  2. I do love mesh, the good ones. But I didn't gave up using prim clothings, many are superb and the flaws that occur with them are not unlike the same flaws that I see in manu mesh ones. For the problem that ccurred with Phil, I never had the same, even when using 2 or even 3 accounts at a time. The things went slowly, as expected, but guven tme I ever could see all mesh and textures in all sessions, using default parameters. But I am not one of those that say "use mesh, prims are past!". Just use what you like, no matter what others can say. Your SL is for your pleasure, not for others'.

  4. While my main puter was being fixed I was using an old laptop that I am sure is much behind yours. Using graphics at minimum, using CoolViewer or Singularity, reducing the viewer's window to 1024 instead of maximized, I was capable to reach fps ranging between 8-15 (maximized I had 2-6 fps). Enough to have fun in SL, although I couldn't drive a vehicle (I love to sail in SL).
  5. Now I understand what happened. A friend couldn't upload mesh because she had no payment info. One day she asked me why she was marked as PIOF, if never had put a payment in her account, and if she could than make the IP Tutorial. I said her that try wouldn't hurt, thinking it was some bug. But she completed the tuto and is now capable to upload mesh. In short, LL temselves broke the safeguards they put to upload mesh.
  6. Yep, temp uploads were great, but it is gone now. But I don't feel likethe sky is falling on our heads. The "local" textures, although one cannot show it to others is much more quick to upload than temp ones. To show textures in objects, one can ever use the beta grid. OK, both have to logout from the main grid and login in beta to this, but there is an option. To show textures and pics to others, one can ever use an outside photo album or service. I use Dropbox for pics from my hard disk, or my.secondlife too for inworld shots. All this, a bit more complicated than with temp uploads, but we can do everything we used to do. _______________ ETA: with temp uploads there was a trick that I discovered for acident and never told anyone, but I think now I make it public: It you deleted the temp file, and maintain it in trash, it was not deleted from your inventory, staying there for days, usable. Of course, you could never empty trash, but this could be used by some to free upload.
  7. Yep, that's what I think. If a region is going to restart in 1 minute or 5, it would be an insignificant nuisanceto anyone, especially if compared to losing a valuable no copy item, even if this occurs only once each thousands of restarts.
  8. As my main 'puter is with the technician, because it is randomly restarting (and no, it is not memory nor overheating), I am stick with my old CrapBook: Acer Travelmate 4070 Grid: Second Life Built with MSVC version 1600 You are at 283161.1, 279818.2, 22.3 in Phearsom located at sim10332.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.50.54:13001) Second Life RC LeTigre 13.07.26.279129 Release Notes CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 2.00GHz (1999.97 MHz) Memory: 1015 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 (Build 2600) compatibility mode. real ver: 6.0 (Build 2900) Graphics Card Vendor: Intel Graphics Card: Intel 915GM Windows Graphics Driver Version: 6.14.0010.4764 OpenGL Version: 1.4.0 - Build 7.14.10.4764 Viewer SSE Version: SSE2 libcurl Version: libcurl/7.21.1 OpenSSL/1.0.0g zlib/1.2.5 c-ares/1.7.1 J2C Decoder Version: OpenJPEG: 1.5.2 Audio Driver Version: FMOD Ex 4.44.08 Qt Webkit Version: 4.7.1 (version number hard-coded) Trying to be inworld, at least to say Hi to friends, I tried 3 viewers. Today I compared them. In all, Graphics at minimum, same settings in preferences (as far as posible), no other program running, wearing a single regular clothing (blouse and shorts), no AO. Still, same place, facing at the same point. After the world was completely loaded, I looked at FPS, and memory usage. The results: Singularity: FPS ranging from 5.1 to 5.3 Memory used 459MB, maximum of 487MB Cool: FPS, 3.8-4.2 Memory, 408MB, 613MB max Firestorm: FPS, 3.8-4.0 Memory, 464MB, 479MB max. If the results are consistent, Singularity achieved 20% more FPS than the other two. Memory usage don't seem to be a problem, at least in short time, maybe after a while a bigger difference can occur.
