  1. Yeah I did mean on the forum, the inworld one is even worse.
  2. From my point of view, I don't think the behavior and beliefs of "Kyrah the Resident" should impact "Kyrah the Content creator". Who people are and how they behave outside of a "professional" setting shouldn't have any incidence on one's purchase, I'm paying for a product and for the support that comes with that product. Why whould I try to hurt someone for something unrelated to our transaction? I'm also not paying to steer this person's belief in allignment with my own, I'm just trying to reward quality work.
  3. You could check for referrers, linden lab has some specific "browser parameters" in all outbound HTTP requests (it can however easily be forged). You could also check that the source IP belongs to linden lab.
  4. It can absolutely be done but the shoulders are gonna require a significant amount of "massaging" into shape.
  5. Hairs is just one of these things that I see a lot of people trying and doing as their first mesh project. Unfortunately making bad hairs is very forgiving and making good hairs requires pretty decent skills at modeling and texturing to get the right volume and style with the least possible use of alpha. For your first few 3D models I'd strongly recommend something that doesn't require to work with transparency (I'm assuming you never modeled before but I could be wrong.)
  6. Completely brainwashed. And you just confirmed what I said, you pay by the data packet, not based on who you are, where that packet comes from, what it contains, where it goes or who it goes to. The question isn't whether you get a fast or slow internet, the question is wheter your 10Mb/s internet connection will give you 10Mb/s of youtube or a measly 5Kb/s because your ISP has a paid agreement to give priority to users who go on Netflix.
  7. From my perspective one of the biggest issues of net neutrality is the idea there is "data" and "data". There shouldn't be a world where an ISP can hold their customers hostage to hurt another company. It would be a return to the telecom days where the company gets to rip off everyone: Hey Internet user you better pay me well if you want to access Amazon. Hey Amazon, you better pay me well if you want to access my Internet users. Those companies became big because everyone was treated the same way: "You pay by the Mb/s that is transiting on my network, I don't care where it come from or where it goes." And now that they are in a dominant position they don't want others to get the same treatment.
  8. He was just asking if anyone recommended one or the other probably because there are so many
  9. Allright, I figured i could waste an hour on this. Whatever STYLE you like, is really up to you, it's a matter of taste. NOW... On the technical side... (in all those, lower is always better, as long as it looks good enough) .LeLutka.Head.Simone 3.0-DEMO Teeth: vertices: 22716, triangles: 41850, video ram: 12.2Mb. Head: vertices: 15756, triangles: 29064, video ram: 45Mb. Eyes: verticles: 1144, triangles: 2120, video ram: 6.1Mb. CATWA HEAD Strawberry [DEMO] Head: vertices: 45900, triangles: 80592, video ram: 51Mb. Head toothless: vertices: 36716, triangles: 64680, video ram: 30Mb. Eyes: vertices: 1256, Triangles: 2092, video ram: 3Mb. Ears: vertices: 10632, triangles: 20376, video ram: 9Mb. Teeth B [Small] v3.2 [DEMO]: vertices: 9280, triangles: 16020, video ram: 22.5Mb. For the sake of comparison: M3A2 Bento Head (comes with the avatar 2.0 body): vertices: 2728, triangles: 4496, video ram: 3.3Mb Entire Kemono body: vertices: 16784, triangles: 26120, video ram: 2Mb.
  10. Personally I want onion skin bodies to disappear for ever. And why stop there, get rid of their creator too because anyone who thought "hey this is gonna be just fine" Should be considered too incompetent to have mesh upload rights.
  11. Klytyna I sincerely doubt that this is helping.
  12. Bad sectors means you need to replace this disk as soon as possible. They never go away and like a small tear, it only grows larger with time. It's a good thing you caught it before it corrupted something important.
  13. For your first question i'm not 100% sure but it sounds like the parcel owner is trying to display HTML pages with the parcel media. Don't quote me on this but back in the days when we still used the apple plugin you could push all sorts of non standard things in the parcel media url, such as flash animations, webpages and even pictures. (back then I used that to replace the moon on my land by a gif... good times) Anyway i'm not sure it's still possible now that we use VLC as the viewer's media player, it's possible that this parcel is still using that.
  14. Yeah Noctua coolers are just gigantic, i still have one sitting in a box, unused because it doesn't fit inside the deepest server rack I have... Also if you feel adventurous you can slightly improve dissipation on those single fan side blowers by sticking a second fan on the other side. I'm currently using the ryzen 5 stock cooler, it seem to be really decent.
