That's what I was told because it took me a few times to get my card accepted, and it is a security reason,. Although I didn't do that I just kept attempting to add my card, which is also actually a bank card but instead of my bank's name it's now called Visa Debit Card.

If it's nothing to do with SL then make a new email account and then try getting in touch with LL using your newly made internet account. I'm not sure how long it willl take you to get the new account up and running but I know mine is virtually instantly. You can then contact LL and ask to change your email and password addresses - thus leaving the account hacker none the wiser. It's certainly very easy to change your password - I did mine yesterday after I entered into something on here that made me feel a little wibbly about. 5 minutes and all changed and protected.

I can't offer any technical advice cos when it comes to this kind of stuff I'm a complete technophobe. But what I would suggest doing is ring LL. They can look at your account and will see any movement that has occurred on your SL account. You will have your old email and passport which will show them it was your account and hopefully they will shut down the hacked details and be able to get you back on track. And I'd also try downloading anti-malware software which should hold a block on keyloggers too. Sorry if you've already done this.

Just remembered that a chappy from LL said when I'd tried a few times with no success that some banks wont let you use them because they don't know the company you want to use it with (it's a bank safety feature) so it could be that you will have to ring your bank and give them verbal authorisation for any financial actions to Second Life or whoever it says. Bizarelly after our little chat my card was accepted.

My card is a Visa Debit Card. When I filled in the financial page it did take a while to be accepted. When it asks you what card you are using, click the Visa card, as from memory there isn't a Visa Debit Card to click on. If that doesn't work send LL a help request.

LOL not as daft an idea as you'd think. I take medication that gives me short term memory loss, However, I hold my hands up and say I did hit the OK button. Or did I? mmmm anyway the only way I managed to change the picture was by reverting back to the official Second Life server, I took pics to my computer and then ta da the photo worked. I still however cannot make my picks stick. I use Firestorm and that doesn't work, I will also revert back to the SL server and that doesn't work either. Got so stressed out about it I started praying to a deity who likes to fornicate in her skills. So now I'm just not going to bother then maybe one day when SL isn't expecting me I shall slam dunk a pick and it will stick.

I've tried to change my photo in my profile, doing it the way I've always known, click on the profile picture and choosing from my inventory. But this doesn't seem to stick. When I log back in the old picture is back in its place. Same with the profile picks, I've written one but when I log out and back in it will be gone as well. I noticed something a bit odd - you know in the picks that you get a little square to put a title in, yet I've not been able to write anything here either. Has changing your profile pictures changed in any way - and if so, please can someone tell me. Thank you for all your help in advance.

Thanks for the words of advice. It's not anything of mine that is a horrible blue but things like the chat box, click on an item to wear and its in a blue box with yucky blue writing, all the folders at the top of the screen like comm, chat etc are all blue. I think I have probably hit something by accident when I was trying to remove the name tag over my head. ;o( this is why I don't usually touch buttons, change settings cos it all just goes **bleep** up.

Firstly, I do apologise for asking what some might see as easy to fix, and I can't even blame being a noob but I seem to be going round in circles. My problem is: When I open my inventory for example, my shoes folder, the colour is a weird blue colour and the writing is pretty much the same colour which makes it really hard to see what I'm searching for. I have tried going through preferences and found a colour chart but every time I try to get rid of the blue I can't. I've been pressing all kind of buttons in preferences but I'm either making it worse or not making any difference at all. Please help xx Thank you xx

Thank you all for responding. I know what happens if I start messing with things - lost many a good item of clothing because I think I know what to do when modifying so anything pre-set here I leave alone. I didn't realise how much face and body lighting not only lit the avi but also anything within a 10 mile radius - blimey I must have been so annoying when I was here before, still as I haven't plucked the guts up yet to leave my little home I can only annoy myself. All face lights etc now firmly in the bin.

I've been away for what feels like forever and am, before I start roaming, trying to update my girl. Before I disappeared I had what I think was called 'Windlight'. So, going through my inventory all I have left are cards and nothing that says anything about avatar lighting. Has this been removed from SL? If not, is there a light out there that works. I did manage to find one in the Marketplace just for the face, and despite it being free, it has done nothing to light any of Jaz up. If there is no manufactured light I can wear, is there somewhere I will find lighting instructions to put some light on her. Jaz is one of those avatars that looks better in the light, in the dark her face looks quite square and unnatural. I appreciate any help. Thank you.

