Blakes was supposed to be for ALL people. On SEVERAL occaisions I dropped notecards on people with an interest to buy a plot of land on some of the private regions bordering Blakes. These plots was yellow on the map, had for sale signs on the land, but notecards dropped to community "leaders" of blake who ran and maintained those islands went unanswered, not just by one or two, but by ALL off them. I mentioned this several times to the lindens who I bumped into or i met at meetings...and i got the impression it wasn't the first time that an "outsider" of the blakes sea had complained to the Lab. Since then I have had little, to no interest in the Blakes Sea at all.

  13. Just a quick post for the folks who have visited Brunel Hall from the destination guide...the internal furnishings of the hotel have been given a full makeover. As someone who popped into the hotel a ocuple of days ago said "There's restaurants, and then theres Brunel Hall" http://secondlife.com/destination/muirsheen-durkin-restaurant
  14. Spotted this thread, thought id show some of the mesh stuff ive made... Brunel Hall Hotel in the Academy of Industry region of New Babbage. 120m long from bar to bathing pool, 50m tall, 70m from front to back. Entire building, floors, roof, walls and outside timbering details are all done in mesh, infact, the entire buildings structure is all in mesh. Sovereign House, my private home further up from Brunel Hall on the same sim (Academy of Industry) again, full mesh, walls, floor, roof etc etc....
  15. Well i signed up for premium to use the sandboxes, and then less than 2 hours after i sign up you announce 50% off the quarterly. I';m gonna end up cancelling again and never going premium.
  16. I tried out the beta search... Seriously, is the Lab actually WANTING to force out people with visual disabilities? Viewer 2 is bad enough with the low contrast text on the buttons, but this new search takes the biscuit, over cluttered results, overcluttered on the right with classified and even more clutter with the filters on the side. The current V2 search in use is cluttered but at least the text is somewhat readable. Thanks again for nothing LL...i now see why i cancelled my premium membership at the beginning of this month.

  18. Speaking as someone well known in the Doctor Who community in Second Life (im a co-owner of The Doctor Who Expo/Experience...Katrina sim) I can tell you that staffers from the BBC have frequently visited Second Life in the past. We've had folks from Big Finish Productions visit our sim and Katrina hosts the seasonal Doctor Who Podshock podcast parties as well and the BBC regularley visit the GE site which hosts podshock, so they know we are here. The difference between the BBC and major US companies like Disney, WB, Universal, Paramount etc etc is the BBC are more relaxed with the fan base, much more willing to interact with the fanbase rather than crush them with lawyers. The BBC know we are here, they have known for a fair amount of time now. In the bigger picture of things though the fan community in SL is small compared to the larger real life Dr Who fan groups that are out there.

Thanks Lighting and windlight in New Babbage during the winter snow period is a lot more lighter than it usually is. New Babbage is a heavy industry steampunk town...normally it looks like this during no snow... Thick smog...hence the tshirt.. "I visited New Babbage and all i got was this lousy hacking cough"
  20. Thanks for the kind comments folks One more pic. About 500 metres above my home in Refugio is one of the two TARDISes i have as skyboxes. Fans of the show and folks who keep up to date with the new series will recognise this next picture of the main console room of my skybox...
