  1. Ok, an update. MFA(multi factor authentication) also known originally as 2FA is now possible with Second Life accounts. BUT it does not seem to be required. The way the Lindens have presented this is very confusing. I filed a ticket the first it was announced and the answer I received was the worst I have ever seen from technical support. I worked in technical support for almost 4 decades. Anyway it seems the day I tried to get it to work was the one the Lindens lost the HTTP server or whatever with a "3rd party vendor" And the grid pretty much shut down. I went back the next day and it worked perfectly. It adds a few seconds to log in to pick up my phone and bring up the authenticator app. Otherwise not any trouble. I have not added my building or store alts yet. As it does not seem to be totally required as of yet.
  2. Well, I just filed a ticket with the labs. Starting up MFA fails because Google Authenticator (on a few month old) Samsung phone does not give out 'tokens'. So you can't complete the MFA sign up. I think maybe someone sent out that press release early cuz they aren't ready yet. Or me and my money will be going bye bye after almost 17 years. And I use Google Authenticator numerous times each day. I have used MFA all over for work and private business for over 10 years I believe. I have been looking forward to Second Life finally implementing this security feature.
  3. I am sorry but enough is enough! Does Linden Labs no longer have any Quality Assurance person or group? They roll out new server software and ooops! we got a problem. The we that has the real problem are the creators, and land owners, and the active residents. Teleporters are broken. We can't rent homes, parcels, or stores because the rent boxes don't recognize the resident we are trying to rent to and they go away. We can't run fishing contests, huggers aren't working, and every few minutes here comes another report from a resedent or a potential resident. Group officers and land managers can only log off and wait. But oh lord help us if we don't pay our tier on time. Seriously Linden's you have to do better. Caleb Kit
  4. Thank you for all of your responses. Many of you are really good trolls. We have a community here. And some of the very best builders in SL. It has always been that SL "Is a world created by it's residents". We have community events every week. And no, rolling restarts didn't always happen on Tuesdays. And until the last few months they were over with well before our regular event of over 15 years. And yes I remember the old days where every few weeks there would be a day that you tried to log in and you got the gorillas with the big bones and the message of "Sorry for the inconviencnce but we need to bang around on things". I also remember a lot of worse things we put up with to build our communities. Meanwhile putting up with high tier prices and more and higher fees. Less support from the Lindens. More gentrification in world. And so on. Actually we are getting this issue resolved as other private sim communities have contacted us and we are now working together. So have a nice Second Life.
  5. We in the Raglan Shire sims have had a building event every Tuesday for well over 10 years from 10:30AM SLT until 12NoonPM SLT. We now call Tuesdays, "Terror Tuesdays". In recent months as the server people are unable to carry out quick Rolling Restarts of the Main Channel sims which start at 6AM SLTand go until late in the afternoon. We have had to build 2 backup sites in our sims to hold the event instead of on our main sim of Raglan Shire. Land Mangers(Officers) have to be present to monitor the sim status units we have placed on all of the sims to tell us when they have restarted. And we have to watch like hawks and then decide at the last moment where we will hold our event. Even so we have had to cancel the event for the first time in over 10 years once and been thrown out of the sim twice just in the last 3 months. So, what should we do? We are now frustrated with orange clouds, having to relog all the time to view things. Getting gaming computers doesn't seem to help. How much more money should we pump into this platform? 6. Hopefully the LInden's and their lawyers are really working out a survival plan for themselves and all of the members. As far as the gachas are concerned good riddance. However, 7Seas fishing is huge in Second Life and the issue is the transfer of Bait and other prizes. If all prizes and things such as Bait must be set to No Transfer the game is going to be severly damaged. Second LIfe was touted as a virtual world "Created by it's members". So if the members can't choose to transfer their creations is that no longer true? We have members who have created prizes and gifts that are set Transfer and they are no longer in Second Life. We cherish having some of these in their memory. And the memory of their creativity. If we have to purge them why should any of us create anything? I hope that Linden Labs and it's lawyers will very quickly explain these changes in better detail. It looks as if this decision was made in haste and without studying the ramifications before announcing. Please clarify soon. Thank you.
  7. As of today the situation has grown so bad that groups are being forced to use notices to communicate. People are giving up. In this age of cell phone calls and texts around the world, Zoom, Instagram, etc. Linden Labs can not provide a reasonable communication system for the residents. I was led to believe nearly 15 years ago that the residents created this world. But back then we were at least able to communicate. I know group chat was broken some times in those days but we didn't have anyone telling us it had be uplifted(fixed) and then have it crash so badly. And don't even get me started on the maps. Seriously, how much longer do you expect us to pay higher premium memberships and bring USD's in here??