  9. Phil, in Firestorm: For profiles: Preferences >> General In the right corner: "Extras", disable "Use web profilesby default" This way you will see the old style profiles. I don't know in other viewers.
  10. There is a HUD, Ban Line HUD by Triple Peccable, that helps to see in advance banlines, no entry objects and else, that I use when sailing (ban lines are a worse problem in sea level than flying). Unfortunately it adds to lag, so I only use the hud when sailing in trouble channels.
  11. That happened to me with a skybox 64X64m, that exact size of my plot. I was unable to rezz it there. Later I think in a solution that worked: I went to a sand box, and rezzed the sky box at 2000m high, carefully moved it to the correspondent centre of my plot. Changing to "only select my objects" (or something like this, in the build menu), with a high distance draw (~1024), I selected the whole build a took to the inventory. Back to my sim, right clicked it in the inventory and choose "return to last position" (I don't know if every viewer has this option, I was using Firestorm, that has but only works if you have rezz rights in the point 0,0,0)
  12. I remember those days. I came to Sl in jan/2007. After a week, i I stay about a month off and returned in february. Was when LL announced that if concurency was above 24k, would block basic logins. It never occured, the block, because many times I saw that there were more than 24k inworld, but was ever capable to login. (I only turned to premium in May that year, when it was clear to all that basic accounts was not being unable to login)
  13. That can be interesting... If I import a car to Brazil I'll have to pay 100% of importation tax, calculated on the value, not on the price that I paid. Should the manufacturers give me the car for free, to compensate me the tax?
  14. Simply put the order to buy Lindens, your credit card will becharged to fill it; Than cancel the order in https://secondlife.com/my/lindex/history.php? , and the dollars will go to your account as credit in US$ Just put an exchange rate higher than the best "buy orders" to be sure that your order will not be filled before you cancel it.
  15. Here is a workaround that I found sooner in the month: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/LOL-Streamlining-LINDEX-Opposite-effect/m-p/2067307#M113772 But I do prefer the simpler old system of just send as much money I want
  16. You're right, Perry. Anyway it was the only way we had to see a texture before a definitive upload until TPVs introduced the temp uploads. And in the case of sculpts, we can upload the sculpt map there, and show it to others. Not the ideal, but works. Anyway, as others had pinted already, this was a feature that was never endorsed by LL. It was good while lasted :smileywink: _______ P.S. On the differences of inventories in Aditi and Agni, recently i just forgot this, and made 6poses that was to work according to certain parameters in a boat: if the boat was turning right or left or going ahead, and if the wind was from port or leeboard, each had its own pose, commanded by script. I went to Aditi to try the poses, and see if was all working as pretended, but forgot that I didn't had the boat there, only in Agni :smileytongue:
  17. To me the only problem with Local textures, compared to temp uploads, is that you cannot show the local texture to other, to receive criticism, or to show to a customer, in case of a personalised work. In these cases, both have to go to Aditi, instead to simply show the temp inworld. Ok, I think I can live with it, especially as is a side effect of better rezz of avatars.
  18. Recently in Brazil, a guy stole a purse, with a cell phone in. He published the victim's pics in instagram and was caught :smileytongue:
  19. The video shows clearly the origin of all these L$, They were bought through the viewer, directly from Lindex, with an approved payment info in LL (what means a real name and bank info in their records). I know cases of people being put in hung for investigation for receiving supected L$ - bought from non-authorised 3rd parts, but never right from Lindex, as is shown in the video. Besides that, the "culprit" made the video. How it reached you? Or was made it by yourself? And we have only your word that the guy was "banned" after that. In retrospective, I am sorry to say that I don't trust your word.
  20. And the "griefer" payed him something like 1 million L$, just for fun, and bought in Lindex... Your little story just not convince me.
  21. Because some people, for many posible reasons, cannot buy L$ directly from Lindex.
  22. Since last wednsday, LeTigre is not hosting SSa anymore, so temp uploads are working in them, but im Magnum servers, were SSA is active this week, temps don't work anymore, just local textures, were you can test textures, but not show to others them until payed upload. [edit]Oops. Coby had already answered that
