I had the same problem when I came back to SL a little while ago. I was using Firestorm and that wouldn't let me edit my profile but the SL viewer would so tht's what i did, I went onto the SL viewer when I wanted to edit and then back to Firestorm for general use - eventually it sorted itself out and I can edit on Firestorm. It's a bit faffy but if it works, even for a little while..

Have you checked your 'object' folder. Some things you buy will go straight into there.

I've just gone through the same thing, looking and buying a house. After buying 4 relatively cheap ones, and one (the name i've forgotten) that logged me out every time I moved in it, I finally found my dream house at La Galleria. It's a cottage/bungalow and beautifully made. Not so cheap but I think worth it. Furniture wise I bought most of it from TMS because the animations are so good - but again, not cheap. If you tp to any house place you can find you can, in most cases, rez a copy of the house so you get a good look inside before you buy. Happy Hunting.

So, I have finally furnished my house and everything is dandy, except a recurring problem. I have put in a kitchen that has no additional lighting that I can see yet behind one part of it is a bright white light. I put in a dark wood dresser yesterday and noticed that behind that there is a bright white light and I'm completely stuck as to why its there. The house came with lights but I didn't hang them and the only other light is from the fireplace which is a dull firey light. It's not happened in any other room except the living room/kitchen. If I put the sun position onto midnight it's still as bright. I've tried taking the furniture down and putting it back up but nothing changes. I'm completely befuddled and hoping someone can help. Okay, I'm going to ask - you say your friend gave you an avatar set up in her/his name, but passed the email address, passwords to you so you could play in SL. What, if anything, has this said friend said or done regarding their avatar's account? has it crossed your mind that you may have paid for something you have done to hurt, embarrass, humiliate them and this is nothing more than cold hard revenge. After all, they have all the details, they could go into your account, transfer all funds, spam attack your friends (including them so as not to be the odd one out) and then quietly hand evrything back to you.

I have finally gotten to grips with my slink hands and have been updating my wardrobe from top to bottom but I'm running across a recurring theme. If I have the alpha layer on my hands and wear a top with an alpha layer as soon as I wear it it seems to knock the alpha layer off my hands, giving me two pairs off each arm. I've tried adding the alpha layer rather than wearing it but that doesn't seem to do anything at all. Am I missing something or can you not wear alpha layers on any or all parts of the body. I'm sure I'm missing something but I'm fuggled to know what. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have to admit I borrowed Marianne's link and now have a list, a very long list of shops I intend to traipse around when I have a pocket ful of Lindens and nothing else to spend it on. I also realised that I seem to have bought, since coming back into SL, 75% of make up packs sold in SL. I have to be patient for a couple of days then its up up and away shopping here I come ....

It appears to have mended itself after logging in and out 3 times. Weird but then this is SL so of course weird stuff happens )

I had to unload and re-load firestorm today and somewhere after re-load I was looking through the various settings and when i'd finished, exited from those menus and now when I go into my inventory and click on something, rather than it be white writing on a black background I've just got white writing on no background and it's impossible to see what each click in the inventory says...and I daren't touch anything now..can someone please help. PS I tried looking for help via Firestorm creators but all I got was a headache trying to figure out how to contact them.

Only thing i can suggest is that your old avatar can pass any items in their inventory to your new avi that are transferrable. Unless they are you can't just help yourself.

Apart from Wow who do, I'd suggest that you get a cuppy and trawl the Market Place. In my many hours of looking for a decent skin I saw quite a few different dark skins for sale..It can be a bit mind numbing round page 100 but definitely worth a look.

If you take a long stroll through Market Place for shapes/skins you will find some very, very acceptable ones for 0 Lindens or as little as 10L. Same goes for shoes, clothes, accessories - patience will get you all of them for 0L. Good luck.

From an old gal - thank you. thank you. thank you. During a bout of insomnia a couple of nights ago I thought I'd look through the MP for a new skin and shape because it's time Jaz had a new look - new SL and all that and found trawling the 100s of pages I did very pleasurable, very pleasurable indeed. Apart from one male shape/skin that looked slightly too much like my son, goddamn it you guys have made some smoking hot skins and shapes out there and I for one appreciate d greatly. Now for my query. whilst looking I came across a female that I thought was rather lovely but I already have my skin and was looking for a shape except at the bottom of this article in bold it said that to get the skin look you had to buy the shape and vice versa else you wont look anything like the picture (which I know is not a bad thing, I like to fiddle with my shapes anyway) but I went in world and started going through the demos I already have, a couple each from different shops and started to play with them and honestly, couldn't notice any difference when I put the skin I've bought to a different shape and vice versa. So, is it the skin or the shape that dictates how your avi will look, or is it both?