  8. Sorry, still having group chat fails. I hope someday it truly gets fixed.
  9. I for one second Aishagain's request. Have known Main Channel (where are private sim cluster resides) and RC channel for a long time. Does SLS mean everything finally going to be uplifted by Thursday night? Right now the Raglan Shire cluster is 4 cloud sims and 4 regular sims. We would really like to have them all in the cloud. Hoping a lot of the little issues that folks have had in the last week would go away. Also we end up wondering if we should restart our non cloud sims, which are our busiest ourselves. I know this frustration is being felt by other private clusters.
  10. Ok, here we go again. It is Sunday June 2nd and for Friday, Saturday, and now today events all I am getting is "Problem Uploading to Flickr" . Again??!!!! Everyone is raising prices and cutting service??? I have a great desktop, a kick rear end video card, and direct cable internet 300 m. So the problem is not on my end. Won't work with either Firestorm or the SL management viewer.
  11. This issue appears to be resolved. I changed nothing on my flickr account but the link for sending photos from Second Life to flickr seems to be repaired. I never did see any response from the 3 tickets I filed with flickr support. Thanks to Whirly Fizzle and the Lindens for looking into the issue.
  12. Thank you for posting the BUG report. I am now watching it. Have gotten no real response from Flickr whatsoever. Neither has anyone else I know. One of the major things is that at events in second life when you put up the pictures it includes the location data. Which is great for people wanting to visit Fantasy Faire or Second Life Birthday or just general exploring. Now you have to manually upload the pictures without that data. So maybe Second Life can talk to Flickr. I hope.
  13. This is basically the form letter answer from Flickr Support. I have just filed my 2nd request for support to Flickr. They doubled my Pro service cost and then took away my ability to easily load photos and location data from SL. Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention.I appreciate you reaching out to us to let us know that you are experiencing an issue with not being send snapshots directly to flickr. At this time, our engineers have been alerted and are working to resolve any issues that may have popped up recently. At this time we are in the process of migrating Flickr away from Yahoo servers and onto our own system built on top of Amazon Web Services that, once complete, will be able to provide more stability, fewer downtime Panda pages, and will allow us to focus on building a better Flickr experience for our users. While this migration is taking place, you may notice a few more hiccups than usual as we transfer over 100 million accounts and several billion photos over to a new home, and we apologize for any frustration or inconvenience this may cause. While we do not have an exact time frame for a resolution, our engineers are now aware and investigating this issue and hope to have a fix rolled out shortly. We sincerely appreciate your patience in this as we dig into what could be causing this issue. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns, as we’d be happy to help.Sincerely, (name removed)Flickr Support
  14. There is another thread here in the forums on this topic. Some explanations are there. Flickr is changing the way you login and moving to "THE CLOUD". Oh you should all say amin at that . lolol Anyway look here and please file a ticket at Flickr support. Thank you.
  15. Yes it is Thursday evening and I just heard about this and discovered that I can't post to flickr from Second Life as well. I thought I did on Monday. And with Fantasy Faire as well as our sim events going on this is no fun. Guess the new continent broke it. lol I also filed a support ticket at Flickr later. 24hours later still no reply.
  16. Thank you for letting us know what happened. Work in tech myself. Your team's efforts are much appreciated.
  17. Hi, I downloaded and upgraded newest viewer a couple of nights ago. Last night while trying to prepare notecards and announcements for a memorial service and 2 other events I ran into this problem. Whenever I was in a notecard that had text and I tried using my physical keyboard Ctrl-C command it would erase the contents of the notecard. When going to new notecard and typing Ctrl-V a small v appears in notecard. However, if I right click on text in old notecard and select copy from the drop down menu and also when going to the new notecard I right click and select paste it works. Just can't use real keyboard. I have relogged, cleared caches, etc. Still no avail. Logged in early this morning and still the same. Looked in bug section and it seems this has been around for a while with different viewers. Guess it my time to get bit. I can't figure out bug section so didn't file one. I have been with Viewer 2 on my main desktop since the beginning. Used snowglobe on a laptop today and it did not have this problem in same sim. Main desktop is iCore7(1st gen), 6Gb Ram, Win7 64bit Ultimate, newest version Second Life viewer(2.6 something), Nvidia 250GTS video card. Thanks. Caleb Kit
  18. I am at a concert right now and it best watched with Midnight Settings.  Someone shows up with Facelight that will give a sunburn.  Can't find the old command you could check  so you didn't see them in Viewer 2.4 beta.  Thanks in advance.