I'm not sure of LL's legal rules about this but I would say, from my perspective, that putting your phone number, email address, home address is not a sensible idea. For your own safety these should only be given to people on a need ot know basis. Whatever we might like to think of the people in SL there are some real nutters out there and you'd be mad to open yourself up to them and their scams, lies and schemes. Before I left here a year or so ago I had no personal information about me. I was a police officer and the thought of turning up at someone's house to arrest them and them saying 'oh i've seen you in Second Life' wasn't a thing I was keen to get into, and it could have happened, after all if I was living a 2nd life doesn't mean criminals weren't. Just be safe and sensible. Not everyone will use your information for good.

I have some sympathy for your position, but wonder why you would make it harder for yourself. I have been out of SL for 18mths to nearly 2yrs and that, in SL terms is a lifetime. I kept my Avi (this one) because so much time, energy and money was spent on her, giving her a wardrobe I in rl could only dream of, yet I find that learning to walk in a straight line is beyond me as of yet, and so I am slowly going through my inventory, getting rid of things that come attached with a 'what in god's name was I thinking'. You see to come back into SL even after a moderate time compared to yours is like setting up anew. Learning to explore again, having the confidence to wander in and out of clubs alone, where once there was someone by your side.....It is fun, it is terrifying but it is life as SL is. All I can say to you is don't delete your old character and everything he was and could be. It is no different than you being n a coma for 9yrs to come into the world where mobile phones are the norm etc. Take your time and don't expect anything, want everything and soon it will be like you've never been away.

I bought some items from the Marketplace and when I logged on a day or so later they were nowhere to be seen, and cos I have the brain of a well used holy sponge I can only remember 2 of the items that I bought. Am sure all of this will come back to me eventually but until then I'm relying on all you wonderful SL'ers to help me when I'm stuck in a big hole xxxx

Thank you. I followed the link you put in your reply, tried to find a cache relating to either Firestorm or even SL and not a thing came up. I am a complete technophobe so most of what was said in the link I just sat there going 'huh' to. I'll keep hopping on and see if I can work it out, tis the only way I think.

Sorry me again - is there a way I can make a double of my complete inventory box so when I buy stuff I can easily move it to the right folder. Thank you, and sorry again.

For my ex hubby's birthday here I bought him an Aston Martin DB9, but sadly he's no longer with us to be able to drive it. I also bought myself one but for some bizarre reason I can't sit in mine so it sits gathering dust in my inventory (I think/hope) we also both had motorbikes, him being a biker in rl but I can say hand on heart that it is a good thing I don't ride my bike ever, at all. I find walking in a straight line hard work, imagine what i'd be like in a powerful vehicle...I smell smoke, see carnage and the odd dead pedestrian.......

Again I'm sorry if I sound like a complete newb/idiot but have managed to confuse myself. I have downloaded the official LL download, the Firestorm download and also the singularity download. When I go online on SL download everything seems to be fine, my inventory is all there, but with firestorm and singularity when I open my inventory nothings there. I left my inventory very organised, my clothes all in files like Evening Wear, Casual wear. Is this a known problem with singularity and firestorm? I have or had a lot of clothes, shoes etc and really don't want to have to start buying again but can't seem to figure out what is going wrong or where I'm going wrong.

All that worrying about clothes.....I seem to have forgotten how to even walk in here...ah well, newb being hundreds of days old lol

When I was pregnant with twins, fortunately my shape was modifiable and all I did was make my belly bigger and my breasts a little plumper and it looked absolutely natural and sooo much cheaper than buying a pregnant belly.

Thank you for your detailed response. I've only bought a couple of items that had mesh on them and they were only cheapy ones so no great loss if I completely mess it up.

Firstly I apologise for my ignorance on this matter. I've been away for over a year and things have changed quite a lot. My main query though is clothing that has 'mesh' added on to it. What exactly is it; and how does it affect the avi when it's put on. Do I even put it on like normal clothing. Can I mix something with mesh on it with something normal? All help gratefully received else I shall be walking around in the same outfit forever, afraid to change.