  15. It depends of the brand, too. In theory you don't need much thermal paste at all since it's supposed to merely fill minuscule cracks and flaws in the two thermal interfaces. In general there is no need to redo it unless you actually see a temperature problem, many non serviceable electronic parts use thermal pastes and glues and it typically last longer than the device. Ironically, some modding (expensive) brands do have a tendency to dry up and lose their properties over time.
  16. Yes SL is old, and yes the engine isn't the best. But good content creators have to work WITH the engine to try to get the best out of it, ever game engine in the world has flaws and quirks. And today's quirks are nothing compared to lets say a PSX where the memory (2mb of ram 1mb of vram) was so minuscule and so aggressively maintained that you had to make all your textures in small square tiles to minimize ram usage. On SL they go "I'm just gonna completely ignore the problem and pretend I'm not contributing to it" and then just blame the user for having a slow computer. I've noticed something in my region, my client will just FREEZES when some people teleport in (sometimes long enough to disconnect me). Since they typically aren't griefers, I'd like to know what the hell they are wearing because it sounds like there is a creator out there that needs to fix something. I do wish avatar impostor would do a better job at derendering people because my experience is that it's still loading "too much" sometimes as even someone's impostor can be taxing.
  17. To be fair once you understand the basics the key is to practice practice practice. However... Another important element is peer review and studying prior art. Not just comparing yourself to any artists out there, because there are many specialisations in 3D modeling. People who do digital sculpting for example are not judged on the same aspects as people doing CAD design, who themselves are not judged the same way as people who make models for the movie/animation industry. When it comes to becoming better at producing 3D models for SL, we are talking about "game grade" models. So that's what you have to compare your work to. Study 3D models that are used in actual, released video games, go on https://www.models-resource.com/ and pick your favourite game there, study how they build models how they arrange their UV maps, how they make joints for animation. Study http://wiki.polycount.com! While the forum itself has become a CGI artist showreel, the wiki still contains a lot of valuable informations. The second part is much harder, especially ego wise, find other people in SL who do 3D modeling, show them your work, hell if you trust them enough, send them your blend files and ask them for a honest opinion, ask them how they would have done it, what they would have done differently, what they think of your technique. And then listen to what they have to say, and even if it hurts, don't get mad. Thank them, and offer them the same honest criticism. If they have nothing bad to say about your work, then find someone who does, perfection doesn't exist. 3D modeling is a lot of hours of self teaching and self improvement, but it can't just happen inside a vacuum, or you risk surrounding yourself into a protective wall. And when you do, you stop progressing.
  18. Please don't treat your customers as thieves. Your demos should make them want the full product. Also please consider selling your product as mod enabled, that mod tickbox is adding so much more value to your customer you're shooting yourself in the foot if you don't do it.
  19. Kemono is probably going to be the more involved port given that kemono has a very different skeleton. The "even better" way would involve to do a retopo so you can match the new body's edge flow in a more optimal way but that really depends on how "far apart" the different bodies are.
  20. This is probably off topic but I don't recommend working with Marvelous Designer as a beginer to 3D modeling. It's an excellent design tool, but it will not make you a good 3D modeler, just like CAD programs are great at designing parts for machining or floor plans but aren't so great at producing clean and optimized 3D models. You should start with the basics of working with polygons in blender so you get actual control over what your model is going to look like, and a deeper understanding of blender, it will be much easier for you to recover from mistakes and from that point, to move on to more advanced topics. https://cloud.blender.org/p/game-asset-creation/56041551044a2a00d0d7e07d This is a very good starting point and covers most of the core concepts of polygon modeling and producing game grade assets. (If someone can link to something that doesn't involve paying a subscription for latter chapters, I unfortunately don't have one "on hand" at the moment, the earlier chapters are still something you should follow) Once you become proficient with those, THEN armature and weight painting will be just that 'extra step'.
  21. Yeah sorry we went a little off topic. I'm not sure what could cause this your system vastly outmatches mine (Ryzen 5 & gtx1070). Drivers up to date?
  22. That is very good to know! But it really depends on the model of the machine, not all of them expose configuration elements in the description field to the user like this.
  23. I had a brief look and I get the feeling that it would probably not hurt to have a topic limit per avatar or something? Maybe something against all caps too but i'm being picky.
  24. They will come back at it again and again tho, it's never over until a law is written so clearly that amending it is almost impossible. The companies that became giants thanks to net neutrality now see it as a threat.