I was just looking at the beautiful pictures in the vanity thread and noticed, jealously, that the beautiful girl with the red hair and black dress had perfectly combined shoes, feet and legs. All coloured exactly. I don't know where I'm going wrong. I have a lot of shoes from a company i'll just call 'N' that I always wore and never seemed to have a problem with feet and legs colouring correctly, yet now I've noticed when I put them on the skin on my feet seems to alternate colours from very dark to very light and somewhere in the middle. Is it maybe that the skin I wear isn't easily compatible, despite seeing a reasonable good link and then it all goes to squat. would wearing slink feet help the problem maybe? Is there a skin out there that is very easy to match with most shoes? I'm tired of wearing boots all the time, I want my pretty shoes back....

i did make sure I wasn't wearing an outfit I may have bought when I was in world before a couple of years ago but nothing. They also changed my eye colour. In rl I have very blue eyes and love finding a clolour as near to my own and would never wear brown (no offence I just like blue eyes). There doesn't seem to have been any transactions. I think this may well remain a mystery. Fortunately they didn't take what little money I had in her account....just the memory of a very bad outfit - thigh high boots I ask you and a collar thatt would have looked just as good on a shire horse. lol But thank you for your assistance, hopefully whoever it is will not be able to get in again and if they do, I'd rather a gorgeous evening gown, something in peacock blue...

I logged out last night (Saturday) at approximately 7pm UK time and I left Jaz sitting on the balconey upstairs. She had black capri trousers on, a lilac top and a black collar necklance with black shoes. Then I log on just now and Jaz is standing on the floor, and is now wearing a black n white strapless top, a black leather skirt over the black capris, a thick black ring collar, much bigger than mine, her eyes had been changed from blue to brown (which I'd never do cos I love blue eyes), I had black thigh length boots on, which I don't own because I don't like them and I cannot figure out how it happened. The tops had 3 different versions on and she had earrings. I didn't even know I owned earrings. My question is I guess, how could this have happened. My skybox security is always on and I've not met anyone i've invited in. I know it words because the day before I got a message to say someone had tried to get in. Even if they could over-ride the security system how on earth could they completely re-clothe my Jaz. don't get me wrong if I was a Domme I'd look very well dressed for the role but as I am completely the opposite to me it just looked all wrong. I've changed my password for Jaz but is there anything else I can do? It makes me nervous to think someone is able to get into my private SLworld?

I was one of those people that disappeared from SL suddenly, due to ill health, but I left behind my beautiful and much loved house and furniture. For a little while I'd paid my rent so if I didn't come in for a while I'd be covered. Sadly, this wasn't the case and I have only just returned. In my Lost and Found folder are 2 or 3 piles of boxes still to be opened. In my furniture folder are the odd bits and bobs of my house for eg the front door and another door and various little objects like pictures etc. It has never once crossed my mind to go chasing my old Landlord because my house and grounds are a jumble in my inventory. Sometimes you have to stop, take a deep breath and spend as long as it takes going through your inventory looking for your items, or in the search box if your items had a title put that in. In all my time in SL, with all the Landlords I've dealt with I've never met one who has done what you think yours has. Hopefully you'll find your items. If you open a jumble of boxes the last time I had to do that they rezzed in the same position they were in on the land, which can be a bit of a pain chasing around for them,

Thank you all for your help. It appears that I am pressing buttons and not really having a clue what I'm doing. I'll start from the very beginning again and hope for the best.

I could lie and say I'd done nothing of the sort........goddam it, that is one thing I've done wrong *sigh* so does this mean I have to buy some new appliers on their own, or does this mean I have to buy new hands? I'm thinking I have more slink stuff in my inventory than they do in theirs.

Slink hands and feeet. I appear to have bought absolutely everything with the word slink in it somewhere and I still can't put the hands on without an obvious line, and a weird colour v my skin colour. The same goes for the feet and I really don't know what to do now. I had one with a hud that took me to a web page with different makes of skins. Mine was on there but when I changed it, it was much darker than my skin. I have bought the appliers from my skin's store but even that one was completely different - darker (for that I'm thinking they may have re=done the colours as mine was bought a couple of years ago). So, can I ask someone to help me by telling me the steps to making them work. I'm not over worried about the feet but I do like all the nail varnish you can buy for silk hands - of course, in my cockiness I have bought them also. Sometimes I amaze myself that I can even turn my laptop on..... I am so grateful for any help.

I can't give you any techy advice as im a dinosaur with the inner workings of this place, but if I log in with the official SL viewer I am always, without question a little egg. If I log in with Firestorm 9 times out of 10 I am a fluffy cloud of what looks like, brick dust. All I do is go and make a coffee, put some washing on etc and by the time I come back I look like Jaz complete with arms and legs etc. Sometimes the only thing you can be is patient. Other than that maybe one of the many tech heads can give us both a clue on how to cure it. x Jaz xx

You are able to talk in the forums so the only thing I can suggest is this - at the top of every forum page is a message on how to contact LL chaps. Tell them you have had to change your email address as your old one has been hacked but you can't change your SL password because it was so long ago you have forgotten what it was - and see if they can help. Might take you a while to sort it, and you will have to give them your new email address. It is easy to change your password here, but unfortunately because you cannot remember your old one you will have to throw yourself at the mercy of the big bosses. Fingers crossed x
